Getting Poached

The Cardinals are in town to interview #Eagles QBs coach John DeFilippo and DC Jim Schwartz for their HC opening today, per source. Schwartz goes this afternoon. Flip tonight.
— Jeff McLane (@Jeff_McLane) January 5, 2018
I don’t really see the fit with Jim Schwartz, but I don’t blame him for talking to them. There are only 32 coaching jobs so candidates can’t be picky. He is supposedly still in the running for the Giants job. There was talk of him as the favorite, but that seems to have died down.
Flip makes more sense, if the Cardinals want to draft and develop a young QB. They have the 15th overall pick, which isn’t ideal, but there still could be a QB or two worth taking a chance on. The Cardinals have had good defenses in recent years with different defensive coordinators. That organization needs a young QB to build around more than anything. The Rams, Niners and Seahawks have stud QBs. If you’re going to compete with them you need a QB.
John DeFilippo is interviewing with the Bears today in Philly area.
— Zach Berman (@ZBerm) January 6, 2018
This makes total sense to me. Flip could work with Mitchell Trubisky, who showed real promise this year. The Bears have some good OL pieces and talented RBs. They need to develop some receivers, but that offense could take a big step forward with the right coach.
If I had to guess right now, I’d lean toward Schwartz returning and Flip getting a job.

Two more personnel executives the Texans are interested in for their vacant GM job are Eagles VP of player personnel Joe Douglas and Cowboys VP of player personnel Will McClay.
— John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) January 5, 2018
Texans GM Rick Smith is taking a year off to help his wife deal with breast cancer. Smith might never be coming back so the team is looking for a replacement.
Douglas is ready to be a GM. His time with the Ravens helped him learn how to evaluate and assess talent. He spent time with the Bears and saw how things worked in a different organization.
Douglas has been with the Eagles for more than a year now. He has seen how Howie Roseman works aggressively as a trader and dealmaker. That’s something Douglas hadn’t been exposed to previously. Douglas has also learned how to deal with the media, something a GM must do.
The Eagles could offer Douglas more money or a new title, but he wants control. Douglas wants to be The Guy, as all personnel men do. That isn’t going to happen with Roseman in place. Roseman has given up some power, but he’s not giving up complete control.
Losing Douglas would hurt. He’s helped the Eagles to bring in some good football players. At the same time, I don’t think his value has risen to the point where he is irreplaceable. The Eagles should do what they can to try to keep Douglas around, but he’s going to leave at some point. Some team will have the right situation and make him the right offer.
We’ll see if Houston is that team.
I certainly hope not.

Chase Stuart of Football Perspective is an analytics guru. He posted some team efficiency rankings today.
The Eagles were 11th in passing offense, 7th in rushing offense, 5th in pass defense and 6th in run defense. They came in 4th overall, behind New Orleans, Minnesota and Jacksonville.

Here are some of my thoughts on Wild Card Weekend. Go Falcons.
There is hope…
Some hope for the Eagles drawing the Falcons. (They play Goff today.) https://t.co/27I7gSDApA

I’m sure Douglas is good at his job, but to me what he represents is more important than who he is – he is an experienced, trained scout with whom Howie has shown himself willing to share personnel power, and his hiring indicated that Roseman is aware of his own weaknesses and will bring in qualified people to compensate for them. As long as they hire a similar person to replace him, I’m happy.
Agree and think he’d is tough to replace
Should Douglas leave I am taking Daniel Jeremiah as a nice consolation prize.

With B-Dawk in the wings.
Dick LeBeau is 80!
Mariota looks like hot garbage. Don’t know why he has regressed so much this year.
Bad coaching. Mularkey doesn’t know what he’s doing when it comes to developing a modern NFL quarterback.
If I’m the Titans owner, I’m firing him and hiring somebody like Flip before MM is irrevocably ruined.
Banner thinks coach might get fired.
oops.
Marcus Peters is such a jackass. Talented player, but so immature.
Forward progress!?? On a QB sack!! Wtf is that?
Yeah, first time I heard that bull!
why do the titans suck so much?
Right? It’s like a semi-bye for the Chiefs.
If Kelce is healthy next week, I think they could give the Patriots a game.
AR got ripped off on that challenge. That was a fumble. I don’t see how you can call “forward progress” when he got hit while standing still in the pocket.
I rather lose the D coordinator than the QB coach!
The Chiefs were totally fucking up that 2 minute drill but got bailed out by terrible Titans pass coverage.
