Good thing I was supposed to hide under my bed because the big bad Giants were coming…

  25. 25 Avery Greene said at 11:53 PM on October 12th, 2014:

After the disaster last week, they stepped up. We have lost 3 ILBs to injury and still dominated the front with Matthews/Acho as the fill-ins. This defense is starting to gel.

  29. 29 SteveH said at 11:49 PM on October 12th, 2014:

Foles was really good pretty much all night except for those 2 head scratchingly bad ints. He sailed one over cooper, but otherwise I can’t really think of any throws that were noticeably off.

  30. 30 ConcussedFB said at 11:49 PM on October 12th, 2014:

Best of both worlds, dominating win and two bad interceptions to kill him. They were bad throws. If your trying to throw it away. THROW it away.

  31. 31 xeynon said at 11:51 PM on October 12th, 2014:

I’m hardly a Foles troll (I’ve been cautiously optimistic about him for a long time now), but he’s got to cut it out with the bad interceptions. One of them he threw without looking where the defender was, the other he tried to force in on a play that just wasn’t there instead of throwing it away. Both mistakes you can’t have your quarterback making in, say, the NFC championship game.

He’s had his moments this year, but he also has the most turnovers of any player in football, and that can’t keep up if we’re going to be a Super Bowl team.

  32. 32 Mitchell said at 11:54 PM on October 12th, 2014:

I agree with you but as I posted earlier: he is still a young qb and I know he and Kelly will fix his mistakes as the year goes on. He knows he is making dumb mistakes. That TD to Ertz was just beautiful….

  33. 33 xeynon said at 11:57 PM on October 12th, 2014:

It was. When he’s right, he looks every bit a franchise quarterback. He just needs to be right a bit more consistently.

  34. 34 Mitchell said at 11:58 PM on October 12th, 2014:

That is a totally fair criticism and if you take away those two completely dumb throws he is essentially perfect tonight. Regardless though, our whole team played very well.

  53. 53 Mitchell said at 11:57 PM on October 12th, 2014:

All in all REALLY good win, obviously. This game gave us a taste of what he could be, kind of like the Bears game last year. We have the bye week to get Kendricks back and then to beat the CARDS.

  54. 54 ChaosOnion said at 11:58 PM on October 12th, 2014:

NFL Network is talking about how good the DAL defense has gotten this year.
The same evening the Eagles defense sacked Eli Manning 8 times, shut
out an offense that spent the past 3 weeks scoring 30+ points per game
and has 19 straight games with a turnover. Where is the love, man?

That is fine. Under the radar is fine. Offense looked good.
Defense looked dominant. O-line will be back to full strength just in
time for the push to the playoffs. Then, the Eagles really start
    punching people in the mouth!

  55. 55 P_P_K said at 12:00 AM on October 13th, 2014:

I think the reason the Cowboys D is getting a lot of attention is because they were historically bad last year and predicted to be among the worst in the NFL this year.

Defense: You know, it looked like Billy Davis used press-man to give the front 7 time to kick ass. I also didn’t see as much “prevent” at the end of the game. I saw attack mode!

  60. 60 Anders said at 11:59 PM on October 12th, 2014:

  63. 63 Avery Greene said at 12:01 AM on October 13th, 2014:

I’m so excited about this win. The most hated rival (for me) and we just dominated all game. No let down. 60 minutes of football. This is a win to enjoy for a couple weeks.

  64. 64 Mitchell said at 12:01 AM on October 13th, 2014:

One huge topic we haven’t touched on: The Eagles learned how to run a clock a bit more efficiently than in previous games! We bled a ton of clock off and if we had the starters in we could have run probably at least twice the time. Good job to Kelly for finding a weakness and improving.

  65. 65 Avery Greene said at 12:03 AM on October 13th, 2014:

Collingsworth talked about this. They didn’t huddle but went to the line and it seemed to work better for them.

  67. 67 BlindChow said at 12:07 AM on October 13th, 2014:

Side note: Coughlin should be called out for the way that game ended. I know you want to save face by trying to put something on the board, but seriously… you already lost your best offensive weapon for the year, and you try to drag out the game and risk more of your players (and Eagles players for that matter) for no good reason. Complete bulls&$#t! I thought there were no moral victories in football, but yet he tries to score meaningless points at the end of a game where he got completely dominated, and now, completely outclassed.

  85. 85 P_P_K said at 12:27 AM on October 13th, 2014:

  86. 86 Anders said at 12:31 AM on October 13th, 2014:

Well Coughlin did put in as many 2nd stringers, so really cant fault him. Same with the Eagles. Why not give Nassib and the backups some snaps? Not like he went with the FG after the penalty gift.

  90. 90 CampDracula said at 12:10 AM on October 13th, 2014:

True story- my first Eagles game at the Vet was the shutout against the Giants in 1996. Ty Detmer was the QB and it was cold and rainy. This one was sweeter.

  92. 92 Joe Minx said at 12:11 AM on October 13th, 2014:

I get the feeling that if you offered Tommy a lifetime supply of Funyuns & PBR AND Megan Fox in exchange for this shutout, he might actually have to think about it for a few seconds.

