Halftime – CIN 19, PHI 0
Posted: December 4th, 2016 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 333 Comments »I thought this might be an ugly game, but I didn’t see the Bengals whipping the Eagles. Unfortunately that is exactly what’s happening.
Highlights so far today:
- Trey Burton has 3 catches for 34 yards.
- Nelson Agholor hasn’t dropped a pass.
- The Cincy PK missed an extra point.
That should give you an idea how bad this performance is.
Doug Pederson better wake this team up in a big way or he is going to feel a level of heat he’s never imagined.
_
All the red flags are there concerning Pederson. Team constantly comes out unprepared. Team is undisciplined. Playcalling is poor. Decision making is questionable. The rookie QB has regressed despite the head coach being a former QB. The team plays like it doesn’t believe what Pederson is selling. Sure the team has talent issues, but none of these things are related to talent.
I guess there was a reason no one else was interested in him, he may just be a yes man for 34 year old accountant that runs the team…..
Now we see if they play for pride and show up in the 2nd half or just roll over.
Just noticed how little activity there is in the comments during the game. Only 200+ on the last thread. There is usually a lot more. Guessing people are wising up and actually doing something productive with their days instead of blowing it watching this piece of shit team.
By that reasoning, your being here is evidence that you yourself are a fool
Didn’t claim otherwise. I’m also drunk. Peddle your sanctimonious bullshit elsewhere.
wow, thats mean, you drink douch, you fat queer
if only i did the same, alas, i cant.
Game last week killed a lot of interest in the season as the playoffs chances really diminished. It is also how they looked too.
Imagine their are going to be tons of empty seats the last 2 games vs Giants and Boys if they go into a spiral. That has happened a couple of times the last few seasons including last year and in Reid’s final year in ’12.
I went to the game vs Skins in ’12 and there was maybe a 70% fill rate at max with tons of empty seats in the upper levels at the Linc.
Wow – a truly meaningful Thursday night game. Raiders-Chiefs. Looking forward to that.
Yup, I think I’ve fully transitioned to looking more forward to Chiefs games than Eagles game for the rest of the season. As long as Andy is there, they’ll be “Philly West” to me.
Wentz . . .
His wildly missed pass to DGB — on best pattern he’s ever run — sums up entire game.
U-G-L-Y (h/t T-Law)
I genuinely hope Pederson the coach isn’t on par with Pederson the player for us ;(
good news is we can get rid of Pederson in a few years and still keep Wentz, if it does turn out badly.
[…] Tommy Lawlor I thought this might be an ugly game, but I didn’t see the Bengals whipping the Eagles. […]
Just to confirm – that was 4/4 scoring to possessions by the bungles right?
WTF??!! Offsides on the kick off??!!
One thing we’ve been able to count on almost all season is special teams kick and punt coverage. They’ve been pretty damn good all year.
hahahahahahaha. Just as I praise them, they get a fucking offsides penalty.
I think we need to get some of the assistant coaches out. Greg Lewis for starters
Frank Reich
If they do go into an absolute tailspin and finish the season on a real low note, it will be interesting to see who Lurie and Roseman sacrifice. It can’t be Pederson.
Likely they’ll make several of the position coaches fall on their swords. Lewis being a strong candidate.
my guess is no one, and nor should they. can’t keep changing assistants due to a bad year, especially in a rebuilding year.
This brings up an interesting point – Lurie and Roseman went out of their way to say this wasn’t a rebuilding year.
I thought that was a huge mistake at the point because it didn’t set fan expectations.
If Lurie had said after the Bradford trade, we are going to start Wentz week 1 and even if we experience some growing pains this year we are confident in the future with him and Pederson.
Didn’t do that though and after the 3-0 start the public expectations really got inflated.
I don’t think Lurie is a bad owner or that he is cheap/doesn’t want to win/etc. He generally has been a solid owner who doesn’t interfere.
Don’t think he is particularly savvy or smart though in some of the personnel decisions he has made over the years nor in how he speaks and handles the public/media.
