Game Preview – Titans Come to Town

Posted: November 23rd, 2014 | Author: | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 20 Comments »

Tennessee is just 2-8. The Eagles are better on paper and in reality. The Eagles are at home, where they haven’t lost in more than a year. This is a game they should absolutely win.

I’m feeling greedy today. I want the Eagles to come out and play well. I want them to execute at a high level and play a fairly clean game. If they do that, this will be a blowout. If the Eagles are sloppy, the Titans will give them a major test. 4 of Tennessee previous 6 games were decided by a FG or less. They don’t know how to win, but the Titans will play hard and fight you.

Here is my preview for PE.com.

Tennessee is 31st in run defense. The Eagles better be able to run the ball today.

I don’t have any strong feelings on this game in terms of individual or team predictions. The Eagles don’t lose back-to-back under Kelly very much so I feel good about them winning today. But like I said…I’m feeling greedy. I want the Eagles to go out and play well. Let’s bury the memory of last week’s game in a deep hole in the back yard.

The GEAGLE “Pigeon of the week”, the “blindsides” Micheal Oher, starting RT has already given up 6 sacks, should have a tough day at home against the BRAMA Bull Barwin…
    ….
Something I’d like to improve on but that isn’t an issue this week, is our pass rush on the road needs to catch up to our pass rush at home…. need to improve our pass rush on the road, sure it’s better at home when your opponent can’t communicate and hear his QB, but there is also a positive about pass rushing on the road, you can hear all the checks opponents are making,.need to improve our pass rush on the roads and today at home, we have to make up for not hitting Rogers smug face last week..
    ..l
Bad karma, just watch… Throwing the ball when you are up 50 points in the 4th, laughing and smiling, giggling like a school girl….BAD Karma Mr. Rogers, watch that collarbone of yours pal

What I really like about the suspect Titan run defense is they often get caught overpursuing, which should provide some cutback lanes for shady to get going.
    .
This is a 2-9 team, but they play hard, and have some nice talent.
    ..
When you outclass your opponent so much, and they are mathematically eliminated, gotta watch out for the “tricks”, onside kicks, FAke punts and FGs, watch the big X plays going deep. Rookie QB has a big arm and they have some weapons at WR…..

Ray Horton is going to blitz the hell out of us, so we return the favor and blitz their rookie QB. Our WR should get plenty 1on1 opportunities on the outside, time to step up and put a whopping on these corners..
    ..
Eagles have NEVER beaten Titans. Last time we beat this franchise they were the Oielers. Fortunately all those Titans losses came against Andy…who did “consistent” andy and his KC Cheifs lose to this year?….the Titans. So hopefully andy took that curse with him to KC

Idk I always feel like the Titans are a trap game for us. Fun little fact..we haven’t beaten the Titans since 1994.

Hoping for a frigid cold day in New York today, wouldn’t mind a nice cold, day tightening Romos back up…. I’m expecting the Giants to muster up “one Last Stand” and get up to play their rival Cowboys tough…. Need a nice grueling hard hitting NFC east battle. don’t have much face in Giants getting a win, but I want them to Put the Cowboys thru a very physical game, we are home today, game over we can start on chips “world class” recovery program. The Cowboys had to Fly to NY, then fly home and get ready for a short week against the Eagles. Romo usually doesn’t even practice til Thursday because his body needs the rest, this week he will have to put his body thru the grinder, practicing so soon after a game, to get ready to play Thursday. Usually Thursday is Romos first day of practice,..this short week should be really tough on Romo, hopefully we put the cherry on top and give him a beating Thursday..

This short week should be a big advantage for us, all our players rave so much about everything chip does for “recovery” hopefully that comes in handy this weeks Suort schedule “war of attriction”

It’s a game we have to win. Not expecting a blow out, last few weeks Titans have been pretty close in every game.

Watching their game on Monday I’d like to see them run Polk down the middle a lot. Got an odd premonition that we might see a Josh Huff score today.

Which team is Huff going to score a touchdown for?

(Despite the snark, I have high hopes for Huff.)

  8. 8 Corry said at 12:51 PM on November 23rd, 2014:

I have high hopes for him too, but Huff has been the Eagles “little black cloud”. He’s around and bad things just happen.

  9. 9 Patrick said at 11:01 AM on November 23rd, 2014:

I could really go for another game where we just dominate the ground right about know. Just run the ball right down their throat and dominate them on the LOS. Keep the ball away from the Sanchize and let him settle into the game nice and easy. If we manage that, I dont really care about anything else. The Titans does not have the QB or the targets we couldn’t stop in Green Bay, so the defense can go back to just mildly suck.

Wow Tommy! You seem more fired up than normal, today!!! Let’s send these Titans home with a fat lip!

(Why can’t I say ‘Fired Up’ without thinking of Andy Reid?!)

  11. 11 GEAGLE said at 11:14 AM on November 23rd, 2014:

It’s 11:15am. Anyone watching TV turn on fox sports1. Aft commercial Donovan is going to tell everyone why the Cowboys will win the division…?Clown

Would it be theoretically possible to build a field made of paper to properly answer the question?

  13. 13 Dragon_Eagle said at 12:02 PM on November 23rd, 2014:

I would think you could build multiple stadiums from recycled Sports Illustrated NFL Season Previews over the last decade or so.

The way some of our guys were playing last week, it reminded me of the paper-lined boxes from pet shops.

  18. 18 Corry said at 12:33 PM on November 23rd, 2014:

I’m looking forward to the game. Weeks after a loss suck…weeks after a blowout loss are pretty much unbearable.

Feels like we had our bye week. Ready to have this feeling be over and get back to winning games.

Trent Geen and Greg Gumble will be the announcers for CBS today.
