  3. 3 SteveH said at 1:02 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Oh boy, we get Kenny Moose and Goose for the finale. Probably what we deserve for blowing the season.

  4. 4 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:03 PM on December 28th, 2014:

oh no. And we are further punished with Moose & Goose – worst announcing team in pro sports today. ugh.

  5. 5 A_T_G said at 1:04 PM on December 28th, 2014:

So, is there a clause anywhere that says shutting out a division rival twice trumps divisions records for playoff spots?

  6. 6 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:05 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Well I just wrote it down on my napkin in green ink. That counts.

  7. 7 Corry said at 1:07 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Not sure we need to worry about it now.

  8. 8 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:05 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    WTF?

  9. 9 Corry said at 1:05 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Allen pulled a fletcher and didn’t look for the ball.

  10. 10 Henly125 said at 1:05 PM on December 28th, 2014:

THAT just about sums up our season.

  11. 11 SteveH said at 1:06 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Looks like Allen let that go right by him lol.

  12. 12 SteveH said at 1:06 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Not bad coverage by Carroll but not quite good enough either.

  13. 13 Corry said at 1:06 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Good to see the D showed up for the game.

  14. 14 shah8 said at 1:07 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Watching Teddy is the easy decision here, but I see Eli already started smacking that defensive backfield…

Keeping a close eye on the box score…

  15. 15 Javi Echie said at 1:07 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Burnt toast 2.0?

  16. 16 Corry said at 1:08 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Nah, Carroll was at least in the same zip code.

  17. 17 Javi Echie said at 1:09 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I’m just already mad but you are right at least he was near him…I think settles down while the game continues

  18. 18 A_T_G said at 1:10 PM on December 28th, 2014:

So is Fletcher, though. That isn’t his problem. He just isn’t quite good enough.

  19. 19 SteveH said at 1:10 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Carroll was really close to breaking that up though, and you can tell he is faster than Fletcher.

  20. 20 A_T_G said at 1:11 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    I hope so.

  21. 21 BlindChow said at 1:11 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Fletcher is quite often two yards behind a receiver, desperately trying to catch up.

  22. 22 A_T_G said at 1:12 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I don’t know that comparing Randell to Bryant and jackson is a good comparison. Let’s give it a couple series.

  23. 23 Corry said at 1:15 PM on December 28th, 2014:

True, the competition Fletcher had was a bit better, but I reserve my right to continue to irrationally hate Toast Fletcher.

  24. 24 Corry said at 1:12 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I disagree….Fletcher is generally trailing by a couple yards.

  25. 25 SteveH said at 1:08 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Our DB’s must be the worst in the league at getting their heads around and looking for the ball. Imagine how many interceptions we’d have if they did that.

  26. 26 BlindChow said at 1:09 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Too bad they’re taught not to look for the ball.

  27. 27 jpate said at 1:09 PM on December 28th, 2014:

If every single DB is the culprit it looks like the coaching

  28. 28 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:11 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yes. There has to be communication letting them know ball is in the air. Why are they not getting their head around?

  29. 29 CASEY MATTHEWS said at 1:11 PM on December 28th, 2014:

This whole not looking for the ball is a terrible idea. There is a reason that it has been coached one way for decades.

  30. 30 BlindChow said at 1:13 PM on December 28th, 2014:

And you just know that won’t change this offseason.

  31. 31 George said at 1:12 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Can I be the first to start the “WE WANT REX!” chants?

  32. 32 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:13 PM on December 28th, 2014:

If by “we” you mean the Giants, be my guest.

  33. 33 George said at 1:14 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Would “FIRE BILLY” sound better to you

  34. 34 CASEY MATTHEWS said at 1:13 PM on December 28th, 2014:

At least the Offense looks like they came to play.

  35. 35 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:13 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Or neither Defense came to play.

  36. 36 Corry said at 1:13 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I am so excited by the potential Jordan Matthews has shown this year. He needs to work on those hands, but man, he could be special.

  37. 37 Mr. Toledo said at 4:57 PM on December 28th, 2014:

i wanna see him get his weight up to 220 or so. could be the next T.O with a work ethic

  38. 38 SteveH said at 1:15 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Was that Prosinksi? 42? I know it wasn’t Kurt Coleman lol.

  39. 39 Corry said at 1:16 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    42 is Maragos.

  40. 40 SteveH said at 1:16 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Figured it was one of the two of them.

  41. 41 Corry said at 1:16 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Prosinski is 31 I think.

  42. 42 Crus57 said at 1:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Prosinski is #33

  43. 43 livingonapear said at 1:17 PM on December 28th, 2014:

So did the Fox crew not get the new story notes or something? The Mark Sanchez rebirth story is played out, they’re working with last month’s script.

  44. 44 shah8 said at 1:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Oh god, Teddy is so worth it!

  45. 45 shah8 said at 1:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    oops, ball hit ground, nvm…

    See DJax did well, too…

  46. 46 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Which of our LBs just looked stupid?

  47. 47 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Seriously. You could see the call. Cover the back in the flat. He creeps up when the screen is obvious and then takes the wrong angle and gets washed out of the play. UGH!!!!

  48. 48 Corry said at 1:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    I hate Eli.

  49. 49 jpate said at 1:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

how is that not intentional grounding

  50. 50 BlindChow said at 1:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    ridiculous

  51. 51 Corry said at 1:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Because it was the Giants.

  52. 52 KAJomo said at 1:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

We must lead the league in blown IG calls

  53. 53 A_T_G said at 1:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I really hope IG is the new “point of emphasis” next year.

  54. 54 Crus57 said at 1:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Eli must be exempted from intentional grounding rules. Kempski mentions it often.

  55. 55 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:23 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Its Eli. So its never clear which player or team he is throwing to on any given play.

  56. 56 Crus57 said at 1:24 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I guess Eli gets let off because he’s already looking backwards when he lets it go, his patented chuck’n’duck

  57. 57 livingonapear said at 1:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

How many int grounding flags have refs stuffed this year? Seriously, people keep talking about the clutching and grabbing, but QBs have gotten away with so much against us w/ intentional grounding. Is this a league wide thing or is this like our false start tendencies, just a part of the team?

