Pam Oliver fumbling her words….. Really trying to show effects of that concussion. She wants to get paid…..

  2. 2 Stephen Stempo said at 6:14 PM on September 29th, 2013:

as far as I can tell sideline reporters add pretty much nothing to an NFL broadcast.

“coach coach. how do you think the first half went?” “Well We left some plays out there and we need to execute better.” “Thanks coach, back to you troy.”

    Crack reporting there.

  3. 3 Crus57 said at 6:15 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Useful for injury updates though

  4. 4 Andy124 said at 6:16 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Back when Rachel Nichols was on the sideline, they were the the only one that mattered.

  5. 5 Corry said at 6:10 PM on September 29th, 2013:

How do you leave Demariyus Thomas wide open???

  6. 6 Insomniac said at 6:11 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Confuse him with Julis Thomas duh they’re like almost the same size.

  7. 7 DamonL86 said at 6:11 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Not a good start

  8. 8 scratcherk said at 6:12 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Where was the left end on that run

  9. 9 Crus57 said at 6:12 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Cox was 5yds into our backfield and sinking.

  10. 10 GermanEagle said at 6:13 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Lol.

U really think that stays a one possession game only any longer. The playcalling in the first half was too conservative and now Chippah has to play catch up.

  11. 11 Stephen Stempo said at 6:15 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Well having a QB who could run the read option would be a nice start.

I cannot believe we’re losing to the best team in the league with an ALL time first ballot hall of fame QB. Absurd.

  12. 12 GermanEagle said at 6:18 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Your Vick hatred is getting boring my friend…

  13. 13 Stephen Stempo said at 6:20 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I don’t hate vick, actually like him quite a bit as a person. He’s just slow witted out there. You can see it every play. He makes reactionary throws. Vick isn’t even playing close to the same position as Manning. It’s different galaxies of talent.

Your confirmation bias is amusing though.

  14. 14 Andy124 said at 6:15 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Regardless of what happens the rest of this game, you gotta think the Iggs will be pretty heavily favored next week.

  15. 15 GermanEagle said at 6:17 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I am sure the Eagles will find a way to lose to a rookie QB and a 63 yard FG.

  16. 16 Andy124 said at 6:18 PM on September 29th, 2013:

They get the Giants next. Rookie QB is the week after.

  17. 17 GermanEagle said at 6:21 PM on September 29th, 2013:

The kicker will still be the same…

  18. 18 brza said at 6:16 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Did Manning have someone hypnotize the Eagles defense to jump offsides everytime he says “Omaha”?

  19. 19 scratcherk said at 6:16 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    ARE U KIDDING ME!!!

  20. 20 Corry said at 6:16 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    That’s a horrible call.

  21. 21 brza said at 6:17 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Awful awful call.

  22. 22 GermanEagle said at 6:16 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Where is this guy who said that both the cowboys and redskins are losing?!

  23. 23 scratcherk said at 6:16 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    WTF WAS THE PI??!?!??!

  24. 24 scratcherk said at 6:16 PM on September 29th, 2013:

F these refs, they dont need to help the broncos.

  25. 25 Stephen Stempo said at 6:17 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Am I the only one who things our D is plying better than I thought they would? I mean I thought Peyton would have crushed the over by himself in the first half.

We know out D is terrible, pointing it out every other minute doesn’t change the fact that it is still terrible.

  26. 26 GermanEagle said at 6:19 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Yes. You are the only one. Now get back to sleep and keep hating on Vick. P

  27. 27 Stephen Stempo said at 6:22 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I don’t really hate on vick i root for him. He’s just overwhelmed. It’s not his fault he’s just is what he is. Sometimes electric sometimes confused. It’s easy to see.

  28. 28 GermanEagle said at 6:26 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    U mean he’s overwhelmed by Celek’s drops?! I would be too…

  29. 29 xeynon said at 6:37 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Acknowledging that the guy is a mediocre quarterback is not hatred. Watch him play a game, then watch Manning, Brees, or Rodgers. He’s not close.

We’re unlikely to win the Super Bowl without at least a top 10 quarterback and Vick isn’t close to that status.

  30. 30 Andy124 said at 6:19 PM on September 29th, 2013:

No. I said just before the last thread died that 14 offensive points allowed in the first half to this team is nothing to cry about.

  31. 31 shah8 said at 6:17 PM on September 29th, 2013:

We are far too talentless on defense. Go for it on all makeable fourth downs. Period.

  32. 32 brza said at 6:18 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Curry Snap Count: ZERO

  33. 33 scratcherk said at 6:19 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    I hate football.

  34. 34 brza said at 6:41 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Not that it would matter, but Curry Count still at ZERO.

  35. 35 brza said at 6:43 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Check that, CURRY is in the building! And Manning was so intimidated he called a Timeout on Curry’s second snap!

    Curry Count: ONE

  36. 36 brza said at 6:45 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Hahaha, Eagles use Manning’s timeout to take Curry out of the game. Playing right into Peyton’s hands…

  37. 37 brza said at 7:09 PM on September 29th, 2013:

The backup QB is in so now its finally Curry time! 3 consecutive plays for Curry. Hurry on third down.
    Curry Count: FOUR!!

  38. 38 brza said at 7:28 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Curry snap count off the charts in garbage time. Up to 13!!! He’ll probably need a few weeks to recover from the extensive playing time. Don’t expect to see him again soon.