I can’t believe that worked out! Haha I was yelling get out of bounds!
Who was that receiver who got tackled in bounds? He’s running along the sideline and then let himself get tackled in bounds. Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with these people sometimes.
So I have Alex Smith, Tyreke Hill and Travis Kelce. Kelce is probably done with a concussion, but I hope the Titans can keep it competitive enough that the Chiefs are still throwing into the 4th quarter.
I have Derrick Henry as well, and if the Titans are smart they’ll keep running to help Mariota out because that dude is incapable of winning the game throwing the whole second half.
So here’s a thought. The 3-6 seeds in the AFC are Buffalo, Tennessee, Jacksonville and Kansas City.
in the NFC it’s Atlanta, Carolina, New Orleans and the Rams.
What the fuck parity, I’d give anything to be the 1 seed in the AFC right now.
I think Jacksonville and KC are quality teams and could give the Steelers and Patriots a challenge respectively.
Tennessee and Buffalo are not playoff caliber teams however.
That is an insane TD! Mariota throws it to himself off Chief lol!
So if the fantasy season were still going on, does Mariota get double points for completing a TD pass to himself?
Yes is my guess?
I’m not actually sure. What I am sure of is that Delanie Walker cost me 6 points by false starting there.
my thought as well!
what a beautiful reaction to catch that, though. can’t teach that.
There’s no question he’s a good athlete, I’m just not sure if he’s a good quarterback.
imagine if chip got him instead of foles that first year. superbowl probably
Didn’t he come out in the 2015 draft? Chip’s offense had already started to lose its luster by then.
yes, the timing doesn’t work. but what a match it would hae been
I think we could’ve been the Harbaugh-Kaepernick 49ers with that duo. Not sure if we could’ve built sustainable success though.
Wow, what a sequence of plays. The Chiefs THOUGHT they caught a break with the running into the kicker penalty, then the Titans THOUGHT they caught a break with the offsetting penalties.
See all you doubters, it is actually an advantage that we are starting Foles in the playoffs instead of Wentz!
Unfortunately this ruins out playoff chances for next season even if Wentz is back to 100%.
Since it is already a known fact that we have no chance next season, I guess I have to wait to 2019 to get excited about anything to do with this team.
its certainly been a closer, more interesting game than I thought it would.
Really should not be close – if the Chiefs blow this somehow it will be a classic Andy Reid inexplicable playoff loss.
True. This should’ve been over by now, but give Mariota some credit. After that awful pick he’s been playing well.
Gruden & his partner are right….without Kelce out there, the Chiefs offense looks shaky.
Reid is going to blow this isn’t he?
The thing that annoys me is this would pave the Patriots’ way to the AFC Championship game. They will annihilate the Titans.
Happens every year. They got to play Tebow in the second round.
Mariota will be replaying that misthrow in his head all offseason if the Titans go on to lose this game.
Never mind.
This is what a choke looks like.
I like Andy as a person and think he’s on the whole a good coach, but I’m glad he’s not our coach anymore.
I feel bad for Andy
WTF is Alex Smith thinking?
Holy end of game Reid, Batman!
Not over just yet. Chiefs have 3 Timeouts and the 2 minute warning.
I can’t believe this garbage Titans team is going to be in the divisional round.
That was amazing, the most Andy Reid thing ever. Instead of just punting it they try for it on 4th and 9, coming out a timeout the snap comes before Alex Smith is expecting it, then heaving it into double coverage downfield.
Andy Reid is the least clutch coach ever.
I don’t know what the hell the thought was there. It’s a low percentage throw and if you don’t get the first down it drastically reduces your chances of winning the game.
Hit WR in the hands. The throw could have been better but it was there.
In the cold weather though it’s not a sure thing even if you hit the guy right in the hands. Tons of drops today.
Mariotta stock over Wentz stock now that he won a play off game and threw a TD to himself?lol
Crazy year of football. I almost expect the London Jaguars to win it all
I was not impressed by Mariota today, honestly. He made a couple nice plays but he also looked pretty overwhelmed at times and that interception was horrendous.
I think Belichick will pick him apart like a turkey at Thanksgiving next week.
It’ll be a slaughter. This Titans team is so fraudulent, and think if we were in the AFC they would be our draw for next week.
Gave me a Cam Newton vibe without you know being a douche.
That was hardly “hitting him right in the hands” dude, it was too far, you could say it hit his hands, as in at full extension it clanged off his outstretched fingers, but there’s no way you can put that down as a drop on the WR.
