The Seahawks are playing games with my heart. Apart from releasing Antoine Winfield and making room for their young and promising corner backs, their current roster still stands at 73. Will they make the next and final 20 cuts 1 minute before the deadline?!!!

  2. 2 GEagle said at 2:48 PM on August 31st, 2013:

Someone should kidnap Gus Bradley and tie him up til Monday

  3. 3 ICDogg said at 2:43 PM on August 31st, 2013:

Eagles will announce cuts at 4 PM, Roseman will be answering questions from the press at 4:30

  4. 4 Tumtum said at 2:44 PM on August 31st, 2013:

I don’t know if I should be surprised or not by the Harbor release. If we really plan on using Celek Casey and Ertz heavily… what is left? I figured if Carrier got released we were keeping Harbor.

    Re: Danny Watkins

    T-Law:

My heart goes out to the kid. He didn’t ask the Eagles to draft him No. 1.

It was the job of someone — Reid?, Mudd?, Roseman? — to figure out if his heart was as big as his potential.

    Someone dropped the ball.

  6. 6 Ben Hert said at 2:48 PM on August 31st, 2013:

ON the flip side, I don’t think you can really say his heart was in it. Don’t enter the NFL draft if you don’t want to give your everything to football for the next 10…well, 5 in Danny’s case…of your life.

  7. 7 ACViking said at 3:08 PM on August 31st, 2013:

    Not fair.

He may have thought his heart was in it . . . but then a few weeks of Howard Mudd told him, “ugh, this sucks.”

I’m still putting the blame on the personnel dept.

Someone needed to scream at Reid that Watkins was a heartless 26 year-old.

  8. 8 Media Mike said at 3:50 PM on August 31st, 2013:

Nope. This is ALL on Watkins. He was universally hailed as a great football player. Look at the post Sheil has up on the subject. There wasn’t word one from anybody anywhere about Watkins lacking heart and desire. He tore up the senior bowl that year as well. What a fraud of a human being.

  9. 9 phillychuck said at 3:56 PM on August 31st, 2013:

Doesn’t make the human being a fraud if the scouts mis-diagnose his talent. This is on Reid and whoever scouted Watkins, not on Watkins.

  10. 10 Media Mike said at 3:59 PM on August 31st, 2013:

It wasn’t a talent issue if you’re reading all of the stuff today on Twitter by Jimmy Bama and Rube and Adam Caplan. They’re 100% calling it a heart / football interest issue. That means Watkins lied his way through countless interviews. He dominated the senior bowl. Total fraud.

  11. 11 Maggie said at 6:15 PM on August 31st, 2013:

Why so bitter? It has nothing to do with you.

  12. 12 Media Mike said at 6:35 PM on August 31st, 2013:

Why bitter? Because we weren’t given any info about Watkins being a bum while he was acting like a bum.

  13. 13 GEagle said at 2:49 PM on August 31st, 2013:

My heart doesn’t go out to anyone who pocketed 1st round millions and provided nothing

  14. 14 ACViking said at 2:59 PM on August 31st, 2013:

    NOT HIS FAULT . . .

Watkins didn’t make the pick. What’s he supposed to do? Give the money back?

Sorry, I don’t see NFL teams giving money to rookie free agents who turn out to be great players . . . until after that 1st contract is exhausted.

Maybe it’s the fact I’m older with two kids (one in college, one in HS).

Sure, I’d love to see them get picked No. 1 in some pro league. And make millions.

    That’s not their choice — that’s someone else’s.

Anyway, as a parent, my heart is open to the kid. That’s all.

  15. 15 P_P_K said at 2:54 PM on August 31st, 2013:

Nothing personal against the kid, um, the late 20s man, but I always hated that pick. What a waste of a #1. After that pick, I never again said I was opposed to Andy leaving.

  16. 16 ACViking said at 2:55 PM on August 31st, 2013:

    P_P_K:

I’m with you. Hated the pick for three reasons.

One, the kid was 26 already — turning 27 in-season.

Two, only 4 years of football.

    Three, from Canada.

The whole draft sucked. Reminds me of my youth — when the Eagles routinely screwed up the old 17-round drafts in the 60s.

  17. 17 Maggie said at 6:25 PM on August 31st, 2013:

What’s the deal about being from Canada? You Americans don’t mind taking our oil, or Walmart sucking billions out of our economy every year, or both General Motors and Ford building cars here since the 1920’s. Banting and Best, the creators of the first artificial insulin gave the first usable doses to an American girl from upstate New York AND SAVED HER LIFE. If it wasn’t for fhe power grid built between BOTH or our countries, you people in the Northeast would still be burning lamp oil for light. It was a Canadian engineer, working at Bell, who designed the first LEM for the Apollo moon missions. It was another Canadian engineer, who called some colleagues in Toronto, who came up with the plan to save the astronauts lives on Apollo13. Your spies have been running around the world for years with forged Canadian identities and passports. After Katrina, the first help of any kind that showed up in District 9 was an urban search and rescue team from Vancouver. etc. etc. So knock it off. By the way, the first “feet” to touch the moon in 1969 were the feet of the LEM. Those “feet” were built in Canada.

    EXCELLENT!!!

Reminds of the days of Ray Rismiller. Adrian Young. And “We” Will Wynn.

  21. 21 ICDogg said at 3:18 PM on August 31st, 2013:

This is how they used to draft:

They selected him in the seventh round, the 159th player chosen overall. General manager Jim Murray did not study any film on Wynn. He just saw his name on their draft board and knew he liked it.

“With the record we’ve had,” Murray said, “how could we not draft a guy named Will Wynn? I feel better just saying it – Will Wynn.”

  22. 22 ACViking said at 3:40 PM on August 31st, 2013:

I won’t even ask if it’s true. It has Eagles all over it!!!

  33. 33 P_P_K said at 3:37 PM on August 31st, 2013:

  35. 35 Weapon Y said at 3:39 PM on August 31st, 2013:

I’m shocked that Harbor got cut. I figured Chip planned on using a double stack 4 tight end set. He’s the fourth best tight end. Maybe he’s going to sign someone from another roster.

  36. 36 OregonDucker said at 3:42 PM on August 31st, 2013:

Maybe making room for Maehl? Although a WR, still would work in a double stack. Like Avant, Jeff catches everything – I bet he stays.

  43. 43 Media Mike said at 3:52 PM on August 31st, 2013:

Can anybody point out to me any links to stories by the media about how Watkins lacked the heart and interest to play NFL football? I see it all over Twitter and web pages now, but I consider it a major failing of either my of my reading of Eagles news or reporters reporting honestly that I didn’t see word one on Watkins’ “stones” until today.
All I ever saw on the guy was that he was “having a hard time picking things up.”
    My error or the reporters?

  44. 44 ICDogg said at 3:59 PM on August 31st, 2013:

not your error. Reporters are coming out of the woodwork now about it

  60. 60 Media Mike said at 4:05 PM on August 31st, 2013:

    Tommy:
If you’re able to answer this question, I’d really appreciate it.
Why was there no reporting about the “heart” and “football interest lacking” elements of Watkins (to my remembrance) prior to today?
I had only read reports of Watkins not being able to improve his play enough to be on the field consistently, but nothing of the stuff Jimmy Bama, Roob, and Caplan were putting up on Twitter.
Did I miss reports over two years, or was this story not reported? If not reported, why?

  61. 61 ICDogg said at 4:05 PM on August 31st, 2013:
