Gameday – at WAS
Posted: October 4th, 2015 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 433 Comments »Weather will be a factor today. There is rain in D.C., but also some wind. I don’t know if that favors either team. We’ll have to wait and see.
Here are the inactives for today:
QB Thad Lewis
OL Julian Vandervelde
DE Ced Thornton
DE Taylor Hart
LB Marcus Smith
LB Kiko Alonso
S Chris Maragos
The absence of Maragos will affect the Nickel D. We’ll have to wait and see how Davis handles that. He’s also the team’s best STer.
You hate to see Smith inactive when he’s healthy.
DeMarco Murray will play. He will probably start. Let’s hope he can get going.
As for the Skins…
#Redskins inactives: Robert Griffin III DeSean Jackson Andre Roberts DeAngelo Hall Perry Riley Jr. Kedric Golston Tom Compton
— Master Tesfatsion (@MasterTes) October 4, 2015
That means CB Chris Culliver will play, despite being banged up. The Eagles need to test the Skins corners.

PREVIEW
After all the talk of when and where the Eagles-Skins game might be played, the hurricane did us a favor and everything will go on as planned. We can now actually focus on the game itself. Both the Skins and Eagles are hoping to get to 2-2 and move up in the standings.
One offseason move that didn’t garner a lot of attention, but should have is when Bill Callahan left the Cowboys to go to the Skins and become their offensive line coach. He knows how to develop offensive linemen and how to get a physical running game going. This can affect the whole team, not just the offense.
Glance at a stats sheet and you’ll probably be shocked to see Washington has allowed the second fewest yards in the NFL. They don’t have any dominant front seven players. They don’t have a shutdown corner like Darrelle Revis. They don’t have an elite unit on the defense. So how the heck is this group giving up the second fewest yards in the league?
Callahan and the Skins revamped run game.
Washington leads the league in time of possession (34:43 per game). Their defense has faced the fewest plays of any group in the league (164). They average being on the field for 55 plays a game. If you check out different stats, you can argue the Eagles are the better defense. Washington allows 5.1 yards per play. The Eagles allow 5.0 yards per play.
When it comes to making plays, the comparison isn’t close. Washington has four tackles-for-loss. The Eagles have 10. Washington has broken up seven passes this year. The Eagles have deflected 18 passes. The Skins haven’t picked off a pass yet. The Eagles have five interceptions. The Eagles also lead in sacks, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.
Washington is playing good defense, but that number two ranking is highly deceptive. You would expect that defense to be outstanding, not up and down. Washington is tied for third in the league in third down defense, a highly impressive stat. Opposing quarterbacks have a passer rating of 96.3 this season, one of the worst figures in the league.
Nose tackle Terrance “Pot Roast” Knighton is new to the team and has helped the run defense. He is massive and does a good job of clogging the middle. With him eating up blocks, the Skins have been tough to run on. Jason Kelce will have his hands full with trying to control Knighton. You aren’t going to push him off the ball very much, but Kelce can use angles and positioning to win battles and create space on inside runs. The Eagles had success last with with runs to the outside. It will be interesting to see if they continue to do that or try run more inside.
With inside linebacker Perry Riley out of the game, look for the Eagles to attack the middle of the field in the passing game to test his replacement, Will Compton. Zach Ertz and the running backs should get their share of passes, which is something the Eagles have tried all season long.
There has been a lot of discussion about Sam Bradford needing to throw the ball more downfield. That wasn’t going to happen last week due to the Jets outstanding corners. This week could be different. Chip Kelly has talked about how teams defend the Eagles differently than they did in 2013, which makes it difficult to throw the ball deep. Defenses can take away 50-yard bombs, but there are still throws in the 20 to 30-yard range to be had. Bradford hasn’t attempted many of those throws this year.
