Kelly then shocked the world again by cutting Tebow today. After the Matt Barkley trade, most people felt Tebow had made it. Not so.
Per Kelly, Tebow simply wasn’t playing well enough to be the #3 QB. That’s certainly the way I saw it, but I thought Kelly was going to keep him around. I’m glad Kelly didn’t. This isn’t about being anti-Tebow. I just don’t see a player that is either good enough to play now or worth developing for the future.
The Eagles only have 52 players on the roster for now. They will add a QB, either to the roster or to the practice squad. Here is the team as it stands now:
QB – Bradford, Sanchez
RB – Murray, Mathews, Sproles, Barner
WR – Matthews, Agholor, Cooper, Huff, Austin, Ajirotutu
TE – Celek, Ertz, Burton
OL – Peters, Barbre, Kelce, Gardner, Johnson, Tobin, Molk, Kelly, Andrews

STs – Dorenbos, Parkey, Jones
The players cut today were Tebow, Martino, Maehl, Goode and D Watkins. Maehl is getting an injury settlement. Kelly mentioned that Goode was the final player cut.
The final roster spot will likely go to a QB, but the Eagles could add a position player and then go with a third QB on the practice squad. There are lots of rumors right now.
Josh Johnson was cut by the Jets today and could be of interest.
If the Rams cut Austin Davis, I think the Eagles could be interested in him. He certainly played well vs the Eagles last year and Kelly pays attention to that.
Forget any ideas of RG3 being the new guy. Sounds like the Skins are keeping him around.
Multiple sources tell me the #Eagles have interest in Christian Ponder. Team always maintained it's about putting together "the best 53".

Why him over Tebow, if that’s the case?
Ponder has 36 career starts. He has completed 60 percent of his passes. Tebow has started 16 games and completed 48 percent of his passes. Ponder is more experienced, a more natural QB and is a better athlete.
Ponder isn’t good enough to be a starting QB, but he could be an effective backup. Tebow made some nice throws in the preseason finale, but that just wasn’t enough. He still had issues with reading a defense and making decisions. Tebow just doesn’t process information as quickly as he needs to. QBs have to make decisions in a split second. Tebow doesn’t do that.
Before you get all fired up about “He sucks!!!” let’s remember that we’re talking about the #3 QB. That player is always going to have some flaw. If they were better, they’d be the backup or starter somewhere. In an ideal world, you would have a young QB to develop. The problem is that the NFL is severely lacking in young QBs. We’re seeing draft picks cut left and right. Just look at Matt Barkley.
The Eagles want to see who all comes available before they make a decision. They seem pretty flexible on how they fill the spot, but you know they have one or two guys they would prefer to get.

One year, I hope Chip says to the reporters that they put together the best 49 players, and 4 players to give you something to write about.
This blows… I was so excited about Josh Andrews because I thought adding him would mean the end of Molk which would make me shed tears of Joy… So disappointed that Molk is still here.. Going into a season with a QB with serious durability concerns and we kept a center who is too weak to not get thrown into Bradfords lap…. If Kelce doesn’t play 16 games this season I will be petrified… Heck if Kelce has to miss like two weeks to injury, we should bench Bradford til Kelce comes back in the lineup… Shame we can’t make A trade prying Heonis Grasu away from the Bears…

Backup Center and Lack of CB depth, my biggest fears going into this season
Molk played well for us in relief. That is why he is a back up. He isn’t as good as a starting center, or else he’d be STARTING somewhere. They have planty of depth at CB. Are you just trying to find shit to bitch about?

His athleticism means nothing to me because he sacrifices too much strength to be that athletic… Doubt you took the time to watch more then 10 Molk snaps last year, so I don’t expect to get anything out of interacting wth you… So good day sir… Go on your Merrt way accepting everything and anything without questioning it “9”
For me milk does not pass the eyeball test but who would be a major upgrade at all 3 interior spots and knows the playbook better?