I said it was there, a better throw and that’s a completion. It did hit him in his hands but would be a tough catch. All in all not a terrible play call
Missing best player on O and quite a few good pass rushers. This really sucks because there is no way Tenn can beat Patriots.
Give big red props for saving those timeouts until the end of the game. I’ve never been him change it up like that before.
Holy shit.
He was 100% down.
Yes. Thought AR got bailed out by his defense there.
Saved a timeout for Reid to misuse later too.
For once he has all three of his timeouts at the end of a half.
Was rooting for the Chiefs. Too bad.
Still plenty of time tho.
Let’s see some big balls Mularkey.
Nevermind.
Wow. This is one of the worst playoff losses I’ve ever seen. So glad I’m not a Chiefs fan tonight.
Outright!
I picked the Chiefs to cover. Somebody usually goes 11-0 in my playoff pool so there goes my chance at winning ANY money this year. Ah well.
The point spreads were so crazy, I picked all underdogs.
Tennessee is so bad though. They’re going to lose by 30 to the Pats next week.
Andy was such a frustrating coach.
Way better game than I was expecting.
It was close and had some exciting plays, but it was very sloppy – bad drops, dumb interceptions, etc.
Still though, yeah it was better than I expected, given that I thought it would be a total snoozer.
Gives me hope. U kinda just described our birds there…. 😉
I’ve always had hope. You play that game 10 times and the Chiefs win it 9, but you never know what’s going to happen in the playoffs when it’s one and done.
Said the same thing to my wife. The better team doesn’t always win.
When Henry got the first down, the Chiefs should have let him keep going to try to let him score.
Well, if nothing else, this game reminded us of why we we’re largely happy when AR stepped down and went elsewhere. love the guy, just don’t want him coaching my team ever again.
Always the same with Big Red. He’s a very good coach but will always bungle it in the end
Agreed. At this point we know what his tragic flaw is.
Shut out in the 2nd half man, Andy come on.
We made a mistake letting AR go, right? Right guys? Right?
*crickets*
We did. We made serious mistake. We waited about 4 years too long.
bam!
I wouldn’t have fired him after he went to the NFC Championship game in 2008.
The brief Michael Vick renaissance delayed changes that were long needed though.
Andy Reid and choking in the play-offs – name a better duo?
I still love Big Red though. Its just so typical Andy.
Derrick Henry my dude getting me 26, but it could have been even more spectacular if he had that first half TD. Coulda been 32. So frustrating for my fantasy team. I had Kelce, he gets concussed. I had Alex Smith, he got shut down in the 2nd half. I had Harrison Butker, he clanged a FG off the goal post. I had Derrick Henry, he gets a TD wiped out by a false start.
Not only that but the TD that Henry should have got ended up going to Mariota instead, which hurts me.
So somehow my team is still doing good, and yet it could have been spectacular.
Edit: I should add that the false start the cost Henry the first half TD, against people who have Mariota, but not Henry, it was a 16 point swing against me. -6 points for Henry, and +10 for Mariota. Absolutely fucking brutal. I hope Delanie Walker stubs his big toe in the locker room.
wait, the chiefs lost??
oh yes they did.
Fuck I hope Doug isn’t like Andy in the playoffs.
Fuck I hope Doug isn’t like Andy.
Fixed.
I don’t see reason to believe he will be.
He’s good at managing the clock, he’s not afraid to be aggressive in big moments, and he’s proven himself to be a good game planner. He outcoached Sean McVay in the biggest game of the season.
Time will tell, of course. But as of right now I’m not worried.
So can we stop hearing all this slobbering from commentators about how great the Chiefs fans are and how intimidating a place Arrowhead is to play? They’ve lost 6 straight playoff games there going back more than two decades, including several in which they were heavily favored.
Reid, next year, turn over coaching–I mean all of it–once the playoffs start.
Reid needs to leave playcalling to his OC, and hire some kid who grew up playing Madden to manage the clock and the tempo of his offense. All he needs to do is game plan during the week and do some Garrettesque clapping on Sundays.
one game for the future of Earth–Reid or Chuckie?
I honestly don’t want either of them – Chuckie rode Tony Dungy’s defense to a SB title, but otherwise his coaching record isn’t that impressive. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t flop in his second go-around with the Raiders.
Ironically, Dungy rode Peyton Manning to the Superbowl and HOF.
welcome our new alien overlords.