  39. 39 SteveH said at 6:19 PM on September 29th, 2013:

That was solid coverage by fletcher, there’s just not much more you can do on that one.

  40. 40 RichF said at 6:19 PM on September 29th, 2013:

nope. It was well played coverage

  41. 41 DamonL86 said at 6:23 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Have to catch that

  42. 42 Andy124 said at 6:23 PM on September 29th, 2013:

“He’s a perfect running back for Chip Kelly” Who isn’t he a perfect running back for?

  43. 43 Dragon_Eagle said at 6:24 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    AR

  44. 44 shah8 said at 6:24 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    And that was demoralizing.

  45. 45 Frencheaglesfan said at 6:25 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I understand that a lot of you are emotionals but the things that disappoint me the most is your reactions. We are probably playing the best team in football. We are a totally new organisation, what do you expect. It ´s hard to support the eagles when I see that the fan community is like that.

  46. 46 Crus57 said at 6:26 PM on September 29th, 2013:

It’ll calm down as the season goes on, we’re still at the stage where people’s dreams are being crushed.

Also I bet you if any other team’s fans were saying bad things about the Eagles we’d all be supporting each other against them.

  47. 47 SteveH said at 6:26 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Yeah honestly this isn’t a bad showing against a good team so far.

  48. 48 Stephen Stempo said at 6:27 PM on September 29th, 2013:

some people here don’t particularly understand football and take wins and losses fairly personally. They also seem to think that when you change coaches you win right away. Really though you’re only talking about GermanEagle who seems to pollute these thread with eagels fan stereotypes.

  49. 49 GermanEagle said at 6:30 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Lol. You’re the first one calling me out on here. Let me ask you: how long have you been following the Eagles?

  50. 50 RichF said at 6:28 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Did you mean to post on a different site – I feel like most of the community on this site is pretty realistic about this team right now. Yeah, a lot of us get into it during a game, because if not – why watch, but I don’t think you’ll find anyone here (getting taken seriously) who thinks this should be a playoff team.

  51. 51 scratcherk said at 6:30 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Considering the NFC East, this very well could be a playoff team. This game has nothing to do with that.

  52. 52 RichF said at 6:31 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Yeah, I should’ve italicized “should” be a playoff team – the fact that our division blows shouldn’t cloud people’s understanding that this is the first year of a new program.

  53. 53 Dragon_Eagle said at 6:26 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  55. 55 Andy124 said at 6:28 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  57. 57 ceteris_paribus1776 said at 6:29 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    A mere hiccup in Denver’s way…

  58. 58 shah8 said at 6:31 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Take a look at that defense. Do you think for one second it’s not defense all the way down in the draft next year?

  59. 59 Crus57 said at 6:31 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    a hint of OL too

  60. 60 Stephen Stempo said at 6:33 PM on September 29th, 2013:

We need the 2003 draft where we got lito, sheldon, and michael lewis first 3 picks. Guys who can contribute right away in the secondary… A free agent or two wouldn’t hurt either.

  61. 61 xeynon said at 6:39 PM on September 29th, 2013:

They need a quarterback, an additional receiver, and perhaps more depth on the OL as well.

  62. 62 Stephen Stempo said at 6:31 PM on September 29th, 2013:

dammit! I bet chip is really regretting not going for 2 now.

  63. 63 scratcherk said at 6:32 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I want zero punts for the rest of the game. Go big or go home.

  64. 64 GermanEagle said at 6:33 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Not if Stephen Stempo is our coach…

  65. 65 Corry said at 6:32 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I don’t understand why the outside linebacker is lined up out on the slot receiver. I’d understand if they hit the receiver prior to releasing him on his route, but all they rush from waaaaaaaaaaay outside.

  66. 66 Andy124 said at 6:32 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    disguise?

  67. 67 jshort said at 6:32 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Hate to say it , Manning is something to watch

  68. 68 SteveH said at 6:33 PM on September 29th, 2013:

He’s a machine. No shame in losing this game.

  69. 69 TommyLawlor said at 6:33 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Yep. Hate him, but sure can appreciate his greatness.

  70. 70 Stephen Stempo said at 6:34 PM on September 29th, 2013:

He’s the sistine chapel of QB’s.

  71. 71 Crus57 said at 6:32 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Impressive of Nate Allen to overrun a guy running in a straight line.

  72. 72 xeynon said at 6:34 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I’m downgrading my prediction for this season from 7-9 to 6-10. This is a bad team – so-so offense, so-so special teams, atrocious defense. Getting guys like Earl Wolff PT to see if they can be part of the long-term future should be the main goal.

  73. 73 Liza Clare said at 6:35 PM on September 29th, 2013:

but what about Kelly’s unstoppable offense . . . with Vick at quarterback . . . Foles could be doing this

  74. 74 xeynon said at 6:41 PM on September 29th, 2013:

It’s pretty clearly stoppable. And particularly with Vick at QB, it’s not built to come from behind.

  75. 75 Andy124 said at 6:34 PM on September 29th, 2013:

So, Manning had 2 incompletions in his first 5 passes. Since then, he has as many touchdown passes as incompletions.

  76. 76 SteveH said at 6:34 PM on September 29th, 2013:

He’s basically in line for his averages on the season.

  77. 77 GermanEagle said at 6:34 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Go Chargers.

  78. 78 scratcherk said at 6:35 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I’d rather have Chip Kelly flame out in fantastic fashion in the NFL playing his style of football than have him become a mediocre conservative NFL coach.

