Eagles at Gmen – 1st Half

Inactives:
Foles
Vandervelde
Kelly
Maehl
Hart
Couplin
Fletcher
Nolan Carroll gets the start at LCB. Curious to see how he does.
Let’s pound on Eli all day long.
Go Eagles!!!
_
Go Eagles…win…or something…
go eagles
Oh boy, we get Kenny Moose and Goose for the finale. Probably what we deserve for blowing the season.
oh no. And we are further punished with Moose & Goose – worst announcing team in pro sports today. ugh.
So, is there a clause anywhere that says shutting out a division rival twice trumps divisions records for playoff spots?
Well I just wrote it down on my napkin in green ink. That counts.
Not sure we need to worry about it now.
WTF?
Allen pulled a fletcher and didn’t look for the ball.
THAT just about sums up our season.
Looks like Allen let that go right by him lol.
Not bad coverage by Carroll but not quite good enough either.
Good to see the D showed up for the game.
Watching Teddy is the easy decision here, but I see Eli already started smacking that defensive backfield…
Keeping a close eye on the box score…
Burnt toast 2.0?
Nah, Carroll was at least in the same zip code.
I’m just already mad but you are right at least he was near him…I think settles down while the game continues
So is Fletcher, though. That isn’t his problem. He just isn’t quite good enough.
Carroll was really close to breaking that up though, and you can tell he is faster than Fletcher.
I hope so.
Fletcher is quite often two yards behind a receiver, desperately trying to catch up.
I don’t know that comparing Randell to Bryant and jackson is a good comparison. Let’s give it a couple series.
True, the competition Fletcher had was a bit better, but I reserve my right to continue to irrationally hate Toast Fletcher.
I disagree….Fletcher is generally trailing by a couple yards.
Our DB’s must be the worst in the league at getting their heads around and looking for the ball. Imagine how many interceptions we’d have if they did that.
Too bad they’re taught not to look for the ball.
If every single DB is the culprit it looks like the coaching
Yes. There has to be communication letting them know ball is in the air. Why are they not getting their head around?
This whole not looking for the ball is a terrible idea. There is a reason that it has been coached one way for decades.
And you just know that won’t change this offseason.
Can I be the first to start the “WE WANT REX!” chants?
If by “we” you mean the Giants, be my guest.
Would “FIRE BILLY” sound better to you
At least the Offense looks like they came to play.
Or neither Defense came to play.
I am so excited by the potential Jordan Matthews has shown this year. He needs to work on those hands, but man, he could be special.
i wanna see him get his weight up to 220 or so. could be the next T.O with a work ethic
Was that Prosinksi? 42? I know it wasn’t Kurt Coleman lol.
42 is Maragos.
Figured it was one of the two of them.
Prosinski is 31 I think.
http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/team/roster.html?sort_by=2
Prosinski is #33
So did the Fox crew not get the new story notes or something? The Mark Sanchez rebirth story is played out, they’re working with last month’s script.
Oh god, Teddy is so worth it!
oops, ball hit ground, nvm…
See DJax did well, too…
Which of our LBs just looked stupid?
Seriously. You could see the call. Cover the back in the flat. He creeps up when the screen is obvious and then takes the wrong angle and gets washed out of the play. UGH!!!!
I hate Eli.
how is that not intentional grounding
ridiculous
Because it was the Giants.
We must lead the league in blown IG calls
I really hope IG is the new “point of emphasis” next year.
Eli must be exempted from intentional grounding rules. Kempski mentions it often.
Its Eli. So its never clear which player or team he is throwing to on any given play.
I guess Eli gets let off because he’s already looking backwards when he lets it go, his patented chuck’n’duck
How many int grounding flags have refs stuffed this year? Seriously, people keep talking about the clutching and grabbing, but QBs have gotten away with so much against us w/ intentional grounding. Is this a league wide thing or is this like our false start tendencies, just a part of the team?
looks like cary disrupted ODB’s route pretty well there
If sanchez was more accurate on that last throw, I think Cooper is still running.
Maybe one day cooper will actually win a one on one matchup
Looking at where the ball was thrown, I’m not sure that’s on Cooper. Camera angle could have been weird too.
yeah bad pass too
looks like it was thrown behind cooper
Is anyone else annoyed that Sanchez FINALLY decided to keep it?
Last game he did a few times.
YES! Yes, yes, God yes!
It’s like you can see it happeneing before Sanchez makes that decision.
Yeah the last second heave down the field to avoid the sack never works out.
PI on the other team?? No friggin’ way!!
Saw that coming before it got there. Run the ball you idiots
The Refs just bailed us out big time. I won’t complain about them anymore.
Eh…very iffy call.
what an idiotic decision. How do you decide to make that throw?
what happened to being a running team?
thats a great question!
We must have paid the refs more that week, that was a terrible call haha.
That was a poor decision for high school football.
POLK IT IN!!!
Polk in the game.
Noodle-arm Sanchez has under thrown both shots down the field today.
Celek looked a bit hurt after that play.
I love how they say that Sanchez’s throw in to double coverage was so different from Eli’s, as thoug hEli’s throws into double coverage are planned and not just as ill considered.
And usually just as underthrown.
The biggest difference is that the same team caught both passes.
Well that’s unfair too, because Eli gets to throw against our secondary.
Which is exactly what makes throwing into double coverage by Eli less of a problem and point for criticism.
Difference was Eli’s throw Wasnt effected by a hit.
Who is the head coach of the Giants next year?
I think ODB’s emergence saved a lot of jobs.
Really? You think Coughlin is safe? I say he “leaves with honor” but NY needs a change.
Def safe
COUGHLIN survives like the cockroach he is. The red roach
Figure we are seeing beautifully executed offensive football now that it doesn’t matter. The blocking by the entire offense even the WR down field is awesome. jordan caught a TD and ran it in easy because Maclin blocked that mutt DRC
..
The play design, is really nice this week, great blocking execution in redzone
..
Sanchez finally decided to keep the ball and run, and open things up for the offense.
..
Nolan started shaky on first drive, Nate Allen is worthless even when in perfect position to double team.nolan will settle down and okay well today, I would assume
Sorry, but the Giants D doesn’t look like its going at a 100% either.
Lack of effort is kind of like going 100% when you are a mutt like DRC. I couldn’t see well, but out of the corner of the screen it looked like he just stood there and let MACLIN block him, which is pretty ridiculous even for that sissies standards
We are moving Williams with Beckham today.
That was Carroll on Beckham that time.
I’m watching online, my feed is behind. I was still talking about the quick pass and the out routes against Williams.
Oh gotcha.
Nolan Carroll +1
23 + 1 = 24. You want Fletcher back?
Carroll can have Fletch’s number. No problem here.
Fletch won’t be needing it.
Lol
Looks like he should be in the line of fire a lot today, nice to give him a good test
Yeah good coverage by Carroll on Donnell there.
Chip looks like he’s got a 1000 yard stare going on there on the sidelines. Wonder what he is thinking.
Shady looks pretty friggin fast today
Hey look, other people’s secondaries can have total breakdowns.
That’s just because they have a former eagle..drc
Technically 2 former Eagles. Quinton Demps is out there too.
In other news, Jackson and Dez have a combined 160 yards and 3 TDs already.
And they aren’t playing us.
What is that dumbass on sideline saying struggling to get a 1st down?
“IL PAPA”….. The pope
Aaaand 3rd false start. WTF?
terrible decision after terrible decision.
Bwahahaha Cheifs havent thrown a TD pass to a WR all year still, and BOWE fumbles it on the 1 yard line. Bwahahahahahahaha
That was another terrible decision.
Yea!!!! No Fumble!!!!!
Sanchez looks hurt
Yeah he lucky that was 3rd down
looked like he came down hard on that arm.
The Pope is playing like he is a little tired of all the ODB talk
…so…no one wanted to cover the TE?
Why bother? Not like Eli could make that throw.
He didnt want it anyway
Who was the Giant who was talking to Kelly before the commercial??
DeOssie
He’s a great special teams guy — long snapper.
Kelly wouldn’t waste his time with a JAG
Lane Johnson with the tackle on that screen to Maclin.
Celek Was wiiiiiiiiide open
Shady looks quick and fast today,
Like to see Polk get some carries, or a screen pass. Like watching that kid run
Would’ve been good to see him on 3rd and 3 at midfield, might’ve set up 4th and short if he wasn’t successful
Yeah I need to start seeing Him more than just on goal line carries
Boykin on the field. Almost had a pick.
