Blowout
Posted October 11th, 2015 | 480 Comments »The Eagles have looked very good for a quarter or even a half this year, but it wasn’t until Sunday that they played a good game. The potential had been there all along, but not the results. The players weren’t executing and the coaches weren’t finding any answers.
That changed today.
There were some schematic tweaks. But this game was about players, not coaches. The Eagles dominated the line of scrimmage. The Saints scored the first and last TDs of the game. In between, the Eagles outscored them 39-3. That’s pretty amazing. You don’t dominate like that because of a coach or one player having a great day. That was a team effort.
Let’s start with the OL. Sam Bradford wasn’t sacked all day long. He had a clean pocket most of the time. The RBs had room to run. I think that freaked DeMarco Murray out a bit at first. Then he got the hang of it and seemed to like it. Just going off the TV feed, I can’t single any one player out. The whole unit seemed to do a good job.
The D-line also played well. Fletcher Cox had 3 sacks, 2 FFs and a FR. That would be a good month, let alone one game. Bennie Logan had 3 TFLs and got some pressure on pass plays. The Saints had a battered OL and the Eagles took advantage of that. Drew Brees was sacked 5 times. The Eagles got a couple of fumbles from him and also picked off a pass. The Eagles gave up 96 rushing yards, but 21 of them came on the final drive when the Eagles were strictly playing the pass and had a mixture of starters and backups in the game.
As good as the Eagles looked, the Saints looked equally bad. To some, that cheapens the Eagles win. It does have to be taken into context, but part of the point in playing lesser team is to beat them…to blow them out. One other thing makes me feel comfortable with this game. It wasn’t a bunch of big plays. The Eagles had 7 drives that lasted at least 8 plays. This was methodical domination.
This doesn’t suddenly mean everything is good and the Eagles are back to being a juggernaut. One good game is just one good game.
That said, the Eagles have now won 2 of 3 games. This was a blowout and the team had a 24-0 lead over the Jets. Lase week’s loss could have easily been a win if the Eagles had just made one more play (or two kicks). This isn’t the same thing as a 5-game winning streak, but we are seeing positive signs. And that feels important when you consider the team started 0-2.
What we saw today could happen next week. There were no 80-yard runs, blocked punts or fluke TDs. The Eagles played good football. They controlled the line of scrimmage and the skill players did their part as well.
How fun was it to see the Eagles run for 186 yards? DeMarco Murray played his best game, running for 83 yards and a TD. Ryan Mathews was terrific, adding 73 yards on just 8 carries. Darren Sproles carried 5 times for 27 yards. RBs totaled 33 carries. They helped to move the chains and open up the pass game.
I loved seeing TEs be more of the passing game. Brent Celek and Zach Ertz totaled 8 catches for 104 yards and a TD. Both guys also helped with good blocking.
Another encouraging part of the blowout is that Bradford didn’t play great. He was good, but this wasn’t a performance to put in a time capsule for future generations to study. His Red Zone INTs were bad. The first was a terrible throw. Riley Cooper was wide open. Bradford just needed to put the ball toward the back of the end zone, where only Coop could get to hit. Instead, he threw that on a line. The second INT was a terrific play by the CB, but Bradford should not have forced that ball into coverage. No reason to do that.
I was surprised to see that Cooper only caught 3 passes for 32 yards. It seemed like he was far busier than that. He was targeted 8 times (tied for the team lead). There was one drop. Most of the throws were just off, some due to being down the field and low percentage.
I have to jump back over to defense for a second. Jordan Hicks continues to play really well. He was in on 4 tackles, broke up a pass and recovered a fumble. I am shocked at how good he has been. Hicks is outstanding in coverage. He tackles well. He has an uncanny nose for the ball. I really can’t wait to see him and Mychal Kendricks play together for a while. Those guys will give the Eagles a pair of terrific athletes in the middle of the field.
Exciting day. The Eagles got closer to .500 and just as importantly, they looked good doing it.
As Bradford said after the game, the key now is to build on this.
_
Almost a perfect day. Damn 49ers.
Football logic I’ll never understand. Giants: We have the lead, late in the game. They need to(don’t have to) score a TD so let’s play soft, don’t give up big plays. SF scores easily. SF: Ok, WE have the lead, late in the game. Giants have to score a TD so let’s play soft, don’t give up the big plays. TD. What’s the point of changing the defense that held the offense for 3.5 quarters?
I was saying to myself that the 49ers scored too fast. Should have wasted more clock. Then the idiot CB gets a pass interference call.
kiko, kendricks, hicks, meco who plays?
Whoever can on any given Sunday. Hopefully that’ll be at least 2 of them.
Would be nice if we can get 3. Take Demeco off the field.
play kiko, kendricks, Hicks and have Barwin and Graham, Cox and Logan as 4 man line….
Worried about us defending Vereen & Beckham. Strangely I think I may be more concerned about Vereen.
Going to be interesting to see how we defend them. I can see a blitz happy Davis getting burned
To his credit Davis has been successful when blitzing Eli.
That’s because we have been able to get there. I hope our LBs remember how to rush next week
“Davis has been successful when blitzing Eli.”
“That’s because we have been able to get there.”
brilliant analysis, will. lmfao
What do you think happens when you blitz and don’t get home???
Terrance Newman gets a long TD…. Kirk Cousin lights us up….
terrance newman? lmao
you are a football genius !!!
cousins does like throwing to the other team.
If Kendricks can play, even on a limited snap count, that would be pretty big.
blitz happy davis? hes blitz happy?
Yeah, I think he blitzed twice yesterday! Madness!
if kendricks plays then him or hicks would defend vereen. As for Beckham I would put a safety shading whatever area he lines up to help the corner.
Beckham might be slowed a bit from his hammy tonight. We’ll see.
Well Beckham and Randle have hamstring injuries, even though they have an extra day of rest. I am quietly confident in Nolan Caroll for some reason.
They will be prepared for Vereen, and ODB is not 100%. I think the defense is fine.
As usual I am worried about the O.
It was ridiculous that SF refused to cover the RB’s coming out of the Giants backfield. Eli was checking down to them all night.
Tommy, you forgot to mention the key role Bradford’s pregame shower speech played in all of this.
I know lots of folks despise Brady, but watching his sideline and on-the- field motivational histrionics, I would love to have a QB like that. He just owns that team. He demands excellence and superior performance and obviously he sets the example. I really hope Sam is evolving into a team leader like that. I’m sure that’s what Chip is envisioning with his emphasis on military like discipline and leadership. The thing with Brady is this imho… he still acknowledges the fact that he’s a 6th round pick and he’s no one special and he’s gonna out work anyone… physically and mentally. I read an article about his personal trainer… the guy is like a traditional Chinese medicine master. He’s definitely gunning for total domination this season.
We still have a lot of things to fix on the offense (and some stuff on the defense), but goddamn does it feel good to get a win.
Few things, Josh Huff only scored a touchdown because 2 Saints banged into each other like a Benny Hill routine gone wrong, Drew Brees is a hall of famer but hasn’t been playing like one for a while now, and yes the Saints being terrible does cheapen the win for me.
There I got all the grumpy fart out of me, go Birds, lets beat the Giants next week and be a respectable 3-3 going into the bye!
You guys need to stop…. half the TDs in the NFL happen because somebody on the Defense made a mistake. How many defenders slip or fall allowing a WR to get loose?
Brandon Browner only got a pick in the endzone because Sam threw a bad pass..
The Saints only scored their first TD because a rookie LB got confused about his coverage responsibilities…
I refuse to stop. I give credit when someone makes a good play, not because fortune gazed down upon them at that particular moment.
This has to be the only fanbase in sports that looks for faults when their team scores.
Just take the W
I took it. I accepted it. Grudgingly.
http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/videos/videos/Breakdown-How-Huff-Got-Things-Started/5cd1c9be-9346-44be-8345-e53b986e0be7
Even if the safety doesn’t fall, Huff has a first down at least
Hooray for the first down then.
You’re going to be disappointed a lot this season. I’m not going to try and take that away from you
Please don’t, it’s all I have in these dark times.
You have a Brasilian GF….. it cant be that bad.
It’s interesting the assumptions people make about a girlfriend who is Brazilian, without knowing the first thing about her other than where she is from.
I mean I like her obviously enough, but just being “Brazilian” doesn’t make her inherently superior to other types of girlfriends I would imagine.
Like one assumption would be that she sports a Brazilian…
Accent! No wait, that’s probably not what you were inferring…
Ha ha!! Well done!!!
Still over analyzing stuff 🙂
I agree with u… and from my experience relationships with women from other cultures, while it’s interesting to experience and can b a very liberating and fun relationship, definitely has its challenges due to different cultural values and expectations. But then again so does every relationship. If u don’t mind me asking, did u meet her in the USA or outside the USA?
Met her in USA, but also went and stayed with her in Brazil for 3 months, so I got to experience the relationship within her culture as well.
And yeah I agree about the challenges. It’s really easy to misunderstand the situation across cultures.
It’s ridiculous…”only reason we destroyed them is because they suck”. But we were a bad team that sucked last week around this time smh
Capitalizing on poor play is what makes a good team a good team tho.
Giants did enough to lose tonight but SF didn’t kaepitilize because they are not a good team
I put that on the D. We all knew Vereem was getting the ball on the final drive; everyone but the Niners
Stupid is as stupid does…
Yes! Of course! The winner is often the team that made the fewest mistakes.
Just enjoy the win man! Some people are never happy!
Another gem from my Brazilian girlfriend today as she tries to understand American Football.
I was telling her about the NFL draft and how bad MSII has been. She thought about it for a moment and said: “Are they allowed to give him back?” I almost died.
Cute
I mean, I guess it wouldn’t hurt chip to ask…!?
Need pics to determine how funny.
😉
The sincerity of the question is what had me dying. She genuinely doesn’t understand the draft coming from a world dominated by club futbol.
Marcus “did we keep the receipt?” Smith II
Michael Irvin is breaking it down right now
Man with Bennie Logan being a stud, Huff hopefully finally coming into his own, and Jordan Hicks looking like a future star I’m anxious to see what Chip can do with 2 3rd round picks next year.
Logan is turning into a monster. With Hart turning out good and Bair and Allen been good rotation guys, im not sure we can afford to pay Thornton next year, because Logan showed he can play DE very well
Would you draft another NT and move Logan to DE?
No, I would rather keep drafting 3-4 DE’s than NTs. We are lucky with Logan playing so well as a 2-gap NT.