  58. 58 CASEY MATTHEWS said at 1:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

looks like cary disrupted ODB’s route pretty well there

  59. 59 Corry said at 1:25 PM on December 28th, 2014:

If sanchez was more accurate on that last throw, I think Cooper is still running.

  60. 60 jpate said at 1:25 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Maybe one day cooper will actually win a one on one matchup

  61. 61 Corry said at 1:25 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Looking at where the ball was thrown, I’m not sure that’s on Cooper. Camera angle could have been weird too.

  62. 62 jpate said at 1:26 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    yeah bad pass too

  63. 63 CASEY MATTHEWS said at 1:26 PM on December 28th, 2014:

looks like it was thrown behind cooper

  64. 64 SteveH said at 1:27 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Is anyone else annoyed that Sanchez FINALLY decided to keep it?

  65. 65 shah8 said at 1:27 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Last game he did a few times.

  66. 66 livingonapear said at 1:27 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    YES! Yes, yes, God yes!

  67. 67 Corry said at 1:27 PM on December 28th, 2014:

It’s like you can see it happeneing before Sanchez makes that decision.

  68. 68 SteveH said at 1:28 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yeah the last second heave down the field to avoid the sack never works out.

  69. 69 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:27 PM on December 28th, 2014:

PI on the other team?? No friggin’ way!!

  70. 70 jpate said at 1:27 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Saw that coming before it got there. Run the ball you idiots

  71. 71 Corry said at 1:28 PM on December 28th, 2014:

The Refs just bailed us out big time. I won’t complain about them anymore.

  72. 72 Corry said at 1:29 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Eh…very iffy call.

  73. 73 CASEY MATTHEWS said at 1:28 PM on December 28th, 2014:

what an idiotic decision. How do you decide to make that throw?

  74. 74 jpate said at 1:29 PM on December 28th, 2014:

what happened to being a running team?

  75. 75 Spooonius said at 1:33 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    thats a great question!

  76. 76 SteveH said at 1:29 PM on December 28th, 2014:

We must have paid the refs more that week, that was a terrible call haha.

  77. 77 A_T_G said at 1:29 PM on December 28th, 2014:

That was a poor decision for high school football.

  78. 78 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:29 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    POLK IT IN!!!

  79. 79 Corry said at 1:29 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Polk in the game.

  80. 80 CASEY MATTHEWS said at 1:30 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Noodle-arm Sanchez has under thrown both shots down the field today.

  81. 81 Corry said at 1:30 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Celek looked a bit hurt after that play.

  82. 82 livingonapear said at 1:30 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I love how they say that Sanchez’s throw in to double coverage was so different from Eli’s, as thoug hEli’s throws into double coverage are planned and not just as ill considered.

  83. 83 Corry said at 1:31 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    And usually just as underthrown.

  84. 84 A_T_G said at 1:32 PM on December 28th, 2014:

The biggest difference is that the same team caught both passes.

  85. 85 Corry said at 1:33 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Well that’s unfair too, because Eli gets to throw against our secondary.

  86. 86 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:34 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Which is exactly what makes throwing into double coverage by Eli less of a problem and point for criticism.

  87. 87 GEAGLE said at 1:38 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Difference was Eli’s throw Wasnt effected by a hit.

  88. 88 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:35 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Who is the head coach of the Giants next year?

  89. 89 CASEY MATTHEWS said at 1:36 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I think ODB’s emergence saved a lot of jobs.

  90. 90 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:41 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Really? You think Coughlin is safe? I say he “leaves with honor” but NY needs a change.

  91. 91 GEAGLE said at 1:42 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Def safe

  92. 92 GEAGLE said at 1:36 PM on December 28th, 2014:

COUGHLIN survives like the cockroach he is. The red roach

  93. 93 GEAGLE said at 1:36 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Figure we are seeing beautifully executed offensive football now that it doesn’t matter. The blocking by the entire offense even the WR down field is awesome. jordan caught a TD and ran it in easy because Maclin blocked that mutt DRC
    ..
The play design, is really nice this week, great blocking execution in redzone
    ..
Sanchez finally decided to keep the ball and run, and open things up for the offense.
    ..
Nolan started shaky on first drive, Nate Allen is worthless even when in perfect position to double team.nolan will settle down and okay well today, I would assume

  94. 94 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:37 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Sorry, but the Giants D doesn’t look like its going at a 100% either.

  95. 95 GEAGLE said at 1:41 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Lack of effort is kind of like going 100% when you are a mutt like DRC. I couldn’t see well, but out of the corner of the screen it looked like he just stood there and let MACLIN block him, which is pretty ridiculous even for that sissies standards

  96. 96 A_T_G said at 1:37 PM on December 28th, 2014:

We are moving Williams with Beckham today.

  97. 97 Corry said at 1:38 PM on December 28th, 2014:

That was Carroll on Beckham that time.

  98. 98 A_T_G said at 1:40 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I’m watching online, my feed is behind. I was still talking about the quick pass and the out routes against Williams.

  99. 99 Corry said at 1:40 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Oh gotcha.

  100. 100 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:40 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Nolan Carroll +1

  101. 101 A_T_G said at 1:41 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    23 + 1 = 24. You want Fletcher back?

  102. 102 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:42 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Carroll can have Fletch’s number. No problem here.

  103. 103 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:42 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Fletch won’t be needing it.

  104. 104 GEAGLE said at 1:42 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Lol

  105. 105 GEAGLE said at 1:42 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Looks like he should be in the line of fire a lot today, nice to give him a good test

  106. 106 SteveH said at 1:41 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yeah good coverage by Carroll on Donnell there.

  107. 107 SteveH said at 1:43 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Chip looks like he’s got a 1000 yard stare going on there on the sidelines. Wonder what he is thinking.

  108. 108 GEAGLE said at 1:44 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Shady looks pretty friggin fast today

  109. 109 Corry said at 1:44 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Hey look, other people’s secondaries can have total breakdowns.