Not Reid. He crumbles under pressure. He should coach the Bengals or Browns where making it to the playoffs is the same as winning a ring
As long as we don’t lose like *that*
Question. What fraction of the stands are Falcons fans?
Goff not off to a great start.
lol-goff
Rams about to prove they are soft as fuck
no way two home teams go down in a row.
It happens more frequently than you’d think. In 2015 all four road teams won in the Wild Card round. In 2013 and 2011 three out of four road teams did.
McVay has red hair too.
Obviously super early, but you see the difference between an inexperienced QB and a playoff veteran on those first series – Goff panicked and rushed a screen throw, then went down and gave himself up for a sack, while Ryan just stood back there cool as a cucumber even as the pocket collapsed around him in the end zone.
And threw a 2 yard pass on 3rd and 10.
think of other bad possible outcomes in that situation
I took that as playing it safe and giving his punter some space rather than forcing anything. Besides it was to Julio jones who makes things happen.
Not a Ryan fan. One of the most overrated players in the NFL.
I think he’s overrated if people want to talk about him like he’s on the level of Brady or Rodgers. But he’s a legit top 7 or 8 QB in the league.
Without Julio, he’s JAG.
*shrug* I disagree. There are several guys I’d take ahead of him if I were starting team, but JAG? That’s harsh. Come on, it’s not like he’s Dak Prescott. 😉
I’m with xeynon on this one. Ryan’s a good QB, top 15 at the very least, probably top 10. Elite? no. But you can win a SB with this guy.
Personally the only guys I’d definitely take over Ryan would be:
Rodgers
Brady
Wentz
Wilson
Roethlisberger
Brees
Luck (if healthy)
Watson is a probable, but I want to see a larger sample size + how he comes back from injury.
Stafford, Rivers, and Newton are about on the same level.
Garoppolo and Goff could get there but not yet.
Other than that, I don’t think there’s anyone I’d prefer over Matty Ice. So he’s top 10 at the very worst.
All 4 teams have looked unimpressive so far. Keep selling the Eagles short, they only have best pass rush rate and run defense…. O yeah and a real home field advantage!
i hope that place is fucking rocking next week
I would bet my life on it. If not I will revoke our status as:
“Best Die Hard fanbase”
1.Eagles
2.Bills
3.Browns
4.Lions
The Browns fans held a parade to honor the “achievement” of their team going 0-16, a bunch of the players got pissed off at them, and the organizers of the parade basically said “piss off – if you don’t want be made fun of, play better than one of the worst teams in NFL history”. Gotta give those people credit, not only are they hard luck, they have a sense of humor about it.
I only put them 3rd because they lost their team at one point.
Bills got the 2 spot because their fans have to jump through flaming tables to get hyped for the Bills (Usually)
I don’t disagree with your rankings.
Vikings probably deserve a mention though. That is a fan base with a lot of crushing playoff losses in their past.
I feel it’s your responsibility as a fan to be loud when you attend a home game. If you want to sit down and be quiet, stay home
This is why I think people are underrating the Eagles’ chances – it’s not that they’re wrong about the Eagles having serious and possibly fatal flaws, it’s that they’re wrong about the other teams in the NFC not having serious and possibly fatal flaws.
This is what they did most of the regular season. i like how our team is built.
We have advantages in the trenches on both sides and probably will have a better special teams as well. I hope we come out aggressive, I don’t wanna see a “Seattle” game plan next week
I am starting to come around in a chances next week. I think HFA will be huge for our defense.
Wow that is some dumb shit by the Rams.
In polite circles, we call that inexperience. But I like your term better.
The punt hit Blake Countess in the foot even before the returner
Yes, which is why I said “dumb shit by the Rams” and not “dumb shit by Cooper” – Countess should not have been anywhere close to his own return man in that situation.
If I was falcon fan I would be screaming “run the damn ball”
rams choking a little
I knew there was a reason we cut Blake Countess!
Lets see some “coach of the year” play calling from Mcvay. I’m not sold on these fake LA Rams
Their only hope is the Falcons choking Romo Style
Rams look more likely to choke than the Falcons do.
its early. If they settle down and start running the ball, they’ll be fine.
For sure, it’s definitely too early to accuse either team of choking.
I’d just say so far it looks like the Falcons are more composed than the Rams are.
I think they are both Fluffers this year.
We got this
I would trade all our RBs for Gurley straight up.
And all our 4ths
I would even name him Patriot of the week, ALL Season!