  93. 93 Avery Greene said at 12:15 AM on October 13th, 2014:

I’m loving we can fly under the radar for a few more weeks. The NFL Channel is saying Dallas is the best team in the NFL and it’s all they can talk about. Let them talk, we’re coming baby…

  94. 94 Anders said at 12:19 AM on October 13th, 2014:

That defense is looking better than I thought and Murray is just beasting right now, but Murray is gonna be at like 300 carries by Thanksgiving and not sure that Cowboys defense can keep it up if the Dallas ground game can not control the game

  95. 95 Avery Greene said at 12:21 AM on October 13th, 2014:

Seattle’s offense isn’t that explosive. If you can get their running game in check, you can beat them. I think their CBs are a bit overrated (not saying they aren’t good), but they’ve been struggling a bit more this year since they are cracking down on contact more often.
Seattle has a ton of talent, but they aren’t explosive on offense. I think it’s starting to catch up with them.

  96. 96 Anders said at 12:23 AM on October 13th, 2014:

I know Kelly hates TOP, but I think it is telling that in their two losses Seattle lost the TOP battle very loopsided.

That of course ties to that the offense isnt super explosive and it also helps a bad defense mask how bad it is, if the offense has the ball all the time.

  97. 97 Avery Greene said at 12:24 AM on October 13th, 2014:

Good observation. The Eagles offense can be explosive, and can score quick. It depends on how your team is setup.

  98. 98 BlindChow said at 12:24 AM on October 13th, 2014:

The weird thing is, they kept their OWN running game in check. Lynch had 2 carries in the first half? Their offensive coordinator just called an idiotic game.

  99. 99 Avery Greene said at 12:26 AM on October 13th, 2014:

I couldn’t watch the game because my market forced me to watch AZ/Redskins. But I’ve never thought Seattle’s offense was that good, it was always their defense. I’m wondering if San Diego gave enough tape for the rest of the league to catch up or if it’s the new rules emphasis that’s causing them to not be so dominant.

  100. 100 Mitchell said at 12:21 AM on October 13th, 2014:

That’s all any national media outlet can talk about.

  101. 101 Jernst said at 12:19 AM on October 13th, 2014:

  102. 102 Anders said at 12:25 AM on October 13th, 2014:

How insane is it that a defense coached by Jim Johnson and with guys like Brian Dawkins, Trotter etc. could never pinch a shut out, but Bill Davis does it with spar parts found in FA?

  103. 103 BlindChow said at 12:26 AM on October 13th, 2014:

Jim Johnson didn’t have Casey Matthews, that’s why.

  104. 104 Anders said at 12:27 AM on October 13th, 2014:

  105. 105 Avery Greene said at 12:26 AM on October 13th, 2014:

I think this front seven is really good. They can get pressure with practice squad players. They’ve lost 3 ILBs to injury and still dominate up front. That says something.

  106. 106 Anders said at 12:27 AM on October 13th, 2014:

yea, but look up some of the early 2000 defenses or the 2008 for that matter, we was among the best in yards, sacks, turnovers and points and yet never had a shut out.

  107. 107 Avery Greene said at 12:31 AM on October 13th, 2014:

Does this mean we finally have a defense to shut down opponents?

  108. 108 MaggieMagpie said at 2:06 AM on October 13th, 2014:

  110. 110 Mitchell said at 12:31 AM on October 13th, 2014:

  111. 111 Anders said at 12:32 AM on October 13th, 2014:

Tough to say. Next slate of games is going to be tough.

  112. 112 SteveH said at 12:32 AM on October 13th, 2014:

15-1!!!! Ok seriously I don’t know. I’m just enjoying the moment.

  113. 113 Avery Greene said at 12:32 AM on October 13th, 2014:

I said 12-4 before the season started. I’m not sure, but I think of all things our next 4 games are going to determine how we finish. I think we go 5-1 the last 6 games of the season, but if we can go 3-1 over the next 4 weeks, we may get a bye.

  114. 114 Anders said at 12:34 AM on October 13th, 2014:

  115. 115 Avery Greene said at 12:36 AM on October 13th, 2014:

You know that’s funny. Before the season everyone was ripping how weak our division was. Now, we’ve got two teams legitimately in talks about late season runs. Funny thing is, even the Giants might sneak in the wild card.

No, they still have to play us….. twice.

Not sure why people think we have it tough after the bye…Arizona, Texans, Titans are all garbage teams. Carolina is decent but imminently beatable. Green Bay is the only team that scares me. Cowboys, Seahawks, Cowboys, Redskins, Giants is a laughably difficult way to end the season. Those last 5 games are all blood baths. Yes, even the skins…division games are always tough.

Awww, Cardinals aren’t garbage but we should win that one, especially with a week to prepare.

15-1 is this a trick question?

I was at the game tonight. That place was rocking. Fans were into all game and were loud. Could you guys at home tell?

Problem is stadium noise on TV is controled by the TV station. They can make the stadium sound silent even if rocking and the other way around

  124. 124 Mitchell said at 12:37 AM on October 13th, 2014:

So we are -5 in our TO differential now…. WOOF. That’s why, no matter how many turnovers we have in a game, we still have a chance to win. Incredible.

Funny is, that gives us margin for positive regression unless Foles decides that he wants to throw at least 1 int per game to make up for last year

Also gotta give credit to Stoutland, he had Molk and Tobin ready to play really well today

GEAGLE: Vinny Curry with 4 sacks and a FF thus far this season. How do you feel about your scenario with Dion Jordan?

  130. 130 Avery Greene said at 12:52 AM on October 13th, 2014:

I don’t want that guy. He seems a total mess, but I’m not a scout. This is why professionals get paid. He seems to make mistake after mistake in Miami, but sometimes a change of scenery changes someone. I’m not opposed to it, but I’m concerned it’s not a slam dunk like most people expect.

2 weeks of being “giddy” – I can’t think of a better word for it. I will enjoy this immensely, but at the same time, the Cards game can’t get here soon enough.