Granted it is really hard to appease this fickle and schizophrenic fan base even when the team is winning but it generally has been a weakness of Lurie’s tenure here.
The entire staff needs to go.

LOL!
how many 3rd and 10+ turn into 20yd+ plays this season? it’s ridiculous
in addition, the audio ads on this website have been annoying…
Well, we certainly can’t afford to constantly be offsides. Aaand another dumb penalty.
Even Merrill sounds pretty despondent right now. Time to do some work outside.
Awful. Awful. Awful.
No pride.
Ugh, I can’t remember a game where we looked so inept.
I can
Last week?
There were at least times in that game were we put up some competition. From the opening drive we have sucked today.
Lol, cmon. It’s not that difficult. Did u forget the 2nd half of last season? Or AR’s final season? This is pretty crappy though.
Seattle a few years ago stands out to me. Actually that reminds me of the other Seattle game a few years ago also, ha
Holy shit, will the CB problem ever be fixed? Will they ever be competent?
that was jenkins
I should have said DB in general.
No one on this team should get paid this week.
no way pederson comes back from this
In this game or as a coach for the Eagles?
coach of the eagles
He can, but his seat is warming up. He’ll be under the microscope and not given the benefit of the doubt for subsequent blowout losses.
They could lose every game for the rest of the season and they aren’t firing Pederson nor should they.
Oh, I know that. But he’s quickly losing the confidence of the fans – which amounts to jack shit. I do think continued losses like this won’t guarantee him 3 years though.
I’m pretty grateful that they let me know early on I can have the rest of my Sunday to myself, instead of waiting till the 4th quarter to rub it in. Thanks!
Paul Turner sighting
Paul turner the GOAT
He does have quite a career YPC avg
Just cut it down quite a bit
Turner!!!! There’s a positive! There’s a positive!
PT CRUISER ON THE BOARD.
TURNER!!!!!
Turner with the contested catch
THE CRUISER! MVP! MVP! MVP!
Why we keep the 2nd coming of Jerry Rice on the practice squad is beyond me.
OK, I think I’ll go clean out my gutters instead this afternoon (thanks Dug).
2 targets, 2 catches. What is this sorcery at WR?
Turner doesn’t look slow…
Was thinking the same thing
He’s got 4.5…. knows how to use it..
He also has these things called “hands.”
He’s got hands…. knows how to use em
https://youtu.be/eUDcTLaWJuo?t=53s
He run like a 4.5. The Speed thing is way overblown
Of course. Couple good plays and then an awful one.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mbVWrbC8WZ4/UFVfooYyTtI/AAAAAAAALSg/qzKCjwHGlos/s1600/paula-abdul-opposites-attract-video-22.jpg
This secondary is getting carved up again and the DL isn’t generating any pressure when they rush 4. We have seen this Groundhog’s Day performance a lot lately.
that penalty is ridiculous.
Stupidfest 2016 continues.
how is that not intentional grounding? He wasn’t out of the pocket and it wasn’t near an eligible receiver.
beat me to it.
Penalties don’t matter we won’t even come close to making a comeback
Such a poorly coached football team.
Not that it matters, but that stupid bunch play by the Bengals should have been intentional grounding. He was not out of the pocket and he there it over a ineligible receiver.
I honestly don’t know what is a bigger need – a reliable No 1 CB or a WR. Literally 1 and 1A.
McKelvin has a huge target on him the last few weeks. They honestly really do miss Brooks. Secondary play has notably take a step back since he has been out.
brooks is playing
Ron Brooks. CB.
yea, hes playing on STs at least. saw him on one tackle at least.
Think he’s on IR.
oh didnt know we had a third brooks….
I think he is out for the season
Terrence Brooks.
We just need a fire sale
They need to go for blood at this point. If they’re gonna call this stupid bullshit then give an actual reason to call it.
Throwing players down out of bounds is fine when the Seahawks do it.
Lol I think they’ve hung up their jerseys for the year business is closed
So there’s the Steelers game on one end.
And this game at the other end.