If the Patriots lose in the playoffs and Belichick is clearly on his way out I hope he gives Brady that award for the postseason loss as an “eff you” on his way out the door.
lol. I like how salty Al Michaels was about that replay taking so long.
I like how he says “AJAYEEEE”
matt ryan: stop trying to scramble, this D is too fast
Looks like a late hit to me.
Collinsworth was right though.
Stealing J. Mills patented finger wag.
needs more wag, less finger
don’t really see us moving the ball on either team. kind of pessimistic, i guess?
not scared of ATL Def
We won’t be lighting up either defense. I do think we can beat either team in a 17-14 type slugfest though.
This is why aim not afraid of the rams. Goff is not ready for big time football. Add a long road trip and the cold and I don’t think he stands a chance. If they find a way to win today I’ll be rooting hard for them to beat the Vikings.
Agreed.
Look at us agreeing on stuff…
As much as we have butted heads I don’t think we disagree on as much as it might seem. Some of it is just a difference in emphasis.
you think nick foles is?
i went back and watched the giants game and felt a lot better about him. recency bias i guess.
maybe we should all watch the 2013 raiders game
No I do not, but I like our HFA, OL, and defense better. I am not a Nick Foles guy, but With QBs being equal I like the eagles. Keep NO away tho.
Foles is not as talented as Goff, but (1) he does have postseason experience and is a more mature and experienced person in general from all appearances and (2) he has HFA, a great D, and a running game to rely on, and won’t have to do as much as Goff will.
Rams keep trying to give it away.
If Cooper keeps fumbling he WILL be going to the Pro Bowl, because he’s not going to have to worry about the Super Bowl.
Orlando is a lot nicer than Minneapolis this time of year.
Not as nice as Hawaii though. I bet the players are pissed they moved it.
True that.
It’s been in the 30s all week here in Orlando. Feels like Minneapolis
No. No it does not. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/ca25843233a50e82878bbba187b8e064061ec37516a62e74495e5d49d574d50e.png
Screw that. I don’t miss the cold at all.
Hahahaha Pharoah Cooper
they wish they had kenjon barner.
So if these Belichick is leaving the Pats rumors are true (and color me highly skeptical), does that make Josh McDaniels the front runner to take over in New England?
not if he gets hired somewhere else first.
Would you want to take over a team with a 41 y/o, on-his-last-legs-whether-he-wants-to-admit-it-or-not Brady and all the pressure that comes from following one of the greatest dynasties in the history of the sport?
I don’t think that’s as good a job as it might seem on the surface.
I agree. That is going to be a rough spot to come in as a new coach.
If Goff doesn’t respond here I think the Rams are in trouble.
Does this showing get taken into account for Coach of the Year? If they don’t get it together and DP wins a game with Foles does he steal the award?
It should already be DPs. Who cares how old a coach is? We went 2-0 in games that mattered without Wentz.
I don’t think Goff will have as good a year next year. They are kind of a gimmick offense. Goff is Dak from last year.
Goff has a significantly better arm.
Dak is more athletic though.
Rather have the guy with the arm first however I don’t know whether Goff has it in him to be a top echelon qb or not.
Yeah I agree – I think they’re in the same tier as far as NFL QBs go.
I’m just saying that he is getting the Dak treatment. He will be found out by next year with all the tape. He can make a few plays but I don’t really buy his game.
I would take these guys over Goff:
1.Wentz
2.Carr
3.Trubisky
4. Marriota
5.Winston
Yeah I favored Wentz over Goff before the draft while some favored Goff. I don’t watch Winston hardly ever. I just don’t watch Tampa. Carr had an injured back this year. I can’t tell where he’s at now. Did he regress or is it a bump in the road? Will Gruden help him?
Carr will be ok. With coming back from that injury and then hurting his back I feel like he was “Trying to do too much”
Gruden will improve his game but they really need a RB and TE
I loved Wentz’s game from the first snap I saw
Has Gruden ever successfully developed a young QB? The only QB he’d had sustained success with as a head coach was Gannon who was an experienced vet when he played for Gruden. Gannon did play far better under Gruden than anywhere else in his career, but Gruden wasn’t ever able to develop a QB in Tampa.
he’s not a young qb
Nope but Carr is already a mostly finished product. He was sloppy this year just like his Oline and WRs. Lynch was also a big disappointment.
Gruden is over rated and will probably wash out. I remember him having the shittiest WRs while at Tampa
you crazy
My 12 year old has bigger arms than Goff. At best he looks like a top 12-16 kinda guy. I’m just not a fan at all.