THATS the Problem!! I watched Vandervelde and Moffitt closely all summer, and I wish I could, but I just can’t make a case for keeping Vandervele or Moffitt instead of MOLK, they were both really bad…. I didn’t spend any time watching Josh Andrews regretfully so When I saw that we signed Josh Andrews I got excited and thought he took Molks job… But they both made the roster and I’m not sure why Josh made the roster? Does chip think he can be called upon to play in an NFL game this year? Or did he only make the roster because chip is high on his potential and didnt want to risk losing him from the Practice squad?!

Unfortunately I can’t blame chip at all for keeping MOLK over Vandervelde and Moffitt….. But with the extra pick we got in the boykin trade, the barkley trade and the fact that chip cuts our 4th or 5th round picks a year, maybe two after Draftimg them, I am really really hoping we can Acquire a backüp center better then MOLK.. Trade for a better backüp if we have to, but Molk isn’t so talented that it’s completely out of the question finding a more talented Center then him in the scrap pile/waivers..

There aren’t a lot of great backup centers out there. Molk certainly has his limitations, but he’s serviceable. He’s also one of the few guys close enough to Kelce’s athleticism, so that you don’t need to change your offense.

After how he got thrown around last year, his entire focus this offseason should have been about adding bulk and strength.,and watching him closely this preseason, doesn’t seem to have improved much in that regard,. Giving up pressure up the middle is the worst type of pressure, having a weak center is normally a big enough concern, but to have a center that struggles to hold his ground with a QB trying to overcome knee onjuries scares the bejesus out of me.. Afraid a NT puts him on his ass into SAMs knee.,. Now Molk does come with some nice athleticism which has value in this
Offense, but I feel like we are sacrificing way too much strengths to get his athleticism… Just watch how common it is for him to pushes backwards. A center that struggles to anchor, blocking for a QB who is trying to comeback from knee problems is a scary thought,. If he has to come in a game and block for Bradford, I will be so afraid every time we pass..

Kelce hasn’t exactly been the poster Child for Durability since coming to Philly. backup Center is my #1 concern of this roster.. Probably rank my concerns
1) center depth
2) CB depth.. I’m a firm believer in rookie corners needing to spend year 1 on the bench, only playing ST… So rare to see a rookie corner that can make an easy transition to the NFL game and have a big rookie year.. As someone who would like to see corners we draft spend their rookie seasons on the bench, that leaves me with Maxwell, Nolan and BIGS as the only non rookie corners we have.. Think Chip the GM has done a fantastic job for the most part, but if I’m being honest, I felt much better about our CB depth
In July then I do Now…. Think it’s absurd to think we had so much Depth that we could afford to lose JaCorey, Watkins and Boykin in one month and not adding any corners.,

Hopefully their is still an ace up chips sleeve and we will sign or trade for another Corner… Or at the very least trade for a quality safety that allows us to move Walter or Jenkins to corner on 3rd

You’ve just described the opposite of Chip Kelly.
You have to change around the offense then. This one is predicated off reacting and throwing quickly with accuracy, not staring down one guy and firing it into the dirt.

I don’t disagree with your premise, but all you had to do was look at the Jets game to see Tebow in comparison to another running QB, Josh Johnson, who was quicker, faster and much more decisive than Tebow was.
If Tebow was worth an ounce of salt…other teams would be knocking on his door. I’ll judge Tebow by 32 teams not wanting him, or to loosely translate — he stinks…

Tebow in the game gives us a very small opportunity to win the game. That’s how I judge him.

Agreed… I think chip has done a fantastic job seeing the big picture and finding a balance between BUILDING a PROGRAM(long term) without sacrificing the present… He has managed to keep us competing for playoffs even while he was in the infancy phases of his program building… I will never agree with everything, but most of what I have disagreed with I ended up being ok with later when I better understood it.. There are still things I don’t agree with but for the most part, I can’t ask for more out of a coach/leader of the Eagles
I hated the Tebow signing. I didn’t understand CK decision to even bring him here. I get it, to take a look. You’d imagine though, he could have brought in other QB’s knowing Tebow was a long shot. I always give CK a ton of credit for being a genius, but the Tebow move, I’ll never understand. I’m glad he’s gone.