Eagles fall somewhere . . . closer to this game since October 1st.
Definitely closer to this game. Wish it wasn’t true, but this team has been playing with little confidence over the past several weeks now.
The coaching staff is just dumb. Watkins has been late hitting ppl as a habit and it was finally called. Should have been fixed
Shut out?
clearly a pushoff
Is Dalton going to throw for 400+ yards today?
Marvin Lewis has too much class.
If it were Belichick, he’d try to get Brady to 500.
Damn straight he would after losing to the Eagles last year. He would want to wipe their faces in it.
So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.
We can’t beat the kicker on returns since huff left
Smallwood doesn’t seem to have the same burst since he has had more carries.
Ertz is funny to watch.
Good job Barner.
So, I’m rooting for a Kansas City – Seattle Superbowl. yay
Always had a soft spot for the Chiefs dating way back to the Okoye-Word days.
i still like fat andy.
Not a fan
Watching Wentz today has given me Hoying flashbacks. He has looked that awful at times in terms of accuracy and decision-making including when to scramble/when to pass. Like a hellish 90s flashback.
Need a pick here to keep the shutout alive
Honestly, I’m all for trading Ertz. Seems like we can get his production from Burton and everyone else thinks he’s worth something so maybe we can get something valuable for him.
“and everyone else thinks he’s worth something ”
Lol so true
shut it, baboon balls
Clearly, I have some sort of supernatural ability. I praise the special teams and the immediately get an offsides call on a kickoff. I point out that Ertz has sucked and he then catches a touchdown.
Maybe cutting Huff was a dumb move? That move puzzled me since they also traded for DGB. Huff wasn’t that good and team needs more than that obviously but anything would help at this point.
yay
Once again Ertz gets 0 YAC.
That pass from Wentz restored all my faith in him
you’re easy…
The pass to DGB in 1st half was Hoying-esqe.
No doubt abt that.
My main concern is that the only real success he’s had with real passes are all down the middle.
Agree. 100%
Hard to tell though if that is him or the WRs the Eagles are trying to use outside including Turner.
I admit I like Turner but he is seriously miscast trying to work patterns outside and deep.
Gets off the mat and wants to take some more punches. Good to see.
The Bengals got tired of landing almost 100% of their punches. They need a break.
Eagles are going to use the Jake LaMotta strategy.
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/f0/2d/48/f02d48d7e9ea709993f8b384d10fb7bf.jpg
ok just four more of those.
Not surprised. I’m playing against Ertz in fantasy.
Not getting shut out. Yay.
Unfortunately ertz is prob the only person we could trade and get some kind of value for
Why trade Ertz given his contract, lack of a successor, and all the needs this team has?
Curry has been the bigger turd in terms of performance vs contract. Done jack and ___ today once again.
I’d trade ertz, nobody wants AG’s but he would be gone, sproles to a co tender even though I’d be sad to see him go and get this rebuild going
This announcing crew is the worst. Buck & Collinsworth & Gruden are annoying, but with Siragusa gone, these clowns are the worst.
bennie still playing.
Nobody’s going to be lining up to interview Schwartz for a head coaching job anytime soon. Not sure Howie will take any of his input on players this off season either.
Roseman’s response to Schwartz wanting a CB, wanting a DE, wanting . . .
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/78/a4/85/78a485d676d4df38e826d6e20d02c7d5.jpg
yay?
nice
is burton our leading receiver?
goodness.
Can’t wait for Wentz to not be a rookie anymore ugh
What do you call it down 29-7 in the 4th quarter when your season is over and you are trying to score?
Whatever Doug, Reich and Fip did to Wentz since week 4, they need to undue this off season.
and yet, i still cant turn away
Like driving by a car wreck today.
Ouch!
None of us expected greatness and, in less than 1 month, we’ll have a 9 month wait for Eagles football again.
schwartz needs to rethink this defense if people are so freaking wide open
Maybe he thought it was Gisecki and he could just air it out. Wentz definitely has some Farvre-ian tendencies.