Ryan Tannehill-ish
But yes I’m crazy!
I would not take Dak over Goff for what that’s worth
“They are kind of a gimmick offense.”.
Faclons went to the sb with that offense.
I mean going up to the line waiting 15 seconds left see what the defense does….
To me that means the young guy might not be able to read a D (Like Dak)
Or how about the center calling all the pass protections…
Falcons have Julio Jones with that gimmick offense. Last night was proof if u shut down or limit Elliot(Oops Gurley) than Dak (OOPS Goff) will not be able to beat U.
The voting takes place before the playoffs start.
Thanks. Wasn’t sure
GUys have been slipping all over the place this game
just saw over on BGN: The Eagles blocked the Texans request to interview Joe Douglas. Good.
https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2018/1/6/16859088/eagles-block-texans-request-interview-joe-douglas-houston-philadelphia-general-manager-search-nfl-gm
they can do that?
As long as their season is not over, according to the article. Once we’re out or win the Sxxxxxxxx, they can’t block it anymore. So it depends on the Texans’ patience.
GOOOOOOOOD for us 🙂
If I was coaching against the rams I would have the D shift after the coaches commumication cuts out at 15 seconds
Yep, but you have to do it without letting them catch you unprepared mid-shift.
I just find it “Too cute” on the Rams part. Honestly it reminds me of Chipshit. Very Gimmick-ey
I’m no Falcons fan but man am I enjoying this
Good comparison. Wonder if the McVay glow will wear off as fast as Chip’s did.
McVay has a much larger playbook. Chip only had four plays.
Chip only needed 4 plays if the damn players would execute
lol
I think the playoffs are the type of environment where your QB being unable to call his own audibles and being dependent on the coach to do so becomes an issue.
No I think he is a solid coach. I just don’t think he is some genius or savant or whatever.
He took over a team Jeff Fisher was tanking and the team is in huge market. He deserves some praise but no way should he be COTY.
That scared third down throw into the dirt with the blitzer closing was a bad look for Goff.
attrition, not going to root for it, but i’ll take it.
That’s another benefit of #1 seed. Not only do we get rest but the opponent gets even more banged up.
Aaron Donald is so much fun to watch. Just amazing technique. I’m half-convinced he could be a gold medalist as a heavyweight judoka, he uses his hands so well.
I think he and Derek Barnett are my two favorite DL in the whole league.
Falcons Defense is fast and swarms to the ball. Reminds me of our birds a bit
no one on their DL scares me
Me neither. They are quick to be sure, but I think you can beat them up and run the ball on them. Vic Beasley weighs like 235 lbs.
They are finesse and we are physical.
They do swarm very well, attacking the ball carrier. I thought Rams would take advantage and go misdirection…. I was very wrong
One guy had 6 sacks in a game against the cowboys. He violated the great wall for 6 sacks man. With no Sean Lee!
Not buying it? Yeah me either lol
Chaz Green played as bad as any OT I’ve ever seen in that game, including the infamous Winston Justice/Osi Omeniyiora game.
I know right. Its been mostly a great year of football!
gurley still scares me, if they had stuck with him against the eagles, i think they would have beat us
Gurley is the best RB in the league by a decent margin IMO. He’s as good as Cowboys fans think Elliott is.
I really want to stop upvoting u! You def hit the nail on the head here
I just think how tough do u need to be growing up with that name:
Todd Gurley
Dudes a legend in my book lol
I hope this is a close game and very physical…
Nice throw by Goff.
The Rams kicker’s last name in German means “F*ucking”. Congratulations!
I love this educational side of the Igglesblitz forum. Very under-rated.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG_TNYTHN5E
the number of spelling mistakes in that video about grammar was disconcerting
I think this is some amateur video made to accompany the audio – I heard it long before YouTube was a thing, think it’s an old comedy routine.
I would lmao if they started blurring out his jersey.
Reaching back (too many) years to my high school German classes, wundervoll! Toll!
So ideally we want the Falcons to hold on to win this game, while taking as much punishment as possible.
So far things are going pretty well, knock on wood.
just a scratch
What a stupid TO by Atlanta
We know from last year that Quinn is dumb about stuff like this.
THEy would have at least 15 less seconds to work with. So dumb. You wait until 3rd down before using a TO in that situation. Not 2nd & 4
Quinn is the defensive version of Andy Reid as far as stuff like clock management goes.
