The last time Stanford made it to that game was after the 1999 season. Before that…the 1971 season. The reason I bring this up is that making the Rose Bowl is a huge accomplishment for Coach David Shaw. If he was ever going to leave the school, it would be after something like this. Word is still that Shaw is staying put, but we’ll see what happens there. Congrats to him and the Cardinal on the trip to Pasadena.

I haven’t commented on the whole Vick concussion soap opera. I’ve not heard anything about a dispute. Vick has had a great relationship with the Eagles to this point. They gave him a 2nd chance and then made him the face of the franchise. He’s made a lot of money and rebuilt his life with the help of Andy Reid and Jeff Lurie.
I don’t really buy the conspiracy theories. I was told Vick had significant vision problems after the concussion. That’s different than some guys who just have headaches and some dizziness. The fact he’s slow in coming back seems pretty legit. If there is anything going on, we’ll find out eventually.
While Vick won’t be the Eagles QB next year (pretty sure of that anyway), he will likely start for someone. There is no reason to do anything risky with him right now. And getting back on the field isn’t going to change much for Vick. He’s had a crappy season. Playing in a few games at the end isn’t going to make teams suddenly think Vick is back to an elite level.
I do think it’s possible Vick gets back on the field. Andy Reid needs to see Nick Foles get the offense to be more productive. If that doesn’t happen and Vick does pass his tests…Reid might put him back in. The season is over, but Andy needs Foles to be able to successfully run the offense. That means converting 3rd downs and scoring TDs.

Jimmy Bama did a great post the other day on Brian Baldinger, Ray Didinger, Bryce Brown, and Bo Jackson. Baldinger is Captain Hyperbole. And he struck again, comparing Bryce to Bo Jackson, arguably the greatest athlete of the last 50 years.
Make sure you watch the Tecmo video. That is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while. I was in tears as I watched it. Freaking awesome.
Great post. Definitely check this out.