Has anyone noticed Jaylen Watkins on the field? I would assume he is the dime corner today with Nolan outside….no?
…
And who is Couplin, who is on the innactive list?
Watkins was on the field in their dime set. couplin was signed from Detroit(?) practice squad a few weeks ago.
Position?
..
Thanks
Safety.
That’s right, the tall Saftey..my bad. Thanks
They said all of the same stuff about Eli during the last game. He was starting to ‘figure out the new offense’ before that game too. Ha!
Eli has been allegedly “figuring out the offense” since september lol
ATleast we are getting to watch a fairly entertaining last game, that isnt being decided by penalties
seems like Giants recievers/TE really want to lose this game
Sanchez would like to as well.
Nice throw, dick.
My god Sanchez, that should be his 2nd in the first 18 minutes.
I can’t understand something must be mentally wrong with him.
Sanchez makes me nostalgic for Dick Foles.
Come sanchez dude. I liked the play action pass under center too, and this fool DOESNT even see the corner. Grrrrr
Please . . . stop playing Sanchez.
What has he “earned” ?
Same with Fletcher, the whole earn your way onto the field stops meaning anything when people who are sucking all over the place are allowed to continue to hold their starting jobs. It’s hypocritical.
If sanchez is back as our backup next year, I will be happy that he got this game time.
..
If Barkley will be brought back next year, I prefer not seeing him now and letting him continue to develop behind closed doors..
…
But that’s just me….. NOTHNG to gain from playing a young player in one game.
You mean aside from real game experience in a low pressure situation for a guy who needs real game experience?
One game per year is worthless
OK. That sucked. But I am, again, impressed with Jason Kelce making that hustle and tackle.
Sure wish our dibs could catch
And our DBs drop INTs
Jenkins drops another one.
another terrible underthrow
…hey, at least we had people around him. Baby steps.
I don’t think I’ve ever disagreed with a Chip Kelly decision more than playing Sanchez this game.
WTF do we have to learn about him this game that we don’t already know?
How about all the passes?
How many INT’s would jenkins have if he didn’t drop so many this year?
..
ATleast he puts himself into position for them A!OT. Needs to spend offseason on JUG, and bet they start to pile up for him in the future
At least 8
Right, with ATleast 1 pick 6…
…
Hopefully he hits the Jugs because I can see him having a big INT total one of these years
Wasn’t that the knock on him coming out of the Saints’ camp?
No, it wasn’t… the consensus was that he sucked and he would be a horribl signing… Shows what the consensus knows
Watkins was on the field and on the outside.
Is this the obligatory long drive down the field that Davis can’t figure out how to stop?
We aren’t as strong against the run today as we usually are. Wonder if it’s lack of motivation for our guys or maybe their OL is fired up.
I’m enjoying watching ODB. He’s a special player
Eff that, good coverage by Boykin there!
Well said! Quick, short, and to the point. Elegant, yet understated, hint of sophistication
Nice Defense by Boykin.
..
I’m enjoying watching this special player much more now that the outcome DOESNT matter as much. Doubt I “enjoy” watching ODB when we play him in week 5 next year
Boykin can’t play outside, he’s too short. Fletcher is better.
I’m more concerned about Chip and the talent evaluation than anything else with this franchise. Chip is not giving me a lot of reason to trust him on this.
For all the screw ups that Huff has been this year, there is real explosive potential there. He just stops with the dumb rookie mistakes, he could be a real terror on offense.
He already is a terror, to both teams
Yup yup…. Much higher ceiling than I thought he had. Kid can certainly be dangerous
Pass short of the sticks…. shocker
F dallas they are having one of those real memorable seasons
That will end with some botched FG hold in crunch time or some ridiculous choke job
Sanchez >> Eli
I don’t know about that. Eli doesn’t have the arm limitatiojs that sanchez does
Their goes watkins
Nowwwwwww you out in Watkins. Awesome.
NICE HIT JENKINS!!!!
That’s a flag on Beckham! c’mon!
Their offense is all high percentage throws. By that i mean passes 20 yards down the field
Where the duck is the flag?
Watkins had pretty good recovery speed there, just didn’t get his head around to break up the pass.
Not interference because he had his head around for once.
Are you fuckin kidding me? You aren’t allowed to take your helmet off. WTF is going on
Shut up Moose. He turned his head around and was playing the ball. No call.
Moose is a fucking idiot.
Refs are mailing this one in.
Nolan could have intercepted that
Ugh, c’mon Malcolm. Don’t get dirty.
This defense is a joke
these refs are the punch line
How do you let him take his helmet off like that?
bc odb is the new glamour kid, and he can do no wrong
jenkins… YOU CANT DO THAT! YOU are much too smart for that!!!
Penalty after fuckin penalty
To be fair, he probably thought the refs went home.
Thank you Peirera, someone fucking understands why that wasn’t PI.
Get shat on Cary lol
let both WRs go for 150 yards maybe that will wake this FO up
I wouldn’t bet on it.
NIce D
I dont see much differnce betwenn Cary, Caroll, or Watkins. They are all in the area, but don’t play the ball.
Word. Go Giants. There should be no ambiguity with regard to the upgrades this team needs over the offseason.
What a shocker the giants gameplan is to just take shots downfield regardless if the wideout is open or not
He picked Nolan….
So what other teams should we be rooting for today for the Eagles to get the best draft position?
Ravens, Texans, Dolphins
Also Chiefs?
Well if the Charger lose the Ravens could be in so that gets tricky
And Bills?
No their strength of schedule is too low
Good fucking call ref
lol, what the hell Cary.
…really?
I can’t watch this Cary dude anymore.
stone hands
Hands like a frying pan
Wow. In a bad way.
Gaddamit!!!!!! Why do I still care????? Catch the int!!!!!!!
cary’s hands are lubed up more than the ref when coughlin stuck him
What a dope
C’MON YOU CAN’T KEEP GETTING YOUR FUCKING HANDS ON THE PASSES AND NOT COMING AWAY WITH PICKS!!!!! IT’S ELI MANNNING GODDAMMIT!!
Jenkins probably should have had that one too lol. Our DBs are amazingly bad at catching stuff.
That should be a point of emphasis next year. Jugs machine.
Training camp should have so many Jugs it will look like a Hooters.
Smoothies delivered by Jugs machine
Fixed:
Jenkins probably should have had that one too lol. Our DBs are amazingly bad.
Amazingly bad!
30 passes by INT Manning, 0 sacks, 0 ints.
Not even close to a sack . Close to several ints
He did toss some balls 30 yards out of bounds a few times, there’s been pressure. The old, throw it, close your eyes and turn your back. Classic Eli.
I don’t think there is anyone in the division that can cover ertz. Maybe Lee when’s back
Shame we didn’t unleash him sooner. Guy is our X factor in the passing game.
We really could be like the NO offense with weapons all around and center piece TE. Graham is better TE but could be close
I know this is nitpicking all things considered, but ….
Sanchez makes a better throw there and Ertz is off to the races if hit in stride.
Wonder if that is what he was pissed about when he got up yapping.
Same here, but I’m guessing it was more of a get the team fired up yell.
just got home. how’s the game looking?
get back in the car
lol, that good eh?
Nope, worse.
It’s actually a pretty entertains game, with its frustrating eagle moments of course
Like a hot dumpster fire of poo.
seems like we lost the division when we lost to Dallas since they’re winning. I guess WAS did us a favor by beating us last week. Hope NYG does the same.
Malcolm Jenkins is the leader of this secondary, Nolan is a high character, hard working pro. Those two Veterans better step up the minute offseason training starts and they better ensure that DBs are fistfighting each other over who gets to use the jugs next offseason
..
I don’t know about Bradley, But Nolan and Jenkins will improve and put themselfes in position to make some plays in our future. Need to capitalize when we are in position for INTs… It has to improve
Why all the passes? Just askin’
Remember when he didn’t hold onto the ball forever?
Andy Reid is guest play-calling again.
Yeah, ck is definitely giving me deja vu
The Eagles and Giants apparently are pretty well matched.
That’s not a good thing
Wow, Sanchez actually made a play.
who’s playing worse, offense or defense? or combo?
rough game for the DB’s, Sanchez.
sanchez
Offense looked competent at first.
Stats won’t show it but Sanchez should have 2 interceptions right now, he got away with one on a garbage PI call.
DB’s have taken turns not making plays on the ball despite lots of opportunities.
JPeters’ last 4 games have seen a big drop
He is battling through A lot
Is he banged up?