The one thing Tebow has going for him as a practice squad QB is he can mimick running QBs for our defense when they have to get ready to play someone like Russell Wilson or Kapernick… But Kinney also brings that to the table.

Re: the take-a-look, I get the impression that Kelly is considerably more deliberate in making player assessments than many other coaches. If there is a glut of players to be assessed, it makes it harder to be thorough on all of them. Folks are continually inferring consequences from EVERY word off Kelly’s tongue, and attributing deep meaning to every pedestrian decision he makes. Initially, like you, I thought bringing Tebow in was a ridiculous decision, and I expected him to be handed his walking papers shortly thereafter. Kelly gave him a fair chance, but many of us concluded he was delusional because we became convinced that HE was becoming convinced that Tebow was viable. Every year with Kelly, I am learning to wait before drawing any conclusions. He’s a trip.

That was my first reaction, but I think Tommy has a point. Whenever I hear the name I think about an awful 12th pick in the draft. But the dude can play the read option, is smart, and has a consistent 80 QB rating, entering what is typically a QB’s prime years.

All joking aside, hoping the players who didn’t make the Eagles roster have enough class to leave with their heads held high, without feeling the need to make some ridiculuos statement on the way out because I really appreciate the way our players went about their business this summer, worked hard, didn’t get in any trouble, didn’t bring any negative drama to the team, didn’t Embarress chip and this franchise,getting into idiotic fights durimg joint practoces like the trashy Undiscaplined skins team, even tho the classless,scumbag Ravens deserved a beating… This group of Eagles was all busjess this summer and I tip my cap to all the Eagles who were cut… Wish them well, wish them success, except de the ones I want on the Practice squad lol… And I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing any of these kids back next summer…

The only way Watkins or Reynolds doesn’t clear is if a team is safety desperate.

For those interested.
Rules on practice squad eligibility:
To be PS-eligible, a player has to meet at least one of the following criteria:
* player does not have an accrued season for free-agency purposes. A player gets an “accrued season” by being on the active roster for at least six games.
* player with 1 accrued season can still be signed to the PS if he’s been on the 45-player game-day roster for only 9 games.
NEW RULES:
* Each team can up to two PS players who have 2 accrued seasons of free-agency credit.
* A player with 2 seasons on a PS — i.e., six league weeks — gets a third only if the team has at least 53 players on its active/inactive list for entirety of that player’s time on the PS. (In other words, as soon as a team creates a roster spot, the guy on the PS is automatically released.)
Good stuff, but confusing enough that it will still be argued for each guy.

I’m not sure if I ever mentioned it here, but Chargers’ OG Jeremiah Sirles is a guy I wondered if we might have interest in. Our asst OL coach, our head strength coach, and Suls all were at Nebraska when Sirles was there. More of a power guy but has some athleticism too. The Vikings gave up a 6th to get him. Most relative unknowns like that only cost 7th round picks so that tells me that multiple teams had interest in Sirles.
I don’t know that we had 9 OL good enough to make the roster..

Wonder why Josh Andrews is here? Do they think he can handle playing in an NFL game THIS year? Or is he on the roster because they love his potential and don’t think they can get him on the practice squad without someone poaching him?

