I’m on NFL.com and it’s fine so far.

  3. 3 Arby1 said at 7:57 PM on August 30th, 2012:

For some reason when I click on the Eagles game link, I get the Falcons – Jags….

  4. 4 the guy said at 6:44 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Oh look, an underthrown deep ball by Nick Foles.

Now I *know* it’s an Eagles preseason game.

  5. 5 Kanin Faan said at 6:48 PM on August 30th, 2012:

poor gilyard. he had that corner beat and had to wait for the ball.

  6. 6 Corry Henry said at 7:06 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Yeah, he had a good two steps on him. Dunno what Baldy was watching on that play.

  7. 7 Kanin Faan said at 6:50 PM on August 30th, 2012:

my untrained eye says jarrett looks pretty good on this first drive. or the jets suck badly…

  8. 8 the guy said at 6:53 PM on August 30th, 2012:

A little from column A, a little from column B…

  9. 9 Scott Buchanan said at 6:54 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Rau is def a PS guy

  10. 10 TommyLawlor said at 6:54 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Ryan Rau is looking good. Jai-Jar has a pair of good, physical tackles. Excellent start for him.

  11. 11 Scott Buchanan said at 6:56 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Does Rau make it over Casey??

  12. 12 Arby1 said at 6:56 PM on August 30th, 2012:

And Gilyard had to slow down for that long pass but it hit him in the chest! Sheesh, gotta catch that.

  13. 13 Average__Joseph said at 7:08 PM on August 30th, 2012:

do you think Rau can make the squad?

  14. 14 Scott Buchanan said at 6:59 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Bell won’t make this team…no way

  15. 15 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:01 PM on August 30th, 2012:

demetress bell was a turnstile on that play. holy crap.
not sure who on the jets beat him.

he took a step to the outside (had another guy on O to the outside…) and got beat to the inside.

  16. 16 TommyLawlor said at 7:03 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Terrible so far.

  17. 17 Arby1 said at 7:01 PM on August 30th, 2012:

That was the funniest reverse call by an official I’ve ever seen!

  18. 18 TommyLawlor said at 7:02 PM on August 30th, 2012:

This could be an interesting year.

  19. 19 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:06 PM on August 30th, 2012:

the one from the giants-pats game was pretty good.
fifteen yard penalty…. rekick…. five yard penalty.

    lol wut

  20. 20 DamonL86 said at 7:01 PM on August 30th, 2012:

2 not so impressive punts from Henry already

  21. 21 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:05 PM on August 30th, 2012:

looked like rolle blew up a running play by hitting the FB behind the LOS.

  22. 22 TommyLawlor said at 7:06 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Yup. Ideal play by LB on Iso run. That’s the Little Ball of Hate that we know and love.

  23. 23 Kanin Faan said at 7:11 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    “Little Ball of Hate”

    brilliant!

  24. 24 ACViking said at 7:06 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    T-LAW:

Any thoughts on whether Chas Henry is in any jeopardy this evening?

  25. 25 ACViking said at 7:07 PM on August 30th, 2012:

D-Bell, sadly — as the “turnstile play” showed — looks so uncomfortable in this scheme.

  26. 26 TommyLawlor said at 7:08 PM on August 30th, 2012:

He’s talented. Just lost right now. So, so frustrating.

  27. 27 Corry Henry said at 7:09 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Ryan Rau really wants to be on this team.

  28. 28 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:10 PM on August 30th, 2012:

ouch. in the nickel d, offense runs the ball. lead blocker goes up the middle, RB gives a little cut to go the other way. rolle got lost in between somewhere.

  29. 29 ACViking said at 7:10 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Atogwe blown up by McKnight on the trap.

Rau? Nothing but making plays. (Has been blocked on straight-ahead runs, though)

  30. 30 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:11 PM on August 30th, 2012:

jarrett whiffed on a tackle there. *maybe* he shouldnt have made that one, but did he take rau out of the play on that one too?? lucky it was called back by penalty

  31. 31 Scott Buchanan said at 7:14 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Tommy
There is no way we go into the regular season with these safeties and Bell as the back up LT..tell me Im wrong

  32. 32 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:15 PM on August 30th, 2012:

i think they might keep bell just because he could grow into something good once he figures the system out. i also wouldnt be surprised if they cut him before the game ends.

