Here is my Game Preview for PE.com.

Inactives for tonight:

QB Mike Vick
WR Jeremy Maclin
OL King Dunlap
OG Julian Vandervelde

DE Brandon Graham
DE Phillip Hunt
CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

Graham is the only surprise.  He had some kind of a rib injury.

Going back to NY is like returning to the scene of the crime.  Since our win at the New Meadowlands last year, we’re 3-9.  It is like some kind of curse is on this team.  Did DeSean Jackson anger the Football Gods by running along the goal line instead of just scoring?  That’s my theory.  Some might say there is just a general sense of hubris that set in.

Whatever the case, I hope and pray that we can exercise some demons tonight and get the curse removed.  What will that take?  Chad Hall scoring a TD maybe.  DJax being humble?  Sacrifice 72 virgins.  Heck, sacrifice 72 Virginians just to be safe.  Do something, but let’s get the Football Gods off our back.  Those guys are relentless.

* * * * *

Good news about 3-6…I’m not nervous about tonight.  Just gonna turn on the TV and watch the game.  I’ll yell once things get going.  Something tells me that the Eagles will give me something to yell about.

Well, I just ate Taco Bell, so that’s 1 Virginian sacrificed.

    71 to go.

BTW – Watching John Skelton play today removed all my remaining doubt. Juan Castillo must be fired.

Agreed. I can’t believe we let that guy beat us.

    Sickening.

  3. 3 Anonymous said at 7:21 PM on November 20th, 2011:

So our starting QB and our best WR are out today. Perfect game for us to give McCoy less than 15 carries to catch the defense off guard right?

  4. 4 Anonymous said at 7:27 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I like where your head is at. Now you’re thinking.

  5. 5 Anonymous said at 8:02 PM on November 20th, 2011:

If only Andy Reid believed in this kind of innovative thinking – maybe we wouldn’t be 3-6.

  6. 6 Niklas Dyrby Johansen said at 8:34 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Well, there’s your first three passes in a row.

  7. 7 Niklas Dyrby Johansen said at 8:36 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Make that four.

  8. 8 Anonymous said at 8:40 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Almost halfway through our first 15 scripted plays and we have 6 called passes and one run. Giants don’t stand a chance.

I’m betting the flea flicker makes its return to the playbook.

that’s one heck of a game preview! most concise, precise ever!

  12. 12 Anonymous said at 7:50 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Call me positive but if we win tonight, then all we have to do is win our last 6, Giants have to lose more, and Dallas has to lose one more, other than the game at Dallas where we beat them, and we win the division. Went to the Carolina monday night game in 06 and told my friend we were going to win out. We won our last 6, beat the Giants in the first round of the playoffs in OT. So there’s that.

  13. 13 Anonymous said at 7:52 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Won our last five in 06, again my mistake. Anyways, can’t wait for the playoffs!!

  14. 14 Anonymous said at 7:51 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Giants have to lose two more after we beat them tonight, sorry.

  15. 15 Morton said at 7:55 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Hey, look at what a competent defense can do to a scrub QB.

    John Skelton vs. 49ers? 6/19, 0 TDs, 3 INTs.

John Skelton vs the pathetic Eagles defense? 21/41, 3 TDs, 2 INTs.

  16. 16 Anonymous said at 8:12 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I see your boyfriend let you on the computer tonight.

  17. 17 Anonymous said at 8:02 PM on November 20th, 2011:

One guy that I will be paying attention to is Riley Cooper. As the second starter with Young at QB, Cooper doesn’t really have any excuse for not having a few catches and making a few plays, especially considering how the Giants will likely put most of their attention on DeSean.

  18. 18 Steve H said at 8:06 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I’m sensing a blowout, I think this is the week that we look like poo instead of losing a close one.

  19. 19 Anonymous said at 8:07 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    shoudn’t we have activated Hunt??

  20. 20 Anonymous said at 8:20 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Mike?

  21. 21 Anonymous said at 8:23 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Phillip hunt.. since Graham is inactive. Unless Hunt is injured too??

  22. 22 Anonymous said at 8:27 PM on November 20th, 2011:

The poster knows the player’s name. It was a fifth-grade joke.

I’m not gonna lie, I chuckled.

Top 5 pick, top 5 pick!!! Common Juan don’t let me down!!! Hopefully Spags is let go and Banner makes it happen. Get a DT, dump Asantr and some LBs and we may a team…maybe!!

