    DL looks goood.

    Steelers are game planning the Eagles. This is how teams are going to attack them, with screens against the rush and coverage. The good news is they don’t want to go vertical against the CBs. Teams are going to look at that blown coverage where Jarrett missed that tackle.. more safety problems.

    Philip Hunt is the best backup DE on the Eagles — in Washburn’s system

    Early observations
    Boykin is a playmaker
    Hunt makes the team and gets plenty of pt
    Graham gets around the qb but can’t seem to close the deal
    DRC will have a big year
    LBs seem ok no one standing out early

    Broken record here, how long has DRC been playing organized football? Learn to tackle. First he hugs the guy high before the reinforcements who know where the weight room is come. Then he jumps up and hits the QB near the helmet. Went from a punt to the ball on the Eagles 3 now. Learn how to tackle and earn your pay. When’s Boykin going to be ready?

    i’m worried that i’m seeing a lot of the same things as last year…
    play great for a few plays in a row…..then play awful for a few plays in a row…
    i would be fuming if this were a regular season game… are we TRYING to give them a first down on every third and long??

    I know…What was that? Doesn’t make any sense at all. Run-D doesn’t seem like it’s much improved from last year; let’s hope this is an eye-opener and it’s sorted by the time the season starts.

    I tend to think a lot of that happens in the preseason.

    Also the Eagles had an abnormal week. Might not be totally focused on football, but there’s plenty of time to correct it.

    Not the real starting lineup, Steelers are good … plenty of reasons not to freak out. We’d like to see better but I wouldn’t read too far into this one.

    He seems to be JUMPING, not sliding, around the pocket.

    Kafka threw the pick there but he was doing some good things before that. I think he just needs experience he looks pretty otherwise.

    regarding Vicks hand: It’s hard to see on TV but thumbfractures usually swell up like crazy so if the minimal swelling that I see = reality –> vicks going to be fine.

    I thought I posted that earlier … but I think IgglesBlitz is the only website where I can hope to read something beside a gross overreaction to a few preseason series. It’s nice to see good things, but these are practice games … I wouldn’t freak about the mess ups.

    I just read a bit of the 1st half thread at BGN, it’s hilarious how much some are overreacting. There’s been a lot of bad and some good, but relax it’s just the pre-season, the first game at that. Further more, and injuries are not an excuse, but half the starting line-up is out.

    With that said, I think I kinda missed all the freaked out eagles fans, it’s just not eagles football without a bit of fan rage

    Re-watching Vicks first sack I don’t think you can pin Watkins on it, he has his guy blocked but Vick runs to the side that makes it easy for the defender to peel off and go get him, poor pocket presence more than anything.

    Hamler’s an interesting guy. He is 6’1″, and his strong point is getting deep jump balls and running with the ball with a lot of feet shuffling. He wasn’t drafted because of his 40 time, and not being two inches taller. But he can play and he’s also good for the quick first down on the two minute drill.

    Total disaster today for Kafka’s chances.. with the other two guys playing great..