  79. 79 Crus57 said at 6:36 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Maybe he’s saving the fantastic stuff for division or at least conference games?

  80. 80 Dragon_Eagle said at 6:37 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Playoffs

  81. 81 Allen3000 said at 6:36 PM on September 29th, 2013:

The effort by our defense and special teams is embarrassing. I get that they lack talent, but there’s no excuse for not shedding blocks and wrapping up. It’s like they’re playing as if they long ago conceded defeat. Still giving easy 10 yard cushions for flat/crossing/underneath routes as if they’re petrified of getting burnt deep.

  82. 82 Andy124 said at 6:37 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I hate all sack celebration dances. Just sayin.

  83. 83 scratcherk said at 6:37 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I suppose we could punt there.

  84. 84 DamonL86 said at 6:38 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Lane got smoked

  85. 85 Insomniac said at 6:38 PM on September 29th, 2013:

The best thing that can come out of this game is no injuries. We know what we are already.

  86. 86 jshort said at 6:38 PM on September 29th, 2013:

johnson didn’t help on that one

  87. 87 Corry said at 6:39 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    This is tough to watch.

  88. 88 Stephen Stempo said at 6:39 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Is it just me or is Vick not holding onto the ball long enough?

  89. 89 GermanEagle said at 6:40 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Is it just me or is nobody getting open?! Dude you really need to watch the coaches film tomorrow…

  90. 90 Andy124 said at 6:40 PM on September 29th, 2013:

You don’t have to agree with it, but it was still funny.

  91. 91 GermanEagle said at 6:44 PM on September 29th, 2013:

The not so funny part is that he didn’t mean it to be funny.

  92. 92 Stephen Stempo said at 6:51 PM on September 29th, 2013:

no it was sarasm. He’ll lead the league in holding the ball again. I mean I was fine with the decision to go with Vick but it’s also fine to point out his flaws. Drops have hurt him today no doubt but he seems to be incapable of sensing any pressure whatsoever and looks to me like he’s panicking EVERY play. Maybe it’s the Denver D, but he ain’t sharp sorry.

  93. 93 Stephen Stempo said at 6:43 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    ok.

  94. 94 xeynon said at 6:49 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Part of the problem is that Vick is not good at throwing to guys who aren’t wide open. The elite quarterbacks can do that pretty consistently so they put up yards and points even when the defense is doing its job. Kelly needs a QB like that to win at this level.

  95. 95 SteveH said at 6:39 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Nice punt and coverage. That’s something.

  96. 96 DamonL86 said at 6:39 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Is it possible for us not to leave someone wide open on every play

  97. 97 Stephen Stempo said at 6:40 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    no.

  98. 98 jshort said at 6:42 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  101. 101 Christopher Miller said at 6:40 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Living in Denver, this is going to be a looong week…not that I expected otherwise, but dang.

  102. 102 Dragon_Eagle said at 6:41 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Curry sighting

  103. 103 Christopher Miller said at 6:41 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Camera on the sidelines? I missed it…

  104. 104 Dragon_Eagle said at 6:42 PM on September 29th, 2013:

He’s on the field at least the last couple of snaps.

  105. 105 GermanEagle said at 6:43 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I consider myself a die hard Eagles fan for almost 20 years now and I am aware that we’re probably playing against the god of all QBs today, but today’s performance has really got me humbled and disappointed. On any given Sunday they say?! Well, this is just a crushing loss and I wouldn’t bet a penny on Chip Kelly to beat the Giants next week.

  106. 106 TommyLawlor said at 6:44 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I’m frustrated, but nothing to that level.

  107. 107 GermanEagle said at 6:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

To what level Tommy? I am not giving up on this team (I never will) but this second half must be the worst in the last 10 years. Sorry….

  108. 108 tj said at 7:38 PM on September 29th, 2013:

It’s everybody else’s fault but Chip Kellys. He’s only the head coach responsible for the entire teams performance.

  109. 109 SteveH said at 6:45 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I’m not surprised this is happening. Manning is playing out of his mind this year. We should just be happy he’s in the AFC.

  110. 110 GermanEagle said at 6:46 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Yeah somehow we’re still unbeaten in the NFC…

  111. 111 shah8 said at 6:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

It’s not really Manning. People talk too much about the propaganda. It’s just a completely discombobulated pass defense.

  112. 112 shah8 said at 6:45 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    me neither.

Fixated on “flexibility” in the offseason instead of talent. Got Lane Johnson who’s giving meh production right now. Makes a ton of small brain farts.

But on top of it all, I just can’t believe how bad this defense is. It’s not a little bad. It’s actually a *worse* defense than the Raiders last week!

  113. 113 xeynon said at 6:46 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I’m not surprised at all. Horrible defense + one of the best QBs of all time playing at home = lots of points against.

This is not a good team. They’re not winning the Super Bowl, they’re not going to the playoffs, most likely they’re not even going to get to 8-8. Adjust your expectations accordingly and you’ll enjoy this season a lot more.

  114. 114 brza said at 6:51 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I expected this but it doesn’t make it feel any better. A drubbing is still a drubbing.

  115. 115 Andy124 said at 6:45 PM on September 29th, 2013:

The way this D is playing, you’d think Castillo just got fired.

  116. 116 Christopher Miller said at 6:45 PM on September 29th, 2013:

If Manning is carving you up, why not throw in more heavy blitzes?