Wentz overrated???
Question, who regressed more since Lane went on his suspension, Wentz or the defensive line?
Hill – 20 carries, 28 yards. Run defense is as stout as the pass defense is porous.
the further they get from our DL the easier it is to succeed, probly why our RZ D is better than average
If this game was at home, this team would be getting booed a lot including Wentz.
Fortunate it is on the road. Fans/media have been worked up all week.
No doubt
so turner should have been playing more.
Lol, David Turner.
I can’t believe I am going to lose a bet that Agholor doesn’t finish with more than 20 yards receiving.
Their down and throwing yet he is the invisible man without a target this half.
3 targets, 3 catches.
That was kinda cool.
Wondering what Wentz would look like under a QB whisperer like Adam Gase.
Much better skill position talent especially at WR. Landry is legit and underrated still around the NFL. Just has nagging injuries and a bit of inconsistency.
see ryan tannehill today. (spoiler: its not pretty)
didnt look that bad…
Where is the defenseless receiver call for us? The Bengals got a call.
I’m still confused about that Bengal call. It was definitely helmet to helmet, but it was way after the receiver caught the ball and turned upfield and was trying to gain additional yards.
Yeah, I don’t get it. Does defenseless receiver have to be helmet to helmet?
Let’s get bill lazor back in here
Agholor!!!
i used to go to bars to watch eagles games before i got sunday ticket. that would be the worst for these kind of losses.
Yeah. This year was the first year I could get Sunday ticket streaming without being a Direct TV subscriber. Totally not worth it.
Yea my I’ve embarrassed myself so many times at the bar
uh how is that not a penalty
Burfict with the non call PI
I’m sorry but wentz is overrated. I know he doesn’t have weapons but still idk if we got the right one. We should have got Zeke and Dak like I said way before the draft
He has a huge burden on his shoulders. We can’t run the ball consistently and have number 5 WRs as our starters
i doubt dak would be any better in this offense.
Dak is a complete product of having a top 5 everything at his disposal. OL, RB and WR. He would be terrible on this team.
Idk man. Granted he has all thatbstuff, he still has “it”. We had Maclin, Jackson, Shady and a great oline and QBs that squandered it. I don’t think having all that makes you a good qb. I bet if we had him when we had a that he would outproduce all the QBs we had that played with those weapons.
The OL is the most important part. I’ve watched about 8 cowboys games this year, and it is amazing how much time he has to throw. You give any QB that much time, he’s gonna give you something positive. If you add on to that a RB that averages a 100 yards a game, just gives you that much more. It is the perfect scenario for Dak.
It is also Elliott. He is a damn stud and a dynamic dual threat.
Essentially a garbage time TD but I suppose it’s welcome.
Take this at least… they are not giving up and laying down. Still playing.
And Agholor is showing something.
As I type that, its a game now.
How is that not a late hit or H2H???? Wtf??!
YEAHH!!!! FUMBLE
Holy shit, are we going to come back on this??
no.
No.
But it would be funny if the turning point ends up being a stupid pass to an o-lineman
Probably not but that brief moment of hope is nice.
need to make them pay when they jump for the block
HURRY UP!
We traded Bradford. We don’t need 3 yard passes on 3rd down.
Maraschino cherry on this turd sundae by Wentz today.
Yeah, Wentz can go fuck himself.
We need more plays than little slants on 4th down.
Wentz is just not that good guys… There was a Tom of nut riding I’m the draft process etc but we picked the wrong one. Don’t be sheep he has shown very little that makes me confident he is the future. Yea he makes some good decisions thats fine but the negatives have def outweighed the positives.
He’s had his shot. It is definitely time to give up on him.
we could probably trade him for bradford.
If Chip were still here, he would trade Wentz for Bradford and give the Vikings a second round pick in the draft.
Basically I’m just saying we prob won’t win a ring with this guy.
We haven’t won a ring since 1960, and very few QBs (even good ones) win rings, so the chances are that you are right. But, it is way to early to come to any conclusions about a rookie QB and definitely way too early to give up on him.