Let Curry and Thorton walk.
Hart becomes starter. Bair becomes primary backup. Use a 7th or priority UDFA to bring in another long 2 gapper to compete with Mikhalik and Raciti for a spot. Interior rushers are devalued so you can take one or two on day 3.
I think Curry has really disappointed this year (so has all pass rushers on this team)
I’d like to see some PS/roster churn looking for pass rushers, both at OLB and DL.
False
We would have said the same about Cox before this game. They come in bunches
No, Cox has dominated through all 5 games.
Trade deadline hasn’t passed yet……………
just saying.
34 des are a dime a dozen
Cowgirls/Cheatriot fans trying to kill each other and the moral of the story? Eagles fan are still the worst because we booed Santa.
Some Eagles ‘fans’ are the worst.
I missed the game due to family obligations and when I looked at the comments on 24/7 I thought the Eagles lost! There was almost nothing but a dozen pathetic dweebs trying to outdo each other with smart-azz twittish crap.
I don’t understand the fixation on a couple of interceptions.
Newsflash: Quarterbacks throw interceptions.
The Eagles made over 500 yards, 39 points, a run game, a passing game, more than half the game in time of possession, while the defense allowed 10 points, had sacks, hurries, tackles, etc.
Can’t we just enjoy a blowout game for ONE DAY without half the folks on these sites desperately tearing the team down for their mistakes?
Newsflash. Football players make mistakes.
You do realize someone got shot, right?
The details are even more disgusting.
The gunman held the gun against the guys head and let him go. Morons egged the gunman on and then the gunman shot the guy after he let him walk a few steps.
Wow, that is far worse than I imagined. I had only seen snippets and hadn’t seen the full story yet.
booze, guns, and testosterone are a baaad combination.
Wait someone got shot? Where?

Some men just want to watch the world burn
“Come on Mags…”
24/7 has gone downhill, still good content, though.
Even the quality of the content has dipped, particularly since Sheil’s departure. Josh Paunil seems like a nice guy, and it’s obvious he is trying very hard, but his articles are unreadable. At this point, I only visit that site for McManus.
Speaking of, I saw this beauty of a post from a Cowturds fan this morning in response to Terry Bradshaw ripping Greg Hardy. Yup, we are definitely the WORST…
Lol typical of them.
Question: I’m on the east coast right now for school this month and am considering going to the Giants game. I’ll be driving up from Virginia. I’ve never been to the Linc before and only been in Philly once for the NCAA wrestling tournament. I was thinking of just buying SRO because I’m going by myself. I figured I could just walk around during the game and take it in from different parts of the stadium. Is that a good or stupid idea? Also, Is there a safe place to park that’s cheap nearby (ideally free) or is there a safe/free place to park right next to a train station entrance?
Standing room seems like a good way to go.
The train question in a tad more difficult because the subway line is what runs to the stadium, so you’d have to park on a train line, take it to the city, then get on the subway. Should be very busy for the game, but you’d need to double check the schedule for the trains back out of city.
I agree with this. Coming from the north, the train is 100% the way to go. I’d imagine traffic isn’t much better coming from the south. Navigating the trains and subways was easy, they know why people are riding at that time. The trains are marked and you can tell the ticket booth you want to get to the game and back.
I think I meant a subway stop I should park at that would be a good place to leave my car during the game, not train. My bad
If you’re trying to avoid nonsense traffic, I’d advise against that unless you’re trying to stay in the city late after the game.
I think the best available parking near the subway line would be at 30th street, but I almost never drive into the city unless I’m parking right at the game. I’m we’re heading in for dinner / drinks /etc. I’ll take the train in from home, then hop the subway if necessary.
Thanks, I’ve never had to figure out trains or anything before. Need to do some research this week to figure it out. What you’ve said so far has helped me figure out things that I just have zero experience with
Hicks is like Tommy’s former manchild Derek Landry in that he is always making plays or is on the field when a play happens.
Except, Hicks seems to lack the physical limitations that capped Landry at an average player with a knack for making plays.
love how all week the stories were “is chip losing the locker room” , “is murray upset at chip”, “what college team will kelly coach in 2016”, “He’s been figured out and his offense just won’t work in this league”……Andy Reid is now 1-4 and all i see is “Oh man, what a blow losing Jamaal Charles” , “Reid is a magnificent offensive mind”, “Alex Smith is holding back Reid’s imaginative offense”, “Chiefs defense just isn’t living up to their end of the bargain this year”
one coach is preyed upon when things are rough because he is still the new guy, and the other is coddled because of his tenure in the NFL
Funny, the neighborhood troll talked about how great Reid was and that the only reason they were losing was because their schedule was so hard. Then they go and lose to the Bears.
Yeah, that’s kinda how it works. Reid got a lot of flack for “thinks he’s smarter than everyone else” too.
With 8 targets and only 3 catches, Riley Cooper’s stat line looked suspicious, so I checked out his targets on Game Pass.
In the 1st Half he had 2 catches and 7 targets. Of the 5 non-catches, the
first was a clear overthrow by Bradford on the 4th down play from the
Saints 39, the second was also Bradford’s fault as he underthrew Cooper in
the endzone resulting in the first interception. In the 2nd Quarter Cooper’s first non catch was a solid PD by the Saints CB, the second was a throw away by Bradford beyond Cooper and out of the end zone, and the third was a
clean drop by Cooper that hit him in the hands.
In aggregate 5 catches out of 8 targets (no drop and Cooper denying the defender his PD) would have been a better line, but the other 3 were not on Cooper.
Overall for the team there were 4 drops. The one by Cooper, two by Matthews, and one by Ertz. In addition Matthews had one drop that was wiped out by the Agholor penalty.
Bottom-line on Bradford for the game was that out of 45 throws he had three balls thrown short of the receivers (including the 2 INTs), three balls where
he overthrew the receiver, and one throw away. All the rest of his throws were on target . . . and well placed. No balls thrown behind receivers this week.
And Bradford gets to face an even weaker D next week.
Another shutout would b sweet!!
Cooper doesn’t have good hands. he catches the the ball with his body too much. He’s just not clutch. I hope Agholor is back at training this week. Do we really want Cooper as our #2??
Great analysis – thanks!
I know we have injuries but this is still hilarious!
i think hicks is better than kendricks
Who is this Kendricks person?
the human hamstring pull
I find it hard to believe that in today NFL with the emphasis on sports science that some players still experience so many hamstring injuries. Is there a lack of focus on recovery and dynamic stretching? Any trainers out there familiar with reciprocal inhibition stretching?
It’s simply just a very easy muscle to aggravate, especially when it is constantly being pushed to the max. With the amount of hamstring injuries there are in the league on an annual basis I’m sure every team is trying it’s best to prevent them.
A lot may have to do with the lack of training/practice allowed in the new CBA. All that off time and lack of conditioning in training camps can lead to muscle injuries
theres no 100% cure for injuries.
Yeah, I have heard alot if folks pining for the Jordan Hicks and Mychal Kendricks team. Nobody mentions Alonso. Did I mess something? Isn’t he coming back in a few weeks? Honestly, given Kendricks history as a malingerer, I would not be surprised to see Alonso get back on the field before him.
Just paid Kendricks, no one is sure how Alonso will look coming off knee injury. He could very well get shut down for the year if it isn’t where it needs to be.
Obviously, I am jaded when it comes to Kendricks. He has been out for what feels like at least half of the games ge has been eligible for. Even Chip voiced his frustration with this problem. In the same way you have concerns that the Alonso showing me be delayed further, I feel the same with Kendricks. A routine injury with his always seems to be a prolonged situation. He definitely lacks the Dawkins Gene
Also known as hamstrings are finnicky.
Also remember a calf strain during Andy Reid tenure that was projected to keep him out 2 weeks. 7 weeks later he reappears, over pursues a few running plays, and then hurts his hammy. He is definitely a trooper
I’m gonna leave this be.
Fans questioning the toughness of professional football players may be my single largest pet peeve.
See JERNST I can show restraint.
Haha…my man…I love it!
Although, I’d actually agree with you here. It’s definitely silly to insinuate that someone can simply tough out hamstring pulls like its something mental.
its because of his injury and that they havent seen much of him. and his injury is the more worrisome one.
The Eagles have a solemn obligation to crush the Giants on Monday night.
DeMarco looked really slow & tentative on some of his runs. I think it’s obvious that Matthews is the better RB. He’s probably still not recovered 100% from his injury. I get the feeling that the coaching staff was feeding the ball to DM to bolster his confidence. I’m sure Matthews would have busted some of those runs that Murray had. What’s your impression??
looked liked DM wasn’t trusting the OL and what he was seeing; like he was expecting to get hit in the backfield.
Yeah I agree. on his one long run he just looked like he lacked the acceleration to bust it. Matthews just looks like a bruiser n relishes contact. he’s definitely not going down on 1st contact.
Murray needs to get to the 2nd level before he becomes a runaway train
Physically there is Nothing wrong with Marco… It’s just lack of trust in his OL issues combined with pressing too hard looking for the Homerun to compensate for his bad start…. I’d bet this was the game that turns the entire season around for Demarco, mainly because of what he will see when the team watches film of the first half together… marco will see how much meat was left on the bone simply because he didn’t trust the OL and the Offense, and I expect that it will lead to Marco getting this season turned around,,, film study today will be very telling for Murray. If our OL plays like it did yesterday, only thing Marco needs to do different is trust the line, and trust the play call to put his head down and explode thru the hole the play is designed to open…
…
Because of his first half mistakes, and second half improvements combined with how humbled he will be when he has to watch the game film with his team, im calling his official BREAKOUT, welcome to Philly game next week when he has a monster game carrying us to a win over the Giants.
..
Monday Night football against the Giants, will be Murrays official eagle breakout game..
I hope Murray & Matthews shove it down their throats… obviously with the o-line paving the way 🙂
I said in a comment above, there were several of his runs yesterday where holes opened up inside but he still ran to the edge. That needs to be cleaned up immediately.
Murray looks slow to me as well. Looked like it takes a few steps for him to get up to speed. I was also bothered by the fact that he doesn’t seem to know how to use his blockers when he does get to the edge.