  117. 117 Corry said at 6:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I honestly don’t think it matters what the defense does. They’re overmatched.

  118. 118 Christopher Miller said at 6:49 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Sure they are, but don’t you try something else? If nothing else it is more tape to evaluate your players on blitzing from edge or whatever.

  119. 119 Liza Clare said at 6:45 PM on September 29th, 2013:

every week the offense’s production has gone down.
the defense? Not an NFL group. How many guys on the Eagles’ defense would start for another team?

  120. 120 jshort said at 6:46 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    DRC looking good

  121. 121 Insomniac said at 6:50 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  122. 122 jshort said at 6:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

that last one on vick had the crossing route

  123. 123 Liza Clare said at 6:49 PM on September 29th, 2013:

time to ask about the offense’s passing concepts? or is just a lack of talent?

  124. 124 Christopher Miller said at 6:53 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I like the concepts, just not the execution.

  125. 125 shah8 said at 6:49 PM on September 29th, 2013:

And you know what? The constant complaints about Vick are in such poor taste, that you know, it doesn’t help your game.

  130. 130 Andy124 said at 6:51 PM on September 29th, 2013:

It’s in poor taste to complain about a player who’s not playing well? Really?

  131. 131 Crus57 said at 6:52 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Not like he’s alone in that, though.

  132. 132 Andy124 said at 6:54 PM on September 29th, 2013:

And they’ve been complained about too. Being the quarterback, he will rightfully receive the highest volume of criticism.

  133. 133 Stephen Stempo said at 6:53 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Shah8 is of the school ; The people around Vick make Vick look bad, Vick never makes himself look bad.

  134. 134 Stephen Stempo said at 6:51 PM on September 29th, 2013:

in poor taste? Why because he is stinking it up?

  135. 135 xeynon said at 6:54 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Shah8 is an incorrigible Vick apologist. It’s useless to argue with him because he’s impervious to evidence. Don’t bother.

  136. 136 xeynon said at 6:55 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Vick is not a good quarterback. He’s not the #1 problem with this team at all, but he is a problem and will need to be replaced before they can contend.

  137. 137 Andy124 said at 6:51 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Shady’s drop was a good thing I think.

    Where’s the offense Chip?
Bill Davis is and always will be a terrible hire. He does nothing well and brings not a single good record to the table.

  144. 144 Stephen Stempo said at 6:54 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I have a feeling the offense is on the bench somewhere. We should see it by week 10 I think.

  145. 145 Insomniac said at 6:53 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Not sure if special teams is worse this year or…having no decent returner for the past few years was better.

  146. 146 DamonL86 said at 6:54 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I don’t see any positives from this game other then it will be over in 14 minutes

  147. 147 BC1968 said at 6:54 PM on September 29th, 2013:

lol @ people complaining about Vick of all things this game.

  148. 148 shah8 said at 6:56 PM on September 29th, 2013:

They’ll call you a Vick Apologist with that comment!

  149. 149 BC1968 said at 6:57 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Vick hasn’t done anything great this game believe me I know that, but he hasn’t done the things that are maddening either. This team is getting it’s ass handed to them because of the defense 90 percent.

  150. 150 xeynon said at 6:56 PM on September 29th, 2013:

The defense and special teams have been worse but that doesn’t mean Vick hasn’t been bad.

  151. 151 shah8 said at 6:57 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Thing is?

    No.

    He hasn’t played badly.

  152. 152 Andy124 said at 6:57 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    lol

  153. 153 xeynon said at 6:58 PM on September 29th, 2013:

He’s 2-7 in the second half and hasn’t been able to move the ball at all. He’s put up 13 points against a mediocre defense. In what universe is that not playing badly?

  154. 154 shah8 said at 6:59 PM on September 29th, 2013:

People actually watch what’s going on.

  155. 155 BC1968 said at 7:00 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Of all the QBs, he gives them the best chance to win on this team, Foles would’ve gotten his lunch against this mediocre defense because this o-line has played like SHIT.

  156. 156 xeynon said at 7:03 PM on September 29th, 2013:

No argument there. My argument isn’t that Foles is better. It’s that Vick isn’t good.

  157. 157 Stephen Stempo said at 6:59 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Just because he hasn’t thrown 4 picks doesnt’ mean he’s played ok.

  158. 158 shah8 said at 7:01 PM on September 29th, 2013:

He’s throwing for over 9 yards per attempt. He’s had a bunch of drops, and peeps aren’t really getting that open either, like that failure on that sack on a zero blitz before my tv went to SD.

  159. 159 BC1968 said at 6:58 PM on September 29th, 2013:

No, Vick hasn’t been good, but he hasn’t been crazy throw the ball up for grabs dumb passes that would normally make people mad. Like you said, it’s been a team effort.

  160. 160 xeynon said at 7:02 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Playing badly doesn’t have to mean playing cover-your-eyes-awfully. I’ll give you that he’s played better than Blaine Gabbert, Josh Freeman, or Terrell Pryor this season. But that doesn’t mean he’s played well.

  161. 161 shah8 said at 7:05 PM on September 29th, 2013:

At what point does it just get too shameless even for you? We’re getting embarrassed on pretty much national tv, and you can’t be bothered to do anything but complain about Vick, who is so far from the problem that he’s on another planet? What the bleep is wrong with you? Are you rooting for Vick to fail more than you give any two fecal spatters for the TEAM?