  33. 33 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:14 PM on August 30th, 2012:

i kinda like how roseman gets in the box and speaks his mind about a lot of the internal stuff on the team. he seems to be pretty open.

  34. 34 TommyLawlor said at 7:17 PM on August 30th, 2012:

He’s good in there. Better than Baldy.

  35. 35 Corry Henry said at 7:17 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    That’s setting the bar low.

  36. 36 Corry Henry said at 7:18 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Atogwe has got to be in danger of being cut. Man can’t get on the field.

  37. 37 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:20 PM on August 30th, 2012:

for a guy that has a recent history of injuries, it can’t be good to get hurt in the PS, even if it is minor.

  38. 38 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:18 PM on August 30th, 2012:

dont know who was supposed to be covering the RB on that play, but it seemed like all 3 LBs were on the other side of the field. Rolle was the LB to that side of the field, his responsibility??

  39. 39 TommyLawlor said at 7:19 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I think that was Rolle getting burned. Not good. Jets first TD of the summer. Ugh.

  40. 40 ACViking said at 7:20 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Jets’ TD . . .

PThomas had the strong-side TE covered and was very quick to hit Gannaway.

Someone else blew that coverage. But Thomas was really quick on the diagnosis.

  41. 41 TommyLawlor said at 7:21 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I’m getting the odd feeling you might like P Thomas.

  42. 42 ACViking said at 7:23 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Ok . . . Busted.

But I don’t think I’m too far off base here with him.

Thought he was a great player in college who, like D-Johnson, made some dumb mistakes.

  43. 43 rosmith51 said at 7:21 PM on August 30th, 2012:

What a veteran move by Atogwe… playing like crap, so he pretends to be hurt.

  44. 44 TommyLawlor said at 7:21 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I don’t know about that. Might not make the team with an injury.

  45. 45 rosmith51 said at 8:33 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    INjury settlement vs straight waiver.

  46. 46 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:21 PM on August 30th, 2012:

UGH. boykin grabbing his knee and limping after that KOR. it was weird that he didnt even really look like he was running on that one.

  47. 47 Corry Henry said at 7:24 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Man I hope that isn’t serious.

  48. 48 rosmith51 said at 7:23 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Is it possible we just keep 3 safties (stick Thomas on the PS) and see hwta shakes loose in other teams waivers?

  49. 49 Arby1 said at 7:25 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Edwards going against the 2’s. Looking pretty good for now.

  50. 50 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:26 PM on August 30th, 2012:

holy crap. edwards got crushed, but hung in there and delivered a really nice pass to chad hall down field.

  51. 51 TommyLawlor said at 7:34 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Very good to see.

  52. 52 Corry Henry said at 7:28 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Bryce Brown had a decent cut block on that run by Edwards. (before Edwards ran that is)

  53. 53 Arby1 said at 7:29 PM on August 30th, 2012:

If we keep 6 receivers, Chad Hall seems to have beat out Mardy Gilyard, imho.

  54. 54 TommyLawlor said at 7:34 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Chad Hall is the ultimate summer guy. Plays hard. Smart. Gets the job done. Just lacks the speed needed for RS games vs top competition. I hope we keep him on the P-Squad, not the roster.

  55. 55 Arby1 said at 7:37 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I think he will get signed by another team if we cut him.

  56. 56 Anders said at 7:49 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Rams, they got Amendola as there leading receiver

  57. 57 Corry Henry said at 7:31 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Oh good, Boykin just has a knee contusion. Coming back into the game.

  58. 58 DamonL86 said at 7:35 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Bell looks lost

  59. 59 TommyLawlor said at 7:40 PM on August 30th, 2012:

They must sit him in the 2nd half. Hurts the offense.

  60. 60 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:38 PM on August 30th, 2012:

i can’t figure out rolle. he absolutely blew up that running play. that was impressive. but then he just gets out of position on other plays. i’m thinking that his strength is running downhill and anything outside of that he is a liability.

  61. 61 TommyLawlor said at 7:40 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Accurate.

  62. 62 Aaron said at 7:40 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I am not watching the game live. Have they updated Boykin’s status?

  63. 63 TommyLawlor said at 7:40 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Knee contusion. Will return to the game.

  64. 64 TommyLawlor said at 7:42 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Just made tackle on run play.