What is with the condition of this field? Weather is not an issue, guys should not be slipping and sliding all over the place.
That was a beautiful throw by Goff.
Also, if this is not a catch, I’m done with instant replay.
Is there Ice on the field or something. I have never seen so many players on the turf… It’s really odd
They said it was a new field. It’s dangerously bad.
Dumb . dumb. dumb. Goff…
Al Michaels is such a grumpy old man, I love it.
He definitely took his pills tonight!
Overturning this gives LA time back.
Rams fans booing a decision that’s actually in their team’s favor. SMH. No wonder LA has a reputation as a terrible football city.
Or they were Falcons fans who understood the implications.
In that case Angelenos let fans of a rival team take over their stadium for the first playoff game in the city in more than 30 years. Either way, they deserve their reputation for being terrible fans.
That Fickin kicker…
GE, am I doing it right?
Ficken hell! Yes mate. Lol
Alright, let’s go Falcons. Get this done.
I like Devonta Freeman. He runs as fierce as any small RB I can remember.
baller – i’d take him if they let him hit the market, behind a good o-line he’s the man
Cris: That’s not good. He is a really good player.
WTH, Cris? It sucks when any player gets hurt.
Haha. I was thinking exactly the same.
Yeah.. TBF I think he meant “that’s not good for the Rams’ defense from a football standpoint”, but it definitely didn’t come out right.
Blake Countess, ex-Eagle?
The very same.
Connor Barwin, Derek Carrier, Blake Countess
I forgot about Derek Carrier. Surprised he’s still in the NFL.
The Rams’ offensive line is doing a really nice job giving Goff time for the most part.
This is the kind of of performance we’ll need from our OL if Foles is going to get the job done.
Anyone else also a bit concerned with Falcons’ D playing against us? They have played pretty decent so far against Rams. Falcons CBs are playing good tight coverage and if not for some really good passes from Goff, they would have done a pretty good job so far!
all the teams are pretty good since we’re in the playoffs but ATL D prob the weakest of the bunch other than saints
Every team left in the playoffs has some defensive playmakers. The Falcons scare me less than most because there’s is a fast, finesse defense and I think we can bully them.
Look at it this way. Even with 2 ST turnovers the Falcons have only mustered 19 points. I would say we have a better D and better HFA. I don’t expect our offense to do much, but they might not have to.
Yeah, I am not overly impressed by either of these teams. The Falcons’ inability to convert red zone opportunities is inexplicable given the weapons they have.
Matt Ryan has struggled throughout his career in Philly. They were better and we were worse last year and we handled them with ease. Every game isn’t different and I’m not confident at all we win, but Ibthink Atlanta gives us the best shot. Then a slugfest against Carolina or Minnesota.
I think our defense matches up very well against them, and they are a team that has struggled in the elements historically.
We’re unlikely to blow anybody out, but I like our chances against Atlanta as much as against anybody.
All this past week: “We really want the Falcons to beat the Rams. They are the best matchup for the Eagles.”
All next week if the Falcons hold on to win this game: “The Falcons beat the Rams, they must be really good. There’s no way the Eagles can beat them.”
LOL. Yup, you’ve pretty much nailed the Philadelphian mindset there.
would you rather have nick foles or jared goff for a playoff game..?
Tough one. Goff is clearly more talented, but he looks shook. We’ve seen Foles play well in a playoff game.
For me it’s close, but i think I’d take Goff. When Foles has an off night nothing seems to go right. He can’t seem to recover from a rough start. Goff can have an off night but still make a few key throws.
people forget that 2013 is 4+ years ago.
not sure why they dont run gurley more
I’d give him 25-30 carries a game if he was on my team.
I say that after every single rams game.
Hahah just saw Matt Schaub on the sideline.. I played against him in high school. He wasn’t that good at the time, I’m amazed he made it to the pros and has stuck around all these years.
absolutely hate the new verizon guy
Me too. Their commercials are 100% targeted at milennials and I just can’t relate.
He makes me want to switch service providers. I haven’t been this annoyed by a commercial since the Hyundai caroling hipsters from a few years ago.
Chevy commercials are almost as bad, but i dont drive a chevy and never plan on it.
I rented a Chevy Cruze a few years back and it was a really great car. Lots of pickup, handled really well, and was very comfortable with tons of trunk space. Got good reviews in the car mags too.
I can’t stand the little girl in the Apple iPad Pro commercial.