  162. 162 Andy124 said at 7:07 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Because Vick is the only one getting defended.

  163. 163 shah8 said at 7:08 PM on September 29th, 2013:

shouldn’t need to. No interceptions. No fumbles. Giving the rest of the offense to make plays. Pretending Vick can whistle up open people who don’t drop balls is just unpleasantly magical thinking.

  164. 164 xeynon said at 7:18 PM on September 29th, 2013:

The defense and the special teams have been abominable. Vick has merely been bad.

I’ve made the point that he’s not the primary problem with this team. Pointing out that he IS a problem is just being rational though. Apparently what’s matter with me is that I recognize a mediocre quarterback when I see one.

  165. 165 Allen3000 said at 6:55 PM on September 29th, 2013:

There’s no shame in losing a tough contested game. This team flat out gave up in the second half and there’s no way you can convince me otherwise. Never expected a win, but I did expect to see more effort and intensity for all 4 quarters.

  166. 166 jshort said at 6:55 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  173. 173 SteveH said at 7:02 PM on September 29th, 2013:

well Dallas is losing and Oakland/Wash is tight, the Giants got blown out earlier… We’re still very much in the race for the division!

  174. 174 Stephen Stempo said at 7:02 PM on September 29th, 2013:

So Denver has figured out that the way to beat Vick is to blitz him up the middle since he panics. I’m pretty sure that’s the same way defenses have beaten Vick for 4 years

  175. 175 Crus57 said at 7:03 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Pretty sure pressure up the middle panics most QBs, though.

  176. 176 xeynon said at 7:09 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Yeah, but quarterbacks who can make quick reads and go to the hot receiver will punish a defense for blitzing them up the middle too much. Vick can’t do that, making him particularly vulnerable to this tactic.

  177. 177 GermanEagle said at 7:05 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Pretty sure our defense sucks.

  178. 178 Flyin said at 7:02 PM on September 29th, 2013:

This team sucks! Chip has no balls!!!

  179. 179 BC1968 said at 7:03 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I haven’t been online but if anyone said Foles during this thread I would roll on the floor because of some of the things Vick had to get out of and the coverage that these lame ass receivers can’t get off of. Single fucking coverage. Cooper sucks as a number 2. Maclin killed them. Shady can’t do it all.

  180. 180 Andy124 said at 7:04 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Foles was called for because the game is over.

  181. 181 xeynon said at 7:07 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Tom Brady has worse receivers than Vick does. So does Phil Rivers. Ryan Tannehill, Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick, etc. aren’t working with much more than he is, if anything. Sometimes a quarterback needs to put the ball in tight spaces and make his receivers look good and Vick is utterly incapable of doing that.

  182. 182 RIPJJ said at 7:04 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Poorly coached football team (offense, defense and special teams)- go ahead and look at it with rose colored glassed and let the spin cycle begin!!

  183. 183 BC1968 said at 7:04 PM on September 29th, 2013:

We’re not going to survive with this defensive coordinator this year or going forward, he has always sucked and always will.

  184. 184 Liza Clare said at 7:04 PM on September 29th, 2013:

no one should be blaming vick. all receivers usually covered. o-line not what we thought. give vick some time off. no reason to get him killed.

  185. 185 BC1968 said at 7:05 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Exactly, single freaking coverage these guys can’t get off of. VIck ducking out of the d-line….it’s a team effort.

  186. 186 Andy124 said at 7:05 PM on September 29th, 2013:

BS. It’s a team game and losses are never the responsibility of one player alone. But that doesn’t mean Vick is immune to his share of the blame for this one. He did not play well.

  187. 187 Insomniac said at 7:04 PM on September 29th, 2013:

So which 2 FA WRs are we signing? Cooper and Mael gotta go.

  188. 188 Crus57 said at 7:05 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Cooper can stay for STs

  189. 189 Christopher Miller said at 7:05 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Cooper shouldn’t go, just needs to be a #4 like his skill set warrants.

  190. 190 xeynon said at 7:11 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Maehl is not an NFL receiver. Chip needs to be called out on the possible Oregon nepotism here because however hard that guy practices or however well he knows the system he doesn’t belong at this level.

  191. 191 A_T_G said at 7:41 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  194. 194 BC1968 said at 7:07 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Here’s the deal, it’s not that it’s that Vick didn’t stink up the joint, it’s just the alternative would’ve been the same or worse. When the alternative is better, yeah, then ok. Unless Foles can hit receivers that can’t get open and can duck out of this lousy O-line.

  195. 195 BC1968 said at 7:08 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  224. 224 Christopher Miller said at 7:17 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Yeah let’s not make too much of Foles at this point. However, I always thought that was the advantage he gave over Vick, while Vick had that pretty long ball and the mobility.

didn’t even mention foles…just sayin get the ball out

  226. 226 Christopher Miller said at 7:24 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Didn’t say you did…saying that for the benefit of all those (jokingly I hope) saying QB controversy. I would love to see what Foles could do with a week of game planning though because I thought all off season he executed the offense the way we thought Chip envisioned it better…just got outplayed overall by Vick. Vick is not the future, and I fear we will never get the chance to see whether Nick could have been.

  227. 227 jshort said at 7:29 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  241. 241 BlindChow said at 7:17 PM on September 29th, 2013:

When Vick throws those, the receiver drops it.

  242. 242 Stephen Stempo said at 7:20 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Vick doesn’t throw those he’s too athletic. He never had to learn to lead recievers He throws it after their open . Egles rewind has a good article on that.