Murray looks like he’s been studying McCoy’s tape from last year and running out on sweeps too much. He’s not looking inside for the holes that open on blocks (I saw them open up on possible cutbacks on several of his runs yesterday), he’s looking to “turn the edge”. Some of this may be play calls, some may be just him looking to break a big run every time he touches the ball. Matthews hits the hole and get 3-4-5 yards. Murray hits the edge and gets one yard or loses a couple – the same thing we saw from McCoy all last year. There is s huge difference between 2nd and 5 or 6 and 2nd and 9 or 11!
I wonder if he’s trying to avoid hits (easier to run out of bounds on the edge to avoid a hit).
I’m happy they won but I’m not going to get excited and have the wool pulled over my eyes because they beat a bad saints team.
But they didn’t just barely beat them. They dominated them, and I think that should be a good sign.
I’m with Flyin. There’s no way I’m buying in to this being a turning point in the season until I see us play a competent team, which might be a while because the Giants sure as hell aren’t competent either. I think our schedule is exceedingly soft this year.
Kind of reminds me of that Rams game when we had the throwback uni’s on, maybe 2007? Blew their doors off. But that team never really got on track.
I was just gonna post that, since there have already been a few comparisons between the 2007 Eagles and 2015 Eagles. It was against the Lions, btw.
Remember Kevin Curtis almost broke the Eagles all time receiving record? The Lions were completely incompetent that game and it was a real false positive about where we were in the season.
Good catch, it’s been awhile… don’t know where I got Rams. Maybe because our unis looked kind of like Rams colors?
I hope Maclin is living it up in KC. What the f do people do in KC anyways? He has the aspiration for mediocrity. Oh well…
the alternative was to stay in Philly and …. be on a mediocre team?
Maybe this year… but no way is Andy Reid’s team gonna ever do anything special. Is his vision so limited? I guess he doesn’t have much confidence in his leadership and potential. I sense Chip knew that and hence his reticence to resign him.
The extra million a year probably motivated him too. I’ve noticed athletes rarely take the hometown discount.
mediocre start.. stay positive
when we get to 3-3, I’ll be more positive.
that would still be “mediocre” tho.. sounds like your waiting for 5-3 6-3… be patient my friend
What do you think KC is?
That’s the point….
Two words: riverboat “ladies”.
Lol I’ll have to google that
Having seen how many ex-NFL players have wrecked their bodies during their careers and live on a diet of painkillers, I no longer hold a grudge if a player leaves for a big payday. They’ve gotta get the money while it’s there, because there’s no guarantee they’ll be fit enough to earn more once they retire.
It wasn’t a big payday relative to what the Eagles were offering him. I’m not holding a grudge either… just he’s striving for mediocrity in KC. OT… it will be more healthy when NFL players can smoke weed instead of pills.
Still illegal according to federal law
he probably chills w his family
He went to play for more money, for the coach who drafted him, who has had 10X more success than the one here, where he grew up, to a more player-friendly culture, to a team with a stacked defense. Plus, barbecue. There is nothing mediocre or hard to understand about this. My brother went from growing up in Hawaii to Lawrence, KS for college. Now that’s hard to understand.
Here’s a fun fact…. Riley Cooper was clocked at 20.82 MPH during week 4, making him one of the top 5 fastest ball carriers headed for the endzone that
week.
http://www.nfl.com/photoessays/0ap3000000552108/next-gen-stats-from-week-4-of-the-2015-season
Amazing link! Wish I knew how fast desean Jackson has been clocked as a point of reference
0.0 so far this season!
I will def be checking it out each week. Its just full of “fun” facts
Riley never looks like a fast guy either. I saw last night Gronkowski hit about 20 MPH at one point, which is scary considering he runs about 260. He’s almost unfair for DBs to try and tackle.
I think Leveon Bell has hit 22 this year. A few other guys have put up 21.
Cool to hear that before the game, Bradford addressed his WRs to tell them how much faith he had in them, rallying them for what went on to be a win..
.
Much respect TO our tackles Lane and JP who showed a ton of heart and toughness playing the entire game injured, and actually managing to perform well
..
Cox had what should be a defensive player of the week performance, 6 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 FF and 1 FR….. That’s a beast of a performance.
..
Hicks just continues to blow my mind, what a stud of a rookie..
..
Nice to see MS2 get on the field and make a play, he rushed Brees and forced him into THAT INT Thurmond picked off, he looked really fast returning that INT
.l
Max coverage was tight for the most part.
,,
Jenkins was fantastic as always
..
Meco had that nice FF were he torpedoed the defender
..
This was a much needed performance, but the key is whether we can build on it or not, because the Giants game is a MUST WIN. Can’t loae another division game..
Good news, the Giants top ranke run defense proved to be about as fraudulent as our preseason Domination… The Niners were gashing their run defense all night…..
..
The best, part of yesterday’s Eagle game is that we started to find success running our inside zone Plays which is so important to our offense.. After finding some success in the first half with our inside zone, the second half we adjusted and started to burn them with outside zones and that sweep play we have had success with early in the season..
..
If we can run the ball, we are tough to stop on offense,, and the defense showed how it can make plays when the offense does its part and gives the defense a break
…
KELCE cut his hair, “needed a change”… Sucks that we had to Sacrafice his grizzle locks to get the run going, but KELCE took one for the team
..
Bradford didn’t have some incredibly performance but it was probably Better than the credit he is getting.., to complete 32 passes with only 13 incompletions is not easy to do in the NFL…if those two terrible INTs were TDs, it would have been a spectacular 34-11 stat line.. But even while throwing those INTs, our WRs dropped 3, or 4 balls that hit the square in the chest. riley had two drops were the ball hit him in the hands, Jordan had that terrible drop, but it may have been wiped away by a penalty, don’t remember…
…
What was a 32-13 throwing day, could have pretty easily been a 36-9, 4 TD day
I am glad Smith didn’t get flagged for contacting the QB in the head on the Thurmond interception. I can’t imagine what the media and comments would do to him if his one play in two years was a penalty erasing an interception.
He also registered a tackle too I believe.
http://www.musewords.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/success.jpg
Check it out, he finally exists on paper.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/16712/marcus-smith-ii
Kelce actually got away with a chop block on the Demarco touchdown.
https://twitter.com/fduffy3/status/653550448163573760
Wow.
That makes sense. i don’t think they got to 3rd down often considering they had 34 first downs but were only 4-11 on 3rd downs.
I thought Chip called a great game. We seemed to break a lot of our tendencies that weren’t working (running Murray lateral every goddamned time).
There was one nice Mathews run where, rather than running to the opposite side of the formation from where he lined up, he just pivoted on the spot as he received the ball and stayed the same side. That “always run opposite side” was supposedly a big tendency of ours earlier in the year.
The first four games were just a setup.
Our defense played really well, but I didn’t notice Graham or Barwin. I’m beginning to get a little nervous about Graham because he should be our main pass rusher and have a few sacks racked up by now. 1 sack in five games is not good.
An eagle player was asked about the recent struggles when the world was down on them and he said, media is Clueless about their team, at no point has there been any rifts between the team, the guys have remained completely United thru these tough times and they know how much talent they have and how good they can be, and they are just focused on gelling all these new pieces into a cohesive team, and when that happens our talent will shine,,
,…
This is very important. A team that can be so under fire by the world, yet stay completely United thru all the adversity is BIGTIME,.. This slow start is terrible, but with all These new players that are still gelling, this early adversity can actually become a positive… Nothing will epedite the gelling process like the team being under so much scrutiny, having to overcome so much Early season adversity and remain positive while staying United…. Depending on these next two games, we can turn this tumultuous start into a big positive…
..
You can run all the practice snaps you want, but the ONLY way a team gels is to face adversity together and work together to overcome it as a team…
..
This is a great opportunity for such a new team, but it won’t mean anything unless we take care of business and beat the Giants..
I don’t think anybody here ever bought in to the idea that the team was in disarray and on the verge of a collapse. Just because a team is united, doesn’t mean they will produce on Sundays. This teams is still wildly inconsistent and has yet to prove otherwise. Yesterday was a big step forward (hopefully).
I think that’s all media hype, because if there’s not any drama to the story – the story won’t sell.
Cary Williams is going to be hiding under his desk today when all the seattle DBs watch the game film together…. He was really bad, even standing around avoiding contact, his new teammates DONT play that shit in seattle, I would not want to be Cary when the team watched the game film together.
,..
For us, the Worst eagle performance yesterday, if we are being honest came from Demarco Murray. He got it going and produced fine, but early in the game the OL was playing well and Murray Wasnt trusting them. Instead of running the play called, hit the hole and trust that the OL would execute in front of him, he would hesistate and look for the perfect Homerun hole which usually didn’t present itself, which slowed down Murray and he left a lot of meat on the bone..
..
Can’t crucify him for it, because we Traumatizzed him in September with Decembers teeing off on him in the backfield, clearly a trust issue, and he also was trying to hit the Homerun to compensate for his rough september. Good news is murray got it going in the second half, he trusted the OL, and they carried him to some big 7-12 yard runs in the second half… His 2nd half performance combined with what he will see in film study of the first half where he was too indecive and it cost him, while Mathews trusted the line, hit the holes and found success, should be enough to get Murray to trust this OL and allow him to turn the corner and start playing to his full potential as an eagle…
On film Murray will see a OL that was winning at the line of scrimmage, but murray didn’t trust enough to succeed behind it…. This should be the perfect storm that gets Murray to settle down, and start showing his full potential in this offense
watched the end of that sea/cin game, CLASSIC carey williams. in OT ball thrown in the flat to i think a cin TE, williams hits him at the first down yellow line, a couple other seahawks come over to help tackle. williams, who fell down from the initial contact got up and just watched as the TE fought for the first down.
Yup, he got caught watching and wanting no parts of that tackle.. If the announcers all saw it, I would hate to be cary when watching that play with guys like Sherm, Kam, and Earl in film study… ESPECIALLY when watching film of an overtime loss
..
just glad we don’t have to deal with his shit this year. oh it fells so good to have a 2ndary unit that’s on the upswing.
That was one of my biggest issues with him. He did not like to go make tackles against guys that like contact, RBs and TEs especially were tough for him.
Not much game behind all his bluster.
fake tough guy for sure
I thought Matthews earned the right to more carries yesterday. It was nice to finally see a productive day out of Murray, but I thought Chip and the coaching staff pressed the issue too much. I get that he’s the more high profile guy, but Matthews has looked far more impressive this year.
Murray works best when he’s running downhill not side to side. One thing that has become very apparent is that he cannot make something out of nothing in the way that Shady used to. He’s just got to square up his shoulder pads, get vertical and take what he can get. I thought he left a good 20 yards or so on the football field yesterday.