It would be awesome if we can get a Lineman off waivers who provides an upgrade from MOLK or Andrews… Obviously we are getting a QB who chip views as an upgrade… Be great if we can find a QB and two other players on waivers who are upgrades over what we have now….. And if you have to trade draft picks to get some Talemt in here improving our depth, so be it… WHY NOT trade for Talent if we just wipe our asses with 4th n 5th round picks wasting them on Kids who chip doesn’t think are worth investing in their development for more,then a season or two? Might as well trade 4th and 5th round picks for Talemt if chip is just going to continue and waste them anyway..
I suck at recognizing offensive line talent. With WRs and RBs, I can usually distinguish between inflated preseason stats when there are wide open holes and actually regular season playing ability. With offensive line, I don’t know enough to question the coach.
I actually don’t at all disagree with chips OL evaluatipns.. I can’t wait Til MoLk is no longer an Eagle, but I can’t make a case for keepimg anyone else instead of him… Trust me when I say I watched Vandervelde closely hoping he was good enough but as Much as I worry about Mollk and look forward to him no longer being an Eagle, I can’t honestly make a case for keeping Vamdervelde instead of him, so out of this pool of Lineman, unfortunately keeping MOLK is probably the right move… But this was the one position I was really hoping to see a trade or see us finding a more Talemted backüp Center on waivers.. Was hoping we could get an upgrade at backüp center trading away a 4th or 5th round pick….

As for Josh Amdrews, I didn’t watch him at all, so I’m in no position to offer any type of oppinion on the decision to keep him….

I think there are handful of players cut at other positipns that are better NFL players then MOLK, the problem is SOMEONE has to backup KELCE, and Vandervelde clearly isnt the answer…. so I can’t Blame chip for putting MOLK on this rster. He is the best backüp option we have,.. But I was really hoping to find a way to add more talent at Center that would be able to Usurp MOLK as the #2

Rare is a 2nd Rd pick getting cut after his rookie TC for performance (or any other reason).

Interesting. I commented during the game that I would trade Tebow and Barkley both for him, and Tommy was very positive in his post game review. It would be very cool if Chip came away impressed as well.

Created in part by getting rid of Mathis and Boykin too. I like this roster when they are healthy as much as anybody in the NFL but it isn’t hard to see the wheels coming off with 2-3 key injuries too.

Nah. I don’t see many teams having the upside potential of this team when they are healthy. Go as far as the OL and secondary’s health but each group is paper mache thin.

That was the narrative on Shep, that we had the steal of the draft. He had a hamstring injury during his 40 and ran a slow time. Kid never got beat deep in College. He was a Ballhawk.
I know thats why he is my favorite. His instincts when the ball is in the air are the best i have seen in my short tape watching career. Pretty sure he and Rowe were both top 5 in passes defensed for this draft.

Not really. I think Watkins not progressing enough killed our plans. Besides Maxwell, we pretty much have journeyman CBs starting for us.

yeah probably. Those Kansas CBs got no respect. His teammate across the field Dexter McDonald was taller and an even better athlete and I dont know if he even got a camp invite anywhere. He shut down Kevin White all game when they played WVU. If you check White’s stats, he had a big game. None of them came against McDonald. Just took advantage the few times someone else covered him.

Yeah, I think this is bogus. First off, this guy is a former baseball writer that doesn’t regularly cover football. Second, his timeline seems more about selling Chancellor than anything. Saying any team not picking in the top 15 should give up a 1st for Chancellor and that Chancellor is the best player in that secondary, not Sherman or Earl Thomas.

I remember noting during the 2013 Super Bowl that there was not a single penalty called on the ferocious LOB for helmet-to-helmet or other illegal tackling.

He was really raw when he was drafted, I would love to get him on our Practice Squad and łet Cory Undlin see what he can do with him over the course of the year… If Baptiste is ever going to make it in this league, he will need a really technical coach who will take the time to drill fundamentals and stress continuosly working on details of his technique….

Corners take time to transition to the NFL.. I really don’t understand Coaches wasting picks on Corners if they aren’t going to invest more then 1 year developing them.. If you don’t have the patience to deal with rookie corners and grow them, that’s fine.. But stop wasting draft picks on the 1st 5 rounds on coners and just get your corners in free agency if Thats the case.. big corner like Brandon Browner wasmt lighting the NFL up as a 24yr old.. I just don’t understand spending a 2nd round pick on a high upside corner unless you are going to give the kid 3-4 years to grow …. I’m sure part of it is on Stanley Baptiste too.. If you are that Raw of corner and wamt a team to keep develomg you, it’s up to you to at least make your mark on Special teams so they can justify being patient with you…

I know that everyone is sick of this saga, but Brady’s father is actually making the NFL’s appeal that much more credible. Calling the NFL Commissioner a “flaming liar” is akin to looters burning down their own neighborhood. It’s completely fair for a fan. but for an interested party it’s reckless and self-destructive, and why a court would endorse this as a right is a mystery to me.