  110. 110 GEAGLE said at 1:53 PM on December 28th, 2014:

That’s just because they have a former eagle..drc

  111. 111 Corry said at 1:54 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Technically 2 former Eagles. Quinton Demps is out there too.

  112. 112 A_T_G said at 1:45 PM on December 28th, 2014:

In other news, Jackson and Dez have a combined 160 yards and 3 TDs already.

    And they aren’t playing us.

  113. 113 jpate said at 1:45 PM on December 28th, 2014:

What is that dumbass on sideline saying struggling to get a 1st down?

  114. 114 GEAGLE said at 1:45 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    terrible decision after terrible decision.

  117. 117 GEAGLE said at 1:46 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Bwahahaha Cheifs havent thrown a TD pass to a WR all year still, and BOWE fumbles it on the 1 yard line. Bwahahahahahahaha

  118. 118 A_T_G said at 1:46 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    That was another terrible decision.

  119. 119 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:46 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Yea!!!! No Fumble!!!!!

  120. 120 jpate said at 1:47 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  121. 121 GEAGLE said at 1:47 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yeah he lucky that was 3rd down

  122. 122 Corry said at 1:47 PM on December 28th, 2014:

looked like he came down hard on that arm.

  123. 123 GEAGLE said at 1:51 PM on December 28th, 2014:

The Pope is playing like he is a little tired of all the ODB talk

  124. 124 Corry said at 1:52 PM on December 28th, 2014:

…so…no one wanted to cover the TE?

  125. 125 Dragon_Eagle said at 1:52 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Why bother? Not like Eli could make that throw.

  126. 126 GEAGLE said at 1:52 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    He didnt want it anyway

  127. 127 BlindChow said at 1:52 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Kelly wouldn’t waste his time with a JAG

  130. 130 Corry said at 1:55 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Lane Johnson with the tackle on that screen to Maclin.

Shady looks quick and fast today,

  133. 133 GEAGLE said at 1:56 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Like to see Polk get some carries, or a screen pass. Like watching that kid run

  134. 134 Crus57 said at 1:57 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Would’ve been good to see him on 3rd and 3 at midfield, might’ve set up 4th and short if he wasn’t successful

  135. 135 GEAGLE said at 1:59 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yeah I need to start seeing Him more than just on goal line carries

  136. 136 Corry said at 1:58 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Boykin on the field. Almost had a pick.

  137. 137 GEAGLE said at 1:58 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Has anyone noticed Jaylen Watkins on the field? I would assume he is the dime corner today with Nolan outside….no?

And who is Couplin, who is on the innactive list?

  138. 138 Corry said at 1:59 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Watkins was on the field in their dime set. couplin was signed from Detroit(?) practice squad a few weeks ago.

They said all of the same stuff about Eli during the last game. He was starting to ‘figure out the new offense’ before that game too. Ha!

  143. 143 GEAGLE said at 2:02 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Eli has been allegedly “figuring out the offense” since september lol

  144. 144 GEAGLE said at 2:01 PM on December 28th, 2014:

ATleast we are getting to watch a fairly entertaining last game, that isnt being decided by penalties

  145. 145 CASEY MATTHEWS said at 2:01 PM on December 28th, 2014:

seems like Giants recievers/TE really want to lose this game

  146. 146 Corry said at 2:03 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Sanchez would like to as well.

  147. 147 ConcussedFB said at 2:03 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Nice throw, dick.

  148. 148 SteveH said at 2:03 PM on December 28th, 2014:

My god Sanchez, that should be his 2nd in the first 18 minutes.

  149. 149 jpate said at 2:03 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I can’t understand something must be mentally wrong with him.

  150. 150 SteveH said at 2:03 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Sanchez makes me nostalgic for Dick Foles.

  151. 151 GEAGLE said at 2:03 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Come sanchez dude. I liked the play action pass under center too, and this fool DOESNT even see the corner. Grrrrr

  152. 152 ACViking said at 2:03 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Please . . . stop playing Sanchez.

    What has he “earned” ?

  153. 153 SteveH said at 2:04 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Same with Fletcher, the whole earn your way onto the field stops meaning anything when people who are sucking all over the place are allowed to continue to hold their starting jobs. It’s hypocritical.

  154. 154 GEAGLE said at 2:08 PM on December 28th, 2014:

If sanchez is back as our backup next year, I will be happy that he got this game time.
    ..
If Barkley will be brought back next year, I prefer not seeing him now and letting him continue to develop behind closed doors..

But that’s just me….. NOTHNG to gain from playing a young player in one game.

  155. 155 SteveH said at 2:09 PM on December 28th, 2014:

You mean aside from real game experience in a low pressure situation for a guy who needs real game experience?

  156. 156 GEAGLE said at 2:14 PM on December 28th, 2014:

One game per year is worthless

  157. 157 Dragon_Eagle said at 2:04 PM on December 28th, 2014:

OK. That sucked. But I am, again, impressed with Jason Kelce making that hustle and tackle.

  158. 158 Spooonius said at 2:04 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Sure wish our dibs could catch

  159. 159 GEAGLE said at 2:04 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    And our DBs drop INTs

  160. 160 BlindChow said at 2:04 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Jenkins drops another one.

  161. 161 CASEY MATTHEWS said at 2:04 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    another terrible underthrow

  162. 162 Corry said at 2:04 PM on December 28th, 2014:

…hey, at least we had people around him. Baby steps.

  163. 163 mksp said at 2:05 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I don’t think I’ve ever disagreed with a Chip Kelly decision more than playing Sanchez this game.

WTF do we have to learn about him this game that we don’t already know?

  164. 164 BlindChow said at 2:05 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    How about all the passes?

  165. 165 GEAGLE said at 2:05 PM on December 28th, 2014:

How many INT’s would jenkins have if he didn’t drop so many this year?
    ..
ATleast he puts himself into position for them A!OT. Needs to spend offseason on JUG, and bet they start to pile up for him in the future

  166. 166 oreofestar said at 2:08 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    At least 8

  167. 167 GEAGLE said at 2:09 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Right, with ATleast 1 pick 6…

Hopefully he hits the Jugs because I can see him having a big INT total one of these years

  168. 168 Bob Brewer said at 2:11 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Wasn’t that the knock on him coming out of the Saints’ camp?