If we are going to run the ball 33 times like yesterday, there will be plenty carries to go around… Murray and Mathews ARENT here on some one year deal, and both have been known to miss game time… This offense is still coming together, they can play better than anything we have seen, I bet there will be plenty of times in the future when we will be extremely thankful to have both Murray and Mathews… I’m sure we will see games where we run the ball 40 times, and when that happens, splitting carries won’t be an issue
Yeah, I think CK would like too see 36-40 carries a game between the two.
Yes he would.
Lol as would I… If we start running like 40 times a game, I’ll be in heaven
I think it’s more than figuring out how to split carriers or who “earned” more carries. Murray and Mathews are two very talented but different runners. Matthews can create a little more for himself, but Murray will kill you if given some holes to work with.
Ideally, Murray gets more carries because I think he’s so great if the O-Line is doing a good job. But as we’ve seen, the game isn’t always ideal. As the game goes on, it’s about picking the right tool for the right job. It might be that Mathews should see some carries earlier while Murray sees more carries later as the D gets tired. But maybe not. As Kelly says, it’s all how the game expresses itself.
“Traumatizzed”
If we can stay healthy and win the next two games, going into our bye week back on top in our division, watch how Quickily the bandwagon fills up… But these next two games won’t be a cakewalk…
..week 6:
This week, we need the skins to Lose @ the Jets who are coming off their bye week
Eagles vs. Giants, Biggest game of our season, must win, can’t drop to 0-3 in division.
Cowboys are on a bye
week 7:
Eagles vs Panthers
cowboys @ Giants
Bucs @ skins..
…
Hopefully we take care of business before our bye week which would change the course of this entire season
giants pulled another one out of their ass, this shit is getting old.
Watching that was painful. The hell were they not all over Shane Vareen on that drive? Especially with ODB and Reuben Randle sidelined.
That’s the kind of shit that ends up biting you in the ass in the final standings after 16 games.
i chalk it up to the giants playing shit team and barely squeaking out of it with a win, at home none the less with a bad frisco team having to travel to east coast for a primetime game. this is classic eli/coughlin. congrats new york, these are your legendary qb/coach. move over tittle and parcells!
Why couldn’t they do that sh*t vs Dallas?
After my grumpiness last night, here’s a positive thought for the day:
For the most part, so far, our most “injury prone” guys aren’t lost for the season yet (ie Bradford, Ryan Mathews, Kiko, Murray, Kendricks, ‘Meco).
Here’s to Kiko and Kendricks coming back 100%.
im feeling good about kendricks’ chances, not so much about kiko’s.
Its games like this that remind me the Eagles are a cruel mistress.
There are few organizations in professional sports that know how to get your hopes up and then crush them quite so expertly as the Eagles.
yep, they are the philadelphia flyers of the nfl.
Well, I posted something as a joke there. Looking at the all 22 with washington and lots of blown assignments. Felt more like guys getting beat in real time. You can just see so many missed assignments in that game.
Lets see the team post two in a row, strong start to finish game.
[…] Lawlor of IgglesBlitz.com breaks down the team’s 39-17 win […]
They still suck.
What a clever post EagleBitchqq. Can’t troll too much when they play good huh. Get back to drinking your mother’s breast milk and shut up.
MAAAAAAAAAA the meatloaf!!!!
qq may be out of business for a few weeks.
He’s mad because they won. LOL. Sounds like a great fan.
Andy Reid still can’t coach!
glad we dumped Reid and upgraded to CK
MS2 had 2 QB hurries yesterday, as well as he played 22 snaps! Aw snap! Maxwell didn’t play all the snaps, but Carroll, Jenkins, and Thurmond did. Interesting the high priced FA isn’t getting the bulk of the snaps.
https://twitter.com/BrandonGowton/status/653577306666106880
The second pressure will get all the hype because of the INT, but the first pressure was in the second quarter was sexy. He hits Peat with an up and under rip move, immediately gets by him and was a step away from absolutely destroying Brees from the blindside. If Brees doesn’t have the man on Biggers open (for an intcompletion) Marcus buries him and gets a big forced fumble.
He looked really good in coverage, one play in particular starts to rush has a TE cross his face, immediately redirects to undercut the route and force Brees to look elsewhere.
Did solid job in run game.
Pass rush still needs a lot of work, but he’s earned himself PT next week.
Stop. I can only get so erect.
Can’t be right that a raw olb still has time to improve
I think they are easing Maxwell back in after his qaud injury from last week.
Lets not forget that a JM TD drop was erased by penalty. I am still pretty disappointed by he and Demarco.
Let’s move on to the Ginas. Monday night. Run heavy offense. Solid D.
No, I disagree. Chip’s Blur offense is predicated on passing no matter what the D alignment. Lean on passing with some runs. Then as the DL tires run like heck. It’s kinda of the opposite of Chip’s NFL approach and it worked yesterday. (I’ll have to look at the replay but I think he leaned on passing more initially.)
We should be able to throw on NYG.
Particularly MOF.
I guess what I was trying to say is run to keep the ball away from Eli – who has been hot. But yes, i re-watched the game and we did use the pass more effectively to set up the run more than in recent games. Passing clicked eventually and the run opened.
sorry – WAY TOO MUCH coffee this morning…
Appreciate the “new” CK style of O. Paced, deliberate – giving the D time to rest and re-group. Granted, NO isn’t going to the SB this year, but that’s what good teams do right? Win the games they are supposed to? I am very encouraged and am actually looking forward to Monday night.
What’s even better is i feel better about going to dallas on NOV 8 to watch us beat the girls.
i thought chip called more of a chip-like game sunday. i miss the tempo though.
Tempo will come when the team gels better and executes consistently.
Barwin claims that Celek probably had his best blocking game ever. According to Connar, Brent was dominating the game as a blocker yesterday.. Something I want to keep an eye on when I go back and watch the game
i sealed the end a couple times really well on runs by sproles and mathews
He’s had some good ones before Barwin came around, there have been games when Andy just had him block DE’s. He shut down JPP once didn’t he?
Hey Geagle – BGN reports that the Eagles played more TE sets this game. You and I called it Bud. They needed these sets for protection and passing opportunities by TE; both of which we took advantage of.
Yeah it was certainly nice to see, and Celek and Ertz both made the most of it and contributed to this win… I even saw Zack have a couple nice blocks in the run game. Celek has been an elite Blocker for years, yet BARWIN Raved about Celeks blocking yesterday, calling it a dominant effort, which was awesome to hear because CElek has had a rough start to the season, so seeing him have a dominant blocking performance hopefully means that his early season lack of production Wasnt a case of his skills quickly deteriorating because of his age..
..
Its no secret that Brent has basically become our blocking TE, where as Ertz is a quasi WR, and both stepped up and played their roles well, but I was really pleased that blocking TE Celek was abLe to do some damage catching pass for a TD, where as Ertz also showed some of the best blocking I have seen out of him since we drafted him
…
Most important, with the exception of Agholar we got out of this game Healthy… we NEED to GEL in order to consistently play up to the level that will do justice to all the Talent on this roster and we can’t gel if guys are playing next to different teammates every other week because of injuries… We saw our OL play its best 60 minutes, and we,are fortunate that those 5 starting OL emerged from this game healthy, so they will get another week to practice with the same guys Linning up next to them and build on yesterday’s solid performance.
,,,
Really great to see Bradford starting to forget about his injury history.. Now when he gets hit im not holding my breath every time,.. NOTHNG is more important to this city than getting 16 healthy games out of SAM (plus playpffs)..
We can really wear a D down with these TE sets. I love the new approach. This next game is the real test.
Tough game too. Regardless of how I feel about Eli, he’s getting the ball out quickly. If we can keep the receivers covered for the first 3 seconds, I think we got a shot at banging Eli around the field. If the rush doesn’t get home, I think we get burned a few times. Even a hurt ODB is better than most receivers in the league.
This could be a shootout if we don’t hit Eli early and often.
Once Eli gets hit a few times, he gets gun shy. His eyes get big and he looks scared. I’d be scared too if a 300 lb. Cox was driving toward me, throwing guards and tackles around like rag dolls.
Edit – Actually, I’d drop the ball (yell “take it, you beast”) then run like hell.
nice to enjoy my coffee troll free.
ALMOST troll-free, some of us just can’t resist the urge to reply to that child.
GIANTS WEEK!
It’s going to be a classic battle, what we always hope for.
Eli, meet MR. Cox.
my favorite part of that game on offense was Huff getting in the mix and scoring his TD DJAX style.
made me think he is the guy Kelly wanted to replace Desean, I know he doesn’t have the speed but he is a bad ass and can block and runs hard and is fast too, just not as fast.
if we can get huff involved every game it would be beneficial to this offense.
agree i like the energy he brings
he has the perfect kind of anger for football.
Most important thing for Huff is he needs to get some continuity and build on this.. Hopefully he doesn’t get hurt so he can stay out of the trainers room and build on this game… We have seen from chip, that he isn’t a fan of playing guys who hVent practiced that much due to injuries leading up to the game… Since chip arrived in philly he has been in and out of the training room with nagging injuries… Be nice if Josh can go on a nice stretch of games where he avoids nagging injuries, get some, continuity in hopes that he can consistently bring that toughness and explosivness to our offense…
..
So far, durability wise, Huff has, sort of been the WR version of Chris Polk..
..
Chip is doing his day after press Confrence right now, and chip just called huff one of the best Blockers in the NFL, raving about his toughness in addition to his explosive ability..
.
Said that MS2 got about 20 snaps yesterday and that coaches were pleased with his performance…. It would really be a GREAT addition if Huff and MS2 can avoid injuries and start consistently contributing to this team,.
When he did that I said to the screen, “Act like you’ve been there, buddy.” Pause to realize who it was “…Oh.”
Didnt notice — are we still playing Curry at OLB or back at DE?
no clue, he had no stats, no good or bad pft grade, haven’t seen snap counts yet,
BGN posted it in the ‘marcus smith does stuff’ article:
http://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2015/10/12/9507059/marcus-smith-eagles-saints-game-snap-count-outside-linebacker-first-round-pick-bust
Curry played 22 snaps.
yeah wonder if he got benched b/c of his play in was game?
just a guess. When a team plays poorly, you shake things up. Maybe that was the cause here…
hearty laugh after seeing the title.