  243. 243 BlindChow said at 7:23 PM on September 29th, 2013:

He had two today: one to Celek and one to McCoy. Both times it looked like the receiver was too interested in continuing to run than catch the ball first.

  244. 244 BC1968 said at 7:17 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Preseason football don’t put too much into it.

  245. 245 brza said at 7:19 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Foles also completely overthrew Brown in the flat on the same drive.

Vick isn’t the problem for everything as well as Foles isn’t the answer to everything. Neither are optimal.

Either way the QB we need is still playing on Saturdays.

  246. 246 xeynon said at 7:24 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Yeah, I never got that, since their still showing the local stream with the local ads… who cares.

  253. 253 GermanEagle said at 7:19 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I love it. eagles d and special teams give up 52 points and some eagles fans are still blaming Vick for the loss/ gotta love Philly. Lol

  255. 255 Andy124 said at 7:20 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  256. 256 A_T_G said at 7:20 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I didn’t see any of the comments you are talking about. I saw plenty commenting on Vick’s disappointing play, but I missed the ones blaming him for the loss.

  257. 257 xeynon said at 7:21 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Who’s blaming Vick for the loss? I don’t see anyone who’s saying they win this game with Foles or that the defense and special teams aren’t 95% responsible.

What I do see is people saying Vick hasn’t played well. And he hasn’t.

  258. 258 shah8 said at 7:21 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  265. 265 xeynon said at 7:30 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Please point me to the lying or untruthful statement I made.

You can say that it’s not true when I say that Vick didn’t play well; the thing is, whether a guy is playing well is a subjective judgment, not an objective fact. A statement on the matter therefore cannot be a lie. You can disagree with judgment (and no doubt you do), but that doesn’t make me a liar. It makes you wrong.

  266. 266 GermanEagle said at 7:23 PM on September 29th, 2013:

No he hasn’t/ but his receivers didn’t really help him out today. It’s really ironic that almost all former eagles seem to be playing well somewhere else/ so was DRC today. CuJo and Patt will be the ones next week I am afraid.

  267. 267 BC1968 said at 7:24 PM on September 29th, 2013:

When people start saying Vick this or that, it’s the same as the McNabb people or any other QB who has played in this city. It’s backup quarterback city.

  268. 268 GermanEagle said at 7:26 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Thank you.

  269. 269 Stephen Stempo said at 7:30 PM on September 29th, 2013:

McNabb is at least twice the QB Vick is or ever was or ever will be. They’re not even in the same discussion.

  270. 270 GermanEagle said at 7:31 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I think McNabb would have put up 55 points… Not!

  271. 271 xeynon said at 7:43 PM on September 29th, 2013:

True of some people, but not all.

McNabb was a very accomplished quarterback with a long track record of regular season and postseason success, so saying that he wasn’t good when he got off to a bad start in a new season was stupid. Vick is an unaccomplished quarterback with a long track record of inconsistency and poor performance against competent defenses. Saying that he’s not good when he gets off to a bad start is therefore a different sort of statement, because it is backed up rather than contradicted by the preponderance of the evidence.

I’m not going to pound the drum too hard for Foles, because I have strong doubts that he’s capable of being a Super Bowl-caliber starter. But anyone who thinks that with Vick this team has the answer they need at the quarterback position is frankly delusional in my view.

  272. 272 BC1968 said at 7:21 PM on September 29th, 2013:

German no one was watching the O-line or the lame receivers. Foles would’ve got the shit kicked out of him today.

  273. 273 Stephen Stempo said at 7:27 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Visk would have made the denver O line look bad sorry I dont buy it. HE HOLDS THE BALL FOREVER. That’s not new. He rolls into pressure when he panics, which is always too early.

also strawman. Just pointing out Vick as bad isn’t the same as saying Foles is or would be good.

  274. 274 Stephen Stempo said at 7:24 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I don blame Vick for the loss it’d be like blaming the sky for being blue. The only chance we had to win this game was for Vick to be perfect or as close as possible. He doesn’t have that in him, which I think is what people were pointing out.

  275. 275 GermanEagle said at 7:25 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    @ all
Here’s one example of blaming Vick.

  276. 276 Andy124 said at 7:28 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Uh, no. That’s acknowledging that our D cannot stop PM, so to have a chance, Vick would have to play two standard deviations greater than his median, which isn’t really a reasonable expectation.

  277. 277 GermanEagle said at 7:29 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Where is this median coming from?! 😉

  278. 278 Stephen Stempo said at 7:35 PM on September 29th, 2013:

There’s a difference between blaming Vick and pointing out tht EVEN if all the receiver made all the catches and the Line played perfect there was NO WAY Vick could still have won this game. He’s not a great QB, never has been. I don’t get people who think he still has any potential.

He’s overwhelmed and slowing down and without that speed to outrun a D end it’s over.

  279. 279 shah8 said at 7:25 PM on September 29th, 2013:

But when Rome is burning and barbarians are pouring through the walls, you’re blaming Cesar’s wife for all the trouble she caused with her gossip!

  280. 280 xeynon said at 7:45 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Not really. More like saying that the general who’s been placed in charge of leading a counterattack isn’t up to the task.

  281. 281 Vick or Nick said at 7:23 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    So…Like I said earlier this week…

    I’m still nervous. And Scared.

I just want to forget this game like a bad dream.