In hindsight, it seems to me that Kelly and Roseman may have been fundamentally opposed in their draft strategies. Roseman loved to trade back and score multiple day two picks. Kelly is not finding much value in those picks.
I wonder if in the future we can expect Kelly to be more inclined to move up in the draft rather than move back.
Or trade current year picks for picks the next year, like his deal with Detroit turning a 2015 4th rounder into a 2016 3rd rounder.
As noted by others on Twitter, this doesn’t take into account Shephard, who by all indications would have made the team (probably over Biggers or Rice). I think that this was a bit of an attempt to paint a picture of “wasted draft picks” by Chip. I don’t think that’s accurate, partly because it’s based on incomplete data (as I noted), and partly because of what you say, because it’s an emphasis on philosophy.
From last year’s draft, we have Beau Allen and Taylor Hart on the roster. From this year’s draft, we would have had Jacory Shephard. When you take that into account, this supposedly telling statistic really reads as, “1 year out of 3, day 3 picks didn’t make the roster.” As I often say, these reporters can never seem to let facts get in the way of a shitty story.
And, as you allude, there’s another story going on here. Reid’s draft failures were in days 1 and 2 (kelce for example was the only player from his class to stick). Chip’s sort of appear to be in day 3. If given the choice, which days would you like your draft busts in? It seems to me that drafting well in the first few rounds is immeasurably better than drafting well in later rounds. Not mutually exclusive, but given the choice, I’d take Chip’s approach any day.

For PS, unless they see better options on the waiver wire, I like Bailey, Bunch, Mostert, Tomlinson and a QB to be named later on O, Evans, Mihalik, D. Watkins and J. Watkins on D; I have no interest in Reynolds; Pratt may be a good practice squad player but I don’t believe he will ever be active absent a wave of injuries to the WRs.
I agree if they make it although they may go with 2 OL according to Greg Richards teams like to carry 11 OL between roster + PS . I like Martino> Pratt if choice there but I don’t know that I care about 2 WRs if Bailey makes it to PS.
If the Eagles used the “Big Nickel” package, they can have their starting four in man coverage with Couplin playing back in center field. This seems to me in theory to be preferable to the Biggers Nickel. The inventor of the Big Nickel was Pat Shurmur’s uncle Fritz.

They’d likely be willing to take a conditional sixth- or seventh-rounder, just one year after GM Doug Whaley coughed up a fourth-round pick to acquire Brown from the Eagles. Never a coaching-staff favorite, Brown’s penchant for fumbling and bouncing runs outside has his NFL career in serious question.
We turned that into Detroit 3rd round pick next year which we can really use after the trade for Sam.

Who do you have interest in?
I’d like Austin Davis at QB. After that, the best fits are Lewis, Renner, and Ponder IMO. On OL, most of the guys I like aren’t great scheme fits. One guy who could potentially be an upgrade from Dennis Kelly is Austin Pasztor. There’s some intriguing OLB candidates but I don’t expect them to make a move there. Slim pickings at CB and S. There are a couple of guys that would be good nickel candidates in Tony Carter and Kevin White, but neither have the size that Chip likes. Josh Thomas played well with Minnesota(he’s bounced around league before) and was a surprise cut. He can play nickel or outside. Craig Dahl is the best veteran S option but I wouldn’t release Couplin for him. Maybe sign him to the 53rd spot we have open if they sign a QB to the PS instead of to the active roster.

I’m glad to see Rice and Couplin make the team. Think about this for the future if things work out. Rice, Couplin, Shepherd, and Rowe are all young and here for awhile if they pan out, and ready to step in if one of the starters goes down.
Obviously this is best case scenario, but gotta love the potential there.