  169. 169 GEAGLE said at 2:14 PM on December 28th, 2014:

No, it wasn’t… the consensus was that he sucked and he would be a horribl signing… Shows what the consensus knows

  170. 170 Corry said at 2:06 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Watkins was on the field and on the outside.

  171. 171 Corry said at 2:08 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Is this the obligatory long drive down the field that Davis can’t figure out how to stop?

  172. 172 SteveH said at 2:08 PM on December 28th, 2014:

We aren’t as strong against the run today as we usually are. Wonder if it’s lack of motivation for our guys or maybe their OL is fired up.

  173. 173 Henly125 said at 2:08 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I’m enjoying watching ODB. He’s a special player

  174. 174 SteveH said at 2:10 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Eff that, good coverage by Boykin there!

  175. 175 GEAGLE said at 2:12 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Well said! Quick, short, and to the point. Elegant, yet understated, hint of sophistication

  176. 176 GEAGLE said at 2:11 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Nice Defense by Boykin.
    ..
I’m enjoying watching this special player much more now that the outcome DOESNT matter as much. Doubt I “enjoy” watching ODB when we play him in week 5 next year

  177. 177 Bob Brewer said at 2:12 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Boykin can’t play outside, he’s too short. Fletcher is better.

I’m more concerned about Chip and the talent evaluation than anything else with this franchise. Chip is not giving me a lot of reason to trust him on this.

  178. 178 Dragon_Eagle said at 2:13 PM on December 28th, 2014:

For all the screw ups that Huff has been this year, there is real explosive potential there. He just stops with the dumb rookie mistakes, he could be a real terror on offense.

  179. 179 Crus57 said at 2:14 PM on December 28th, 2014:

He already is a terror, to both teams

  180. 180 GEAGLE said at 2:15 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yup yup…. Much higher ceiling than I thought he had. Kid can certainly be dangerous

  181. 181 Ernie McCracken said at 2:15 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Pass short of the sticks…. shocker

  182. 182 jpate said at 2:15 PM on December 28th, 2014:

F dallas they are having one of those real memorable seasons

  183. 183 GEAGLE said at 2:16 PM on December 28th, 2014:

That will end with some botched FG hold in crunch time or some ridiculous choke job

  184. 184 Dragon_Eagle said at 2:16 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Sanchez >> Eli

  185. 185 GEAGLE said at 2:17 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I don’t know about that. Eli doesn’t have the arm limitatiojs that sanchez does

  186. 186 GEAGLE said at 2:17 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Their goes watkins

  187. 187 Henly125 said at 2:17 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Nowwwwwww you out in Watkins. Awesome.

  188. 188 GEAGLE said at 2:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    NICE HIT JENKINS!!!!

  189. 189 Corry said at 2:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    That’s a flag on Beckham! c’mon!

  190. 190 jpate said at 2:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Their offense is all high percentage throws. By that i mean passes 20 yards down the field

  191. 191 GEAGLE said at 2:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Where the duck is the flag?

  192. 192 SteveH said at 2:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Watkins had pretty good recovery speed there, just didn’t get his head around to break up the pass.

  193. 193 BlindChow said at 2:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Not interference because he had his head around for once.

  194. 194 GEAGLE said at 2:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Are you fuckin kidding me? You aren’t allowed to take your helmet off. WTF is going on

  195. 195 Dragon_Eagle said at 2:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Shut up Moose. He turned his head around and was playing the ball. No call.

  196. 196 Corry said at 2:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Moose is a fucking idiot.

  197. 197 SteveH said at 2:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Refs are mailing this one in.

  198. 198 GEAGLE said at 2:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Nolan could have intercepted that

  199. 199 mksp said at 2:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Ugh, c’mon Malcolm. Don’t get dirty.

  200. 200 Henly125 said at 2:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    This defense is a joke

  201. 201 jpate said at 2:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

these refs are the punch line

  202. 202 GEAGLE said at 2:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

How do you let him take his helmet off like that?

  203. 203 George said at 2:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

bc odb is the new glamour kid, and he can do no wrong

  204. 204 GEAGLE said at 2:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

jenkins… YOU CANT DO THAT! YOU are much too smart for that!!!

  205. 205 Henly125 said at 2:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Penalty after fuckin penalty

  206. 206 A_T_G said at 2:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

To be fair, he probably thought the refs went home.

  207. 207 SteveH said at 2:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Thank you Peirera, someone fucking understands why that wasn’t PI.

  208. 208 Henly125 said at 2:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Get shat on Cary lol

  209. 209 jpate said at 2:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

let both WRs go for 150 yards maybe that will wake this FO up

  210. 210 BlindChow said at 2:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    I wouldn’t bet on it.

  211. 211 GEAGLE said at 2:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  212. 212 KAJomo said at 2:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I dont see much differnce betwenn Cary, Caroll, or Watkins. They are all in the area, but don’t play the ball.

  213. 213 mksp said at 2:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Word. Go Giants. There should be no ambiguity with regard to the upgrades this team needs over the offseason.

  214. 214 Javi Echie said at 2:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

What a shocker the giants gameplan is to just take shots downfield regardless if the wideout is open or not

  215. 215 GEAGLE said at 2:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    He picked Nolan….

  216. 216 BlindChow said at 2:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

So what other teams should we be rooting for today for the Eagles to get the best draft position?

  217. 217 oreofestar said at 2:23 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Ravens, Texans, Dolphins

  218. 218 mksp said at 2:23 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Also Chiefs?

  219. 219 oreofestar said at 2:25 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Well if the Charger lose the Ravens could be in so that gets tricky

  220. 220 mksp said at 2:24 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    And Bills?

  221. 221 oreofestar said at 2:33 PM on December 28th, 2014:

No their strength of schedule is too low

  222. 222 GEAGLE said at 2:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  232. 232 Corry said at 2:24 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  233. 233 SteveH said at 2:24 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Jenkins probably should have had that one too lol. Our DBs are amazingly bad at catching stuff.

