Posted November 2nd, 2026 | No Comments »The Eagles led 10-0 in the first quarter. Life was good. Unfortunately things went downhill from there and the Eagles lost 27-10. They are now 2-6, last place in the NFC East and actually the entire NFC. No bueno.
The defense bounced back from the Dallas debacle and had some good moments. The offense did not build on their performance from Monday. They struggled all game long. You fix one thing and then something else breaks. The coaches haven’t been able to get the offense, defense, and STs to all play well in the same game. That’s how you end up at 2-6 and have your fans talking about the draft on November 1.
There isn’t one thing to do in order to fix this. The team was struggling even when Jalen Hurts was playing. Things have been worse since he’s been out, but there are a lot of factors that go into a season like this. It isn’t just injuries. The coaching has been poor. The players don’t show much of a sense of urgency. Every team is like a chemistry experiment. This one has gone terribly wrong. Everyone has a hand in this mess. The season isn’t technically over, but anyone with two eyes and a pulse can see this trainwreck isn’t going anywhere. Every player and coach is auditioning for jobs in 2027.
The crazy thing is that the season isn’t even halfway over. There are still nine games left to play. The coaches need to do whatever they can to improve the level of play, but they also need to keep an eye on the future. If Tanner McKee continues to struggle, maybe you do give Joe Milton or Cole Payton a chance to play. See if Eli Stowers can show you anything. Get Ty Robinson more snaps. And so on.
Rookie RT Markel Bell struggled mightily vs Washington. That doesn’t mean he’s a bad player. Lane Johnson had some bad days in his rookie year. It is important to see how Bell plays to get an idea if he looks like the RT of the future. Dealing with some adversity will be a good test for him. Bell will study the tape to see what he needs to fix. And the coaches need to see what they can do to better support him.
Jeffrey Lurie can’t be a happy man right now. That is two straight primetime losses to division rivals by 17 points each. The Eagles look hapless. Lurie isn’t a knee-jerk type of owner, but he could start pushing for some changes if things continue to be this bad. The trade deadline is just over a week away and you can bet Howie Roseman will be willing to make deals if the offers are right.
Nick Sirianni looked like a beaten down man in his press conference. He is unbelievably frustrated by all the mistakes this team makes. He can live with talent issues. That is what you have to deal with when backups get on the field. But guys not getting line up correctly is unacceptable. Defenders not setting the edge is unacceptable. Missed blocking assignments are unacceptable. Sirianni likes his teams to be great at the things that don’t require talent. This group isn’t close to great when it comes to that stuff. They make dumb mistakes, often at the worst times. Something is just off.
There are a ton of questions, but very few answers right now. Sirianni and his staff need to keep searching for solutions. There is still a lot of football left to play. It would certainly help to get some injured players back. Still, as I mentioned earlier, the problems go well beyond injuries.