It would be a big boost to the offense if it could get more chunk plays. Last week the opening drive was largely aided by a Ryan Mathews 27-yard run. That’s one-quarter of the field in one play. You can’t expect big run plays very often. They are easier to get in the passing game. Bradford could be more aggressive in trying to get bigger plays. His receivers have to help him out by getting open and then catching the ball
There is no question that the wide receivers have to become a bigger part of the offense. Last week Jordan Matthews was the wideout to catch a pass. You aren’t going to win many games like that. Bradford has to get the ball to his receivers and they have to start making some plays. Matthews had his breakout game last year against Washington. Maybe the same will be true for Nelson Agholor this year.
The Eagles offensive line played their best game of the year last week. Unfortunately Andrew Gardner is done for the year. It looks like Matt Tobin will be starting in his place, assuming Jason Peters is good to go at left tackle. He got banged up late in the Jets game. Tobin has started at right guard before so this is nothing new to him. The line must have another good game. They need to build on last week.
The Eagles defense has gotten better each week. They have a big challenge this time out with stopping the Skins run game. Washington is fourth in the league in rushing. Rookie Matt Jones has been very impressive. He is 235 pounds and averages five yards a carry. He loves to run outside and is tough to stop when he gets going. The Eagles must set the edge well to keep him inside and limit his effectiveness. Alfred Morris leads the team in rushing and is as solid as ever.
Tackling will be critical in this game. Jones is huge so he is tough to bring down. Morris is thick and powerful. He is a physical runner that rarely goes down on first contact. Tacklers need to take good angles to the ball and then use proper form on these backs. Wide receiver Pierre Garcon is also tough to bring down. He is strong and fights for every yard he can. One thing that will help is if the Eagles rally to the ball. Multiple tacklers are always better than just one guy.
Washington will have a new left guard in their lineup. This is a matchup that Fletcher Cox must win. Cox will line up all over the place, but you can be sure Bill Davis will put him over left guard plenty of times to test the new guy out. Last week the Eagles didn’t blitz a whole lot since they knew the Jets liked short, quick throws. The focus was on coverage. Davis might be more aggressive this week.
Kirk Cousins has thrown four interceptions this year. He will force the ball into coverage at times. Walter Thurmond and the other defensive backs will have a chance to make some plays. Cousins doesn’t have great receivers to work with right now due to injuries. DeSean Jackson is out. Tight end Jordan Reed is Cousins preferred target right now. Reed leads the team in receptions and is a gifted pass catcher. The linebackers and safeties will have their hands full with trying to contain him. It would really help if Mychal Kendricks were able to play. He has the athleticism to match up with Reed.
Special teams is normally a big advantage for the Eagles. It could be this week, although the change at kicker makes this situation a bit of a mystery. Caleb Sturgis takes over for the injured Cody Parkey. Sturgis has a strong leg, but he has to prove he can be a consistently accurate kicker. Last week the Eagles got a huge boost from special teams when Darren Sproles had his punt return for a touchdown. The Skins had a kickoff return for a touchdown late in the Giants game. They also had a bad moment, allowing a blocked punt that resulted in a safety and helped the Giants build an early lead.
Getting to 2-2 would be huge for both teams. Washington has been a mess in recent years so getting to .500 in October would be good for them. Last year they were 4-12 and being 1-1 was the high point of the year. The Eagles still have high hopes for this season. A win today would help them to get back on track. The NFC East is wide open this year. The Eagles got their first win last week. Now they have to build on that.

