DAL at PHI – 1st half

Posted: October 30th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 126 Comments »

Dion Lewis was in a car accident this morning and is inactive.  Ronnie Brown is going to be the backup RB and KOR.  He has never returned a KO in his NFL career.  Makes you wonder if Dallas will kick short to test him.  Lewis is okay, but is a bit shook up so the Eagles are going to let him sit out tonight.

This isn’t an ideal situation, but if Dallas kicks deep, we don’t even have to return KOs.  And I am sorta glad Ronnie will be part of the game after the way the trade situation went down.  He’s a pro, but guys like him need to be involved to stay sharp.  Who knows…maybe he makes a big play for us tonight.

INACTIVES

RB Dion Lewis
G Julian Vandervelde

DE Phillip Hunt
LB Keenan Clayton
S Jarrad Page
CB Curtis Marsh

Hated to see the Giants win today, but at least they couldn’t enjoy it.

Loved seeing the Skins get shut out by the Bills.  WAS has lost 3 in a row and are 3-4.

Go Eagles!!!

Honestly, if Brown just catches the ball in the end zone and kneels, he’ll probably have a better average than Dion Lewis did.

    PS: No comment on Clayton?

Forgot to mention that. Not a good sign for him. 2 games in a row inactive. You have to wonder if he’s done something to get in the doghouse or if he’s just not done enough to stand out and earn PT. Either way, not encouraging.

  15. 15 Corry Henry said at 8:13 PM on October 30th, 2011:

I’m having a hard time getting a read on this game. It seems for both teams, they’re their on worst enemy. On top of that, it’s a divisional game. You can never use stats, records, or anything really to make an educated guess as to who wins.

I will say that their Oline vs. our Dline is a hugely in our favor. However, it would not suprise me to see them A) run the ball and B) get the ball out as fast as possible. Given our tackling woes and the fact that both Austin and Bryant are tough to bring down, this could be a long night for the Eagles secondary. Hopefully the last 6 quarters they played were not an aberration. I’m also concerned about our 2nd half offense. It seems the Eagles go into coast mode rather than “kill” mode.

With all that said, go Eagles!

Nice job Henery. Are we drafting a kicker again next year?

  34. 34 Anonymous said at 8:45 PM on October 30th, 2011:

That was a little strange. Henery hasn’t seemed to have problems on getting his kicks deep so far in the past. That was two in a row. I know the cold is supposedly supposed to make the ball go a little shorter, but he should still be able to get better kicks than that.

  82. 82 Eric Weaver said at 9:17 PM on October 30th, 2011:

    Tommy,

The best thing about that score? Vick went through his progressions and threw to a receiver that wasn’t open at the time.

Haven’t we learned yet that Schmitt should not be a focal point of our red zone offense?

  121. 121 Anonymous said at 9:47 PM on October 30th, 2011:

It’s disappointing that we didn’t get the TD on that drive, but don’t really agree with the announcers on that play. Schmitt was clearly not the first read, but Dallas had the WRs covered well. With Vick getting pressured, he tossed it to Schmitt to get rid of the ball in hopes of being able to make a play.

  122. 122 Anonymous said at 9:52 PM on October 30th, 2011:

During the play it looked to me like Shady was targeted but got caught in traffic

  123. 123 Anonymous said at 9:58 PM on October 30th, 2011:

Possibly. It certainly looked like Maclin (I think) was running a route to the back corner of the endzone, and it looked like Vick was looking there as his first read, and then to a second read on the left side of the field (same side of the field) before tossing it towards Schmitt. Either way, I don’t think the play was designed to “catch the defense off guard” with a trick-type play call. The announcers were basically arguing that Schmitt shouldn’t be on the field at all in the redzone which I think is a bit much.