Eagles open up as 3.5 point favorites…..they have been favored in every game this year
aside from jets…my apologies
Basically they are saying this is an even game. Should I be worried that the Eagles are only getting 1/2 point?
idk, tough to get a read on this game….i wonder how the Giants are actually perceived, do people think they are a good team who are a couple late game meltdowns from being 5-0? or that they are a inconsistent team who don’t have the talent to be a .500 team, and have caught a couple teams at the right time to string some wins together
if teams are close the home team is usually favored by 3 and it shifts from there during the week. I think most are high on the Giants now. They are playing better and they blew a few games more than lost them
Not really… Vegas has been off this year when setting odds for Eagles games..
..
But if we are going to assume that Vegas is on point for this week, a 3.5 favorite traditionally is an Eagles Line…. If we were a 2.5 point favorite that would be considered a Giants Line….
Good read. Lay the 3.5 tonight on the Chargers too
chip said we won’t be working out any kickers this week, sticking with Sturgis..
..
He is now addressing the drop balls as somethng they have to clean up and that they are continuosly working on it.. “When we cut out the drops this offense will be even more explosive”..
..
Chip mentioned that every day Jordan Mathews and Agholar hit the JUGS machines together at 7am… Which is great to hear, but a little dissapointing that Huff also doesn’t join our two young WRs…. I know that Huff is married. Where as jordan and nelson are single young men, but Too Often. I feel like I hear about Jordan and Nelsons top notch work ethic, and how those two are always together, going above and beyond working to develope into elite WRa, but it bothers me a bit that usually we don’t hear About Huff working with those two… We gave up some really talented, accomplished NFL WRs and spent a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick reconfiguring the WR group.. huff, Agholar, and Jordan Need to grow into the Next era starting Wrs of the Eagles and I wish I would hear more of Huff working with Nelson and Jordan to becone great WRs… Huff is a 3rd round pick, I hope he isn’t allowing oyr 1st and 2nd round WRs to out work him… I wish we would start hearing about Huff joining Nelson and Jordan in all the extra work outs they do…. We shouldn’t,be hearing that our 1st and 2nd round WRs are putting in more work than the 3rd round Wr
i loved his response when asked what they can do to get Sam playing better early in games….”maybe we can start playing double-headers”
Lol yeah that was a good one
arent jordan and nelson roommates?
1) At this point there probably aren’t any kickers on the street that would be an upgrade. You’ve got to trust the NFL scouts on this one. There are a dozen teams who’d cut their the PK for a mediocre upgrade.
2) Showing up two hours early to work isn’t the best use of time for everybody. Training well doesn’t always mean training long.
pretty cool to see a guy change positions and become a good safety for us.
what a move putting Thurmond back there.. how did they know?
but I guess Malcom was a corner too back in the day.
makes sense.
the defense is looking good and just waiting for the offense to be constant so we can start winning every game… BIG!
Walter Thurmond is basically Giving us what I expected to get from Jarius BYRD when I spent two years dreaming about the Eagles signing Jarius….what’s really INCREDIBLE is that jenkins and thurmond combined cost less than the saints are paying BYRD,,what. Score this is proving to be…they are one of the safety tandems playing At the highest level league wide, and combined they cost us less than what the saints are paying for Byrd while he has only been able to play like 2-3 out of 21 games as a saint,,,
..
What’s Really BIGTIME is it seems like someone in this regime knows how to identify DB talemt better than what has plagued us his past decade..
..,.
already forget but we were going into this year expecting another year of the “curse of treating Dawk like shit” continuing to haunt us, yet we saw what was easily one of the top 5 safety Tandems in the league during the month of September.. With Kam sitting out in September, im not even sure if anyone had a better safety tandem than us for the first quarter of the season..
..
malcolm is literally in the middle of an all pro safety campaign.
..,
But every week im in awe of how well Walt is playing the safety posituon that he has only been playing for about 3 months if that.. As good as walt looks, it’s going to be Incredible to see how much better he looks in November after half a season of game time to get comfortable in his new position….Walt Wasnt planning to play Safety in OTAs.. I can’t even fathom how good he should look after this first year of safety experiemce and the entire next offseason training to be a safety… As amazing as he has looked. NEXT YEAR we should see him reach a new level of safety excellence and no city NEEDED it more than we did.
..
The safety position has become one Of the strengths of this team, and NO ONE would have, guessed,Walt could play this well, this soon…
,,,
A negative is that he has a history of getting Banged up and missing some playing time, so hopefully tHurmond puts the days of nagging injuries behind him and Jenk and Walt continue to grow into an elite safety tandem and go on to give us a 3-4yr run of good healthy, and top safety play..
,.
Walt has been a godsend, and I have to believe that he is so inexperienced that he has a ton of improving to do ahead Of him which puts the biggest smile on my face..
it takes 2 to equal one number 20.
loving our safety play!
Personally, I always thought Thurmond was a better player. Thurmond seemed to always be near the fumble, interception, whatever. He’s always been a wizard.
To hear some people in the Philly media, the Eagles barely squeaked out a win versus a bad team. The Eagles so far this season scored the most points on the Saints, and held them to their lowest score. Yet, they only won because they played a bad team. I don’t get it.
negativity sells – they can’t completely flip flop from the 4 weeks of stories and most don’t understand enough about football to understand what changes were made
Hmm, I always thought that ‘Sex’ sells.
No. You have to buy that.
Ah, my mistake.
well they are a really bad team, Im not getting high on this Eagles team yet, Ill wait. Nice win though and good to see adjustments
The defense has been good all season. They have been holding this team together until the offense can figure it out. If the offense gets it going over a few games, I think this can be a very good team.
Amazing that Philly fans can’t even recognize a quality defense and a good dc… lol I guess is been so long since Jim Johnsoms that eagle fans forgot what quality defense looks like.
..
I’m still waiting for a reporter to ask Chip If he has given any thought to replacing Billy Davis, it will be the angriest we have ever seen chip Kelly when he finds out these clueless media hacks think that Billy isn’t doing a great job,. Can’t wait to see chip insult a reporter when he finds out all this blatantly stupid people talk bad about our DC
Same bad team that beat dallas
I wouldn’t use dallas as any barometer
If this team is what you are using to get high, you should probably re-assess your method
Yea, exactly. If we lost to the Saints, we’d be the terrible team. But, we won, so we should be happy that we’re not a terrible team. In fact, we’re capable of dominating a terrible team. That’s not where we ultimately want to be. We want to be able to beat the NE’s of the world too. But, it’s a step in the right direction and we should be happy with the outcome. We’ll get our chance to go toe to toe with NE later in the year.
[…] Lawlor of IgglesBlitz.com breaks down the team’s 39-17 win […]
Beside the early OLine struggles, I feel that Sam and Chip’s 1st half struggles have been greatly due to the lack of pre-season reps for Sam as he rehabbed his knee. Coupled with TC injuries to Huff and Ertz (and Agholor? can’t remember), Sam is slowly building a chemistry with his receivers, and (hopefully) washing away the memories of his St. Louis struggles. As he settles into the design of this offense and gains confidence in his OLine and skill players, I expect to see more accuracy, touch, and timing with his throws. Sam can become the real deal.
He didnt solve anything with those 2 redzones interceptions. We have to be glad our defense took the ball away so often.
It’s concerning, so lets see if he can clean it up. He didn’t turn the ball over at all versus the Jets & Redskins. If he can be turnover free Monday, that’s a step in the right direction.
We all had way too unrealistic expectations for Sam right out of the gate. The guy hadn’t taken a meaningful snap in almost two years, had an entirely new set of weapons to throw to, some who were injured all preseason and he never got to develop a chemistry with, and a brand new offense to learn…we all should have seen a slow start coming. Let’s hope we’ve seen enough good moments to believe that he can get in a groove going down the stretch. Because, the talent is surely there.
This is encouraging.

I hate carson palmer though
hes on my fantasy team and thats his only saving grace with me.
I went to school with him. He is a solid guy and family man. I can’t stand the cardinals and their whining head coach, but CP is a good dude.
yeah but I hate him anyway sorry.
and only because he plays for Arizona
“Marques Colston has a separated shoulder, and could have structural damage.” to think he played through that — so tough
He probably was hit by Hiicks.
It was Maxwell, oddly enough.
Just read that Eli Manning led the league in red zone interceptions last year with 4. Bradford has 3. Already. I haven’t found an easy way to verify this or find red zone interceptions as a stat. I did find this rather nauseating chart:
http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/quarterback-rating-in-red-zone/2015/
SB’s yards/attempt, the most important QB stat, was 7.4 yesterday, well above his career average and right around dead-average in the L. Interestingly, in the WAS game it was 9.64, which would put him at 3rd in the L if sustained.
Y/A leaders: http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/yardsPerPassAttempt
Newsflash – In the first half, the Cowgirls sacked Brady repeatedly. In the 2nd half I don’t believe Brady was sacked again. Why? In the 2nd half Belichick brought in 3 TEs. They blocked the heck out of the DL, then Gronk spread wide and caught several passes.
FYI The Eagles are trying out a blocking TE today.
Great! Sign that blocking TD, then get the toughest cover in the league and the most accurate QB, and we’ll be set!
Just kidding, OD 🙂
surprised they didn’t go back to james casey who just got cut
Does this mean they aren’t liking Burton to get time?
was thinking earlier that Celek’s blocking might just be a key to Kelly’s run offense. As in, of course blocking TEs are a big help, and of course Celek is a good blocker, but i think I have just taken Celek’s good blocking for granted. Until watching Celek just not be himself the first few games and seeing the run offense be awful. Then Celek gets back to his old blocking self, and the run offense is productive.
Helps also of course to have Peters and Kelce playing like they used to.
Just wondering if a blocking TE is more critical for Kelly than for most other offensive schemers.
Important to Kelly definitely; and Belicheat.
CElek struggled with his blocking in September, but BARWIN said yesterday Celek blocked as well as any TE he ever seen and that Celeks bloclomg was Dominant yesterday…
.
I look forward to going back and watching it
We definitely ask a LOT from Celek in the run game! Not many teams ask their TE to routinely block the other teams best defensive lineman one-on-one and we do so routinely. It’s very sad to see him start his inevitable decline. For so long he was a guy who struggled with blocking and was more of a receiving TE, it’s been a pleasure to watch him become one of, if not the, best blocking TE in the business. Let’s hope that Ertz can get to even 75% as effective as Celek has been the last few years as a blocker.
Report:
.
1) 49ers are open to trading TE Vernon Davis…
..
