Gameday – PHI at TB

The Eagles are in for a challenging day, especially on offense. AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith are out. Lane Johnson is out as well. It was hoped he would be able to play, but he didn’t pass through all the concussion protocols in time.

Jalen Hurts will have Fred Johnson at RT while he waits for Jahan Dotson, Parris Campbell and John Ross to get open. That’s not exactly what Howie Roseman had in mind when he put this roster together. The overall OL is still very good. And Johnson did play well last week. Hurts still has Saquon Barkley and Dallas Goedert to get the ball to so it isn’t a case of the Eagles being completely overwhelmed.

Hurts needs to have a good game. He’ll need to make plays and avoid mistakes. This is a big chance for him to quiet his critics. One of the key reasons you pay a QB big money is to help you get through tough situations like this.

We pretty much knew what this would look like. Tyler Steen will be the top backup OL. Darian Kinnard is active. Landon Dickerson does have a wrap on his wrist and Mekhi Becton hurt his hand last week. Let’s hope those guys stay healthy today.

Tampa has issues of their own.

Luke Goedke being out hurts. Justin Skule will start at RT and he’s really struggled this season. The Eagles DL need to have another big game today. This would be a great time for Bryce Huff to have a breakout game.

Vita Vea will play, but he’s not 100 percent. Nor is RB Rachaad White, who is dealing with an illness.

The Eagles are slight favorites in this game. It does feel like they are the better team. But they can’t afford to be sloppy against the Bucs. Hurts needs to play a clean game and Nick Sirianni needs to make good decisions.

Feed Saquon and play good defense. Find a way to win and then the bye is next week. And boy is that coming at the right time.
