    In his defense… the offense scored just 17 points. And we had a +3 turnover ratio plus a punt return TD and still won by just 7. Granted this was the best defense we have played so far and they looked OK — certainly much better than last week. Offense is still a concern but it was much better.

    We will always be low in the per-game yards rankings. Just the way it is when you face more total plays. If you go with yards per drive… yes we’ve been league average and might be better right now. After a terrible first half against the Falcons, they gave up 6 points the rest of the game to the Falcons, gave up 13 last week to Dallas (after being put in terrible position after terrible position), and gave up 17 this week. That is winning defense.

    I still judge Billy on his 1st two seasons. Yes, you have to look at YPP to get a better feel for just how good or bad a D is when you play the style of offense we do. Still, in a game where we should have been totally fired up, we came out completely flat against Atlanta. The Cowgirls were missing their biggest weapon and we knocked Romo out part way through the game. The Jets have Marshall and . . . .

    Billy is still giving up way too many deep passes. Need to get more creative in the blitz package to generate consistent pressure. Need to support the corners better and do a better job eliminating x-plays. After two seasons, I just don’t think Billy is the man for the job.

    Already responded to that when someone else brought it up, but I’ll repeat. YPP generally is ok, but the x-plays remain a huge problem. Blitzes have become predictable and no longer generate consistent pressure despite tons of talent in the front seven. I think the excuses that get made for Billy Davis mirror those made for Sam Bradford. Neither guy has ever been good in the pros yet they still have fans. We’re all entitled to an opinion, but I’ve seen enough of both to be ready to move on.