2) The Patriots reinstated the two equipment managers after serving their Deflategate suspensions for blatantly cheating by circumventing the process and bringing balls to the bathroom after Refs Offiially inspected the Balls… What a joke, Pats keep, rubbing Roger Goodells knows in his own crap
..
Why would anyone want to trade for Vernon Davis? He is the poster child for “Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane”., doesn’t have the heart and toughness of a champion
I could see Dallas trading for him to try and get another target in the passing game.
be nice if eagles traded for him, what a red zone beast.
Hell no!! I want nothing to do with him, he is soft.. And lost his edge now that he isn’t sorrounded by all those tôugh bests in San fran.. He is like a bully, who, runs and cries when someone strands up to him and punches him in the mouth….. I’d be pretty surprised if Chip wanted anything to do with Vernon
what makes you tihnk he’s soft?
Basically I view him as someone who is ridiculuosly talented, with THAT much talent comes responsibility, and I to often feel that he isn’t making proper use of all that ability…. Very Costly mental mistakes in some big moments, feel like he lost the edge he had early in his career. Front Runner type who can look great when thngs are all going there way, but he isn’t someone I would want in our locker room when we are trying to stay together and fight our way out of a 1-3 start.
..
Maybe a change of scenary can light his fire, but he would have to go to a team like the Pats, I could just as easily see him go to a team like the Browns, take the money, and just pack it in like Dwayne BOWE
Vernon Davis takes over playoff games like you take over the comment section.
“Why would anyone want to trade for Vernon Davis? He is the poster child for “Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane”., doesn’t have the heart and toughness of a champion”
Can you quit it with this nonsense?
What do you, some guys from Philly, know about the “heart and toughness of a champion”?
we’ve all seen Rocky
HAH
On the second INT it looked to me like maybe Austin needed to cut left a lot sharper and continue getting separation (unless there was another defender waiting over that way, but it didn’t look like it). By running just the soft cut he allowed the DB to get underneath him.
yeah dbs undercut both those passes our WRs get 0 seperation
The guy was open on the first INT. The DB closed and made a play on a ball that was a little lazily placed.
lazily placed is a good way to put it
I agreed when watching it live. Haven’t seen the all-22 yet. But, that seemed like another instance of how WR play sometimes goes unnoticed and the blame falls on the QB. Either way, still thought it was a bad throw and bad decision by Bradford regardless of how Austin ran the route.
Brian Dawkins was just talking about that play on radio…he said he’s seen that a couple times in games this season from receivers and i have too…..I’m not sure if it was Austin again or Cooper (think Cooper) but later in the game it was the same type of route, and the receiver rounded out his route and didn’t make a sharp cut which caused the throw to look low and at the same time allows the DB to undercut it.
you know what QB did not look the least bit good yesterday?
Nick Foles.
More like Nick LOLs.
How long you been sitting on that one?
since the trade
Always boggles the mind how much outcome seems to play into public perception. I watched a Giants team last night that, for all intents and purposes, lost (at least should have lost) a prime time game to a complete dumpster fire of a team last night.
After giving up a long TD at the end of the game, where they made Colin Kapernick look like the second coming of Joe Montana, and we’re helped out by some poor clock management, they got the ball back deep in their own side of the field with about a minute 45 left in regulation and needing a TD to win.
Manning throws up a duck of a desperation pass that falls about a mile short of the mark and that I’m still not convinced wasn’t picked off. From my view it looked like the CB clearly had his hands under the ball, the ball clearly hits the front of his hands and bounces in towards his arms/body, there the ball hits off something (looked to me to be his arms) and bounces slightly forward before being secured by his hands. At no point, did I see it clearly hit the ground. I saw it hit his hands, and then I thought it bounced off his arms slightly and rocked forward again into his hands. But, I never saw a view where you could see it clearly hit the turf. It’s called an INT on the field, but is overturned despite the lack of indisputable evidence to the contrary.
Then they are helped out immensely by a pass interference call that brings the ball all the way down to the 8 yard line. Could have just as easily been a holding call and only given them 5 yards and a first down. Manning makes one of his patented back foot, hail mary throws to a well covered receiver who makes an insane catch in the endzone. And, today all the reporters are calling Manning that “rare breed of QB with exceptional DNA who has once again proven why he makes the big bucks.”
Yuck. Manning sucks. The guy is hands down one of the luckiest QBs I’ve ever seen play the game. And, if that INT goes the other way, everyone would talk about the same exact performance like it was proof that Manning is terrible and didn’t deserve his contract extension.
Embarressing just how bad the Niners are…. And watching the Giants have to squeek out a last second win against such a crappy Niners team certainly isn’t putting much fear into me going into this game.
..
Their top ranked run defense looked fraudulent getting its but kicked against Staley, Boone and Hyde….. I expect to see Demarcos breakout performamce as an eagle leading us to a big Division win on Monday night,, Assuming our OL performs like it did against the Jets and Saints, and Murray sees how much meat he left on the bone on the game fill of the saints game. I’m expecting a Big, 130yard, 2TD performance by Demarco on Monday night
..
I happen to thnk we are a very bad matchup for the Giants, our Front 7 should be too much for their OL, their WRs are all battered. A big part of the Giamts passing attack will be Vereen and Larry Donnell, but I like how we match up against TEs and RBs in the passing game.. Jenkins and BARWIN on Donnell, hicks on Vereen,. This would be a great matchup to have Kendricks for, but I hVe no idea if he is planning on playing or not this week,,, fortunately im so happy with Mufasa, and Jordan “Baby Simba” Hicks that im done worrying about when KEndricks and Kiko will come back..as long as Mufasa and Baby simba stay healthy they can sit out as much as they want.. I just ask that when they do come back, make sure they are strong enough to stay in the lineup and not go back on the injured list the next week.
..,
This isn’t very different, from the OL our Front 7 dominated during our shut out of the Giants just a year ago… I think the Giants will need a Monster game from their WRs to beat us, if their health permits it…
..
I just really feel like we are a bad match up for the Giants, I think the way the skins match up with us is a bigger challenge for us than the Giiants.. Chip has basicallly smacked COUGHLIN around since chip got here.. Isn’t our only loss to the Giamts the game we had to play Barkley during his rookie year?
Harbaugh showing right now how big of a fool the owners are by posting 3 of the most impressive games in college
no matter, every game against the giants is crazy one way or another, anything happens all the time. that’s why its my favorite NFC East game every year. nothing more fun then beating those guys
After week 1 he was called the “84 million dope”….now he has the “rare DNA” People go whichever way the wind blows
Yeah, Eli has to be some sort of hidden clause in his brother’s Faustian bargain.
It’s was a solid game by Bradford. NOTHNG special, but better than a lot of people are giving him credit for. We need him to play better, but it was a good step in that direction. Heck, he played better than most QBs yesterday, it was. Better game than guys like Matt Ryan, Flacco, Russell Wilson… But I don’t really expect to see a finished product, I need to see constant growth, and yesterday was a good step towards becoming the QB we need Sam to become…perfect example of what a game of inches it is,. What was a solid game, was really just a few inches away from being a great game… Those two INTs were pretty bad, doubt anyone would dispute that SAM isn’t capable of making those throws. It wasn’t throws that require a high degree of difficulty. If he overthrows the first one instead of grossly under throwing it, good chance it’s a Td…Chip and the Offense put SAM in position to pretty easily have a 4 TD game if he converts those..
..
The kid threw more than 40 passes and still managed to compete over 71%. That’s not easy to do in this league.. He went somethng like 32 of 45, if our WRs DONT drop 3 or 4 easy passes, and SAM makes those two easy TD throws instead of INTs, we would be talking about something like 37 of 45 over 75% and 4 TDs…. so while it wasn’t a special performance, it’s exciting to see the position chip and the offense put SAM in, a slightly better performance on 5 passes by the Qb and WR and we would be talking about a spectacular game
..
Again, not a finished product, but a good step towards what we are tryimg to become, and there was plenty good to take away for the game, and plenty to improve on.
.,
It’s sucks to see SAM throw two terrible INTs. But it’s great to see that it didn’t unravel him, he put them behind him and was able to lead us to 39 points and a big win.
..
Kid threw over 70% on 40 plus passes
..
He spread the ball out to practically the entire offense
..
We saw SAM step up and make the saints pay for turnovers converting them into points
..
We didn’t see a bunch of X plays and quick strikes. for the most part we,were driving on the saints defense. Great to see us pick up so many 1st downs, and driving up and down the field all day, asking our defense to only play for 25 minutes which is pretty amazing to see all the defense production we managed in only 25 minutes
.,
Not a Great game, but absoluteky a GREAT building Block, and a lot to like from yesterday’s performamce from SAM…… But for it to really matter, we need to see SAM and the offense build on this game and play even better next week against the Giants… We can’t take a step backwards and lose to the Giants, not to mention that 0-3 in the division is flat out unacceptable..
Sam really looked more like a leader at QB finally for the first time.
that’s big
Agreed. That was the part that had me the most worried about Sam. He doesn’t need to be in everyone’s face like Brady or rah-rah like Rodgers, but a QB needs to be a leader, and I hadn’t seen evidence. Getting stared down by Demarco was concerning. This was good evidence of leadership, though.
yeah finally, I thought he was going to be a problem, but looked the part yesterday for sure
Startin to come together, Pepper. Startin to come together.
You begin to see him getting more comfortable in this offense. Just look at Arizona and how long it took for Palmer to fully settle in arians offense.
After the buy week, this offense will be scary good once the wrs learn to catch and Kelly gives Mathews all the carries
it could be said that Bradford throwing 2 picks in the end zone and coming back and playing well afterwards was pretty great, all things considered…
him rolling out and throwing is pretty sweet too
Definitely something to build on. Not the finished product yet that would justify the trade and his salary. But, definitely enough that if people don’t see the potential once he works into form, they’re just haters. The guys playing fairly decent so far and only needs to clean up a couple misfires a game to really take that next step.
has anyone read the interview article on Dez in Rolling Stone?
pretty interesting stuff, makes me think worse of the Cowboys and better of Bryant. you should check it out. what a childhood he had.
Crazy how much the Eagles have had success playing Cox as pass rushing 4-3 de in nickle.
I mean Cox is over 300 pounds and is even beating tackles with pure speed
the strip-sack fumble recovery was a phenomenal feat. Drag a QB to the ground then pounce back up onto a loose football nearly 5 yards down field immediately. Incredible athleticism for a 300 pound man.