  282. 282 A_T_G said at 7:28 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  289. 289 BC1968 said at 7:29 PM on September 29th, 2013:

You’re right, but in football it’s probably different, especially for a QB IMO…but, Vick won’t be here probably, we’ll lose a better draft pick, so yeah making the playoffs, even in this terrible defense, won’t be a great thing. I’ll be happy though..lol

  290. 290 GermanEagle said at 7:28 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  291. 291 Liza Clare said at 7:29 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    total butt kicking.
broncos came out in the second half, punched the eagles’ defense in the mouth. and the game was over after that.

    lol…you might be right

  297. 297 xeynon said at 7:32 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  298. 298 jshort said at 7:32 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    might b us

  299. 299 xeynon said at 7:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I kinda doubt it… we have the division’s worst defense and worst starting quarterback (which is true regardless of whether Vick or Foles is playing). Hard to win with that combination.

  300. 300 BC1968 said at 8:00 PM on September 29th, 2013:

We’ve seen teams come back and get their shit together after horrible starts, so highly doubtful is the right question, but hey, who knows.

  301. 301 BC1968 said at 8:01 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Oops supposed to be to xeynon

  302. 302 brza said at 7:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

You’re probably right but this division is playing horrible football right now.

As much as I hate to admit it, it’d
probably be better to just suck this year so we can get a franchise QB
and stock up on some defensive fits in the draft. Hard to imagine this
team going far if they do make the playoffs. Mediocrity will really
damage this team in the long run. Actually it would probably damage any team in the division except for the Skins. The division winner this year will most likely be the biggest loser in the long run.

We need a QB and too many parts on the defense to hope for a 9-7 season and playoff berth.

  303. 303 xeynon said at 7:48 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Agree. I actually think the Browns are making the right move by trading Richardson and adopting an NBA-esque tanking strategy.

We had Suck for Luck; this is the season to Play Dead for Ted.

  304. 304 DarthBanner said at 7:32 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Wow, we are so far from competing with a good team. So disheartening.

  305. 305 Liza Clare said at 7:32 PM on September 29th, 2013:

i wonder if Joe Banner is snickering tonight

  306. 306 Christopher Miller said at 7:34 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Nah, too busy figuring out how to redistribute the only good players on his team before the trade deadline.

  307. 307 BC1968 said at 7:33 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Ray Didinger just gave me unlikely hope that this team can right the ship against some lousy teams coming up

  308. 308 Stephen Stempo said at 7:41 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I think 3-3 is possible even likely. Our second half schedule looks much easier as the season progresses. You don’t have to play Peyton every week thank god.

  309. 309 Andy124 said at 7:34 PM on September 29th, 2013:

As bad as it was, the Eagles will likely be favored to win their next two and make it back to .500 imo.

  310. 310 BlindChow said at 7:46 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I dunno, I think people are going to start tossing them with the Jags and Raiders for the Get Ready for Teddy Sweepstakes. Even the offense isn’t working anymore.

  311. 311 BC1968 said at 7:46 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Nah, we ripped the Chargers apart and we have to get back to that, and I think they can.

  312. 312 Andy124 said at 7:50 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Well, I figure NYG has been horrible. No way we’re not favored in that game. Then we go against TB coming off a win. If NYG looks as bad against us as they have against everybody else, we’d be coming off an impressive win and going against a TB team starting an unheralded rookie qb coming off a game where he cost his team badly, thus my favored in the next 2 guess.

  313. 313 BC1968 said at 7:34 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Ray DIdinger just said it, NOBODY was open and you couldn’t hardly put this game on Vick. Basically a hall of fame football writer just backed Vick.

  314. 314 Stephen Stempo said at 7:40 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Well how does one judge QB’s decision making in an offense where the QB is responsible for making the run/pass calls at the line pre snap?

We’ll see. I mean Vick does have all those seasons in his past where he has played super well for long stretches. By all those seasons i mean that 10 games that one time.

  315. 315 BC1968 said at 7:44 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Vick isn’t responsible for making run/pass calls, that’s all Chip, and there aren’t many, other than Manning who do it.

  316. 316 A_T_G said at 7:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I think he was referring to the option plays where Vick can hand it to Shady or pull it back and throw.

And there are a lot of QBs that have the authority to audible from a pass to run or vice-versa, not just Peyton.

  317. 317 BC1968 said at 7:49 PM on September 29th, 2013:

A lot but not that many, and CHip, like Andy, isn’t a fan of that, they call the play and that’s it. Chip just said now that Mike played and you’ll see the quote. No I’m not talking audibles, everyone knows about them, not true at all, the option wasn’t there, and foles couldn’t run that play anyway.

  318. 318 A_T_G said at 7:54 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I had trouble following you there, you were kind of all over the place.

If you aren’t talking audibles at the line, how does Peyton change the plays?

    What isn’t true?

And Foles ran the option, successfully, at least three times, within the last hour.

Edit: why are audibles or running the offense from the line even relevant? He was talking about option plays.

  319. 319 BC1968 said at 8:02 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Peyton runs the offensive, but when he gets to the line does he not change, or pretend to change? Also ,he clearly changed the call at the line on the play where saw the guy sitting all by himself on the outside. You’re right i’m am all over the place, I’m having too many conversation. Shit I’m just going to wait for Tommy’s breakdown now. LOLLL

  320. 320 Stephen Stempo said at 7:48 PM on September 29th, 2013:

oh. I seem to be woefully misinformed about a key aspect of kelly’s offense.