Yeah, I hear he is really banged up, like various different bumps and bruises he has been warrioring thru
oh for god’s sake
but he made the pro bowl! (rolls eyes)
Was that Huff who had the big 3rd down catch?
Maclin.
Thanks
Ertz, ertz, ertz
A chip on JPeters’ side.
Never saw that before
He got hurt earlier this series but didn’t come out
Thx
Haha, Sanchez.
I’m starting to think this Sanchez guy might not be that good
Nice work not running out of bounds Coop. Way to go.
Still had 2 timeouts and only 12 seconds left, worth it to try and fight for the endzone in that situation.
Is it Nolan and Cary starting on outside?
Yes
So Nolan’s sucking?
He’s not been terrible so far, not great either
better than fletcher?
Hell yeah
He’s usually in the same closeup of the ball being caught as the receiver, and often a fingertip away from touching the ball, so yes.. so far.
it helps that Eli has made Sanchez look like an All-Pro.
We dropped like 6 easy INTs between Jenkns, Carrol and Cary..
.
Jenkins flying around doing well, corners aren’t doing too bad….nate is worthless as usual
with little watkins mixed in
Ertz was going one way, and Sanchez decided to go a different direction.
Just imagine if we had a QB who could consistently hit wide open receivers
Just imagine if we had a QB who could consistently FIND THE wide open receivers
Wow Andy Reid time management!
Apparently, mathis and Johnson were slow to get up.
Why didn’t Cooper go out of bounds?
Long hair. Grew up in Florida.
Good outfielder.
With 2 timeouts and that little time left, I didn’t mind it. Maybe he makes the guy miss. It could happen…
2 timeouts and almost no time on the clock, I think it was the right decision to try and score.
My favorite part of that last near interception was how open Mathews was on the sideline, like 10 yards from where he threw it. His field vision is just terrible.
He misses so many open recievers
Sanchez is a ticking turnover time Bomb…I don’t even know what crosses this dudes mind half the time. A veteran QB KILLING us because he FORCES EVERYTHING. Friggin selfish jerkoff tries to do too much, when a veteran QB should know the importance of punting and kicking field goals
I wish they don’t bring him back. Rather take a look at Bradford as back up
St Louis actually wants Bradford back, I would take Sanchez as a backup. But on to his performance, he holds the ball way too long and takes way too many sacks he should know to throw it away.
Bring him back, if he commits to like a 2-3yr deal as a backup.l
..
Can’t bring him back on a 1yr deal because he will try to do too much and get his value up. If he is willing to accept his fate of being a backup, these next 3 years and stops forcing shit, I’d bring him back. You want find a much better backüp, so might as well keep the continuity and let him build Off this year if it’s possible
..
I think this is just him. Trying to do much or not he just has a gap in his game. It’s just a matter of time before he screws up. I’d rather take a game manager, maybe Chip will be inclined to run it more
You could easily be right. However, I do believe that no matter how well or poorly we see him play this year, even a veteran should be better then what he was his first year in an offense, first 6 games playing with new teamates, if you give him some continuity… Even veterans can grow into schemes…
…
How much better can he be, if we let him build off this year is the question? Def not a starter, but can he grow into a capable Jeff Garcia type of short term backüp?
Pi. McClain held his hands down
Only after he hit him after 5 yards.
Wow guess linebackers don’t have to turn their heads around
Sproles should of caught that
Remind me never to have high expectations for an Eagles team again.
1981 Eagles . . .
Started 6-0.
Fell apart as the season went on.
Got old all at once, it seems.
Still made the playoffs — but Wally Henry lefts his hands in the locker room and muffed two KOs by the goal line.
He muffed 2 ko’s in the same game? That’s incredible.
HORRIBLE NIGHT MARE!!!
That really happened.
I kind of want to see that haha. How does that happen?
The “got old at once” part is seemingly rhyming with regard to the current vintage offensive line….
What exactly is the argument for Sanchez as a “good backup” — if he has to actually play 4-5 games against GOOD teams?
(Ryan Fitzpatrick’s pretty good against the Titans, for the sake of comparison.)
I think it’s hard at this point to make much of a case for Sanchez to be a good anything. There has to be some game manager out there that we can bring in, or for the love of god play Matt Barkley so we see what we have.
Agreed. Watching him play is like walking through a mine field you are just waiting for something to go wrong. I don’t wanna watch meaningful games like that
What a spot on analogy. I don’t trust him with the ball in his hands. Yet Chip keeps calling passes. I’m sure there are plays to be had, but Sanchez is just too erratic.
I wonder if he is trying to do too much to try and get his value up and play his way into a job next year, which can be corrected if you reign him in, give him some security. Is he capable of being more priudent? Or is this just who he is, and it has nothing to do with him trying to do too much because of his uncertain future next year?
I’m convinced it’s who he is. No shame in that, but not somebody you want to lead your team.
Lack of motivation means he won’t be causing distractions by fighting for the starting gig?
He has a winning smile
Given the dregs that make up the #2 QB club in the league, Sanchez isn’t terrible in comparison. I think expectations for anyone with the “former first round pick” label is generally high. I know I expected a lot, but given the way he exited NY, I’m not sure that we should have expected so much.
GE:
Sanchez . . . “ticking turnover time Bomb”
_____
Well done.
Whats the consensus? Rooting for win or loss?
LOSS.
They don’t deserve the moral victory. Plus draft position…
Win, always.
I guess win, but I can’t get heartbroken over a loss.
While I watch the game, I root for the Eagles, because I don’t know how to not care… But at commercials and breaks, I really don’t care much whether we are winning or losing.,. But while they play, I can’t help but want to smash giamts
Win, can’t bring myself to go otherwise. If the #1 pick overall were on the line maybe I’d hope they’d pull a 76er.
Gotta beat the G-men.
I want to loose but when game goes on I can’t help but root for win. Win-win here I guess
Put Barkley in, this is the perfect situation for him. It’s a meaningless game but both teams are playing hard, so its low pressure but real game experience, not just an end of the game drive against a prevent defense.
There’s nothing more we need to know about Sanchez and he’s done nothing to show that he has earned this backup spot.
But what would Barkley doing well prove?
That he’s better than Sanchez?
Why would the Eagles staff want to find that out?
Maybe they are secretly contemplating bringing Sanchez back next year and this would change their mind.
Ohhhh I just got what you were saying. How very clever in a lawyerly way of you :p.
Cowboys out there flying around like a real football team. This season is just brutal.
Think of it this way – this is how Cowboys fans have felt for the last 5 years. For us, its just this one year. We’ll be back atop next year – guaran-f**king-teed.
who knows, maybe Jerrah will enjoy the taste of success and learn to stay out of hte way of football decisions.
Their success was all his doing, of course.
He’ll somehow screw up the dez and demarco contracts
DEZ contract and Demarcos to deal with in same offseason. Danger, danger, danger,l. They better tie jerry up and lock him in a closet til july
… Nah.
We need a proven backup QB next year. I liked the boom or bust approach with sanchez but i think that backfired. hindsight is 20/20.
He’s fine as a back-up…
…as long as the starter never gets hurt.
He’s fine for a couple games.
Name 5 back-ups you’d rather have? Every single one of them is flawed.
Let me get back to you on that I bet I could find 5 haha.
Jeff Garcia?
At this point, Brad Smith, Lane Johnson, and Marcus Smith all make the list.
Tommy too depressed by the game to start the 2nd half thread? Don’t blame him.
Go for it! Do something exciting!
Mathis and Kelce need to do better on 3rd vs. Hankins
When our run game is off its worse then the jaguars. Could it be because we only run like 3 plays there is no element of surprise?
I think those stupid stretch runs to the outside we ran all year probaby skew our average way down.
Donnie Longballs pretty good punt there.
Cox just toys with teams. He is such a stud
Right on cue. Cox blew that up with ease.
Looked like he wasn’t even trying
He wins on like 85% of run plays, it’s crazy
Jaylen Watkins pretty close coverage there. Was in position to stop that short of the sticks. I like his speed, he looks fast out there.
Goddammit.
BEST SPECIAL TEAMS EVER!!!
Could that be a worse camera angle?
Haha yeah I had no idea what was going on there.
No.
Trey Burton and James Casey are fucking BALLERS, and people complain that Marcus Smith ISNT playong special teams? Get a clue
C’mon Fox. You couldn’t give us a better camera angle?
So how did Belichick steal the Steelers’ OFFENSIVE plays in the 2004 — given that the plays were radioed in to the QBs’ helmet?
