Bad Night in Big D

In the blink of an eye it was 7-0. No big deal, right? Just go tie the game up and go from there. Oops. Suddenly it was 14-0.

By halftime, it was 27-7.

Ugh.

There is no question that right now Dallas is the better team. They dominated the Eagles, winning 37-10. Sometimes that happens in the NFL. The problem is that the Eagles were sloppy against a horrible Jets team and then got whipped last week in Minnesota. That’s a trend.

There are a lot of questions right now. And there are some troubling answers.

There were issues on offense, defense and special teams. The coaching left a lot to be desired. Doug Pederson deserves a lot of criticism. Jim Schwartz, too.

Howie Roseman is responsible for the talent (or lack thereof) on the field.

When you think about the Eagles right now you think of slow starts, dropped passes, missed tackles, undisciplined play, dumb mistakes. That’s not good. The Eagles didn’t win the line of scrimmage, on offense or defense. There were good moments, but they were too few and far between.

There isn’t one person who is “the problem”. There are a lot of things that need to be fixed. Multiple players and coaches must get better. Right now the Eagles look like a bad team.

Is this rock bottom?

The Eagles better hope so. They are now 3-4 and have an uphill battle due to a tough schedule.

A year ago the Cowboys were 3-5 and the Eagles were 4-6 before turning their seasons around. You just can’t count on doing that. Getting DeSean Jackson, Nigel Bradham, Tim Jernigan and Avonte Maddox will help, but the poor play right now goes beyond injuries. Something has to change.

The tough questions are going to keep coming, and rightfully so.

This is going to be a long, long week for Pederson and his players.

*****

The “highlight” play for the night came from Nelson Agholor.

I yelled at the TV when I saw this live.

This is troubling. I don’t know why you pull your arms back in. That’s just maddening.

Doug needs to have a long talk with Agholor. This is just unacceptable.
