Day 3 Review
Posted April 26th, 2025 | 2 Comments »The Eagles went into Day 3 with 6 picks. Howie didn’t always love his options so he moved down a few times. The team ended up making 8 picks. The focus was on defense.
4th Round – DT Ty Robinson – Nebraska – 6-5, 288
The Eagles needed someone who can rush the passer up the middle. Robinson can do that. Here are my notes on him.
Played in 60 games with 47 starts. Had 7 sacks and 12 TFLs as a senior. Can play 3T, 1T or 0T. Very good club move. Quick off the ball. Able to make himself skinny and get through gaps. Disruptive. Good motor. Makes his share of hustle plays. Struggles to get off blocks at times. Really struggles with double teams. Gets pushed back in the run game more than you want. Needs to be in a 1-gap system where he can attack. Gets off-balance and ends up on the ground more than you want. Really good showing at the Combine. Good athlete.
Robinson isn’t quite as athletic as Milton Williams, but is a bit bigger. And you have to love his production in 2024.
Robinson should be able to come in and push for a role as a rookie.
5th Round – CB Mac McWilliams – UCF – 5-10, 191
The Eagles have a pair of great young corners so two spots are locked down. Kelee Ringo and Adoree Jackson will battle for the other spot. McWilliams is coming to town to offer depth outside and in the slot.
Versatile DB who can play in the slot or outside. Smart. Shows good awareness. Not physically special. Has quick feet. Doesn’t always locate the ball well. 36 career starts. 27 PDs, but only 2 INTs. Had a good showing at the Senior Bowl. Can be too grabby at times. Aggressive player who is a good tackler. Ran 4.41 so he’s got good speed.
McWilliams has good experience. He should be ready to come in and fight for a role.
5th Round – LB Smael Mondon – Georgia – 6-2, 224
We know the Eagles love Georgia defenders so this pick isn’t a shocker. I wasn’t sure if they would take another LB after drafting Jihaad Campbell in the first round. While Campbell is a tweener who can help on the edge, Mondon is an athletic cover LB. Very different games.
3-yr starter. 3 sacks, 3.5 TFLs in 2024. Led UGA in tackles in 2022. Was second in 2023. Missed time in 2024 so only finished seventh. Did break up 3 passes. At his best attacking downhill. Plays like a WLB. Good in space. Athletic LB with good range. Lean build. Grabby tackler. Good in coverage. Former safety. Was arrested for racing and reckless driving.
With Nakobe Dean rehabbing an injury, there was a need for depth on defense and STs. Mondon has the experience and athleticism to contribute as a rookie.
5th Round – C Drew Kendall – Boston College – 6-4, 308
Cam Jurgens had back surgery in the offseason so it makes sense to spend a resource on a true center.
37 career starts, all at center. Son of former NFL lineman Pete Kendall. Played OG as a prep and was a highly rated recruit. Athletic center. Good on the move. Quick off the ball. Not the strongest player. Wins more with positioning and athleticism. Needs to be better with his hands. Lets defenders get into his body more than you would like. Team captain. Was good player in a run-heavy offense.
It’s a relatively weak center class aside from Jared Wilson, but Boston College’s Drew Kendall stands out as a well-rounded prospect. He moves well, holds his ground against power, and while he may not have dominant flashes, he also avoids glaring mistakes on tape. He was my OC7… pic.twitter.com/oD2BOjtW44

Kendall offers depth at C and G. I’m sure they like his athleticism and the fact he’s a smart blocker.
6th Round – QB Kyle McCord – Syracuse – 6-3, 218
I was watching tape of TE prospect Oronde Gadsden and was really impressed with some of the throws coming his way. As I watched Syracuse games, McCord stood out. He can really throw the ball. McCord transferred from Ohio State and had a great year for SU. He’s got NFL size and a good arm. He is an accurate passer. He’s not afraid to make tough throws. I did think he struggled with pressure at times.

Nick Sirianni wants competition. McCord comes to Philly to battle it out with Dorian Thompson-Robinson. They have different styles, but will be battling for one roster spot.
6th Round – OT Myles Hinton – Michigan – 6-6, 325
The Eagles have good starting OTs. They would love to develop a young swing tackle to offer depth on both sides.
Trf from Stanford. Son of former NFL OT Chris Hinton. Has played LT and RT. Has 31 career starts. Big, strong OT. Plays with good pad level. Better run blocker than pass protector. Uses long arms effectively, but doesn’t have great feet. Could be a good backup at the next level.
Hinton has enough experience that you have an idea what you’re getting. He needs work, but does have some potential.
6th Round – OT Cameron Williams – Texas – 6-6, 334Â
There was some talk of Williams as a third or fourth round pick. I didn’t like him in that area. He was too raw for that value in my mind.
Played RT. Only has 16 career starts. Has excellent size. Long arms. Huge hands. Gets off-balance at times. Doesn’t have good feet. Doesn’t anchor as well as you would expect for a guy with his size. Good on down blocks. Is able to win with size and power in both the run and pass game. Needs work, but there is definitely something to work with.
Williams is a long term project. You don’t expect him to contribute this season. But he’s got legit size and some good tools to work with.
6th Round – ED Antwaun Powell-Ryland – Virginia Tech – 6-3, 258
The Eagles might have Campbell play some snaps at edge, but they still needed to add a full-time pass rusher to the mix.
Trf from Florida who really came alive at VT. Had 9.5 sacks in 2023 and 16 last season. Great production. Very quick off the ball. Has serious closing speed. Good athlete. Does a good job of finishing plays. Inconsistent run defender. Could be excellent situational rusher in the NFL. Has a good frame, but shorter arms than you like. 9 career FFs. Getting to the ball is usually a good sign for pass rushing prospects.
I wasn’t sure if the Eagles would like Powell-Ryland. I felt like he projected more as a situational rusher than future starter. But he was super productive and disruptive. Good player. Really good value late in the draft.