Greatest Eagles dl since white with all respect to brown imo
from an eye-test perspective, I’m not sure I can disagree. Just a shame his role doesn’t allow him to become a house-hold name. Not weighing in on whether he is being miss-used or any of that, he’s killing it. It’s just not getting him noticed like he should be to get into that conversation among the greats.
Cox is getting used perfectly imo. Sure he might pop up more for the crappy national media if he purely played 3 tech, but the fact that we use him from 0 to 7 tech is great (he is abusing linemen at every position)
On a side note: The greatest offensive line ever assembled looks pretty pedestrian last couple of weeks
well we played better yesterday
Well played
no QB and no real receiving threat allows teams to stack the box
Patriots were playing man on the outside receivers while crowding the middle of the field.
sounds like what we intend to do on defense every week haha
Yup.. And until Romo and Dez come back, the Pats blueprint is what the Cowboys are going to face each week… NO one will respect their outside WRs, and they will respect them even less as long as Weedman is the QB…heard some rumors that they will use the bye week to switch to Matt Cassel, but I’m not sure how much of a difference he will make playing with such pedestrian skill players..
..
I’m SOOO thoroughly enjoying this cowboy season thanks to “baby Simba” Jordan Hicks… Watching the Cowboys offense in this horrible state shooting bunch of blanks gives me great pleasure. I’m going to sit an enjoy every single cowboy game until Dez and Romo get back
4 more losses and they might as well tell Dez and Romo to wait until next year.
Why rush back to a lost season?
shut them down!
They have always been over rated. They are.legitimately great at run Blocking, but I been talking about their pass blocking limitatiòns for years, Mainly that Ronald Murray is a pigeon pass blocker that can be picked oh, and RT Doug Free is a terrible pass blocker, which is why it’s not a coincidence that Jason Witten is usually Linning up next to Free in passing situations… You can’t be a great pass blocking line when 2 of your 5 Lineman are AVERAGE AT BEST in pass blocking.,. Our Front 7 can exploit that and rough up their QB,,but they are legit elite run blocking OL… Doug Free is much better Run blocker than pass blocker..
…
we BETTER step up and out play the Giants OL… Need to see Fletcher and our Front 7 kick the Giamts ass like they did Last year.. Justin PUGH got hurt last night, I dont know if he ended up going back in the game or if it was a serious injury that could Cause him to miss the Eagles game… The Giants rely on Rookie Flowers as their LT.. For a rookie he is doing a solid job holding up. But playimg against the Niners Front 7 is very different than playing against Cox, bennie and the Eagles Front 7….
..
I’d like to see our Fromt 7 be one of the main reasons we beat the Giants next week.. It’s time for cox and our Front 7 to get comfortable and start to comletely dominate Games…
..
Can’t wait Til we get to play the Cowboys again, inexplicably, we play really well at “Jerry World” and they play well at the linc
Cowboys defense looked like it quit in the second half. They weren’t even trying to tackle Gronk
Yeah, I also got that impression..
.,
That’s what #culture gets you… Your CULTURE DOESNT mean much when things are going well, but CULTURE is EVERYTHING when you are facing all types of adversity during a 1-3 start
…
A few players got after the media after the game and told the media that they don’t understand this team because when everyone was slinging shit at them, taking shots at everyone starting with chip, while the sky was falling, inside Novacare we were just as positive and United as ever, no one pointed any fingers, guys stuck together and new they had a lot of talent and that omce they Gelled everything would turn around… And that’s all because of YOUR CULTURE!
..
So many new faces, guys haven’t gone thru the adversity together, you don’t know how guys would react to such a rough start in Philly where EBERYONE makes it the end of the world, but because chip stressed Charechter in all the Players he chose to bring into our locker room, we are able to stay together, endure so much adversity and Negativty in this city, hopefully overcome it instead of letting it break you…
..
Hicks will put the D on his back, and destroy Eli and the OL.
With some help from his Cox.
Baby Simba playing Along side Mufasa
To quote the Terminator: “they come at you and never, ever stop until you are dead!”
“It’s what they do. It’s all they do. They will reach down your throat and tear your heart out!”
I love playing eli, we match up so good against him.,, we don’t even want to sack Eli, we just want to get really close amd pressure him, eli is known to rush his throws and hand over a few INTs..
..
Even when we aren’t getting sacks, we almost always get a lot of pressure on the QB which is perfect for playing against Eli,,.
,,
Thinking Jenkins and Walt both picking off Eli on Monday, but the big story will be Demarco Ryan’s 150 total yards, 2TD game.
All that meat on the bone getting rancid…better hurry up.
i think they have looked pedestrian throughout preseason up until now. We pushed the Saints around pretty good as we should have, but Dallas had trouble running on them and generally moving their lineman. They had two big runs by Randle and Dunbar which really inflated their rushing total
If you guys don’t follow Fran you are doing twitter wrong.
Mathews is pretty good
I know some people hate the thought, but I would still love to see Kelly go full pistol spread option with a kaepernick type on the NFL.
I think he would break all sort of rushing records
I’d be curious for it too. RGIII looked like he was going to terrorize the NFL for a decade until…well thank god Washington is a joke. Just keep a few spare guys. Seems like all the kids in college come up with the skill set for it.
He’d also break his legs.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.
And WE mean NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Yeah boy!
And: SB actually used the hard count to get an off-side this week.
I mean wide open, wide open.
THIS….all night against the giants and their slow poke linebackers….they are pretty banged up in that area too, no idea who they will throw out this week
they should throw them all out really. right in the garbage can
I’m more looking forward to abusing the Giants talentless O-line.
They have played pretty well…..I considered Flowers the worst pick of the first round, but he’s been ok for a rookie starting at left tackle
We still should get pressure on Eli
geez Foles could have made that throw
And?
oh and Sanchez too
So?
that’s how open Celek was.
I could’ve made that throw.
means a great design, that lesser talents could have also made such an easy throw.
thx
oh and trade back for foles and start sanchez
No, thx
nah
YES!!!!
Also good to note that when the video pauses to illustrate the pocket Bradford has, he’s also halfway through his throwing motion before Celek has even stopped and turned for the ball. Easy to do when he’s that wide open, but still good to see Bradford anticipating and throwing early before the defenders get there.
Really Great to see us starting to have some success running in short yardage situations, even being able to punch it in on Goal line runs. Great to see KELCE get it together and perform against a Mamoufh of a man in Jon Jenkins
..
The Saints have some rookie Linebackers who are making a Lot of noise, but Baby Simba Hicks was the best rookie LB on the field yesterday… This kid seems like he has a magnet in him that attracts every fumble an opponent lays on the turf. How many fumbles has he recovered so far, I counted at least 3, forced at least 1 fumble this year.
…
Nice to finally get some revenge on the saints. This win Wasnt as great as eliminating them from the playoffs like they did to us ending our season.. But this was a pretty hurtful loss to them, we dropped them to 1-4 which is bad enough. But even worse when they play Ina Divisipn with two undefeated teams.. If the saints beat us, the Falcons game on Thursday becomes important to them. But at 1-4 now, even beating the Falcons would still leave them Burried from contention in that division.. I’m happy that we got some revenge on the saints. Bennie, and Cox got some geat revenge on the veteran saints OL picking on logan when he was just a rook and cox was in year 2.. I’m happy for Macolm Jenkins to get a win against a team that didn’t even try to re sigń him, kicked him to the curb and gave BYRD like 3 times what Jenkins would have got… jenkins has played every game for us and is in the middle of an all pro safety Campaign and being one of the leaders of our Defemse, and BYRD hasn’t even played 5 games for the saints. Even worse. Walter Thurmond has basically become the safety JARIUS Bryd was supposed to be lol….I’m happy For Sproles and his wife who was really pissed off by how the saints treated her husband…. Happy for Tobin and the OL
,,
Happy that Huff showed a pulse, hopefully this gets huff going
.
happy for Demarco who started to get going..
.
happy for marcus smith who played 20 snaps and helped contribute to our eat defensive performance of the year pressuring Brees on Thurmonds INT
you could say we essentially eliminated them from the playoffs.
and at least Cooper got to drop one just in case
That brings joy to my heart.. Heck we might have ended the Sean Peyton era in New Orleans
You know what’s also really great GE? It’s having fans, myself included, engaged and excited about the Eagles’ future. Boy, it’s been tough for me to see a Chip team poorly execute as badly as we’ve seen.
I liked the way the game expressed itself
“September can be extremely misleading”
Defensive turnovers since 2013:
Eagles 72
Seattle 70
Wow
where’s our ring?!
or any acknowledgement that our d is studly except on 3rd and long
That’s a pretty big “except”, though…
How about we start with respecting the job Billy Davis has done molding these young players into beasts and going From a 4-3 to a 3-4
..
More turnovers than Seattle D
.
Second in the league in sacks last year
.
Top rated run defense for like two years now, giving up like 3 yards a carry this year
..
Malcolm Jenkins easily playing the best ball of his career under Billy
..
Once again, Billy Davis took a corner and has him performing like a top safety which he has been doing since Cardinal days
..
bIlly Davis had done a great job with so many young defenders
..
Shame he doesn’t get the credit he deserves., instead dumb fans dwell on the 3 plAys he would like back in each game as if that doesn’t happen to every single coach who calls plays every single game.. lol such a “knowledgable fanbase” doesn’t even realize the job our DC has done
..
I said by the end of year 3 we will be recognized as a top ranked defense and that the next time we would see a quality Philly defense, Billy Davis would be our DC
..
How you like them apples? Show some friggin respect!
Midway through the game New Orleans was still 6 of 12 on 3rd down.
We still yield huge receiving days to an endless string of players.
Davis did a good job yesterday, but that doesn’t undo a ton of other ills.
Doesn’t matter, nothing Billy Davis can do to not suck on this site
5 NFL players have 2+ fumble recoveries: Jordan Hicks and Darrelle Revis (3); Fletcher Cox, Desmond Trufant, and Von Miller (2). #
Careful, fumble recoveries are always just a coin flip.
The #Eagles defense has allowed 103 points in 5 games, fewest in the NFC East.
look out NY
any deep balls sunday? i don’t remember any
No, just Cox.
ohhhhh
If Eagles beat Giants next Monday night and Jets beat Redskins, Eagles are in sole possession of first place in NFC East… after 1-3 start.
*when
Wow, is that possible? Can the Jets get ‘er done?
Todd Bowles is a can-do type of dude.
