Gameday is finally here. The Eagles will try to make their second Super Bowl in three years. Jayden Daniels will try to be the first rookie QB in league history to lead his team to the big game.

We’ve got some weird injury news. Cam Jurgens is active. But there is a report that he might only play in case of emergency. If this is true, Landon Dickerson slides in to play center and Tyler Steen takes over at LG. This isn’t ideal heading into the biggest game of the year. Dickerson was a center at Alabama and has played a bit in the NFL, but nothing like this. Steen has started this year so he knows what he is doing, but facing Jonathan Allen won’t be easy, even if Allen is less than 100 percent. Dickerson will have to help on Allen. That means Mekhi Becton needs to handle his business. He won’t be getting a lot of help.

This could hurt the Brotherly Shove. Dickerson is the key blocker on that play. With him at center, can Steen get enough push from LG to get the movement that is needed. Think about how the play always goes to the left. That’s not by accident. Jalen Hurts goes where Dickerson is blocking. Keep an eye on this.

As for the rest of the inactives…

No major surprises. The Eagles did activate FB Khari Blasingame and LB Nicholas Morrow for the game.

As for Washington…

Cosmi has a torn ACL and is done for the year. Payne is the surprise. He’s been banged up and trying to play through it. He hasn’t had much of an impact in the first two playoff games. Washington will give rookie Johnny Newton a chance to play more. Can he hold up against the run? Newton did have 2 sacks this year and has shown some potential as a pass rusher.

Jalen Hurts will have a brace, but should be close to normal.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Vic Fangio and the defense can do today. Washington is a big challenge, but the point to having a veteran coach and great defense is to handle days like today. Every stop is crucial, whether on downs, a takeaway or simply forcing a punt.

Saquon Barkley has already cemented his place in Eagles history. He can make it an even more special place with a big game in the biggest game of the year. Let’s hope he’s got plenty of yards left in those legs.

If the Eagles win the line of scrimmage, they win this game.