I think the accusation is that they were taping teams walkthroughs the day before the game, so they were extra prepared for what plays the team was planning to run out of what formation, etc.
Don’t know if that’s valid or just sour grapes, but its something I’ve heard a few different times.
what is the record for punt blocks in a season?
NEED a FG block!!!!
FG block for a td would give us the record for scoring every way possible if I’m not mistaken
Yup…sort of like our make believe Tripple crown of special teams, losers like us who don’t make the playoffs, have to get excited about lol
lol you’re absolutely right brotha
Holy ahit, Fipps eyes just death stared me through the TV
haha crazy eyes Fipp looks intense on the sideline, love that he’s still engaged.
Wow, first block punt on Weatherford EVER.
Hate the camera angle used on punts by the networks.
very hard to get any depth perception.
And they said those special teams td’s were just luck….get a clue, it’s part of the game.
James Casey with the blocked punt then good coverage down field on the next kickoff.
Casey Matthews missed tackle.
Why would anyone hold it against Marcus Smith that he isn’t playing on special teams ahead of Beaman, Burton and Casey?
Edit Casey
I wish they put him in plays like this 3rd and long and let him rush
Who you going to take out? Rather see Barwin,COle,BG,Curry right now…no?
..
Marcus smiths time will come…
I’d take out cole. He’s hurt anyways. His time will come but game time experience can only help
Personally, I cant vote to take out COle when this could be his last game as an eagle…
NOBODY cares about him playing on Special Teams or not. Quit it with the straw men.
Haha, they got the first shove and didn’t do offsetting, like that.
Keep that head up, Rook.
Sproles has to be smartr than that…playing with fire right there
I kind of like this Watkins kid, he looks fast out there, looks the part.
Oh Jaylen will def grow into some type of niche in this secondaryl.. Just not sure what capacity yet
Coop with separation? WTH?
Jason Peters extension is going to be really questionable in a year or two.
JPP beating Peters like a drum today. Little concerning.
The look on Sproles face: “Dude, wtf?”
That pick would make for a perfect caption contest
Someone needs to tell Sanchez he shouldn’t actually throw it where he is pointing.
Lol as if Pope Jordan isn’t driven enough on his own. Our Rivals, a few hours down then old have a rookie WR that the entire world Raves about… Jordan is going to get so sick of hearing about Beckam it could end up pushing Pope jordan to an insane level. By the end of next year, Jordan will despise ODB lol
Five years from now, Beckham will still be the better player . . . and by a lot.
Just my impression from what I’ve seen.
Depends on who his QB is, on both sides
No it doesn’t.
Larry Fitzgerald would like a word with you
Fitzgerald is still considered a great WR.
Its not even close.
Beckham is more naturally talented and looks like he’s got good work ethics too.
He’s more naturally talented than just about every WR in the league.
I don’t know about that. I’d still take megatron
ODB has better hands and runs better routes.
Megatron is more imposing physically.
It’s close.
Yeah well, Beckham is one of the most special offensive weapons to come into the league the past 5 years… I don’t even think ODB being more talemted is debatable. Pretty factual if you ask me.
Ahh Watkins just a little slip there. Close.
You guys should check out the jason Peters and chip kelly interviews on PE.com when they both mention how banged up JP has been down the stretch, and all the different crap he has been battling these last few weeks.
..
JP a proud, no nonsense guy, p admits how taxing this past month has been.
..
The videos are from this past week
Who did randall just torch?
Holding 🙂
Trivia tidbit . . .
2005 Draft.
Green Bay takes Rodgers w/ pick 24.
Pick 25? Washington selects QB Jason Campbell.
Didn’t GB trade back up for Rodgers?
No. GB stood pat.
Washington actually traded up to get Campbell
Ah OK. That’s a team with an excellent front office.
Funny how similar BRady Quinn’s night was to Aaron Rogers draft night experience. Two first round QB prospects that take drastic draft day Falls, Browns pick one, Green Bay Picks the other.. One amounted to noth ing, the other went on to be an MVP a type of QB
Wow. Carroll was toast right from the snap. Not good.
Weird coverage there, looked like Malcom Jenkins and Carroll had a miscommunication on the coverage.
Looked like a slight pick against Carroll to get him open.
all these pass plays and we haven’t sacked them yet.
Aaaand another dropped int.
That would have been a tough one.
Shhh, let me be cranky.
Not going to begrudge you that.
Beckhams a monster. Wonder how he lasted to 14.
Just a special year for his position…
…
I would assume he would have been ranked Higher than Amari Cooper if he was in this draft
..
He’s gonna be a problem for years. We got djax, bryant and bechkahm to deal with for the foreseeable future. Awesome
That is why we have focused so much on a shutdown corner…
Bills could have stayed at 8 and drafted ODB.
Instead lose this years 1st to trade up for Watkins.
Did Beckham project to be THIS good, though?
I agree with you. But I’m just wondering if the projected distance between the two was greater than what we’ve seen.
I didn’t see any draft analyst put anyone in Watkins’ class, and most of them had Mike Evans as the clear #2. I don’t remember seeing anyone having ODB as higher than the #3, and lots had him back at 4th or 5th best.
Same impression.
Watkins actually has some catching up to do to catch Beckham.
But he sure has the tools.
Yeah but the bills knew that… They went with the size and potential, over the smaller, can’t miss , NFL game ready stud… It’s not even fair to compare the two now, because ODB had so much more polish coming into the league… Doubt 3 years from now, either team will complain…
.,
But the bills were pretty friggin dumb to pay what they did to ensure they got Sammy, when they could have stayed put and took which ever stud WR fell into their lap… Absurd that they traded. Away a first next year when you think about it…
It’s hard for me to talk about without sounding like an asshole, bc he was easily my favorite WR in the draft.
His route running and hands are just so SPECIAL.
Watkins is more explosive and Evans has an amazing size/speed combination….but ODB is on another planet in terms of WR skills.
Besides that, there clearly wasn’t enough separation between those 3 guys to warrant trading a 1st round pick to move up 4 spots.
That’s just dumb regardless.
He was as pretty can’t miss as you can get… One of the more polished route runners coming into gaheme league, great hands, who also light up the combine athletically… That practically “checks all the boxes”
..
You figure we picked 22, and WE HAD NO SHOT AT HIM… I’d call that pretty can’t miss…. I
….
It just happened to be a special WR class. He would be the 1st WR picked THIS year..l but last year, when there are similarly high rated prospects in this day an age, teams will almost always take the size and upside first…
…
It’s not like the Bucs and bills should be upset that they have sammy or Evans, Win, Win, Win for everyones except bills who were dumb to pay what they paid to get one
These Kate Upton commercials are ridiculous.
worse than Backstrom looks though?
I’m not watching them for the plot.
What plot? I’m not even sure what they’re selling.
Secondary is pitiful. Basically back to where they were at the end of the ’12 season and looking at a complete overhaul yet again.
Ideally Davis would be gone too. I have seen nothing that he has been able to make any kind of adjustments or get real improvements this year out of the offense.
Nah. Jenkins is a keeper. The rest can be unceremoniously dumped.
He has been getting routinely beat in zone like a drum and in the 2nd half has dropped a few INTs.
our previous safeties haven’t even been in position to drop INTs though
That’s just the state of safties in the league now. That’s about good as it gets without having an elite talent like you know who
Jenkins will be back because of his favorable contract but he has played like I thought he would much of the 2nd half. Stone hands/limited play-making with adequate play.
He is just an upgrade from last season because of how bad Chung and company were.
I value him higher but even so considering what we paid and what’s out there I can live with this.
Made the play there.
If you think about it…we never really invested any real resources in it other then the minimal. Few late round picks and mid-tier FA. So no big surprise we went no where. At least we have Jenkins now
Wow a run on first down!
I’m pretty sure Chip just said “fuck it, let’s just throw it deep all the time.”
I am getting really really sick of the deep pass on 3rd and short. Just get a bloody first down and give the D a rest
There was plenty of room to fit that ball to Huff.
Jenkins, wow impressive he kept up.
Prosinski on the field on defense.
Crazy that manning is on pace to throw for 400+ yards and yet no tds. I wonder what the record is for yardage in a game with no tds.
Bennie Logan nice run stop there.
Nice play watkins
Jenkins and Beckham have been talking all day. Jenkins getting the better of it the past couple of plays.
Wow, first Jenkins then Watkins making plays on ODB.
That is how the “focus on the hands” is supposed to work.
Imagine if fletcher was in there. ODB would be approaching 300 yards
What a luxury having a Beckham is.