If this happens Mike, I am going to be flabbergasted and drunk.
jet are the perfect team. Skins have no WRs, jets have pass rush and one of the best secondaries in the league. i expect multiple picks from cousins. jets coming of bye you know they’ve been preparing.
The Jets played one bad game (vs. us) and are coming off of a bye week. I like their odds. Who the F on Washington is covering Marshall and Decker?
And is Garcon (and maybe DeSean) going to beat Reavis?
I’d better buy more whisky.
jets did not play a bad game, we just beat them cause we are more better
Great matchup for the jets..
..
Wait when does Sheldon Richardson come
Back? He should have served his 4 game suspension for drugs or alcohol already.
Has Sheldon ever even been punished for driving like 150 mph with a kid in the car? After Roger Goodells balls are sitting in a jar in Tom
bRadys trophy room, if Goodell did suspend him, which I don’t recall him doing since he was neutered, Sheldon better appeal The suspension with Goodell losing all his power and get back on the field to hit Cousins
Regardless of where Goodell’s gonads are located, he is getting paid $40 Million a year. He can afford to buy a new set.
skins at jets…
Wouldn’t our record be tied with Giants or are you also including the head to head tie breaker we would have by beating them?
..
jets are coming off a bye week amd that game I believe is in New York and the jets are a touch matchup for skins on a few levels .
..
Jets may be the best defense Cousins has faced
..
Jordan Reed prob wont play, if Desean doesn’t play that leaves a top jets secondary to focus all their attention on Garcon and Crowder
..
Will Culliver be back? Probably don’t want to play against Brandon Marshall without Culliver or Hall…
..
Todd Bowles has two week to prepare for Cousins, Jets better beat the skins at home..
btw i’m stealing tweets from bryn swartz
These past two years, a big percentage of the time when a DB gets an INT or a OLB gets a sack, you offen hear the player praise Cox for doing the
Dirty work that led to the big play.. Finally Cox turned the faucet on yesterday and the stats came pouring out…yet the first thing Cox made sure to do when the media asked about it was give credit to the secondary because Brees gets the ball out so fast that you need good
Coverage on the back end to get Brees to hold on to it long enough to sack him.,, obviously haven’t seen any all 22 coverage yet, but when Brees tried to throw at them, for the most part we saw tight coverage from Max and Nolan Cooks is a dangerous weapon and with the exception of the 40 yarder that didn’t lead to any points, we were able to keepn Cooks In check. BRees has shown a growing connection with
Snead and we kept him in check too…. Cant wait for the all 22 to get a good idea on just how well our Corners played yesterday..
..
Anyone notice Rowe? As great of a performance as it was by the defense I don’t think I notice rowe at all during the entire game, but I a
Saw BIGS on the field plenty.. I figured that if Rowe would play, Brees would tried to go after him.. I even saw Maragos on the field.. With the way Rowe had played I thought he would earn some playing time even when Maragos and Bigs are available.,..
..
Wonder how Denzel Rice is developing in practice? Shame that we aren’t seeing JaCorey
rowe played garbage time, gave up second td
I guess that woudk mean Maragos and bigs still ahead of him in rotation?
bigs yes, rowe needs time hopefully there will be more garbage time
Like the 2 DBs Donnell was wearing gave up the TD last night?
The only way they could have played him any tighter would have been to crawl inside his uniform. As much as it hurts to type this, Eli’s odd face doesn’t matter when he can throw into those miniscule windows and the Gnats receivers somehow catch the ball. Now we have odd faces!
http://www.bambilashes.co.uk/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Baby-frowning.jpg
I think Rice is on the active roster not PS
Seattle gave up a first-round pick (and more) for both Percy Harvin and Jimmy Graham. Failed with Harvin. Failing with Graham.
trade for receiving tight end then ask him to block a lot. shocking its not working
Not too shocking. Like a lot o teams, Seattle is trying to rebuild their offensive line,
A starting C *and* a 1st.
Unbelievable.
How many DeMarco Murray to the Chiefs for XXXXX posts have we had today?
none, but that’d be smart, except that ryan stays hurt.
as soon as we traded Murray, Ryan would pull a hammy or twist an ankle.
interesting. murray for maclin? ha
How about a “gun in the mouth with a pulled trigger for all of the Chiefs” post? Their choke loss to the putrid Bears ended my run in my suicide pool.
Not that you’re bitter or anything.
If the Chiefs would like to mail me a check for $1k and the ring from the WIP pool, I’ll call it even.
Ahem…time’s yours.
that sucks, even with the point spread i would have said KC was a lock yesterday
They were favored by 10. T-E-N. That ain’t really the type of circumstance where a team loses in the NFL.
Unless you lose 75% of your offense to injury.
Quitters. Bums. Layabouts.
Checkdown Alex Smith couldn’t pull the game out with a flurry of 3 yard passes?
especially being a 1-3 team at home needing a win against a bad bears team who were also banged up…not only did they not cover but lost the game….they are not happy with Andy in KC
With good reason.
He can’t coach
Just putting this out there: you realize “suicide pool” is just a phrase, and not a course of action, right?
Saints defense was on the field for 84 snaps at Philly.
CBS guys just gave the Eagles a big vote of confidence. Boomer, Beuerlein and Rich Gannon all just said they think Philly is the best team in the division despite the slow start
Exciting to hear, but that is still a version of damning us with faint praise.
nice, do we have to keep playing?
Eagles on pace to allow just 22 QB sacks. That would tie their franchise record for a 16-game season. Pretty incredible.
do you know what year is the record now?
they must have a helluva o line. very confusing first few games.
Lol funny how the Tyrod Taylor groupies climbed back under their bridges..
..
“September football can be extremely misleading”…
That dude barely had 100 yards of passing yesterday.
hard w/ no running backs, and your best WR out. but they still got the W. TT not the problem w/ that team. Plus guy going from never playing to starting.
That’s totally fair.
TT as a good QB is not however; he’s just a guy.
yeah even mcown is putting up huge numbers in consecutive games
No one has played with less run game than Bradford has a few times this season when RBs didn’t even matter because they were getting hit behind the line of scrimmage each time, yet I never seen Bradford struggle to throw for 100 yards.. That type of extreme ineptitude is typically reserved for the dumbest under developed passers like RG3 and kapernick,,,, really bad
.
I haven’t seen enough to make any definitive judgements about the guy, but that’s why I find it so laughable when people start getting carried away with the kid after two games, LOL all the talk about how chip could have had Tyrod LOL just nonsensical fanboy crap, annointing dudes after two games,,,
..
Shady has been hurt all year so I don’t understand the
The recent flaming of chip for trading shady for an injured ILB… I’ll laugh if Kiko ends up playing more games than shady this year..
..
Maclin has been the king of meaningless garbage time snaps, Maclin has looked like the “prevent defense killer”.. His stats have been about as meaningful as the late TD the saints scored yesterday..,
…
A lot has to play out before we can start to get an idea of this season.
Lol how does that even happen?
..,.
Rex Ryan is awesome, he comes in talking so much shit, carnival barker, stirs up a bunch of excitement that lasts about 3 weeks, until his players start to view him as a buffoon and everything starts spiralimh out of control…
..
Last weeks press conference was so embarrassing, he looked like a defeated man, grasping at straws, he said “I’ll take a team that will fight any day”
Like 20 times til he didn’t know what else to say, it was painfully embarrassing trying to use moral Victories as an excuse two weeks in a row.. You can’t talk about moral victories and say you are proud of your team after they commit 18 penalties which is a blatant blatant reflection of a poorly coached and unprepared team… He kept talking and he didn’t even know what to say, I felt really uncomfortable watching that press confrence, I was embarrassed for him..,really really pathetic
To be fair, every single Eagles fan was twice as bad when Bradford lit it up in pre-season, which can be even more misleading.
September still = September
Pre-season games were primarily played in august this year…
The Eagles on Sunday tied the franchise record with 34 first downs. They also had 34 against the Colts on Nov. 15, 1981.
That was really impressive.
that is really crazy considering i would not be surprised at all if the cowboys game or one of the other first games had the fewest first downs in eagles history
Eagles will be back in black jersey for MNF! Lets Go!
best news of the day…just need to find out how Agholor’s MRI turned out
Black out!! Let’s go!
Nailed it!!
Ray Lewis: “What we was”
on national tv
D3FB!!! Max Tuerk out for season with torn knee ligament…..maybe falls in draft : )
You would think, but it didn’t hurt Ceddy Ogubedhi this year, he still went 21st. I have no clue where he’s going to go now. The two biggest questions are
1. Where do teams think he can play. If they they see him as a tackle, especially a possible LT, he could still go very early.
2. The combine. How long are his arms will play a big role into where he projects, and he needs to get up to 300lbs by then.
It sucks because he may need a redshirt year, the upshot is you get a guy who has amazing positional versatility with pro bowl upside.
He’s definetly a Chip Kelly guy though
-Pac 12
-2 time captain

-The answer to “what would a Kelce and Lane love child look like?”
Things I’m glad I saw: Bradford working from under center. Although they ran it everytime they were in the formation, I can’t wait to see when they pull the string on the defense with a play action. Bradford using a hard count to see the D tip their hand. I’m not sure, but it also looks like there was the use of audibles too. I’m happy to see this because this is something the players have been wanting and it’s good to see Kelly show everyone that he’s not as stubborn as he is made out to be.
anyone think vick can win a game?
should have last thursday…Tomlin lost it for him
Rivers is going to carve this secondary up….wonder if Boykin gets a chance
Steelers corner gets hurt, another DB replaces him not named Boykin
yeah I don’t get it honestly, he’d be playing here.
Who’s our nickel CB again?
Who cares? He’s #justanickel, right?
Jenkins
It’s about the draft pick.
Eagles-Giants MNF commercial gets the Sopranos opening theme….i like it!
leveon bell gotta be in best back conversation
who’s even the best right now?
AP
Watching San Diego kind of puts our offensive line struggles into perspective. Even at their worst, our oline was still decent at pass protection. Rivers doesn’t seem to have any time.
yea offensive line is really hurting them….they should be beating this steelers team. Haley has no faith in Vick
Great example of a receiver rounding his route right there by Malcolm Floyd, Gave the Steelers 7 points when DB undercut it and took it to the house
I thought Austin could have flattened out his route as well
So, both Mathis and Boykin are getting less of the thing they wanted out of Philly to seek more of. The grass isn’t always greener argument gained some traction this year.
