Reuben Frank just posted this on Twitter.
I'm told offensive linemen Allen Barbre and Matt Tobin have both made the Eagles' roster. Both can play guard or tackle.

Right now the Eagles have 57 players.
Stay tuned…

The Seahawks are playing games with my heart. Apart from releasing Antoine Winfield and making room for their young and promising corner backs, their current roster still stands at 73. Will they make the next and final 20 cuts 1 minute before the deadline?!!!
Someone should kidnap Gus Bradley and tie him up til Monday
Eagles will announce cuts at 4 PM, Roseman will be answering questions from the press at 4:30
I don’t know if I should be surprised or not by the Harbor release. If we really plan on using Celek Casey and Ertz heavily… what is left? I figured if Carrier got released we were keeping Harbor.
Re: Danny Watkins
T-Law:
My heart goes out to the kid. He didn’t ask the Eagles to draft him No. 1.
It was the job of someone — Reid?, Mudd?, Roseman? — to figure out if his heart was as big as his potential.
Someone dropped the ball.
ON the flip side, I don’t think you can really say his heart was in it. Don’t enter the NFL draft if you don’t want to give your everything to football for the next 10…well, 5 in Danny’s case…of your life.
Not fair.
He may have thought his heart was in it . . . but then a few weeks of Howard Mudd told him, “ugh, this sucks.”
I’m still putting the blame on the personnel dept.
Someone needed to scream at Reid that Watkins was a heartless 26 year-old.
Nope. This is ALL on Watkins. He was universally hailed as a great football player. Look at the post Sheil has up on the subject. There wasn’t word one from anybody anywhere about Watkins lacking heart and desire. He tore up the senior bowl that year as well. What a fraud of a human being.
Doesn’t make the human being a fraud if the scouts mis-diagnose his talent. This is on Reid and whoever scouted Watkins, not on Watkins.
It wasn’t a talent issue if you’re reading all of the stuff today on Twitter by Jimmy Bama and Rube and Adam Caplan. They’re 100% calling it a heart / football interest issue. That means Watkins lied his way through countless interviews. He dominated the senior bowl. Total fraud.
Why so bitter? It has nothing to do with you.
Why bitter? Because we weren’t given any info about Watkins being a bum while he was acting like a bum.
My heart doesn’t go out to anyone who pocketed 1st round millions and provided nothing
NOT HIS FAULT . . .
Watkins didn’t make the pick. What’s he supposed to do? Give the money back?
Sorry, I don’t see NFL teams giving money to rookie free agents who turn out to be great players . . . until after that 1st contract is exhausted.
Maybe it’s the fact I’m older with two kids (one in college, one in HS).
Sure, I’d love to see them get picked No. 1 in some pro league. And make millions.
That’s not their choice — that’s someone else’s.
Anyway, as a parent, my heart is open to the kid. That’s all.
Nothing personal against the kid, um, the late 20s man, but I always hated that pick. What a waste of a #1. After that pick, I never again said I was opposed to Andy leaving.
P_P_K:
I’m with you. Hated the pick for three reasons.
One, the kid was 26 already — turning 27 in-season.
Two, only 4 years of football.
Three, from Canada.
The whole draft sucked. Reminds me of my youth — when the Eagles routinely screwed up the old 17-round drafts in the 60s.
What’s the deal about being from Canada? You Americans don’t mind taking our oil, or Walmart sucking billions out of our economy every year, or both General Motors and Ford building cars here since the 1920’s. Banting and Best, the creators of the first artificial insulin gave the first usable doses to an American girl from upstate New York AND SAVED HER LIFE. If it wasn’t for fhe power grid built between BOTH or our countries, you people in the Northeast would still be burning lamp oil for light. It was a Canadian engineer, working at Bell, who designed the first LEM for the Apollo moon missions. It was another Canadian engineer, who called some colleagues in Toronto, who came up with the plan to save the astronauts lives on Apollo13. Your spies have been running around the world for years with forged Canadian identities and passports. After Katrina, the first help of any kind that showed up in District 9 was an urban search and rescue team from Vancouver. etc. etc. So knock it off. By the way, the first “feet” to touch the moon in 1969 were the feet of the LEM. Those “feet” were built in Canada.
Hoping Bamiro and Shep make it to the ps squad
“Before Twitter”
EXCELLENT!!!
Reminds of the days of Ray Rismiller. Adrian Young. And “We” Will Wynn.