Your QB can go deep just about anytime and the WR just outruns the coverage.
That was the luxury we had with Jackson too.
Eli likes his safety blanket WR, like Plaxico used to be
The speed is great, but its Beckham’s vertical and hands that are most impressive to me anyway.
D_E:
Great point. It’s the other stuff
Like this Watkins kid a lot, looks like he has a good set of tools, not physically limited the way Cary and Fletch are.
Yeah Jaylen can play…real smart kid too. High FB IQ.
..
Love his speed out there, he looks fast, showed some good recovery speed on a couple plays earlier. That’s something we miss bigtime with Fletch and Cary, neither of them have any recovery speed.
Shame he got hurt near the combine, he was expected to really put on a show of speed… Guess it’s good for us.
..
Dude, every practice he takes reps at safety, slot corner and outside corner…for a rookie to have learned 3 positions to where he takes snaps at 3 different spots each and every high paced practce is friggin impressive intelligence….kid will def find his Niche somewhere in our secondary…. I would LOVE if he could Yoke up a bit and be Jenkins running mate at safety.l. Sit in base, watch Desean go in motion, don’t have to call a Time Out, just let either safety Jenkins or Watkins go man up against hm
Yes lucky for us, if he’d ran real well we might not have gotten him where we did.
Enjoying the game Malcolm Jenkins is having
Hard to believe last quarter of the season. Where did the season go
It almost feels merciful that its over at this point.
Love that when Mathews sees he can’t outrun anything he just plows over whoever is in front of him.
This is the fastest McCoy has looked all season.
He is getting healthy just in time for the playoffs.
That sound was my heart breaking.
He really looking noticeably FAST and QUICK today… Been saying ghat all game… Really moving fast today
Goddammit, we’re going to win this game aren’t we….
dont say such things.
Wow, the first time all season Sanchez looks into the flat for a checkdown…
Good to see shady can still catch. Hope chip noticed that
Polk time.
POLK IT IN!!!!
I dig that
Polka D.O.T.
Come on Jordan, get in the friggin endzone
I think he hit the rookie wall.
Yep we are winning this and 10-6 does look better. Not complaining
Next year I’d like to see us get back to running the ball more, and to mix in Sproles and Polk more. Something like a 15/5/5 split would be great.
Is it just something about Philly where the coaches slowly turn into Gollum, stroking their passing game, whispering, “My precious…”
Man, hopefully polk doesn’t get hurt this offseason. I’d like to see him get extended carries in preseason games instead of all the UDFA running backs that fans over rate and don’t end up making our roster.
…
Love to see Polk have a half of football, as the lead RB
Nothing but good things seem to happen when he gets the ball. He’s like the anti-Josh Huff.
Polk being hurt to start the season really threw a wrench into that plan this year didn’t it? Love to see him get touches early too.
Shouldn’t be tough considering Shady won’t be here….
Is Maclin out of the game?
He is out right now but I wouldn’t mind seeing him play CB :p
Nice coverage by Jenkins there.
Can we get a little Marcus Smith action?
Jeez Chip…..
Flag on whoever was blocking Barwin.
That was a hold or I’m a monkey’s uncle.
Oook oook oook?
Eep.
WOW. WOW
Wow, they missed a huge hold lol
Baltimore is in a must win situation and they just now took a 3 point lead over the stinking Brown? Flacco ain’t giving them their money’s worth
We are going to be the only team in the NFC with a winning record sitting out of the playoffs .And there will be a 7 win team with a home game.
so is watkins playing as dime corner?
Yup
lol, how did they miss that hold.
Matched up on Jaylen Watkins.
He looked just like DJax in Blue.
including the end zone celebration.
That kids going to be a pain in our ass for a long time
Plus Cruz as number 2. Tough
Yup. they just force him the ball and nobody can do anything about it.
Ahhh Watkins fell.
Look at the scoreboard rookie before you back peddle in.
how does ODB have 12 TD’s missed the first 4 games lol.
That guy might end up being the best WR in the whole NFL.
Can manning drop 500 yards on this defense?
Would have been great if, somehow, the Eagles drafted ODB last year.
But what a waste he’d have been the slot.
Well, he wasn’t going to beat out Cooper. Cooper can block.
well, if ODB hasnt made CB a priority for Howie in the offseason, I dont know what will.
Then Dez and DeSean, cb should absolutely be top priority.
Dez, DJax, Beckham, Garcon, and Cruz coming back. Yep CB should be the priority.
It’s OK to run the ball Chip….
At least this game has been highly entertaining.
All this passing is not going to end well. Run the ball!!!!!
Jeremy Maclin is a poor man’s OBJ.
A very poor man’s.
dude we get it you like OBJ.
I like football.
:shrugs:
sanchez just missed him by 4 yards.
RUN THE DAMN BALL ANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you.
Oh no, Huff touched the ball….
Sanchez threw that 50 yards in the air.
Wew!
His first OVERthrow of the season?
I repeat…
The gameplan is ass backwards right now, gotta run on 1st then think about throwing on 2nd and 3rd
Every time, when we do the 2nd and long run we never get shit. Every other team in the NFL will get 5-10.
Pass on 1st, run on 2nd, pass on 3rd. Getting really predictable.
Correction: pass short of the sticks on 3rd.
Been doing that since 1999.
really dumb penalty
rookie mistake. you can’t run that route like that so short of the 1st down marker.
Dammit Parkey
Are you upset the he made the fg?
He was hoping for a higher draft pick.
Yes. See above.
Like Parkey with the bounce back game after last week. Kid doesn’t get rattled.
This is the last Quartr of the season boys… I know we have the lead, but I’m rooting for overtime lo
Genius!
OT!OT!OT!
I’ll settle for last second 60yd FG loss
Have the announcers mentioned that Parkey’s set the rookie scoring record?
Or a graphic?
Anything?
Just now.
I want to see some Manning face.
Our pass rush hasn’t gotten home yet.
Where is the pressure
A tie would be funny.
Cox destroying his man again.
An absolute beast.
Love that he’s coming into his own, and he’s so young still too. Could anchor the line for another 7-8 years.
Him, Logan, and Kendricks are the cornerstones. A good cb and another safety and this defense could be good for a while, key word “could”
Running to his side is becoming pointless lol
50 passes. 0 sacks.
Nick Foles + 2015 1st + 2015 2nd + 2016 1st + 2016 2nd to Tampa Bay for #1 pick.
Get it done Howie.
Absolutely not.
Not enough.
Boykin on odb
Cox was collapsing the pocket on a double team there. Guy is absolutely our best player.
Best defensive player Andy picked?
In an almost retroactive sense, yes haha.
He was still collapsing it when he was facing the other way, the man is a total beast.
LeSean McCoy, Fletcher Cox, and our 1st to Tampa Bay for #1 overall to get Mariota. Who would be on board with that?
No way.
NO
I’m not sure that would even be enough.
Fuck no.. Cox untouchable
You sound like my wife.
ha!!!
Timothy Leary
Would have to add Foles and a 2016 pick to get TB to pick up the phone.
Some of y’all drastically underrate the value of a true franchise QB.
Minus cox and add 2 more 1st round picks and a second to get the job done.
can we replace Cox with Foles
yes but that combo isn’t getting the pick.
HOLY FUCK CHIP RUN THE BALL
lmao pass on 1st
Mariota just finished signing the mortgage papers for his new home in an elite Dunedin neighborhood
Lui non mi interessa. Sono contento con FOles
I went on record early that I’m a Foles guy.
His injury ruined the season.
Oh, no…oh no…
Last time Sanchez threw the ball away, anyone remember?
Depends if you count his picks…
terrible playcalling
Been that way for most of 2nd half of the season
Just what we need, Mccoy getting hurt at the end of a meaningless game.
Thats 100% on chip. You want to play your starters in meaningless games this is what happens
Can u imagine the media inquisition?
Yeah, will be brutal if this is an ACL. Fortunately it didnt look too bad.
He is fne
they cant even lose right
the playcalling in the 2nd half has been baffling. shades of reid.
Could Shurmur be holding Chip back?
How, exactly?
Kelly decides on the game plan.
Kelly calls the plays.
Kelly decides on the players.
Kelly is still learning the pro game. He said he picked Shurmur because he’s been in the league for awhile and could help with his knowledge of the WC offense.
I figure the OC should help and give good input. Does he?
Perhaps in play design. Definitely not the innovative stuff we saw early last year and at Oregon.