  234. 234 BlindChow said at 2:25 PM on December 28th, 2014:

That should be a point of emphasis next year. Jugs machine.

  235. 235 A_T_G said at 2:26 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  241. 241 BC1968 said at 2:29 PM on December 28th, 2014:

He did toss some balls 30 yards out of bounds a few times, there’s been pressure. The old, throw it, close your eyes and turn your back. Classic Eli.

  242. 242 jpate said at 2:27 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  243. 243 SteveH said at 2:28 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Shame we didn’t unleash him sooner. Guy is our X factor in the passing game.

  244. 244 jpate said at 2:30 PM on December 28th, 2014:

We really could be like the NO offense with weapons all around and center piece TE. Graham is better TE but could be close

  245. 245 Dragon_Eagle said at 2:28 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I know this is nitpicking all things considered, but ….

Sanchez makes a better throw there and Ertz is off to the races if hit in stride.

  246. 246 SteveH said at 2:29 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Wonder if that is what he was pissed about when he got up yapping.

  247. 247 Dragon_Eagle said at 2:29 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Nope, worse.

  252. 252 GEAGLE said at 2:31 PM on December 28th, 2014:

It’s actually a pretty entertains game, with its frustrating eagle moments of course

  253. 253 SteveH said at 2:29 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Like a hot dumpster fire of poo.

  254. 254 scratcherk said at 2:30 PM on December 28th, 2014:

seems like we lost the division when we lost to Dallas since they’re winning. I guess WAS did us a favor by beating us last week. Hope NYG does the same.

  255. 255 GEAGLE said at 2:31 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Malcolm Jenkins is the leader of this secondary, Nolan is a high character, hard working pro. Those two Veterans better step up the minute offseason training starts and they better ensure that DBs are fistfighting each other over who gets to use the jugs next offseason
    ..
I don’t know about Bradley, But Nolan and Jenkins will improve and put themselfes in position to make some plays in our future. Need to capitalize when we are in position for INTs… It has to improve

  256. 256 Spooonius said at 2:31 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Why all the passes? Just askin’

  257. 257 BlindChow said at 2:31 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Wow, Sanchez actually made a play.

  262. 262 scratcherk said at 2:31 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  266. 266 SteveH said at 2:33 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Stats won’t show it but Sanchez should have 2 interceptions right now, he got away with one on a garbage PI call.

DB’s have taken turns not making plays on the ball despite lots of opportunities.

  267. 267 ACViking said at 2:32 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  283. 283 SteveH said at 2:35 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Sanchez is a ticking turnover time Bomb…I don’t even know what crosses this dudes mind half the time. A veteran QB KILLING us because he FORCES EVERYTHING. Friggin selfish jerkoff tries to do too much, when a veteran QB should know the importance of punting and kicking field goals

Can’t bring him back on a 1yr deal because he will try to do too much and get his value up. If he is willing to accept his fate of being a backup, these next 3 years and stops forcing shit, I’d bring him back. You want find a much better backüp, so might as well keep the continuity and let him build Off this year if it’s possible
    ..

  309. 309 jpate said at 2:43 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I think this is just him. Trying to do much or not he just has a gap in his game. It’s just a matter of time before he screws up. I’d rather take a game manager, maybe Chip will be inclined to run it more

  310. 310 GEAGLE said at 2:51 PM on December 28th, 2014:

You could easily be right. However, I do believe that no matter how well or poorly we see him play this year, even a veteran should be better then what he was his first year in an offense, first 6 games playing with new teamates, if you give him some continuity… Even veterans can grow into schemes…

How much better can he be, if we let him build off this year is the question? Def not a starter, but can he grow into a capable Jeff Garcia type of short term backüp?

  323. 323 SteveH said at 2:40 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I think it’s hard at this point to make much of a case for Sanchez to be a good anything. There has to be some game manager out there that we can bring in, or for the love of god play Matt Barkley so we see what we have.

  324. 324 jpate said at 2:40 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  326. 326 GEAGLE said at 2:45 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  327. 327 Always Hopeful said at 2:51 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Put Barkley in, this is the perfect situation for him. It’s a meaningless game but both teams are playing hard, so its low pressure but real game experience, not just an end of the game drive against a prevent defense.

There’s nothing more we need to know about Sanchez and he’s done nothing to show that he has earned this backup spot.

I don’t know about that. I’d still take megatron

  416. 416 mksp said at 3:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

ODB has better hands and runs better routes.

    Megatron is more imposing physically.

    It’s close.

  417. 417 GEAGLE said at 3:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yeah well, Beckham is one of the most special offensive weapons to come into the league the past 5 years… I don’t even think ODB being more talemted is debatable. Pretty factual if you ask me.

    Trivia tidbit . . .

    2005 Draft.

Green Bay takes Rodgers w/ pick 24.

Pick 25? Washington selects QB Jason Campbell.

Didn’t GB trade back up for Rodgers?

  424. 424 ACViking said at 3:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    No. GB stood pat.

Washington actually traded up to get Campbell

  425. 425 Corry said at 3:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Ah OK. That’s a team with an excellent front office.

  426. 426 GEAGLE said at 3:23 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Funny how similar BRady Quinn’s night was to Aaron Rogers draft night experience. Two first round QB prospects that take drastic draft day Falls, Browns pick one, Green Bay Picks the other.. One amounted to noth ing, the other went on to be an MVP a type of QB

  427. 427 Dragon_Eagle said at 3:16 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Wow. Carroll was toast right from the snap. Not good.

  428. 428 SteveH said at 3:16 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  439. 439 mksp said at 3:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Bills could have stayed at 8 and drafted ODB.

Instead lose this years 1st to trade up for Watkins.

  440. 440 ACViking said at 3:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Did Beckham project to be THIS good, though?

I agree with you. But I’m just wondering if the projected distance between the two was greater than what we’ve seen.

  441. 441 SteveH said at 3:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I didn’t see any draft analyst put anyone in Watkins’ class, and most of them had Mike Evans as the clear #2. I don’t remember seeing anyone having ODB as higher than the #3, and lots had him back at 4th or 5th best.