This is crazy talk. They sucked today and he played really poorly but saying what he’ll do over the next 5 years is nuts.
Stop being so dramatic.
Just being honest
Terrible game by Wentz on a toothless offense. Chalk it up to a rookie QB and move on.
The poor decision-making is what is a bit more disturbing though. he could have 6 INTS today easily.
Got forced into a corner because of the big deficit they got put in early on and his lack of experience/decision-making really showed.
I just hope we can move up in this draft and get a franchise QB or trade for Luck or Dalton.
Yep, Howie has to do what it takes to get a franchise QB.
Romo!!!
turner – zero drops.
Should have jumped at least 1 spot on the depth chart.
He looked pretty damn good against a decent Bengals secondary
Catches the ball when thrown to him even in tight coverage. Shouldn’t be high praise but this group it is.
Hoping Pederson gets roasted in the post game presser.
Well – Turner can catch
Turner another tough catch. IDK why he took so long to get on the field with all the bums we’ve had at WR…
6 catches 79 yards. Turner has earned more PT.
The PT Cruiser is online. IDK what people were saying before about him, he looks plenty fast enough to me.
Yeah, he must be the worst practice player in history. I don’t know what he’s doing in practice to keep him off the field.
He made a really distasteful joke about Pederson and his preference for sun visors.
nearly double the yardage of all our other wrs combined.
And kind of begs the question, “why wasn’t he active weeks ago?” In all realism, they should have had him up after Huff was cut.
At the latest!
57 dropbacks… smart dougie.
Hard to keep running when the defense can’t get a stop to save their lives.
Wentz sails that pass to the tight end up the seam every single time.
wentz loves double and triple coverage.
This is really starting to feel like the AR years and I don’t want a repeat of that. Got close but just never good enough.
oh we’re not close tho.
not this year but this has the feel of an AR team and I don’t like it.
Pederson is like a mix of all bad qualities of AR and none of the good. He’s like Danny Devito in the movie Twins, only worse.
I would kill for the AR years right now.
He throws the seam route high every time
Thing is, the safety is over the top! Why throw it?!
He’s trying to drop it in the bucket, but he’s sailing it.
Wentz sucked all around today. The people who have been lurking about him are going to start to come out of the wood work.
His decision-making though was what was hard to watch today. Made a low of poorer decisions for the first time this year all game.
Got put behind the eight ball early on though by the defense though yet again. Any rookie QB throwing 60 times is going to have some bad throws.
His confidence is shot. He needs an off season and some new lineman. I don’t want him turning into Luck getting hit every game.
This is a big concern. So big, in fact, that I think it could justify his HC losing his job after only one season (I do not think that it will happen, however).
Whoa, settle down Chicken Little, lol
You can pretend you’re not seeing what you’re seeing and hearing what you’re hearing, that’s up to you. Who / what is chicken little?
You never heard of Chicken Little…”the Sky is Falling!” All I’m saying that you seem to be overreacting.
Wish I was / hope I am
Keeps throwing high over the middle!
32 carries, 81 yards for the Bengals. Moral victory and Turner is about all that was positive from today.
Just got to our condo in The Keys
How bad was it?
Pretty rough.
Both sides of the ball?
yep
Yeah, the defense allowed the Bengals to score on their first 6 drives, on offense we didn’t score a TD until late in the third quarter… We looked like a team that doesn’t deserve a playoff spot at all.
Thanks
Time to start drinking for a week
Have fun!
imagine a terrible game, then imagine worse.
Fuccvkkkkk condos… destroyed too many places
Paul Turner, 6 for 80, better than any game Ags has had in his career.
If you can’t keep your shit together on a 4th down pass and have to bail and just throw it up for grabs, then you probably won’t succeed as a QB for the Eagles long term.
You would on the other hand succeed as the QB for the Giants long term (see Eli Manning).
Oh god the histronics about Wentz are starting to permeate this board, it’s time for me to bail.
It’s been the same two people..