No way. We haven’t even scratched the surface of chips offense. He keeps running the same plays. He’s saving the wrinkles for when he gets his QB.
Fake punt? Lol
I really wish!
Just start callin flea flickers and all types of wild ish
nice to see a rb hit the hole and just go
Wait? What? Is that allowed?
Nate!
Wow, the only guy in our secondary who can catch a ball.
Finally a pick after eli just heaving it up for better part of the game
There’s the Manningface haha.
and theres the manningface
Eli doing his best Eli impression
not a bad decision but a bad throw. randle has an easy six if that throw is where it was supposed to be and not lofted so much
Oh thank god…I thought I was going to go all game without a Manning face.
Sigh*
Manning face!!! Yay!! That made my day.
Awesome, Allen steps up WAY too late and hurts the team again. Fitting
dammit nate, cant do anythign right.
Love Polk, runs hard.
sure wish he could stay healthy
He just has his momentum going ahead forward doesn’t take that studder or side step.
Hahahaha Nate Delivered us ELI FACE to end the season,
.,
Shadys out, Polk is in, run it the rest of the way. Rumble young man, rumble
Wish shady got one more yard though
why?
To add 100 yard game to his career. Doesn’t matter
Nate Allen is our only DB who can catch apparently…
I wanted Maclin to get just a few more yards to pass Desean
I think we just saw how you stop ODB and randle. Eli! long live eli!!
yup underthrow it.
Come on Sanchez, pick 6!
BOOOOOOOOOOOO
so ravens, KC, buffalo all won. How many draft spots are we losing with this win
I *think* we’ll be at 19. So…4?
so about a third round pick’s worth
we don’t move we stay at 20
Well, look at it this way: we’ll botch a lower pick next year instead of a high one.
I hate fox. Why are we watching this blow out dallas love fest
i wonder what odb and huff were just talking about. vacation plans perhaps?
Apparently, these announcers haven’t reviewed the tape from the past 5-6 games.
Do they know the Eagles were 9-3?
And now they’re 10-6 and out of playoffs?
HELLO!!!
This is not about 10-6 teams missing the playoffs.
It’s about 9-3 teams missing the playoffs.
Yeah especially watching the Boys utterly crush the hapless Skins this week.
Painful.
Thank you.
We needed to beat a playoff team, be it DAL, GB, SEA, AZ or SF (not even).
Not good enough.
Just not our season. OL injuries, MLB injuries, QB injury, so many sloppy turnovers.
Exactly. And here, I draw the ire of others, but I put this collapse on the coaching staff. No excuses for going 1-3 in December. Out coached, out played.
no argument from me.
You never saw Reid — of whom I was no great fan — blunder that way.
Yeah but…as MJ said, they were playing with fire all along. The 3 loss streak was not really a breakdown or a turnaround so much as same-shit-different-outcome.
Didn’t hear MJ say the Eagles had no right being 9-3 when they were 9-3.
well, you wouldn’t, but you did hear Kelly picking the wins apart and he said more than once that the turnovers will either go away or they will bite. The Eagles were in every game except at Lambeau, and they did a little bit better than break even. In EVERY loss, outside of Green Bay, they beat themselves, and you can blame Kelly or Davis or Fletcher or Sanchez, or the man on the moon, but the fact is the Eagles offense never developed the habit of minimizing errors.
To have our season ended by that bum BOB Griffin is just despicable. ATleast dallas won today so it wouldn’t have mattered anyway.
…
Shame we have to watch a crap NFC south team in the playoffs,
,,,
Someone figure out our draft position
20 we’re locked
Yuck
that is why I was rooting for the Giants we would have picked 17th
I know, I know….. Furthers we can trade up without paying too much is like #15
….
Tho, I wonder if Bill Obrien will want to draft the Penn state QB next year. If that’s desperately on their mind, someone can probably trade for their first round pick if you give them an extra first rounder next year
Texans pick like 3 spots ahead of us their pick isn’t too much better, I love my man Hack (I may play with him next year) but whatever I don;t want to talk too much about the draft until after FA
This says #21.
Can’t believe we won this game. So dumb.
http://overthecap.com/2015-nfl-draft-selection-tracker/
we can’t be 21 we aren’t in the playoffs
Ahhhhh
Nevermind.
Now it says #18. Clearly still updating.
I am pretty sure we have the best record of non playoff teams
the season ended when we lost to dallas, no one to blame but ourselves. DAL won the remainder. “BOB” did us a favor beating us.
F Dallas I want them to get destroyed in the playoffs because I can’t bare to see their disgusting faces any longer
Okay, so, what do we do now?
talk about the offseason while praying Dallas loses
cry?
Continue drinking heavily.
As if anyone thought of stopping.
multiple up votes
he says, without actually upvoting
continue in denial. and vehemently root against the cowboys.
It’s going to be a long dark winter
Watch Dallas go one and done.
Alrighty. Even with the collapse, I think we’ll look back and find some good things to build on. Next year is our year folks!!! (I’m going to save this comment in my clipboard just in case)
So when draft day comes, and the Eagles use a 3rd Rd pick to trade up 4 spots, Kelly can remind the media that he had to do it because the team finished 10-6 in 2014.
Yeah. Winning today was pointless in every aspect including the lack of getting a look at younger players besides Watkins.
Unless that trade gives the Eagles the ODB version of a cornerback then god please no
Kelly demands a lot of his players and ending a season on a 4 game loosing streak could of caused some problems. So yeah we lost few spots but overall winning this game could go long way. And its not we are hitting gold on First round picks anyways
I agree. It also has a deflating effect on the Giants as well. I have no problem with winning today.
That’ll carry over to next year.
The Giants are already finished.
I think that part of that train may have left the station for Kelly.
Do you think he’s loosing the locker room?
That some reliable, local media folks were kicking that around in writing suggests some grumbling may have been going on.
Which media?
Recollection is RFrank.
If Kelly moves up 4 spots it’ll probably be celebrated by you and every other Eagles fan. The media will pay it less attention than you are.
Not sure I’m following?
You mean, I’ll point out that Kelly gained nothing by winning a meaningless game?
What’s the point?
They won a meaningless game.
Whomever the Birds draft will have about a 58% chance of succeeding (other than QBs).
And if — like MSmith II — the Eagles 2015 1stRd pick does not start a single game, then the likelihood of the player actually becoming a starter in the NFL drops to about 6.5%
wow
I can’t wait to hear the same people who said they wanted the Eagles to win this game for “pride” or because “you play to win” or some such thing bitch and moan when the player they want in the draft goes two spots before the Eagles’ pick.
I’m on the I’d rather they didn’t win side. Clip and save.
Our playoff status aside, it makes me sick that a 7 win team is in the playoffs, period.
They won their division as crummy as it is. Eagles benefited a lot of facing a crummy division too.
Like I said, it has nothing to do with us. It made me sick when Seattle did it, and it makes me sick now.
It sucks but I never want that rule changed
The only thing I would change is the home field rule. I’d put them in order of record, with the top 4 getting home games.
Still rather would have seen Barkley today with more Polk/Huff on offense and on defense mixing in Smith III.
ABSOLUTELY.
Is Kelly seriously suggesting that if the Eagles were locked in to the 3rd seed, he’d proceeded exactly as he did today?
If he’d have said “yes,” he’s a liar or he’s stupid.
So far, no one’s said Kelly’s stupid.
It’s inexcusable.
That was the bizarre part of his comments and the one thing he said that I could understand why people got miffed/puzzled about.
And now to be tortured by pencilhead and doughface calling the Packers game
So, to get through the playoffs, I need to pick a bandwagon to jump on. Obviously it won’t be the Cowboys and I can’t rout for New England on principle (except against Dallas).
Who should I go with?
Detroit…underdogs we can beat
Maybe, but that would make yet one more team that won a SB before the Eagles.
It’ll be the Packers for me.
Packers for me as well. I am a big Aaron Rodgers fan.
Same. Seems like a nice guy. The Packers don’t seem to have a lot of assholes on their team, unlike, say, the Seahawks.
Wish the bills made the playoffs, I Focks with the Bills D!
By the way, you silence on not posting your donation to WWP (as you stated you would do on Dec 17) is DEAFENING.
You talk a lot of smack, but in the end, you are a fraud and a liar.
hmmm F the Packers, and Seahawks F Arians, obviously not Dallas, F the Patriots, So Lions the South winner and any other AFC team is fine
Maybe I’ll go with Carolina/Atlanta.
I was thinking them but they don’t stand a chance I’m going Bengals, I love them
Oh yeah. Bengals. I like them. Good suggestion.