  442. 442 ACViking said at 3:24 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Same impression.

Watkins actually has some catching up to do to catch Beckham.

But he sure has the tools.

  443. 443 GEAGLE said at 3:30 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yeah but the bills knew that… They went with the size and potential, over the smaller, can’t miss , NFL game ready stud… It’s not even fair to compare the two now, because ODB had so much more polish coming into the league… Doubt 3 years from now, either team will complain…
    .,
But the bills were pretty friggin dumb to pay what they did to ensure they got Sammy, when they could have stayed put and took which ever stud WR fell into their lap… Absurd that they traded. Away a first next year when you think about it…

  444. 444 mksp said at 3:25 PM on December 28th, 2014:

It’s hard for me to talk about without sounding like an asshole, bc he was easily my favorite WR in the draft.

His route running and hands are just so SPECIAL.

Watkins is more explosive and Evans has an amazing size/speed combination….but ODB is on another planet in terms of WR skills.

Besides that, there clearly wasn’t enough separation between those 3 guys to warrant trading a 1st round pick to move up 4 spots.

    That’s just dumb regardless.

  445. 445 GEAGLE said at 3:27 PM on December 28th, 2014:

He was as pretty can’t miss as you can get… One of the more polished route runners coming into gaheme league, great hands, who also light up the combine athletically… That practically “checks all the boxes”
    ..
You figure we picked 22, and WE HAD NO SHOT AT HIM… I’d call that pretty can’t miss…. I
    ….
It just happened to be a special WR class. He would be the 1st WR picked THIS year..l but last year, when there are similarly high rated prospects in this day an age, teams will almost always take the size and upside first…

It’s not like the Bucs and bills should be upset that they have sammy or Evans, Win, Win, Win for everyones except bills who were dumb to pay what they paid to get one

  450. 450 BobSmith77 said at 3:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Secondary is pitiful. Basically back to where they were at the end of the ’12 season and looking at a complete overhaul yet again.

Ideally Davis would be gone too. I have seen nothing that he has been able to make any kind of adjustments or get real improvements this year out of the offense.

  451. 451 Dragon_Eagle said at 3:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Nah. Jenkins is a keeper. The rest can be unceremoniously dumped.

  452. 452 BobSmith77 said at 3:23 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  455. 455 BobSmith77 said at 3:25 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Jenkins will be back because of his favorable contract but he has played like I thought he would much of the 2nd half. Stone hands/limited play-making with adequate play.

He is just an upgrade from last season because of how bad Chung and company were.

  456. 456 jpate said at 3:27 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  480. 480 GEAGLE said at 3:35 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Shame he got hurt near the combine, he was expected to really put on a show of speed… Guess it’s good for us.
    ..
Dude, every practice he takes reps at safety, slot corner and outside corner…for a rookie to have learned 3 positions to where he takes snaps at 3 different spots each and every high paced practce is friggin impressive intelligence….kid will def find his Niche somewhere in our secondary…. I would LOVE if he could Yoke up a bit and be Jenkins running mate at safety.l. Sit in base, watch Desean go in motion, don’t have to call a Time Out, just let either safety Jenkins or Watkins go man up against hm

  535. 535 Javi Echie said at 3:49 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Then Dez and DeSean, cb should absolutely be top priority.

  536. 536 Dragon_Eagle said at 3:50 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Dez, DJax, Beckham, Garcon, and Cruz coming back. Yep CB should be the priority.

  552. 552 SteveH said at 3:53 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Every time, when we do the 2nd and long run we never get shit. Every other team in the NFL will get 5-10.

  617. 617 ACViking said at 4:07 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    How, exactly?

Kelly decides on the game plan.

    Kelly calls the plays.

    Kelly decides on the players.

  618. 618 Avery Greene said at 4:09 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Kelly is still learning the pro game. He said he picked Shurmur because he’s been in the league for awhile and could help with his knowledge of the WC offense.

I figure the OC should help and give good input. Does he?

  619. 619 BlindChow said at 4:09 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Perhaps in play design. Definitely not the innovative stuff we saw early last year and at Oregon.

  620. 620 Henly125 said at 4:12 PM on December 28th, 2014:

No way. We haven’t even scratched the surface of chips offense. He keeps running the same plays. He’s saving the wrinkles for when he gets his QB.

  655. 655 BlindChow said at 4:16 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  658. 658 ACViking said at 4:17 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Apparently, these announcers haven’t reviewed the tape from the past 5-6 games.

Do they know the Eagles were 9-3?

And now they’re 10-6 and out of playoffs?

    HELLO!!!

  659. 659 ACViking said at 4:17 PM on December 28th, 2014:

This is not about 10-6 teams missing the playoffs.

It’s about 9-3 teams missing the playoffs.

  660. 660 BobSmith77 said at 4:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yeah especially watching the Boys utterly crush the hapless Skins this week.

  661. 661 ACViking said at 4:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Painful.

  662. 662 mksp said at 4:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Thank you.

We needed to beat a playoff team, be it DAL, GB, SEA, AZ or SF (not even).

    Not good enough.

  663. 663 jpate said at 4:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Just not our season. OL injuries, MLB injuries, QB injury, so many sloppy turnovers.

  664. 664 Dragon_Eagle said at 4:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Exactly. And here, I draw the ire of others, but I put this collapse on the coaching staff. No excuses for going 1-3 in December. Out coached, out played.

  665. 665 ACViking said at 4:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    no argument from me.

  666. 666 ACViking said at 4:23 PM on December 28th, 2014:

You never saw Reid — of whom I was no great fan — blunder that way.

  667. 667 unhinged said at 4:32 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yeah but…as MJ said, they were playing with fire all along. The 3 loss streak was not really a breakdown or a turnaround so much as same-shit-different-outcome.

  668. 668 ACViking said at 4:37 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Didn’t hear MJ say the Eagles had no right being 9-3 when they were 9-3.