That’s just the beginning, more will come out of the woodwork.
histrionics due to excessive alcohol consumption doesn’t seem too bad.
Hang around Steve, we need a few people who can see straight
We are the new slump busters for opposing teams.
Is Schwartz not going to talk to the media again this week after the game?
I just rather he wasnt the DC
Is Juan Castillo available?
That protocol was established before the season started
FWIW . . .
Paul Turner’s 6 rec – 80 yards tops every game Agholor’s career.
Ags is too easy of an punching bag at this point.
Ags definitely seems like a true 1st round bust. Turner must be telling Pederson to go screw himself during practice for him to have taken so long to get on the field.
The new People’s Champ.
Pederson’s lousy play calling including putting Wentz out on an island today and the lousy performance yet again the 1st half by the offense and defense.
Hey Schwartz . . .
https://cdn.meme.am/instances/500x/47614101.jpg
0 sacks today. WTF happened to this D?
Teams got film on them after week 3
Pederson came out this week and said they were ‘rebuilding’ and that the last few weeks they were looking to see who wanted to be here.
It upset a few veterans but you certainly didn’t see this team respond at all today. They were dead flat the entire first half and didn’t show spark in the 2nd half like they have this season.
Wheels are pretty close to coming off this season & things getting ugly.
Oh…it looks like they’re already off.
Not quite there but they have a divisional rival game next week at home. If they get curb stomped again, then yeah they’ll be there.
You’re right, but I think a little late to the “party.”
The moment Tommy posted Bengals weak against the run .. ha we have no run .. but 57 dropbacks w t f !!
What are the odds we picked the right coach as well as the right QB in the same year? Signs point to unlikely. There would be a small chance that they’re both the correct pick but it’s a low percentage. I have more hope for Wentz at this point than Pederson. He seems too much like AR and that’s not a compliment.
Pretty sure AR was a good coach had some stupid faults but also needs players not to be bitches and throw up on the sideline and not win a Superbowl. AR should just relinquish decision making in certain situations. I bet if he was coaching right now we would be in position to go to the playoffs even with the hot garbage we have for players across the board.
AR had a lot of success but couldn’t get the big one and that wasn’t good enough. I don’t want another era of “not quite good enough”.
Apart from our many flaws, I think the suitability of Doug Pederson for this franchise may not be an optimal fit. Jeff Lurie is an owner who wants his HC to leave his imprint on the franchise by exercising a wide degree influence, and taking all football matters under his wing. Sure there is a front office to offer support, but the vision, the protocol, the day-to-day decisions, and all of the ancillary issues are all on Doug. This is not how Pittsburgh or Dallas or Washington or the Giants conduct their franchises (to name a few), and while they may not be ideal environments in which to find oneself, there is a much more defined and much more cushioned role for the HC. This is not a reaction to a disappointing season, but just a rumination on the weight under which an Eagles HC must function. Garrett and Tomlin and Grudin and McAdoo are field generals, period. They are the faces of their franchises, but they are not the architects of those franchises’ practices and programs or the creators of those franchises’ brands. They most likely have some say, but all of the aforementioned have owners and FO’s with definite constrictions within which their hires are expected to operate. This has much to offer when relations are terminated.
Presumably, Lurie and HR will take whatever weight an HC requests of them, but the owner’s posture seems to be to let the HC go where he wants to go. That would leave a lot of room to fail, even for a veteran HC, and it could be terrifying for a rookie HC.
WTF?
Yeah!!!!!!!! Eli picked. Timmons down the sidelines for a minute.
With the lack of talent, a rookie qb, and lack of continuity on the line I do not expect this offense to put up that many points…but this defense is pathetic. We are making everyone look like juggernauts.
It’s hard when you don’t have the tools to stop the pass in a pass-happy league.
Are you sure. Barwin seems to spend more time being a tool of a douche bag hipster on the music scene instead of a guy who cares to earn his salary.
Barwin played one year as a 4-3 DE and like 5+ years as a 3-4 OLB. The idiots who thought that he would be good with his hand in the dirt were delusional in the first place.