  65. 65 Arby1 said at 7:40 PM on August 30th, 2012:

He just made a tackle – he’s fine.

  66. 66 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:43 PM on August 30th, 2012:

did i just hear “good coverage by jaiquan jarrett”??? !!!

  67. 67 Arby1 said at 7:44 PM on August 30th, 2012:

And combined with Atogewe’s injury, seems like he’s made the team.

  68. 68 TommyLawlor said at 7:45 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Yep. And it was. That’s the crazy part. Good game so far.

  69. 69 ACViking said at 7:48 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    T-Law:

Who’s the Eagles No. 2 KRer?

  70. 70 Arby1 said at 7:49 PM on August 30th, 2012:

They had Bryce Brown try one last week. I think Damaris would be #2.

  71. 71 TommyLawlor said at 7:51 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Damaris Johnson. Bryce Brown could be 3. Dion Lewis is emergency option.

  72. 72 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:51 PM on August 30th, 2012:

chad hall fumble – the refs blew the whistle before the jets recovered the ball. that shouldnt be a turnover, correct? i’m not sure the refs will notice.

  73. 73 TheRogerPodacter said at 7:53 PM on August 30th, 2012:

then they say the play stands? i’m kinda shocked to be honest.

  74. 74 ACViking said at 7:52 PM on August 30th, 2012:

12 months . . . and in PS Game 4 has Phillip Hunt wearing a white hat.

    Great story.

  75. 75 DamonL86 said at 7:56 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Bell run over on the TD pass

  76. 76 TommyLawlor said at 7:58 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Terrible.

  77. 77 Crus57 said at 7:57 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Bell looks like Dunlap.. when Dunlap was a rookie.

  78. 78 TommyLawlor said at 7:58 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Dunlap was better.

  79. 79 Corry Henry said at 8:04 PM on August 30th, 2012:

McElroy is going to need some time in the cold tub after this game.

  80. 80 TommyLawlor said at 8:12 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Yeah, that was a big shot from Rolle and then Graham slammed him to the ground.

  81. 81 ACViking said at 8:18 PM on August 30th, 2012:

In past years, the Eagles 3rd and 4th stringers used to look so incredibly bad.

I remember the game when Steelers’ Willie Parker was a FA rookie from UNC and ran all over the Birds.

This year, jeez, the team looks deep. Great to see.

  82. 82 Arby1 said at 8:19 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    3 cheers for Howie Roseman!

  83. 83 ACViking said at 8:21 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    (Just havin’ some fun)

  84. 84 TommyLawlor said at 8:35 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Dude shows up on a regular basis.

  85. 85 phillychuck said at 8:25 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I love Phillip Thomas. If the last throw had been on target it would have been a pick-6.

  86. 86 Arby1 said at 8:27 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Roob making the case for Trent Edwards on Twitter: “Reuben Frank ‏@RoobCSN
Trent Edwards has played 12 drives in the preseason. No 3-and-outs. Has put up points on seven of them [4 TDs, 3 FGs].”

  87. 87 ACViking said at 8:32 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Re: Igwenagu

Stick him on the P.S., make him a better blocker, and I think he displaces Havili next year at FB.

He’s got Tom Rathman — short, stout, good hands — written on all over him.

Is your boy, Dennis Kelly, in at OLT in the 2nd half? Looks like it.

  88. 88 TommyLawlor said at 8:35 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Kelly at LT. DJ Jones at RT. Important to see if they can play these spots.

  89. 89 Average__Joseph said at 8:37 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Tommy,
Will Bell be cut? His cap figure is only $1.15 mil but he is due a $2.1 mil roster bonus?

  90. 90 ACViking said at 8:38 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    T-Law:

You may disagree. But Brian Rolle is playing like a guy who not only is upset for losing his starting position . . . but a guy whose roster spot is on the line.

He’s head and shoulders the best player on either team on the field right now in the 2nd half.

  91. 91 TommyLawlor said at 8:44 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Rolle is playing angry. That’s when he’s at his best.

  92. 92 laeagle said at 10:25 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Like a little mini-Hulk!

  93. 93 phillychuck said at 8:38 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Rolle making a lot of plays. I think he makes more big plays than he does mistakes, but Jordan does play more consistently. Good to have guys pushing for a job. Rao is better than Matthews versus the run, anyway.

