SEA 10, PHI 7 – 2nd Half

They had one drive that looked good, but an incomplete deep ball killed the rhythm of that drive and it stalled after that.
Seattle has 242 yards, but only 10 points. The Eagles have shut down their RBs, but Russell Wilson is making big plays. He’s run for 43 yards and a TD. He’s thrown for 153. The Eagles need to do a better job of keeping him in the pocket. Make him a conventional QB and he’s not the same player.
The Eagles get the ball to start the 2nd half. They don’t have to score, but they do need to at least move the ball and show some life.

Throwing it 10 yards out of bounds while in the grasp and between tackles isn’t intentional grounding. If the Seahawks do it.

I know the secondary is giving up big plays, but its up to the front 7 to not make them try to cover for 5 seconds… Like the one play cox fell down, Wilson ended up with an extra 3’sedonds and converted the 3rd and long… Defense played well, turn up the pass rush a tad bit more..
He just heaved it up though, if Nate Allen had any awareness of what was happening he could have picked it or broken it up at worst. He was just oblivious to where his guy was.

This is Seattle’s kind of game. It’s a good test of how the team will respond. A loss can be useful if we learn to play their style.

Given the way the last few plays have gone, we had no chance of making that 4th down. Our D, with the notable exception of many of the 3rd and longs has played very well. Frankly, our ST and D has a better chance of scoring 😛

I wouldn’t touch either with a 10 foot pole. IMO those guys are both JAGs who are made to look a lot better than they are by virtue of playing in a scheme that’s perfect for them, surrounded by elite talent. The track record for signing middling guys from elite defenses isn’t good. Buyer beware.
This game should put to rest the “maybe Mark Sanchez can be the guy” argument. The offense has made him look passable, but he’s just not good enough to beat an elite defense.
Foles may not be, either. Whether it’s from a Foles who was more like the guy we saw last year than this year or a guy who’s not on the roster, Kelly’s offense won’t achieve its full potential until it has better quarterbacking.

By punting there, you’re basically saying the chance of forcing a turnover is higher than the chance of converting a 4th and 12. Even with a poorly functioning offense against an elite defense you can’t make that assumption.
I’d say that’s pretty accurate to what Chip was thinking. Also, toss in that his D has played well for most of the game and he just watched his O-line give up 2 sacks.

After this game i think sanchez’s ceiling is clear. Good but not great, like Foles really needs the running game. That said he only attempted 20 passes all game. McCoy only ran for 50 yds. I hate that i waited 10 days for this.
The way Chip treated Sanchez when the run game is non-existent contrasted to the way he abandoned the run completely for several games with Foles is a pretty clear comparison of the level of comparative trust he has in them.

Unfortunately, best chance of a HOF qb for Philly right now is either Foles or a lower round pick developing into one unexpectedly. Everyone brings up Tom Brady when the 6th round comes up, but reality is that the odds of even a 1st rounder developing into a HOF caliber QB isn’t that great. In the lower rounds, it’s shear luck.

Our offense has been the biggest source of success this season despite the solid front 7 and great ST. Did I expect them to light up Seattle? No. I did expect them to move the ball and score more than 14 (and let’s be honest, 7 of em was because of a ST turnover). Backup QB or not, I expected more.
we scored 0 against SF. I too expected more than 14, but we didn’t get the ball a lot. SEA offense is built on eating clock (they are the slowest offense in the league) and when you’re letting RW hit 20 yd bombs consistently it’s not going to happen.
Teams that have beat the Seahawks have done it with ground and pound and ball control. That’s not what we are. I actually thought we’d match up better than them, but i was wrong. D was BAD 450yds is a bad game especially against one of the worst offense in the league.
I agree with everything except the D being bad. Lynch was held to under 4 yards a carry. 5.2 yards a play given up overall isn’t bad against anyone. 3rd down defense was the biggest area that should have been better.

because we’ll have to trade most of our draft picks and/or some good players to get high enough in the draft, which will kill our depth and leave us unable to fill holes we already have. Then Mariota also has to adjust to the pro game. It’s possible by the time he finally has everything down that Shady is toast.
I think players are fine aside from a DB or two and we have $20m for that.
OL has little depth.
ILB has no quality depth.
OLB has some good players but one either needs restructured or he’s gone. Another is in a contract year and who knows for sure (sorry Geagle, I still don’t think he’s coming back).
CB needs two or three starter level players.
And all of that is for THIS team. In two to three years, there will be other holes to fill. The cost of trading that far up is just too steep.

Yeah, both Seattle and GB showed us that. We’re not at that level yet. We need another draft and they have to fix the secondary. We also need a true #2 receiver.
I’d say we’re solidly #3 in the NFC. Unfortunately, we looked outclassed by both Seattle and GB.

Need either one of the QB’s on the roster to grow up quick or for a lower round pick to unexpectedly develop into a great QB. It can happen. Wilson is proof of it.
Clearly a second tier team behind the Packers and Seahawks, who are the NFC elite this year. Still, I’ll take our chances against anybody else in the NFC, and you never know when a fluke play/injury/etc. could open the door for you once you’re in the playoffs.
Of course I want to win the Super Bowl, but 11-5 with a division championship and a playoff victory would have to be considered a successful season all things considered. That is a very attainable goal.

Eli had benefit of bloodline. Rothlesburger won early on. Flake was about to be gone, but had the best year ever and all now plague that organization for 5 years.
Bloodline did not turn him into a Super Bowl winning QB. Does Casey Matthews have any Super Bowl rings? Roethlisberger goes through stretches of 5-6 games where he looks very mediocre from time to time. Same with Flacco. QBs will look bad for stretches. Our path to the Super Bowl is much shorter if Foles gets to develop.
I like Nick but he looked very shaky this year. Not just physically but it seemed his reads were off too. I hope he comes back and plays lights out but i’m not as confident in that as I used to be
I’m not down on him enough to give up on him and start from scratch with the 3rd or 4th best rookie in the draft or some journeyman like Brian Hoyer. Foles is the best option going forward and it’s not even close.

Yes, our offense looked a little better against GB, but it’s far more discouraging to me when our defense looks like the only way they get off the field is if the other team shoots themself in the foot.