This is how they used to draft:
I won’t even ask if it’s true. It has Eagles all over it!!!
Ah, the memories. Can’t beat ’em.
That was from a Ray Didinger article written a few months ago on Wynn, who died in June.
I thought Matthews and Marsh were cut?
not yet
Marsh = CB Ray Jones (2nd Rd pick in ’70, cut in ’71)
Matthews = LB Adrian Young (3rd Rd in ’68, gone in ’71)
Temple unveiling all white helmets with feathers today vs. ND pic.twitter.com/lzYDCd6zKR
do you have a pic of the ‘mut?
A bunch of teams will only be carrying 2 QBs. Bengals just cut Skelton.
Surprised by the Shep cut as he looked good on ST. Really thought Harbor would stick also.
Me too, on both. I guess we are learning that we don’t know Chip Kelly yet.
Wow, I thought all four in you first grouping would stick, and I thought all four in your second grouping would be gone. This Chip guy is Un-pre-dict-able, oh yeah!
Pats cut Tebow. Chiefs picked him up because the head coach likes character guys.
First part is true. Second, I’m just sayin’.
The Titans have released C Velasco who started all 16 games for them last year. He can also play G. Smells Eagles bound to me!
I’m shocked that Harbor got cut. I figured Chip planned on using a double stack 4 tight end set. He’s the fourth best tight end. Maybe he’s going to sign someone from another roster.
Maybe making room for Maehl? Although a WR, still would work in a double stack. Like Avant, Jeff catches everything – I bet he stays.
probably
Tommy, your little ball of hate is available again!!!
Rolle?
Yep, cut by the Steelers. I’d prefer him to the bum Casey Matthews!
Felix Jones made the Steelers roster
Can anybody point out to me any links to stories by the media about how Watkins lacked the heart and interest to play NFL football? I see it all over Twitter and web pages now, but I consider it a major failing of either my of my reading of Eagles news or reporters reporting honestly that I didn’t see word one on Watkins’ “stones” until today.
All I ever saw on the guy was that he was “having a hard time picking things up.”
My error or the reporters?
not your error. Reporters are coming out of the woodwork now about it
Thank you. So where the F were those reports over the past two years?
Down goes Tucker
Hope he gets on PS.
Looks like we’ll keep both Salas and Maehl to make it 6 WR!
I’ll drink to that!
Darn it. I predict this kid will be a good NFL player somewhere. Steelers should drop Felix Jones and pick him up.
Temple looks like they’re in the wrong division
#Eagles release OL Watkins, TE Harbor, WR Shepard, OL Bamiro, S Sims, RB Tucker, LB Long, LB C. McCoy and WR Salas
McCoy is a surprise.
Never saw that coming. Boom, slap the forehead!
That’s a shocker. Also both Salas AND Shepard!
McCoy cut is a mistake.
Unless Howie’s presser at 4.30 is to announce that they’ve traded for an OLB.
That must happen!
Tommy:
If you’re able to answer this question, I’d really appreciate it.
Why was there no reporting about the “heart” and “football interest lacking” elements of Watkins (to my remembrance) prior to today?
I had only read reports of Watkins not being able to improve his play enough to be on the field consistently, but nothing of the stuff Jimmy Bama, Roob, and Caplan were putting up on Twitter.
Did I miss reports over two years, or was this story not reported? If not reported, why?
So with McCoy being cut we actually have one LB who can play 3-4 OLB in this defense. Nice….
There MUST be another guy ready to be added to the roster at OLB.
I believe they already have some candidates that were cut today. We will know tomorrow.
They must have.. otherwise it’s highly risky!
Ugh they kept Matthews and cut McCoy; thought Maehl might make it
11 DBs…! No wonder with so much quality in the backfield on the roster…!
How the frig did Curtis Marsh make this team? I know they’re hurting for CB depth, but wow. They gave up on Watkins; it’s beyond time to let this one go.
Maybe he’ll be cut when they add the 4th OLB?
either he or D.Kelley may be eligible for recallable IR
Maybe McCoy should have hold onto the pick 6 against the Jets after all…
BIG mistake. Chip wants turnovers on D. If you can’t deliver then maybe the Eagles can do better.
Nine rookies (6 draft picks, 3 UDFAs). Johnson, Ertz, Logan, Barkley, Wolff, Poyer, Tobin, Square and Knott
Why would you keep Marsh or Hughes or Matthews and cut McCoy? McCoy actually played well–might have been the best OLB.