  27. 27 Anonymous said at 8:30 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I think this is the last game where we’re obligated to root for wins. If we win this – we’re alive, and god knows we can come alive late in seasons. If we lose – well, this is the last must-win for us and it would be irresponsible to root for lower draft choices if we’re not making the playoffs.

  28. 28 Anonymous said at 8:31 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Yep, because the Giants lost last week after we did, it kept real slim hopes alive, which will end tonight with a loss.

  29. 29 Anonymous said at 8:36 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I will never root for the Eagles to lose.

  30. 30 Anonymous said at 8:37 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I’ve said this before, but to me, you always root for your team to win. You never want to see your team quit. The difference for me is that once they are out of it, I care much more on individual play than team play. In other words, I want to see the core players and young guys play well. If we end up loosing though, I don’t get upset and can comfort myself with the fact that we are getting a better draft choice. But still, I just can never understand rooting for your team to loose.

  31. 31 Anonymous said at 8:41 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Always want the boys to win.

  32. 32 Anonymous said at 8:47 PM on November 20th, 2011:

  33. 33 Daniel Suraci said at 8:39 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Just me or was that offensive pass interference call crap? Cooper was getting held the entire time and pushed into him.

  34. 34 Anonymous said at 8:41 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Terrible call. Riley was engaged with one DB. How can he be called for picking another one when he’s not free?

  35. 35 Anonymous said at 8:43 PM on November 20th, 2011:

That is what it looked like to me, and there is no doubt that we are both totally objective. 🙂

  36. 36 Anonymous said at 8:40 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Un. F***ing. Believable.

    1 rush. 5 passes.

I’ve figured it out. Andy isn’t calling the plays anymore – Shady’s mom has to be. No one else would try to keep him out of harms way to this extent. Jesus.

  37. 37 Anonymous said at 8:44 PM on November 20th, 2011:

  39. 39 Jon Blank said at 8:42 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I’m fine with the Giants forgetting how to catch tonight.

  40. 40 ToastJenkins said at 8:43 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    way to be smart DeSean…

  41. 41 Anonymous said at 8:44 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I know you have to accept a few of those because he is a special kind of player. That didn’t look very special.

  42. 42 Jon Blank said at 8:46 PM on November 20th, 2011:

At least he held onto the ball.

  43. 43 Anonymous said at 8:48 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I’m sick of him going backward. Making it tougher and tougher to like him.

  44. 44 Zachary said at 8:45 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Gotta love our chances tonight. No Mike Vick, No Jeremy Maclin, but we got the best head official ever – Mike Carey.

  45. 45 Zachary said at 8:46 PM on November 20th, 2011:

That was a great punt there by Vince Young.

  46. 46 Jon Blank said at 8:46 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Jackson was open.

  47. 47 Anonymous said at 8:46 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Had him beat and Young floated it.

  48. 48 Anonymous said at 8:46 PM on November 20th, 2011:

We had no gain on run on first down there, so Andy will wisely decide run is ineffective for entire game.

  49. 49 Anonymous said at 8:52 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Andy’s philosophy:
    -Pass to establish a lead
-Pass if you’re behind to gain the lead
-Pass if your QB is hot
-Pass to get your QB out of a slump
-Pass if your RB ain’t doin’ so well…duh
-Pass if your RB is hot – just to keep the defense honest

I am so sick of this guy.

  50. 50 Niklas Dyrby Johansen said at 8:46 PM on November 20th, 2011:

How many yards was that one underthrown? 10? 15? I sense a blowout as soon as the Giants start catching the football.

  51. 51 Zachary said at 8:48 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Just a good looking punt.

  52. 52 Anonymous said at 8:48 PM on November 20th, 2011:

that ball was tremendously underthrown….but DeSean once again does his qb no favors with a weak effort on the ball.

  53. 53 Anonymous said at 8:51 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Egh, as much as we want to rail on DeSean for some of his major flaws, blaming DeSean on that one is just not fair. He was 10 yards ahead of Amukamara and had to stop and come back to it. That was all on Young.

  54. 54 Anonymous said at 9:00 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Which is why I started by saying of by saying it was tremendously underthrown. I just get tired of him consistently making poor adjustments and poor efforts on balls that aren’t perfect. It hurts inside seeing all these other players make the effort while he doesn’t 😉

  55. 55 Anonymous said at 9:03 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I still think it is a stretch to put any blame on him there. He came back and tried to force the ball out of Amukamara’s hands while tackling him. I putting any blame on him for that one is simply due to him being on the screen, not because he made a mistake.