I would if it wasn’t for Dalton. I can’t stand Dalton.
whomever is playing NE
Can’t believe no more Eagles 🙁
Noi vi consentira di mantenere vivo lo spirito
Easier said then done this year brother, I’m pretty down in the dumps with this end….
…
After Foles went down . . . deflating baloon
I was actually ok then. Per me, cuando il dottore a detto che FOles non potteva tornare in tempo per i playoffs it sucked the life out of me. At that moment it was like all the perserveing was pointless because we weren’t ever doing anything with Sanchez in the playoffs
The hell is with all of these languages being spoken
GEAGLE and AVC like to have side conversations in Italian. My guess is the conversation isn’t private (ie, they aren’t talking about us), so not sure why.
anyone know Japanese so I can have private conversations too lol
Domo arigato, Mr Roboto?
Mr Roboto?
???
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cShYbLkhBc
I can speak Japanese but having private conversations in a public forum is just rude. 🙂
But Geagle is being mean to me with his Italian
I’m with you. I was hanging on that announcement, too. To resurrect the season.
Right,,,,at that point we were fighting to stay afloat, our OL were supposed to be back to form by then, Nick might hav had to games to shake the rust off.l…and the doctors news just crushed me…that Monday was horrible, as if the loss the day before wasnt enough
guess that means you go back to you job…like you said last week “basketball is my job but the NFL is my passion”. “Basketball is my job”…..sure. And everyone believes that “my family owns a franchise”….sure. You are a first rate narcissist and a loser.
So tired of hearing people complain about a 10-win team missing the playoffs.
Should have beat a playoff team. End of story.
Agree. It is frustrating that a team with a losing record will go.in from the NFC South however. At the same time it is our fault and we have no right to bitch and complain. When you play sloppy football it catches up to you. We were 9-3 and due to our own errors we let it slip right out from under us. If we didnt play such sloppy ball in the begining of the season we could have very easily been 10-2, ssee ARZ and SanFran. You can bring up injuries, but the fact of the matter is we consistently shot ourselves in the foot.
We also could have easily been an 11-win team not getting in. Whatever.
Cowboys will draft WC#2 — which is Detroit, most likely.
I can’t think of a worse match-up in Rd 1 for the ‘Boys than Detroit.
As for the ATL/CAR winner . . . they should buy refundable TIX to Green Bay and Seattle.
Because the AZ Cardinals CANNOT SCORE A TD
And it’ll be a home game. Not a good sign for Dallas.
How hard is it to find a QB?
Case Keenum was a practice squader 2 weeks ago.
Today he put Houston in position to make the playoffs.
Granted, against JAX — which may be worse than Bucs.
But O’Brien went with Fitzpatrick, a solid, experienced QB — like Sanchez — instead of the gun-slinger with the weak arm.
Hard to find QBs in the NFL.
Fitzpatrick is probably big a gunslinger you are going to find in this league. I haven’t payed attention to him this season but that’s been his career.
Fitz is a Harvard educated *strong-armed* gunslinger.
Keenum’s the U-Houston weak-armed guy.
L’abiammo Gia trovatto. Dobbiamo solo avere pazzienza con il Giovane Nichola
si?
Certo
This is German? no?
Noooooo
Chinese?
ITalian man.. Portuguese, Spanish, how do you want it? 😉
I know I’m kidding lol
ahhhhhhh! Si, bueno!
Stop!!!
😉
Sanchez had 4 full seasons to develop (into what he is).
Foles has had half as much.
I give Rex Ryan credit for sticking with Sanchez, despite the struggles. At least they saw what they had.
Especially in crazy New York… Guess it was easier to justify when you talking about a top 10 pick.
..
Plus Sanchez — miraculously apparently — reached the AFC title game TWICE.
That’ll buy you a lot of credit with the coach.
Truth
Look at history. It is very hard to find a franchise QB. Just ask a very large fraction of all the teams in the league.
That’s what I’m getting at.
Finding a great QB is (1) very hard, (2) very rare, and (3) a crap-shoot.
What a waste of a year. A fucking step back if anything. My enthusiasm for this team is quickly wearing thin. But way to win a meaningless game and hurt the future!
67-872-8 for Matthews usually that would put you in contention for rookie of the year but special year
Beckham had freaking 91-1305-12 in 12 games, ridiculous
Ridiculous!!!!
that’s pace for 121-1740-16 as a rookie!
Play all 16 games as a well established veteran and thats a probowl year. But to do that as a rookie in only 12 games. Insanity. Has that ever been done before. I know last year Josh Gordon had a monster year while missing a hanful of games. Were his numbers similiar?
87-1646-9 in 14 games not as impressive actually if you ask me
Still impressive but yes i agree.
yeah we are calling over 1600 yards in 14 games not as impressive shows how good Beckham is
I’ve not followed this . . .
But if ODB’d not been able to come back, who had the numbers for ROY?
Evans
Followed by Mathews correct or no?
72-999-9 for Benjamin and 65-982-6 for Watkins then Matthews
Damn, lol unbelivable this rookie WR class.
really just ridiculous Brandon Cooks, Jarvis Landry, Jordan Matthews these guys have been great but will not even get considered for any rookie awards just a special class
I think when you then mention he played slot so he wasnt in on all snaps that even makes those numbers more impressive. Correct me if im wrong but all of the other rookie WR thatdidbig things this year played on the outside. Then consider he played with 2 QBs that have heavily struggled this year. Very impressive year from him. Would have been awsome if him, Shady, and Maclin eclipsed 1000 yards this year. A feat that is not done that often.
Still like to see Davis gone too after this season but I would be really surprised with how Kelly talked the past few weeks if there are any meaningful changes to the coaching staff.
Willing to bet though that there is a fair amount of roster turnover though and really different from last season when the Eagles were largely bystanders in FA.
That’s freakin absurd… What a joke. The acumen on THIS site is supposed to be BETTER THAN THAT!!!
Only way Billy is gone is by a miracle that we get Rex which won’t happen
We are not changing out of the 3-4.
No we aren’t there you go just one more reason it won’t happen
On another topic:
John Harbaugh’s teams have reached the playoffs 5 out of 6 years — including 3 AFC title games and 1 SB win.
Damned impressive.
I think this is just an indicator that we should all fear what will happen when Coach Fipp becomes Head Coach.
I had a dream last night (this is for real) that Amari Cooper went and broke all the receiving records for us next year as a rookie
That would be nice.
Did your dream tell you how the Eagles were able to select him?
a simple trade up, no idea what we gave up can’t remember
you are wasting your fantasy dreams on Eagles draft picks? aim higher
lol I haven’t had a good ol’ Eagles fantasy dream in forever
I had a dream adrian Peterson was our running back.., that dream didn’t suck lo,
Personally I think he is a nice WE but i DONT put him in the same league as ODB, Sammy, and Evans………i put him in that next tier of prospects with guys like Hopkinsk Cordarrell
Personally as a prospect I put him way above Hopkins. You know how much I loved Evans and ODB and I think Amari is in that tier
Well if he becomes and eagle, I hope you will be proven right
Was the team failing to make the playoffs again because they neglected to address the secondary in the draft and got torched over and over again part of this dream?
It Probably was I probably just tuned it out
Question asked if ODB’s rookie year was the best . . .
I’d say if it’s not at the top of the class, won’t take long to call roll.
The other rookie WRs with numbers like ODB . . .
Randy Moss in ’98: 16 games, 69 rec 1313 yards 17 TDs
Anquan Boldin in ’03: 16 games, 103 rec 1377 yds 8 TDs.
___________
From another era (when DBs could hit WRs all over the field) . . .
Bob Hayes ’68: 14 games, 46 rec 1003 yards, 12 TDs
Beckham’s numbers are pretty close in 4 less games
ODB’s impressive. No question.
But in his rookie year, Moss was remarkable — with his height and speed combination. And great hands.
Best rookie year I’ve seen. Not in pure numbers. But impact.
I soooooo AGREE!!!!
Oh I agree I just think you have to remember that Beckham played 4 less games
Moss was unstoppable
so we learned this year that ODB may be one of the top receivers in the league and will haunt us for years, Romo is actually quite good and we may not have QB answer on our team, Shady may need elite OL to be great. Our CB’s (and partly a safety problem) are god awful. I mean, I just felt closer to a SB at the end of last year than this year. I hope Foles just regressed b/c of the OL, but I don’t know.
I’m just down. And honestly I’d rather they lost today. They will inevitably be some prospect just out of our reach.