  321. 321 BC1968 said at 7:50 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Who runs an offense like that except Manning. Yeah audibles are called, but rarely QB’s run the team like that, especially on this team. McNabb wasn’t even allowed to audible I’m pretty sure.

  322. 322 BlindChow said at 7:50 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Philip Rivers?

  323. 323 BC1968 said at 7:52 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Rivers runs the whole game? Even if he does, keep naming quarterbacks who run the game like that. The Eagles never call audibles, shit I can’t remember the last time they did.

  324. 324 BC1968 said at 7:36 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Diddy said it was 2 different games almost, everyone was open for the Broncos, nobody was open for the Eagles. They actually gave Vick credit on postgame for making good decisions. Can’t wait to see Tommy break this down.

  325. 325 shah8 said at 7:38 PM on September 29th, 2013:

That’s not going to matter to people who aren’t staring wide-eyed at one the worst defensive performances they’ve ever seen.

  326. 326 BC1968 said at 7:39 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Agreed, this will be the only place we will probably see anybody complaining about Vick. With that defensive, special teams, lousy o-line and receiver effort, how can anyone be singled out?

  327. 327 Andy124 said at 7:41 PM on September 29th, 2013:

They were all bad. He’s the only one being singled out to be defended.

  328. 328 Stephen Stempo said at 7:44 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Didn’t you know Mike Vick cure cancer in his free time and give out free candy to children and save kittens from trees while singing the star spangled banner and fighting terrorism. How he finds time to even be a mediocre QB is beyond me.

  329. 329 BC1968 said at 7:46 PM on September 29th, 2013:

The fact that you think he is responsible for making pass/run calls at the line means that you don’t understand anyways. Vick was barely responsible for this game, and anyone knows that.

  330. 330 Andy124 said at 7:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Did you not read the breakdowns about the run/pass package plays we’re supposedly running a lot of? That’s what Stephen is referring to.

  331. 331 BC1968 said at 7:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

When is it Vick’s call to make them?

  332. 332 Ark87 said at 7:40 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Not gonna get down about this game, we played a superbowl contender, imo a superbowl favorite, at home, and they demonstrated exactly how far away we are from our goal. Was hoping to hold them under 50, and score more than 20, but this isn’t THAT shocking.

  333. 333 BlindChow said at 7:42 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Just watched the last 10 minutes of the Dallas game to cheer myself up. Dallas lost in hilarious fashion, fumbling the ball at the Chargers’ one-yard line! Ha!

  334. 334 BobSmith77 said at 7:43 PM on September 29th, 2013:

What’s worse – the defense last year that had some more talent but really underachieved or this year’s unit which simply has doesn’t have much talent but does give you a pretty good effort?

The sad thing today is that I didn’t think the D really quit. They just got embarrassed and Manning & Broncos could have 60+ pts on this team.

  335. 335 Ark87 said at 7:45 PM on September 29th, 2013:

what we have now is much worse, this time last year our defense was a solid unit, wasn’t until their DC was fired and they quit that it got ugly. Lets hope we get some wins before this year’s defense gets uglier

  336. 336 BobSmith77 said at 7:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I have to think it is also as much the 3-4 scheme and the coordinator.

The only thing that is going to stop Manning is injury and/or cold weather in Jan.

  337. 337 Ark87 said at 7:48 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  339. 339 BobSmith77 said at 7:45 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  340. 340 BC1968 said at 7:47 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    Happy Halloween.

  341. 341 BobSmith77 said at 7:50 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Like an old Bulls’ game with Jordan where bad teams would hang around at halftime and then Jordan would come out after halftime and putting an absolute beating on teams early in the 2nd half to make most later part of the game garbage time. Exactly what Manning did today.

  342. 342 BC1968 said at 7:51 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Chip said that Vick played well, threw the ball well, and he said he was sometimes was planting his foot and was getting buried. He wasn’t protecting Vick, he was basically slamming the O-line.

  343. 343 Andy124 said at 7:54 PM on September 29th, 2013:

Again, only one being singled out to be defended.

  344. 344 BC1968 said at 7:55 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  345. 345 Andy124 said at 7:56 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  346. 346 BC1968 said at 7:56 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    No shit, are you kidding?

  347. 347 Andy124 said at 7:57 PM on September 29th, 2013:

    huh?

  348. 348 BC1968 said at 7:58 PM on September 29th, 2013:

You don’t think I know the whole team was blamed, but the way they talk about Vick we all know we’re going to hear the moronic Foles talk soon, which hopefully we can avoid. Such a boring conversation.

  349. 349 A_T_G said at 8:00 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  350. 350 Andy124 said at 8:06 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  351. 351 Andy124 said at 8:00 PM on September 29th, 2013:

  352. 352 Corry said at 7:55 PM on September 29th, 2013:

I don’t think a big pile of shit is really accurate either. A big pile of shit would have slowed down that returner.

Starting offense has scored a whopping 29 points the past two weeks. Hmmm….

In the end, the offense is clearly disabled with no number 2 and Maclin being out killed them. Oh and their defense sucks like no defense ever has in this town. Oh and Rendell talked about them maybe being able to win their next five. WHy do they let him on that panel?

Oh, so this is Maclin’s fault now? Why is no one blaming the defense?!?!?!?!

Seems like an appropriately awkward time to repeat my wishes to have been able to see what Benn could do in this offense.