TEBOW was never really realistic, ATleast not in the sense that was being talked about, gadget player, 2pt conversion specialist because chip has never dressed 3 QBs… Our 3rd string QB has to be a developing emergency option.. I would so much prefer signing a QB to our practice squad and using the roster spot for another position,,.. But that will depend on if the QB we like have PS eligibility left… Other then the QB the Eagles sign, be fascinated to see the “QB big board” of how they rank all the available QBs: Ponder, Dysert, Cassell, Logan Thomas, Austin and so on…

I never liked the idea of Tebow for two pt conversions when we have Marco and a QB who throw really good fade routes and backshoulder throws… But if we were going to use TEBOW as a gadget player a role that would have been interesting for TEBOW is a “Brad lidge” type “CLOSER” Role.. Say Bradford has us up 21 points with 8 minutes left, bring in the CLOSER and łet him Zone Read the rest of the way.. TEBOW doesn’t run the hurry up fast, so his slow poke hurry up is perfect to run the clock out with 8 minutes left… The first time we do it, teams won’t be prepared. Doubt they spent the week practicing in case we run Zome reads with our #3….Be awesome to be able to have Bradford take a bow, leave the game early, and just run zone reades with TEBOW and Demarco, Mathews and Sproles the rest of the way til we kill the clock…

For me the biggest surprise cut was Jaylen Watkins. Really didn’t see that coming, and figured he has the bloodline and everything. Guess not.
Bummer Najee didn’t make the team, he’s probably gonna get claimed.
I was looking at Austin Davis’ game log from last year and it reminded me the 2006 game log of a player I’m not comparing him to, but showed the same success/ failure pattern in his first year playing: Tony Romo. Davis was a year younger last year than Romo’s first playing time. Both had top performances in games 2-6. Then Romo had two bad games. Davis had three so-so games, not horrible but not good. Davis was then benched when the team had no chance for the playoffs, but Romo stayed in and had two of three good games afterwards to close out the campaign.
Again, they’re much different, but they’re both undrafted quarterbacks that came out of nowhere in games 2-6 and then had hiccups when the DCs had film on them. Romo was able to adapt to teams scheming against his strengths, while Davis hasn’t had the chance to do so yet.

I’d like Davis but his base salary for this season is $1.542M if they claim him on waivers. That might be too pricy for the Eagles tastes considering what they’re paying Bradford and Sanchez. Now if no other team claims him on waivers then maybe you try to get him for the minimum with incentives if he ends up playing.
Case Keenum and Sean Mannion’s cap numbers don’t add up to two thirds of that, which was in the minds of the Rams organization. That’s $600K more than what they would have paid Barkley, with no additional years after 2015. If he clears waivers, which the FO may have inside info on ahead of time, he’ll either want to play for Chip or he won’t. There are other options. If Chip is hell-bent they have the cap room.
I don’t get cutting to 52. Use that 53rd spot on one of the players you want on your PS and don’t want to risk losing on waivers. Then sign a QB and claim someone else and release the player later today. Teams will have begun game prep on Monday and will be less likely to want to bring in a new player. Now, I know that is selfish to the team perspective and Kelly might want to let the players he isn’t planning on being on the 53 have the opportunity to be claimed on waivers and make more $ elsewhere. When you’re in charge of personnel though, you can’t operate that way.
I was wondering whether they hand out a brochure to UDFAs and veteran journeymen about how many of them make the team and the considerate things they do. Also they may have been hiding Boyko and Bunche a little in preseason and if they didn’t cut Diaheem Watkins until after the QB was signed it would call attention to him.
Yeah, it can certainly be argued that by helping the players you’re improving your chance of getting good UDFAs in the future. Still, sometimes you have to do what is in the team’s immediate best interest even if it’s not what in the player’s.
I’d argue that it’s more in the teams interest to do right by waived players to insure a stead stream of the UDFAs you want than it is to try to hide one PS player and potentially generate ill will.
Agreed. I realize it is a game of inches, but the advantage gained by marginally increasing the chances of getting a guy to the PS, where the odds of him ever getting to the roster (let alone active, playing, and contributing) is insanely small.
From a cold, calculating perspective, I wouldn’t think it outweighs the team’s reputation. When you factor in that Kelly works with these men everyday, needs their trust, presumably likes them, and seems to value honesty and directness, it isn’t even close.
So, the verdict is in. I’m just an evil, selfish bastard.

