More Moves
Posted March 24th, 2026 | 2 Comments »Howie Roseman continued his shopping spree, adding a pair of veteran players to the offense. Howie isn’t shopping at the big stores, though. He keeps adding from the bargain bin. That doesn’t mean the moves are bad. He’s just looking to get the most out of his salary cap dollars.
The Eagles are re-signing OL Fred Johnson to a one-year deal, per source. pic.twitter.com/l9AvBUTPST

Good move. This gives the Eagles insurance at OT. This will not affect their plans to draft an OT early, possibly in the first round. That OT would be the long-term replacement for Lane Johnson. Fred is back to give the Eagles an OT who can step in right away in 2026 if needed. There is also the possibility there is a run on OTs and Howie isn’t able to land one early. He could have to take one who is more of a project in the middle rounds. If so, Fred helps that a lot because he gives you a short term answer.
Howie wasn’t done with that.
The #Eagles aren’t done adding, signing WR Elijah Moore to a 1-year deal, source said.
Still just 25 years old, Moore lands on his fourth team and is just a season removed from 100 targets with the #Browns. pic.twitter.com/2rbNUjvsvl

This is an interesting move. Moore only played in 9 games last year so his numbers were off. Over the first four years of his career, Moore averaged 50 catches per season. He is at the best with the ball in his hands. The new offense is built on yards after the catch so Moore makes a lot of sense from that perspective.
New #Eagles WR Elijah Moore only played in 9 games last season with the Bills and was targeted just 17 times (9 catches, 112 yards) but his best reps came on in and out breakout routes from the slot. Of his 193 offensive snaps last season, 76 came from the slot.
Depth signing… pic.twitter.com/22SmvBe3ah

Devin is right about this being a depth signing. Moore could be part of a good WR corps, but he will have to earn his spot this summer. This is a good opportunity for him and makes sense for the Birds. The team still should add a receiver in the draft.
There is an x-factor here. Moore is very close with AJ Brown. Some will see this as a move to help keep AJ happy. I think that is a side benefit. The focus is on Moore as a football player. Joe Douglas, who is back working for the Eagles, drafted Moore when he was the GM of the Jets. That certainly factors in as well.
These signings, as well as other recent moves, have made the roster draft proof, so to speak. Howie doesn’t have to take any position. He’s got the flexibility to move up if he wants or even to move back. Howie still needs to add young talent to the offense (OT, OG, WR, TE), but he doesn’t have to force a pick if the board doesn’t play out favorably for the Eagles. I happen to think this draft class matches up well with the Eagles needs, but we’ve seen that before and it still hasn’t worked out. There will be a run on a certain position and if you’re past that run you miss out.