  669. 669 unhinged said at 6:42 PM on December 28th, 2014:

well, you wouldn’t, but you did hear Kelly picking the wins apart and he said more than once that the turnovers will either go away or they will bite. The Eagles were in every game except at Lambeau, and they did a little bit better than break even. In EVERY loss, outside of Green Bay, they beat themselves, and you can blame Kelly or Davis or Fletcher or Sanchez, or the man on the moon, but the fact is the Eagles offense never developed the habit of minimizing errors.

  670. 670 GEAGLE said at 4:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

To have our season ended by that bum BOB Griffin is just despicable. ATleast dallas won today so it wouldn’t have mattered anyway.

Shame we have to watch a crap NFC south team in the playoffs,
    ,,,
Someone figure out our draft position

  671. 671 oreofestar said at 4:18 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  673. 673 oreofestar said at 4:20 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  674. 674 GEAGLE said at 4:22 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I know, I know….. Furthers we can trade up without paying too much is like #15
    ….
Tho, I wonder if Bill Obrien will want to draft the Penn state QB next year. If that’s desperately on their mind, someone can probably trade for their first round pick if you give them an extra first rounder next year

  694. 694 ACViking said at 4:21 PM on December 28th, 2014:

So when draft day comes, and the Eagles use a 3rd Rd pick to trade up 4 spots, Kelly can remind the media that he had to do it because the team finished 10-6 in 2014.

  695. 695 BobSmith77 said at 4:23 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Yeah. Winning today was pointless in every aspect including the lack of getting a look at younger players besides Watkins.

  696. 696 Sid said at 4:28 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Unless that trade gives the Eagles the ODB version of a cornerback then god please no

  697. 697 jpate said at 4:31 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Kelly demands a lot of his players and ending a season on a 4 game loosing streak could of caused some problems. So yeah we lost few spots but overall winning this game could go long way. And its not we are hitting gold on First round picks anyways

  698. 698 BlindChow said at 4:34 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    Not sure I’m following?

You mean, I’ll point out that Kelly gained nothing by winning a meaningless game?

    What’s the point?

    They won a meaningless game.

Whomever the Birds draft will have about a 58% chance of succeeding (other than QBs).

And if — like MSmith II — the Eagles 2015 1stRd pick does not start a single game, then the likelihood of the player actually becoming a starter in the NFL drops to about 6.5%

Agree. It is frustrating that a team with a losing record will go.in from the NFC South however. At the same time it is our fault and we have no right to bitch and complain. When you play sloppy football it catches up to you. We were 9-3 and due to our own errors we let it slip right out from under us. If we didnt play such sloppy ball in the begining of the season we could have very easily been 10-2, ssee ARZ and SanFran. You can bring up injuries, but the fact of the matter is we consistently shot ourselves in the foot.

  752. 752 mksp said at 4:40 PM on December 28th, 2014:

How hard is it to find a QB?

Case Keenum was a practice squader 2 weeks ago.

Today he put Houston in position to make the playoffs.

Granted, against JAX — which may be worse than Bucs.

But O’Brien went with Fitzpatrick, a solid, experienced QB — like Sanchez — instead of the gun-slinger with the weak arm.

Hard to find QBs in the NFL.

  756. 756 jpate said at 4:43 PM on December 28th, 2014:

I think when you then mention he played slot so he wasnt in on all snaps that even makes those numbers more impressive. Correct me if im wrong but all of the other rookie WR thatdidbig things this year played on the outside. Then consider he played with 2 QBs that have heavily struggled this year. Very impressive year from him. Would have been awsome if him, Shady, and Maclin eclipsed 1000 yards this year. A feat that is not done that often.

Question asked if ODB’s rookie year was the best . . .

I’d say if it’s not at the top of the class, won’t take long to call roll.

The other rookie WRs with numbers like ODB . . .

    Randy Moss in ’98: 16 games, 69 rec 1313 yards 17 TDs

    Anquan Boldin in ’03: 16 games, 103 rec 1377 yds 8 TDs.
    ___________

From another era (when DBs could hit WRs all over the field) . . .

    Bob Hayes ’68: 14 games, 46 rec 1003 yards, 12 TDs

  810. 810 oreofestar said at 5:15 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  815. 815 RobNE said at 5:12 PM on December 28th, 2014:

so we learned this year that ODB may be one of the top receivers in the league and will haunt us for years, Romo is actually quite good and we may not have QB answer on our team, Shady may need elite OL to be great. Our CB’s (and partly a safety problem) are god awful. I mean, I just felt closer to a SB at the end of last year than this year. I hope Foles just regressed b/c of the OL, but I don’t know.

I’m just down. And honestly I’d rather they lost today. They will inevitably be some prospect just out of our reach.

  816. 816 GEAGLE said at 5:19 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  820. 820 D3FB said at 5:40 PM on December 28th, 2014:

When did he have a healthy OL?

Johnson missed the first four games.

    Kelce went down week 3.

  821. 821 BlindChow said at 6:32 PM on December 28th, 2014:

They were healthy in the preseason. And before Mathis and Barbre went down in game one. Gardner was healthy and played fine at RT.

Foles looked terrified and indecisive from the get-go. That continued all year, even when there was no pressure.

  822. 822 D3FB said at 6:55 PM on December 28th, 2014:

48 attempts in the preseason. Real big sample size.

Gardner did not play well at RT. He started 2 games before they benched him.

Foles did struggle this season. But to say he did it behind anything other than a patchwork offensive line is disingenuous.

He sure as heck was better than Mark Sanchez.

  823. 823 BlindChow said at 3:03 PM on December 29th, 2014:

Foles struggled from the very beginning. His play didn’t suddenly decline when linemen started dropping, small sample size or no.

  824. 824 Michael Winter Cho said at 5:39 PM on December 28th, 2014:

You felt closer last year because _it was our year_! The NFL had not yet caught up to Chip’s system and we had great injury luck, and the teams we played had terrible injury luck. With a bit of fairy dust, we could have made a deep run. This year we were jinxed by too many guys out on offense and our running game was ineffective. Teams baited us into throwing 50 passes a game, but neither of the QBs were good enough to play that way. They also figured out how to attack our secondary. Chip and Davis need to aggressively counter these trends if we want to return to the playoffs.