I got flamed for trying (out of cheapness and a large level of faith in thief ass Curry) to unload Barwin on draft day for a 3rd or 4th.
Curry has been a major disappointment. He was so disruptive and got a ton of pressure before. But Barwin has always been a coverage and effort sack guy when he was here.
For may glass-is-half-full Eagles blitz friends…
The coaching situation is ugly and complicated. The HC and DC both appear to be insufficient, but making a change after only one year feels desperate… And more importantly, it exposes a lot of people, like Lurie and Rosenman. Dumping Dug and Schwartz actually looks like the right thing to do, but if you’re Lurie, since you can’t fire yourself, you probably have to fire Howie too and start over – again. The other option is staying with the status quo, keeping your fingers crossed and hoping that the coaching staff is visited by angels from above in the offseason.
Outside of putting the team up for sale, I think Lurie’s put himself between a rock and a hard place.
Firing Pederson is completely reactionary and unproductive even if this season ends on a real sour note.
Even if they did, want desirable candidate wants to come here? They already had some issues with that last offseason.
What you might see is Lurie more moderate steps including pushing Pederson to give up the offensive playing call responsability and focus more on head coaching duties instead if the offense continues to look so poor and Wentz struggles down the stretch.
You absolutely become Cleveland if you start firing people every year. I agree with you 100%.
Not far from correct to carry a WE ARE CLEVELAND sign … similar in too many ways
This might be the most practical thing to do, but if you’re gonna go that route you better find a way to insulate Wentz from the ensuing damage that comes from playing another year under Doug.
This team needs the off-season BADLY.
– Pederson needs to have a former head coach come in and mentor him for a few months. Pederson really needs to self-scout his decision making on play calling, kick/go decisions, challenges, the active roster, the 53 man roster, and the practice squad.
– There are some dog ass dogs on this team who don’t play hard or continuely play with their heads up their asses. They need to be gone. So do the guys who are stealing money and don’t created a negative cap charge by trading/cutting.
– There are some roster holes that Howie needs to keep plugging.
– This team lacks any players who can really enforce professionalism, desire, focus, and overall correct ways of playing. I cannot overstate how the signings of Jon Runyon and Brian Mitchell helped instill a more winning attitude on this team to go with guys like Dawk. Malcolm Jenkins and Sproles can’t light fires under all of these lazy asses themselves.
Again, I’m not firing anybody off of this game or this season, but there are some straight up bums on this team and the last two weeks were complete lazy bum efforts. That needs to change.
Pederson said several times it wasn’t an effort issue but he knows it was especially in the 1st half. This team rolled over late in the Packers game too despite what Pederson said in the post-game too. Joyner and even Didinger were taking about that Monday night after the game especially Joyner.
Pederson is full of beans on that. Not only is there an obvious lack of effort, desire, and concern over winning games………..there is also a lack of those guys being identified. They need to be called out.
Puck drops soon for the Flyers. Hopefully they win, Simmonds beats somebody’s rear end, and Subban gets his disrespectful and overrated head smashed into the boards. I need to see the blood of the enemy all over.
I’m all in favor for drafting back to back CBs with our 1st and 2nd round picks this year. I don’t have any two combinations in mind right now but enough is enough. McKelvin isn’t good. Carroll could stay but I want a guy with higher upside.
What about WRs? I hate to say it but I want to reserve judgement on DGB and Turner until Week 16. I’m in favor of trading for Brandin Cooks but I think he might be a product of Brees’s greatness. Wentz doesn’t have the deep ball accuracy and placement to really utilize him right now even if we get him. The same applies to Djax if we are truly interested in getting him back. We could use either guys for those WR screens but we don’t want that do we?
I hope Bennie isn’t looking for a fat contract. He’s a good stout run defender but we also had that in Thornton when he was here.
Trade Barwin to the Patriots or something. We’re not going to be contending next year and as much as I think it’ll suck for us, Barwin deserves to play for someone good.
The risk on CBs is that they don’t often play well year one, so we’ll nee to double temper expectations with that player.