The girl in the iPhone X emoji commercial is pretty irritating too.
“If it’s alright, I wanna kick it with you all night.”
Yep. “What’s a computer?” “Why don’t you Google it, you snotty little shit?”
That’s the one I’m talking about. It pisses me off some much for some reason.
The Apple ad that annoys me is the iPhoneX one with the singing animated emojis.
Seriously, I don’t need a smartphone with a singing poop emoji. Just give me a battery that will last more than 3 hours without needing to be recharged.
Singing poop emojis. Nothing illustrates how far we’ve fallen quite as well as that commercial does.
Yeah he’s gotten really old ha.
why does al michaels never sound excited
When you’ve been around as long as he has, railed as much coke as he has, and banged as many hookers as he has, it’s hard to get excited about something as mundane as a playoff game.
The Rams are in deep doo-doo now.

It’s hard to believe this is the same Rams offense we saw a few weeks ago. In the off-chance they really did rest their starters because they were angling for a chance to play us, this is extremely satisfying.
Goff has spit the bit in his first playoff start. He’s made a few nice throws, but he’s also looked really discombobulated at times.
And their special teams haven’t done them any favors.
That 3rd & long throw was a beauty. Thought it was going to turn the game. They still have a shot here, but this drive is taking a ton of time off the clock.
He is talented, but he looks like the inexperienced QB he is. Watching him you understand why it is that QBs making their first playoff starts have such a bad record historically.
Just wish we had the chance to defy those odds this year.
Incomplete pass.
yes sir
That’s game.
See you next week Atlanta.
Welp, that’s our opponent. I’ll take it.
We were asking for Atlanta. We got them. Moreover, this result (1) eliminates the Rams and (2) ensures that we’ll only have to play one of New Orleans or Minnesota to make it to the Super Bowl.
*at most one of…
(Could be Atl, Car)
Good point. That’s probably not the most likely outcome, but it’s still in play.
Falcons inability in the redzone will be a massive boon for the Eagles. Think we can keep them sub 20 points. Question is can Foles lead enough quality drives to get over the line? “Good” Foles can… lets hope he turns up next Saturday.
foles is terrible in red zone – hard to overestimate how well wentz performed in the redzone this year – crazy.
Both the Saints and Panthers are probably cursing that they’ll have to play the Vikings instead of the Eagles next weekend if they win tomorrow.
Bring on the Falcons!
If we can keep jones under control, stop the run and run the ball we will be in good shape.
And we should be able to bring be pressure on Ryan.
And we don’t have to deal with that Fickin kicker.
They’ll also be playing their second straight road game, after a cross country trip, outdoors in the cold. All conditions that will favor us.
Might not be as cold as now, some reports are saying we could hit 50s next weekend.
High of 36 for Sunday. Higher temps and showers for Friday and Saturday. Wouldn’t mind seen that rain delayed a day and turning to some snow.
I know some people don’t buy things like this, but they certainly have an impact. Look at our defense vs the giants or the broncos vs us. Several QBs have struggled in the cold. They have the better Qb no doubt, but these factor including HFA could be a big boost for us. It’s why HFA was so important to have any shot without wentz
I don’t think they’ll make the difference if they play better than us. But every marginal advantage we can get helps.
They still make a difference even if we lose. Just would just overcome them.
our qb struggles in the cold.
Agreed, but our QB could easily struggle hen it’s noce. Cold can be an equalizer
Malcolm Jenkins was great against a healthy Julio Jones last year. This year, Jones is limping after every other play.
Cooper makes Barner look like Brian Mitchell.
How to we like the odds vs the Falcons? I’m at 50/50 right now.
That would put us well above the average performance of the higher seeds so far.
I’d hope so. It’ll depend on which Nick Foles shows up on the field. If Foles is having a good day I’m bumping it to 70/30.
We only need the Nick Foles of three weeks ago. This isn’t asking too much.
Yeah agreed, if he plays like he did against the Giants I think we’re significant favorites.
I think we all hope we get the Nick Foles who has DirectTV.
Want to see what the weather is going to be like.
Assuming the current forecast holds, 50-50 sounds about right to me.
Rain rain go away?
Special teams miscues are a death knell in the playoffs.
The Rams would fare better if they didn’t have Ryan Reynolds playing quarterback. Thematically appropriate but strategically unsound.
Imagine picking him over Wentz
Feeling ok about this matchup next week
This team can beat the Falcons. I feel more confident in this matchup than any other that could have happened.