  56. 56 Anonymous said at 9:07 PM on November 20th, 2011:

We can agree to disagree. I do blame Young for the crappy pass. I’m just tired of seeing the lack of effort from DeSean on poorly thrown balls. It’s kind of like watching Asante play run defense.

  57. 57 Anonymous said at 10:32 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Absolutely. He did not compete for the ball at teh peak of his jump. But that’s not his strength.

  58. 58 DF said at 8:49 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Three plays for DeSean and two mistakes

  59. 59 DF said at 8:50 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Chaney!!!

  60. 60 Anonymous said at 8:50 PM on November 20th, 2011:

  67. 67 Anonymous said at 8:52 PM on November 20th, 2011:

  68. 68 Anonymous said at 8:53 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    What a waste.

  69. 69 Niklas Dyrby Johansen said at 8:54 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    WTF, Evan?

  70. 70 Anonymous said at 8:54 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Personally, I go for it on 4th there. Not a huge net gain and there was a significant chance he booted that into the endzone for even less of a gain.

  71. 71 Niklas Dyrby Johansen said at 8:57 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Really like the fire from the defense so far.

  72. 72 DF said at 8:58 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I like the fire out there tonight from the defense

  73. 73 Anonymous said at 8:58 PM on November 20th, 2011:

One thing I am a fan of is seeing this team come out angry and fighting. That is good to see. They need to keep it up though.

  74. 74 Jon Blank said at 9:01 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Giants look sloppy enough to give the Eagles a chance so far.

  75. 75 Anonymous said at 9:02 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I think the defense looks fiery tonight. Has anyone else noticed that?

  76. 76 Anonymous said at 9:03 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Fire seems to be the theme.

  77. 77 Anonymous said at 9:11 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Fellas are playing pissed off.

    Good.

  78. 78 Anonymous said at 9:03 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Rolle is my new favorite Eagle. That’s what you do to a QB after an int. Make him pay!!!

  79. 79 Zachary said at 9:03 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Not been a pretty start to the game, but hey we aren’t looking completely inept.

  80. 80 Zachary said at 9:05 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but VY hasn’t been impressive so far.

  81. 81 Anonymous said at 9:05 PM on November 20th, 2011:

It’s so obvious when the Eagles get no gain on a 1st down pass that they are going to run on 2nd down. I know it every time, so do you think the defense does?

How about a few series with a throw on 1st down.

  82. 82 Zachary said at 9:05 PM on November 20th, 2011:

His throws are just all over the place. Don’t think it’ll end up mattering, but maybe Kafka would be the better option.

  83. 83 Anonymous said at 9:10 PM on November 20th, 2011:

We’ll see. Vince got into a bit of rhythm on first drive. Hasn’t since then. Let’s see if that changes or he stays cold.

Reid will play QB who gives us best chance to win. Right now he thinks that is VY.

  84. 84 Anonymous said at 9:08 PM on November 20th, 2011:

A safety should win this game.

  85. 85 Jon Blank said at 9:09 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Pfft. You know we’re giving up 14 in the 4th.

  86. 86 Anonymous said at 9:09 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    I’m thinking FG.

  87. 87 DF said at 9:09 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I like defensive showings, but this is starting ugly.

  88. 88 DF said at 9:10 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Tommy,
How much more effective is this defense when they allow Nhamdi to man up?

  89. 89 Anonymous said at 9:11 PM on November 20th, 2011:

How bout a spead qb run

  90. 90 Corry Henry said at 9:12 PM on November 20th, 2011:

VY looks clumsy running the sprint draw….

  91. 91 Niklas Dyrby Johansen said at 9:13 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Great protection thus far.

  92. 92 Anonymous said at 9:13 PM on November 20th, 2011:

  96. 96 Niklas Dyrby Johansen said at 9:16 PM on November 20th, 2011:

The return of the dreaded WR combo of smith and Cooper..

  97. 97 Anonymous said at 9:17 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Riley Cooper and Young have been on completely different pages on almost every throw intended to him. That’s at least the 3rd throw where VY thought Cooper was going one place and Cooper went another.

  98. 98 Anonymous said at 9:18 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    So, that’s the ballgame, right?

  99. 99 Anonymous said at 9:19 PM on November 20th, 2011:

No, we will build at least a 10 point lead going into the 4th and then loose by 3. Come on, I know you have seen this rerun.