Can’t be any worse than McKelvin and Carroll.
Maxwell? Nnamdi? But I get your point.
All I know is whoever we pick next year will already be better than any guy in the same position on Dallas, NYG, and Washington. He’ll also be better than who they pick with their picks. And be much better than whoever the Rams take with our pick.
One can only hope.
No hope needed. Those other team’s players represent fan bases who are only fit to eat fists.
That will never happen.
Is there any indication that Brandin Cooks would be available for a trade?
He’s not happy with his role right now if the rumors are true. They also don’t want to pay him since they don’t really have the cap space. They have two other guys that could pick up the slack in Michael Thomas and Willie Snead.
There would be bo complaints for me. If its a deep cb draft then why not? The skid marks out there starting now are just not good/talented/healthy enough. There has been the same problem for years, mediocre talent in the seconday with no high end impact.
They won’t fire pederson after this season. However, when they fire him in 2 to 3 years everybody will wish it happened sooner.
You can put me on blast as one of the people who wants to give Doug maximum time. I’m prepared to give him into year 4 before we make a decision on him.
Too many red flags already. The team is often unprepared to play. They are undisciplined. The offensive play calling is bad and predictable. The decision making is questionable. The players play as if they do not buy into what he’s doing. The eagles have talent problems, but none of those issues are talent related.
I don’t disagree with you, but I want him to have time to fix those things. And I’m calling for a mentor to work with him this off-season.
I think these are the key points. The one that I would add – which every NFL coach seems to possess in spades, unfortunately – is incredible stubbornness, unwillingness to admit mistakes and make necessary adjustments to personnel strengths/weaknesses in-season.
I just want him to give up play calling NOW. If he gets fired I’m ok with it but I’m not calling for it today. But his offensive scheme is hard to watch. Its 3rd year Chip all over again except slower and less scheming open WRs
I want to see how he self-scouts over the off-season and then comes back next year.
Seems fair
I’m LIVID over the garbage we’ve seen over the past two weeks, but I’m content to verbally unload on the guilty parties rather than firing them.
I’d give him 3 years at a minimum. If this team doesn’t show clear growth and Wentz has really broken through by then, maybe you consider it that offseason.
Miles to go before even needing to serious consider that. They went out a branch to hire Pederson. Need to stick with it to see how it unfolds.
yea, maybe he needs more time to create that family atmosphere.
if the eagles don’t have a winning record next year doug will be gone – lurie don’t play that
I don’t want him fired. Jim Schwartz is letting him down and they really lack talent on offense. That can change drastically next year and certainly in 2-3 years. Good QBs make coaches look good. Good QBs almost always have coaching stability. I think the continuity is extremely important for Carson’s developement. He need weapons around him more than a new coach
I still cannot understand what happened to this D. I am willing to look at the lack of talent at WR and RB, banged up/suspended OL, and rookie QB and have some optimism that an infusion of talent will fix the offense. We have plenty of talent in defense. There is no reason for the piss poor play the last couple of weeks.
None at all. I’d love to see some analysis on that. I know Duffy broke down how it isn’t the fault of Cox, but beyond that I’m not sure.
Fletch answered what’s going on afterward today.

Bad cornerback play is allowing opposing offenses to follow this same approach week after week.
Overachieving DL? CBs are bad. Safeties not having much of an impact. LBs are solid. D probably wasn’t as good as we thought and got lucky?
Safety play in coverage has been an issue too. Eagles invested huge dollars in Jenkins and McLeod this offseason and their limitations in pass coverage have come up lately.
Sure is quiet around here. Last year they were some Wars around here when they started to suck
We’ll see if this is going on for year 3 of Pederson……..
It’s called depression.
General interest in this team right now reminds me of going into the early preseason.
Fans were angry last week and probably will be this week but generally a level of malaise & indifference will set in for the rest of the year. Just a bad team that is playing out the stretch.
I’d imagine there’s a lot of empty PBR cans around Tommy right now…and empty pudding cups.
