Let’s Talk Practice Squad
Posted June 14th, 2026 | No Comments »We tend to focus on the 53-man roster, but the 16-man practice squad should not be overlooked. It is a way to supplement your roster with a combination of developmental players and key veterans who can be elevated to play when needed.
Let’s take a look at who might make the initial PS.
QB – none
RB – Dameon Pierce
I have the Eagles going light at RB on the roster so they would definitely have at least one RB here. I went with Pierce over Elijah Mitchell and Carson Steele. One of them will hopefully play well enough to outright win the job.
WR – Britain Covey, Elijah Moore, Quez Watkins
The team put Covey on the PS last year and elevated him as needed at PR. I’m guessing they do that again. Moore can help in practice and be elevated as needed. Watkins has value because of his speed.
TE – EJ Jenkins
Jenkins had a good spring and could push for a roster spot if the team wants to go heavy at TE. Dae’Quon Wright has good potential and could make sense, but I can see the Eagles trying to get him on IR. He wasn’t able to work out at the Combine due to an injury.
OL – Michael Jordan, Willie Lampkin, Myles Hinton, Jake Majors
Jordan was recently signed and could easily make the roster. I think the key will be how Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens look this summer. If they are back to normal, you hate to waste a roster spot on a journeyman OG. I anticipate Drew Kendall being the top interior OL off the bench. Lampkin is an interesting player because of his ability to play with good leverage and get movement. Hinton has played OT and OG this spring. Majors is a solid athlete and should be a good fit in the new scheme. There is a good chance the team will shuffle guys in and out of the PS. Cameron Williams and Hinton could come and go on a regular basis.
DL – Gabe Hall, Zion Wilson
Hall could make the roster if Ty Robinson struggles this summer. Hall played well last summer after struggling as a rookie. Wilson is a player the Eagles jumped on as soon as he became available so obviously they have serious interest in him.
Edge – none
LB – none
S – Andre Sam, Maximus Pulley
Vic Fangio likes Sam, who has been with the Eagles for a couple of years. Pulley is a UDFA who made a ton of plays in college. I’m excited to see him in action this summer. He has good instincts, good ball skills and plays the passing lanes well. That’s what you want in a safety.
CB – Ambry Thomas, Brandon Johnson, Kapena Gushiken
Thomas has a good combination of size and speed. Johnson offers depth at nickel and maybe safety. Gushiken is a terrific athlete with a lot of potential. The Eagles have to figure out if he’s a CB, NB, or safety.

This is great.
This is just a fantastic episode, especially for those of us who followed the 1998 draft closely at the time. Thanks @FDuffyNFL and @BryanBroaddus https://t.co/ME4Vw5MAgo

The 1998 draft laid a good foundation for Andy Reid when he took over in 1999.
LT Tra Thomas
MLB Jeremiah Trotter
CB/RS Allen Rossum
DL Brandon Whiting
LB Ike Reese
Not too shabby.

New on @AthlonSports: Now that the @eagles have traded A.J. Brown, what will their offense look like? A lot of talented receivers for Jalen Hurts, but perhaps without a No. 1 target. It’s going to be on Sean Mannion to make it work. https://t.co/L5u8iv97k1