  100. 100 Anonymous said at 9:18 PM on November 20th, 2011:

How do we lose the 1st down after a penalty after the play is over? That is a dumb fucking rule.

  129. 129 Zachary said at 9:36 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Can anyone explain that to me? It was after the play?

  130. 130 Anonymous said at 9:35 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Absolutely ridiculous! Shouldn’t that penalty be after the play though?

  131. 131 Anonymous said at 9:38 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I thought the same. It occurred after the play was over so I don’t see how it negates it.

  132. 132 Anonymous said at 9:35 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Unreal

  133. 133 Anonymous said at 9:35 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Why wasn’t the taunting an “after the play” foul?

  134. 134 Anonymous said at 9:37 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I think the officials got that wrong honestly. That should be a first down and then 15 yard penalty from where Jackson went out of bounds.

  135. 135 Anonymous said at 9:37 PM on November 20th, 2011:

K we’re on the same page

  136. 136 Zachary said at 9:40 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I feel like we had that called like you stated earlier this year. I think Mike Carey just wants to fuck over the Eagles, per the usual.

  137. 137 Zachary said at 9:37 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I really need that explained to me too.

  138. 138 Mac said at 9:37 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Exactly

  139. 139 Thorin McGee said at 9:39 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I was wondering the same thing, I think the official blew that call, badly.

  140. 140 Anonymous said at 9:36 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Shouldn’t that call be enforced after the reception?

  141. 141 Jon Blank said at 9:37 PM on November 20th, 2011:

So the Giants get rewarded for taking a penalty. If there is no foul on the Giants, its after the play and 15 yards from the spot. No way that can be correct.

  142. 142 Anonymous said at 9:39 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Maybe the DeSean goof will work in our favor.

  143. 143 Zachary said at 9:41 PM on November 20th, 2011:

You can add Mike Carey to my listed of least favorite people on earth. This is terrible, his officiating crews always fuck us.

  144. 144 Mac said at 9:47 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Will Vince Young throw more interceptions this game than Vick has this season?

  146. 146 Anonymous said at 9:44 PM on November 20th, 2011:

    Fair question.

  150. 150 Jon Blank said at 9:44 PM on November 20th, 2011:

That call was ridiculous. It there is defensive pass interference on a TD catch and the receiver taunts or celebrates, they don’t take away the TD because of offsetting penalties.

  154. 154 Corry Henry said at 9:47 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I’m sorry, but regardless of whether or not the Refs fucked up the call, Jackson can NOT do something like that to allow the refs the CHANCE to fuck up that call. It was an idiotic thing to do at the end of a very good play. Just stupid.

  155. 155 Jon Blank said at 9:49 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Yes it was stupid, though crap like that happens all the time without a flag. Doesn’t excuse the absolutely horrid screw up of the call. officials cost the Eagles 40 yards even with the penalty by making up rules.

  156. 156 Anonymous said at 9:54 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Yep. No one is saying he didn’t deserve a penalty. Just the right enforcement.

  158. 158 Mac said at 9:49 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Plenty of time to get some more pass plays in this half….

  159. 159 Anonymous said at 9:49 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Further proof that Mike Pereira hates the eagles… He explains all questionable calls throughout the day but when there is one against the Eagles, he is silent.

Man, I hope they don’t give them some life by letting them score before the end of the half when they are getting the ball to open the second.

  169. 169 Anonymous said at 9:58 PM on November 20th, 2011:

I don’t want to take too much away from the defense, because overall, we have played well, but you can’t argue that we have benefited from a few drops.

  170. 170 Anonymous said at 9:58 PM on November 20th, 2011:

  171. 171 Anonymous said at 9:59 PM on November 20th, 2011:

On the DeSean taunting penalty, the right call apparently was made to re-play the down. I’ll explain separately at PFT later.

    From twitter

  175. 175 Anonymous said at 10:02 PM on November 20th, 2011:

If so, the rules committee needs to fix that.

  176. 176 Anonymous said at 10:10 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Absolutely. A penalty after the play should be assessed after the play, regardless of what happened during the play. It just seems like if the rule is in fact right, a delay of game penalty should also be assessed the same way the taunting penalty was assessed.

  177. 177 Anonymous said at 10:02 PM on November 20th, 2011:

Probably best we gave up the FG there. I was already starting to have shutout fantasies.

Instead of calling it the 4th qtr, can we tell the defense and Castillo that we’re redoing the 3rd qtr?
