The season is finally here. And the greatest mystery of the 21st century is over. Andy Dalton is the backup QB.

Tanner McKee will be the emergency third QB.

There are no real surprises. With Britain Covey elevated for the game, there wasn’t a need to have Elijah Moore active.

Willie Lampkin is active and it will be interesting to see if he plays on offense and/or special teams.

Ty Robinson is active. We’ll have to wait and see if he gets some reps. It would be good to see what he can do in a real game.

Let’s circle back to the QB situation. Neither QB had a good summer. The coaches are obviously higher on Dalton than McKee right now. I don’t know what McKee did or didn’t do this offseason, but this feels crazy. Let’s hope Jalen Hurts stays healthy and this is much ado about nothing.

The Commanders will be without a couple of young WRs but have a good group of veterans so the young guys can sit and watch.

Mobile QBs have been giving defenses fits today. Both Hurts and Jayden Daniels can run so that doesn’t give a major advantage to either team. It does mean to be prepared to be frustrated on some plays when Daniels wins with his legs.

The Eagles are the better team and this is a game they should win. They’re at home. They’re healthier. They have more coaching continuity. But opening day can lead to some crazy results. Be prepared for the unexpected.