The reason I had such a strong response is because I had the same thought last night and had a very similar internal debate to the one above. I decided I would rather be on this edge of the grey area than the other edge.
I never used to feel good about the yearly questionable IR placements that seemed to crop up right before cutdowns. I understood the thinking, but always wondered if we were talking advantage of young men chasing their dream.
It is also a “help wanted” or “QB wanted” sign. So maybe he’s trying to avoid wasting his time trying to fill a spot that he can only devote so much time to filling.
I can’t imagine why we would be interested for Kam Chancellor for that price tag. Dude’s a great player, but doesn’t appear to be a scheme fit.
Is that a real rumor? I can’t seem to find that anywhere. I do agree with you though Crack that it would make no sense whatsoever to trade any assets and shed out more money for a guy holding out for more money and is not a scheme fit at all.
And who says he doesn’t hold out again? I can’t imagine Chip reacting well to a holdout.

You’d have to think that any trade would be predicated on a renegotiated contract that Chancellor would be happy with. if he’s going to play on his current contract, he may as well play for the Seahawks. But not sure we can easily fit a huge signing bonus at this point (nor many teams).
But happy with it for how long? If a guy will hold out once, why not twice?

But yeah, if he’s the type to hold out whenever he falls out of the top 3 paid safeties, it could be an aggravation.

It’s not a real rumor. The columnist from the Daily News made it up in an attempt to be funny. Of course, professional reporters should know better than that.
I wouldn’t say shocked so much as relieved. Anytime you can make a multiple-page document, bullet-pointing reasons to do something (in this case cut Tebow) and a very short and contrived list to the contrary, the shocking part was that it seemed we were going to keep Tebow for so long there. It’s just good that it’s finally over.
for qbs i thought renner from bal looked really good but it’s hard to tell b/c every qb lights up our secondary.
Another reason why I’m skeptical of Austin Davis. I bet Barkley looked good against our secondary, too…

Wouldn’t count on #Eagles signing WR Rasheed Bailey to their practice squad if he clears waivers.
Caplan didn’t say whether this was Eagles’ choice or Bailey’s. From Bailey’s perspective, Eagles already have 6 WRs on active roster. There are other teams with as few as 4, and a lot of teams with only 5. Quicker path to 53-man roster with other teams.

Thats the draw to this team though right? Get on the Eagles squad in the summer, get a ton of reps, look good in preseason and go on to another teams 53. Good for him.

Dallas trading for former Seattle RB Christine Michael, per league source. Michael returns to Texas, where he starred at Texas A & M.
The guy has home run hitting ability but has been very inconsistent. Don’t think he can be trusted in pass protection either. Dallas has a good line though so theoretically he could do some damage if he gets on the second level.
He’s decent…more of a backup type. I liked that Rawls kid Seattle has (had?) better.

Not familiar with this guy. Thought there were better options available.
i remember him as a Hurricane, talented kid but never put it together. Pretty good athlete
very well known…good arm, athletic but very inconsistent. I disagree there were better options….other options yes, but he has talent and potential.
Okay, upside choice I guess. I also think they want their 3rd QB to be athletic to simulate guys like Kaepernick on the scout team.

Wonder if they’ll attempt to sign Jaylen Watkins to PS and if he would accept if they did.
would hope so, since he has shown coverage ability – needs to tackle better and make less mental mistakes but i think that can develop with time.
I personally doubt it. His whiffs were very bad.
Amazed no one claimed Goode, he is a decent ILB and i am sure is better than at least 10 LB’s on rosters at the moment.
4th year player, 4th year salary. Teams will go with youth as the backups until that youth bombs.
