Gameday – CAR at PHI

The Flyers ended their losing streak on Saturday. Maybe the Eagles can do the same today. It feels like the game-winning drive in Tennessee was years ago. We’ll see if Nick Sirianni can push the right buttons to get the most out of his team.

DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks are active so Tanner McKee will have targets to get the ball to. There will be plays to be made. Will he have the protection he needs? Drew Kendall is active. He’s wearing a brace and trying to see if he can start. Quickness is a key to his game so that knee must be right for him to be effective. At the least he will be an emergency backup. I saw some clips of him moving and thought he looked okay.

Let’s hope McKee gets the support he needs so that we can see what he can do. The Eagles struggled against top defensive units the past two weeks. Carolina has a porous defense so there will be chances to make plays. A good showing is needed, to help the overall team and to give some confidence to everyone playing or watching.

Vic Fangio’s defense needs to do their part. If the offense can sustain some drives, his guys can stay fresh and play well for a full game and not just parts of it. This would be an ideal time for Jonathan Greenard to make his presence felt. We will get to see Trot Jr rotate at LB. That could work well for him and Jihaad Campbell. We’ll find out what they are going to do at safety. That could be a rotation between Marcus Epps and Kenny Moore.

It’s Kenny Moore next to Drew Mukuba at safety with the first team defense in warmups. Moore played 44 snaps last week and Vic said he did a “hell of a job” so this isn’t a surprise. Marcus Epps and Cole Wisniewski are also dressed.

I hope we get a spirited effort from the Eagles today. Their leader is hurt and out for the next month. The rest of the team needs to play smart football and with some extra energy and emotion. Today will be an interesting test. They’re at home and that should help. They are also coming off a tough week. Do they hang their heads or does that bring out the best in them? Adversity can bring out the best in some teams.