  825. 825 GEAGLE said at 5:17 PM on December 28th, 2014:

In week 3 of our NFL season, we were already finishing a game down to 1 last starting offensive lineman. That’s crazy! That’s just one position…. I will say that not to many teams can play 15 different OL combinations, lose its defensive captain for half a season, lose its starting QB for half a season, and still manage to go 10-6…. That really doesn’t happen very often. This season sucks in so many ways, but one way it doesn’t suck is the bad luck we had, typically makes a team go 5-11, 6-10 at the most…. The Really good ones can perservere as much as we had to, to win 10 games in this mess of a season..l
    ..,
What really really sucks about this year? It’s going to be so damn hard to evaluate our offensive lineman, especially the young Backups.
    ..
We had a nice veteran line that had continuity playing with each other. I’d bet that if we lost 1 offensive lineman and do inserted one young back, and he stayed in there for 4-5 weeks we would see that we have some promising young backups on the Bench. For example, I like Tobin at Left Guard…the problem was he bose dived when Mathis came back and we asked to move him to the left side..
    ..
Not only were we having to play inexperienced backs, moving them around at different spots every week, but even the ones who got a little continuity, always ended up with someone different lining up next to them…. That’s impossible for an OL to work like that…. Continuity that develops Coehesion is so crucial for an OL… We had such an injury mess at OL, that we actually got to play all out backups, but we had to play them in such dysfunctional and impossible situations, that I dont even know how the hell are we going to accurately evaluate them?
    ,,
Normally a team with so many OL injuries like us, ATleast has the silver lining of getting to see what their young back ups on the bench looked like… But we were forced to give young OL so much playing time, but it was in such a dysfunctional injury ravaged mess of a situation, that I know less about our backups than I did before the season started…

  826. 826 RobNE said at 5:26 PM on December 28th, 2014:

but it was our DB’s that primarily cost us the playoffs. We had no injuries there.

  827. 827 GEAGLE said at 5:34 PM on December 28th, 2014:

Turnovers are why we aren’t in the playoffs, . But the strength of this team was built to be the offense,…the strength of your team can’t need the Defense and Special teams to bail it out as much as our ST and Defense had to this year..as bad as the Sevondary played down the stretch, if THIS YEARS Defense with this YEARS front 7, were playing with LAST YEARS OFFENSE, we would be contending.

So it’s not as simple as putting this season on one position group, plenty different things had a part in this dissapointing year…

If we face this time of injury curse next year, or the year after….I wouldn’t feel confident that we could overcome it better than we fought to do this year….I don’t know that we can ever have an entire starting caliber OL on our bench as backups, in case all the starters go down in week 3, and we finish the skins game with only todd Herremans, and he had to play Tacjle, not even his Guard spot..I don’t know if we can Ever have so much depth that we can do better than 10-6 against the injuries luck we had this year…

This year we were probably more injured than Andys 4-12 season…… Not many teams could have endured what we did to go 10-6

  828. 828 ACViking said at 5:47 PM on December 28th, 2014:

    I think 2012 was worse injury-wise.

Only 3 players started 16 games:

    Mathis, Ryans, Nnamdi.

    On the O-line . . .
    – Peters played 0 (hence, Demetrus Bell . . . ARG!)
    – Watkins split time at RG w/ Jake Scott.
    – Herremanns lasted 8 games at RT, then gave way to rookie Dennis Kelly
    – Kelce started 2 games at C, then Reynolds took over.

    Elsewhere . . .

    -DJax missed 4+ games.
    – McCoy missed 4+ games

    – Maclin 1+ game
    – Celek 2+ games
    – Vick missed at least 3 to injury (Addition by Subtraction?)

And Colt Anderson actually started at S in 4 games.

    2012 was a massacre.

  829. 829 SteveH said at 5:26 PM on December 28th, 2014:

On a completely unrelated note, it will be a complete joke if JJ Watt doesn’t win MVP this year. Finished with 20.5 sacks, Had a monster game on the last game of the year, including a safety late in the 4th quarter to help ice the game. Lead the league in almost every relevant defensive front 7 stat. Is probably the most unstoppable defensive player since… Reggie White? Bruce Smith? Lawrence Taylor?

If Rodgers or Brady wins it that is a complete injustice.

  835. 835 SteveH said at 5:32 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  838. 838 SteveH said at 5:30 PM on December 28th, 2014:

If you’re not going to give it to the player who has the best season you may as well just call it the most valuable quarterback award.

  839. 839 xeynon said at 5:41 PM on December 28th, 2014:

It stands for “most valuable player”. A good quarterback is inherently more valuable than any other asset in the game. If you want to rename it the “most outstanding player” or something like that, I’m fine with voting for Watt. But there’s no way a defensive lineman on a non-playoff team, no matter how dominant, deserves an award for value to the team over a great quarterback on a contender that’s only a contender because they have him.

  840. 840 ACViking said at 5:50 PM on December 28th, 2014:

  850. 850 ACViking said at 6:00 PM on December 28th, 2014:

After 2013, what did the Eagles think they had to upgrade?

WR? Very likely. DJax cut, Maclin stayed healthy, Matthews played the slot. Overall, plus or minus?

O-line? Needed depth. Didn’t get any in the draft.

Safety? For sure. Jenkins signed. Chung cut loose. Allen returned. Better.

CB? Did the Eagles not need any upgrade there after last year?

Rush OLB? Apparently Kelly thought so. He said as much, I think. Didn’t work out as planned.
    ____________

    2014?

    WR? Yes. Replace Cooper.

    O-line? Yes. Need depth. Again.

    Safety? Yes. Replace Allen.

CB? Yes. Replace Fletcher, at least.

Rush OLB? Yes. Still need someone younger the T-Cole.

And Kelly’s talked around the QB question. Foles is no sure thing, apparently, for Kelly.
    ____________

That’s a lot of positions that the Eagles — what did Lurie say? — “have to upgrade.”

And knowing is not the same as getting it done.