Yeah, this win will probably cost us in some way
Foles looked just as bad in the preseason and when he had a healthy O-Line early. We just have to hope being on the sideline woke him up.
yes he did. Neither you nor GEAGLE cheered me up.
And to make you feel even worse, we have a coaching staff that hates change. So what we saw all year is probably what we get next year.
When did he have a healthy OL?
Johnson missed the first four games.
Mathis and Barbre went down week one.
Kelce went down week 3.
They were healthy in the preseason. And before Mathis and Barbre went down in game one. Gardner was healthy and played fine at RT.
Foles looked terrified and indecisive from the get-go. That continued all year, even when there was no pressure.
48 attempts in the preseason. Real big sample size.
Gardner did not play well at RT. He started 2 games before they benched him.
Foles did struggle this season. But to say he did it behind anything other than a patchwork offensive line is disingenuous.
He sure as heck was better than Mark Sanchez.
Foles struggled from the very beginning. His play didn’t suddenly decline when linemen started dropping, small sample size or no.
You felt closer last year because _it was our year_! The NFL had not yet caught up to Chip’s system and we had great injury luck, and the teams we played had terrible injury luck. With a bit of fairy dust, we could have made a deep run. This year we were jinxed by too many guys out on offense and our running game was ineffective. Teams baited us into throwing 50 passes a game, but neither of the QBs were good enough to play that way. They also figured out how to attack our secondary. Chip and Davis need to aggressively counter these trends if we want to return to the playoffs.
In week 3 of our NFL season, we were already finishing a game down to 1 last starting offensive lineman. That’s crazy! That’s just one position…. I will say that not to many teams can play 15 different OL combinations, lose its defensive captain for half a season, lose its starting QB for half a season, and still manage to go 10-6…. That really doesn’t happen very often. This season sucks in so many ways, but one way it doesn’t suck is the bad luck we had, typically makes a team go 5-11, 6-10 at the most…. The Really good ones can perservere as much as we had to, to win 10 games in this mess of a season..l
..,
What really really sucks about this year? It’s going to be so damn hard to evaluate our offensive lineman, especially the young Backups.
..
We had a nice veteran line that had continuity playing with each other. I’d bet that if we lost 1 offensive lineman and do inserted one young back, and he stayed in there for 4-5 weeks we would see that we have some promising young backups on the Bench. For example, I like Tobin at Left Guard…the problem was he bose dived when Mathis came back and we asked to move him to the left side..
..
Not only were we having to play inexperienced backs, moving them around at different spots every week, but even the ones who got a little continuity, always ended up with someone different lining up next to them…. That’s impossible for an OL to work like that…. Continuity that develops Coehesion is so crucial for an OL… We had such an injury mess at OL, that we actually got to play all out backups, but we had to play them in such dysfunctional and impossible situations, that I dont even know how the hell are we going to accurately evaluate them?
,,
Normally a team with so many OL injuries like us, ATleast has the silver lining of getting to see what their young back ups on the bench looked like… But we were forced to give young OL so much playing time, but it was in such a dysfunctional injury ravaged mess of a situation, that I know less about our backups than I did before the season started…
but it was our DB’s that primarily cost us the playoffs. We had no injuries there.
Turnovers are why we aren’t in the playoffs, . But the strength of this team was built to be the offense,…the strength of your team can’t need the Defense and Special teams to bail it out as much as our ST and Defense had to this year..as bad as the Sevondary played down the stretch, if THIS YEARS Defense with this YEARS front 7, were playing with LAST YEARS OFFENSE, we would be contending.
…
So it’s not as simple as putting this season on one position group, plenty different things had a part in this dissapointing year…
…
If we face this time of injury curse next year, or the year after….I wouldn’t feel confident that we could overcome it better than we fought to do this year….I don’t know that we can ever have an entire starting caliber OL on our bench as backups, in case all the starters go down in week 3, and we finish the skins game with only todd Herremans, and he had to play Tacjle, not even his Guard spot..I don’t know if we can Ever have so much depth that we can do better than 10-6 against the injuries luck we had this year…
…
This year we were probably more injured than Andys 4-12 season…… Not many teams could have endured what we did to go 10-6
I think 2012 was worse injury-wise.
Only 3 players started 16 games:
Mathis, Ryans, Nnamdi.
On the O-line . . .
– Peters played 0 (hence, Demetrus Bell . . . ARG!)
– Watkins split time at RG w/ Jake Scott.
– Herremanns lasted 8 games at RT, then gave way to rookie Dennis Kelly
– Kelce started 2 games at C, then Reynolds took over.
Elsewhere . . .
-DJax missed 4+ games.
– McCoy missed 4+ games
– Maclin 1+ game
– Celek 2+ games
– Vick missed at least 3 to injury (Addition by Subtraction?)
And Colt Anderson actually started at S in 4 games.
2012 was a massacre.
On a completely unrelated note, it will be a complete joke if JJ Watt doesn’t win MVP this year. Finished with 20.5 sacks, Had a monster game on the last game of the year, including a safety late in the 4th quarter to help ice the game. Lead the league in almost every relevant defensive front 7 stat. Is probably the most unstoppable defensive player since… Reggie White? Bruce Smith? Lawrence Taylor?
If Rodgers or Brady wins it that is a complete injustice.
what? if I were picking first, I would take Rogers every time.
So would I, doesn’t mean Watt doesn’t deserve MVP this year.
20.5 sacks 4 FF, 1 pick, a couple safeties a blocked field goal or 2 and 5 TDs just ridiculous but just so you know Houston has more sacks
And 3 TD receptions.
Yeah that was included in my 5 TDs I thought he had 4 TD receptions
2 returns and 3 catches I think. His 20.5 sacks is more impressive than Houston because he lines up along the interior a lot of the time, doesn’t just get to fly off the edge all game.
oh I agree it is more impressive but you said he leads in every important front 7 category just thought I would mention that
Defensive player of the year, yeah. But he’s not more valuable than Brady, Rodgers, or Manning. Non non-QB is.
If you’re not going to give it to the player who has the best season you may as well just call it the most valuable quarterback award.
It stands for “most valuable player”. A good quarterback is inherently more valuable than any other asset in the game. If you want to rename it the “most outstanding player” or something like that, I’m fine with voting for Watt. But there’s no way a defensive lineman on a non-playoff team, no matter how dominant, deserves an award for value to the team over a great quarterback on a contender that’s only a contender because they have him.
MVP . . .
It’s why Rodgers spent 3 years on the bench behind Favre.
The position was QB. Favre was a pretty good one.
Favre was still having a great career.
And, in his last year in GB, Favre led the them to a 13-3 record.
we need packers to win. We get second place schedule next season rather see lions then packers
I want the Packers to win cuz Aaron just went down I will definitely take the Lions over the Packers on the road without Aaron to beat Dallas
Didn’t I tell you, the Bills and lions defense would out a beating on the Pack down the stretch?
.,
But the Lionsnot winning in Detroit since like 92, and Stafford being 0-15 on the road against teams with winning records are insane stats
….
I swear I knew Rogers would get hurt before the playoffs. Too small
JP:
Is the game against GB/DET next year home or away?
Regardless, Suh appears to be leaving Detroit.
That defense won’t be nearly the same without him. (Look at what happened to UNebraska after he left!)
I think GB game would be at home as our last 2 were in GB. Not sure about Det
Ok.
Had the Lions at home in 2013.
Wonder if that’s enough to put next year’s game in Pontiac?
From Reuben: Lurie: “We know exactly what we have to upgrade.”
where was this seen I need hope!
After 2013, what did the Eagles think they had to upgrade?
WR? Very likely. DJax cut, Maclin stayed healthy, Matthews played the slot. Overall, plus or minus?
O-line? Needed depth. Didn’t get any in the draft.
Safety? For sure. Jenkins signed. Chung cut loose. Allen returned. Better.
CB? Did the Eagles not need any upgrade there after last year?
Rush OLB? Apparently Kelly thought so. He said as much, I think. Didn’t work out as planned.
____________
2014?
WR? Yes. Replace Cooper.
O-line? Yes. Need depth. Again.
Safety? Yes. Replace Allen.
CB? Yes. Replace Fletcher, at least.
Rush OLB? Yes. Still need someone younger the T-Cole.
And Kelly’s talked around the QB question. Foles is no sure thing, apparently, for Kelly.
____________
That’s a lot of positions that the Eagles — what did Lurie say? — “have to upgrade.”
And knowing is not the same as getting it done.
