PS Game 2 – Preview
Posted August 22nd, 2026 | No Comments »The Eagles starters got their work in this week in joint practices. Tonight’s game will focus on the 2’s and 3’s. I don’t think there are a lot of roster spots still up for grabs, but playing time and practice squad spots are still available. The game is important to part of the roster.
QB – Neither Tanner McKee nor Andy Dalton played well last week. They were better in practices this week. Still, both guys could use a good showing as they fight for the #2 job. I didn’t like their decision-making last week so that’s an area I’ll watch closely tonight. Cole Payton made plays with his legs last week. Yhe goal this time out will be for him to function more smoothly within the play structure.
WR – None of the receivers stood out last week. Darius Cooper would benefit from a bounce-back game as he tries to carve out a role on offense. Hollywood Brown had a good week of practice. It would be good to see him make a play or two in the game.
TE – Cam Latu and EJ Jenkins are trying to make their case to be the #4 TE. Latu is the better STer and is more versatile. Jenkins has better size and is the better receiver. Grant Calcaterra missed time due to injury so he might not play. Eli Stowers caught 3 passes last week. He had a big play in practice. There are some good flashes. The big thing will be seeing improvement when he blocks on the move. Don’t hesitate before contact. Run through your target. That’s Football 101. Be aggressive. Be physical.
OL – Most of the spots are set. There is still work to be done. Markel Bell is trying to show he is worthy of playing this year. Every rep is good for him. Willie Lampkin is trying to show that he is also ready to see game action. Rookie Micah Morris had a solid debut. He’ll try to build on that so he can secure a roster spot. Cam Williams needs a good showing to keep hopes of a PS spot alive.
DL – Ty Robinson is playing his best football. Another good outing will build confidence in him, from teammates and the coaches. Gabe Hall is behind him. Hall flashed last week, but needs to has to be more physical this time out. Rookie Zion Wilson has NT potential. I expect Uar Bernard to play more this week. He showed functionality last week and it would be great to see him build on that.
Edge – Josh Weru will be the focus here. He showed real potential last game. Run defense was a weak spot so we’ll see if he’s able to improve on that. I hope rookie Keyshawn James-Newby is able to play. It would be great to see where he’s at since injuries have limited him this summer.
LB – This could be our chance to see Chance Campbell in action. We know Vic Fangio likes him. Rookie Deontae Lawson showed promise vs the Ravens. He needs to do a better job of taking on blocks this time out. Other teams will watch this group. The Eagles surplus could lead to a trade.
SAF – Maximus Pulley and Kashena Gupiken both played well last week. Another good week will boost their bids for roster spots. I think both guys have legit shots to make it.
CB – Kelee Ringo desperately needs to have a good game. The clock is ticking on him. Mac McWilliams was up and down in Baltimore. We’ll see if he plays outside or just as the nickel this week. Newly added Isaiah Bolden flashed in practice. We’ll see what he does in a game setting.
ST – Rocco Underwood needs a good game if he wants to secure a job. Jake Elliott missed a couple of FGs in practice. It would be good to see him get a chance or two in the game.
*****
The offense was a mess last week. It would be good to see improvement. Third downs were awful last week. Penalties were an issue. Errant throws and dropped passes hurt the passing game. The offense needs to be cleaner and execute better.

#Eagles have waived/injured WR Johnny Wilson.
They also signed C Zeke Correll and WR Brandon Hayes and placed Tariq Castro-Fields on the Injured Reserve List