  94. 94 Corry Henry said at 8:51 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I love the way Polk finishes runs

  95. 95 Arby1 said at 9:03 PM on August 30th, 2012:

C’mon, how can you cut Edwards?!

  96. 96 ACViking said at 9:08 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Re: Polk’s horse-collar play

Polk landed square on his left, damaged shoulder . . . and immediately came out.

Seems like a real IR candidate. He’s always moving the pile forward.
    _____________________

    T-LAW:

Why wouldn’t the Eagles IR Polk? I believe his salary counts against the cap, but he’s a rookie FA playing for the minimum.

  97. 97 TommyLawlor said at 9:17 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I think he was just winded on that play. Will check when I re-watch. Had just completed 2 long runs.

  98. 98 phillychuck said at 9:14 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Based on today, I’d keep Polk, Brown, Rao, Thomas. Don’t know about the CB battle–they’ve all been solid.

  99. 99 Arby1 said at 9:16 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Rau over Matthews? Thomas over JJ or OA? Polk instead of Havili?

  100. 100 Arby1 said at 9:25 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Brown has the team made. Polk could make it if we keep 5 WR’s. I think JJ’s made it. Maybe Thomas makes it if Atogwe gets cut. Rau could be too late with his late surge – hope he makes it to PS.

  101. 101 TommyLawlor said at 9:16 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Polk may have just earned a spot.

  102. 102 TommyLawlor said at 9:18 PM on August 30th, 2012:

  103. 103 Jeppe van Ee said at 9:18 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I’d keep P. Thomas over Atogwe. Atogwe is old and injured, Thomas is young and has good potential.

  104. 104 Arby1 said at 9:30 PM on August 30th, 2012:

    Two questions.

    1. You’re AR and HR . . . Who’s the toughest decision to keep or cut?

    2. Did DJ Jones’s performance guarantee that Bell’s on the roster?

  110. 110 TommyLawlor said at 9:46 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Jones played well at LT. Struggled at RT. Bell struggled all summer. I don’t know what to make of that.

Toughest cut…can’t decide yet. I’ve already changed my roster 37 times just tonight.

Tommy — thanks for elevating the Eagles fan experience.

  113. 113 phillychuck said at 9:50 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I think I’d try to create another slot by IR-ing Polk and have him get his shoulder repaired. I think we’ll pick up at least one more o-lineman from another team’s cuts. I’d certainly cut Bell–can’t wait for a veteran to figure it out….

I’d keep Clayton or Lindley with the other slot.

Of course, if you can get something in trade for a RB, a CB, a QB, or whomever I guess you do it.

  114. 114 ACViking said at 9:51 PM on August 30th, 2012:

Gilyard makes that catch on Foles (slightly underthrown) long pass on the first series, he really helps himself.

But dancing in the EZ in preseason . . . c’mon.
    ____________

From 1999 – 2003, Gilyard would have been at worst the Eagles 4th receiver.

Now, he’s exactly what you want to see . . . a nice player who could make a contribution to the Jaguars.

  115. 115 Arby1 said at 10:04 PM on August 30th, 2012:

I think, contrary to what I said earlier, Gilyard did beat out Hall slightly. Gilyard gives you a back-up long ball threat and PR, Chad gives consistency on the short stuff but can’t separate on the long ball. Slight nod to MG if you’re keeping 6.

  116. 116 ian_no_2 said at 10:09 PM on August 30th, 2012:

There’s a new rule that one pre-designated player can be put on IR and then put back on the roster later. That’s for guys who were hurt after camp started and can’t be PUPed. The Eagles don’t have a clear cut pick for that, but Cooper and Matthews would seem to be the leading candidates.

  117. 117 ian_no_2 said at 10:38 PM on August 30th, 2012:

OT: An experienced lawyer (or politician) is taught never to answer a hypothetical question. All Lurie has to say is “we’re not going 8-8.” Maybe that was payback for the sorry spectacle of Reid’s agent right after the funeral. But if Lurie wants to send a message to Andy about winning now, the best way to do it is behind closed doors rather than de-legitimize the coach publicly. It makes the Eagles a weaker team. Lurie shouldn’t have these press conferences.

20 sacks in the preseason….yeah we know what our strength will be in 2012. I just pray that we limit the dumb penalties, hope for a rebound year from Vick and a major jump by Castillo.