Jets are kicking ass
Making us look good… someone has to
Tommy wrote that WAS doesn’t have many tackles for loss, but they haven’t played us yet! 🙂
Lol, definitely a glass half empty guy?
Dolphins beat WAS in week 1, so that too
I’m kind of surprised the Dolphins have a win. They look AWFUL.
Yeah they do. The OL has been horrible for them, and surprisingly their DL has been equally just as bad. Suh has been a huge disappointment and Wake has been very quiet so far.
I really thought the Dolphins would be a playoff worthy team this year.
MIA beat WAS, NYJ beating MIA, we beat NYJ. By the transitive property of football, we are two orders of magnitude better than WAS.
And the transitive property of football always holds true.
What’s that now? LA-LA-LA I can’t hear you LA-LA-LA.
Nice to see that they do have some offensive firepower. Makes our D effort even more impressive.
Smith has to not telegraph his go route so much. He doesn’t do much to make the CB think he may do something else. I guess in college he was just used to burning someone with his speed. Harder in the NFL. Pick last week in a go route by Rowe and another this week by a Dolphins CB. The defender is slower but can make a play on the ball because he knows exactly what to expect.
Marcus Smith inactive again even with our less than loaded OLB position…..
Feels like we’re collectively whistling past the graveyard.
Yup
I can understand not seeing the field as a rookie last year but this is ridiculous. Outrageous even.
Regardless of how you feel about the draft pick, and I liked it, and I like Marcus Smith, there’s no way to spin this as a good sign.
He may still get it together, but it’s becoming increasingly less likely.
Doesn’t mean he won’t. But this isn’t good.
Could become a good water boy. Everyone has their niche.
Especially with the lack of depth at OLB.
Wow. On any level, how is that a good sign? Is he on the 3 year plan to eventually catch on?
Yes, his mom’s happy. At least he won’t get a concussion.
Lol not If he is financially assisting her, because at this rate his NFL career may not be that extensive.
Yeah. I had hope for him this season but clearly I was wrong.
Sturgis just banged an extra point off the upright
We’re going for 2 every time.
Wind caught it.
If the wind is that strong, I doubt we see any downfield passing from Bradford today.
Probably not as bad at field level
Maybe it was an ally-oop? Like when the point guard toss a ball up off the backboard instead of taking the layup. Did Bair follow and dunk it over the crossbar?
You’re saying we should be calling up Mark Simoneau?
Scary. Cody Parker can possibly prove to be the most hurtful injury of the season, possibly devastating.
This is not ideal kicking conditions, especially for someone that might have some in game rust.
The Jets are doing everything they can to lose to Miami.
FWIW Spuds predicts a big game for Agholor
put me in with spuds
I think he will definitely be getting open on a consistent basis, but I’ll wait to say he will have a huge game simply because of Bradford and to a lesser extent the weather.
Eagles have 14 dropped passes: 5 by Ryan Mathews, 3 by Jordan Matthews, 2 by Sproles and 1 each by Agholor, Murray, Cooper and Austin.

If you add the DB drops in there, we have around 24.
Specifically Jenkins. He played very good last year and so far even better this year. If he could actually catch he probably would have been a Pro Bowl safety last year and this year. He has dropped at least 2 easy ones this year.
I think his coverage this year, especially when he moves up to slot has been really exceptional.
Thurmond is playing safety like he has played it his whole life. Great move by Chip and Billy D to move him there.
Carroll has been an improvement over Williams and Fletcher. I knew Maxwell would not live up to that contract, but even knowing that he has been a bit of a disappointment to me. Hopefully he starts to turn it around. Carroll looks like the better CB right now.
That’s atrocious.
No, just bad.
wonder if any coaching decisions come over the bye week for Miami
No secret but most of staff and coaches hated Lazor while he was here. They were more than happy he got the gig in MIA

that could be part of it, the other part is the fact their o-line makes ours look exceptional….also just seems to be a general malaise of laziness about that team…not a fan of some of their players
Maybe we could trade them Marcus Smith for their kicker.
Caleb Sturgis attempts the 55-yarder… and doesn’t get very close to making it. http://twitter.com/JoshPaunil/status/650716258585985024/video/1

wind or he just stinks?
Please tell me its windy in Landover, MD.
About 15mph
For the love of all that is sacred, would someone please donate some neck to David Diehl?
i hate sturgis just by looking at him lol
Guess we know which way the wind is blowing
is David Diehl the one who married Coughlin’s daughter
Hey there it’s Brandon Bair
Looks like we paid the officials again. Way to go Chip!!!
or maybe that’s Howie’s new role. Explains why they won’t talk about it much.
In a fair world, Washington would be penalized each drive for wearing that pink and maroon combo.
Wow
There’s that Eagles 3rd and long D I know and love.
Shit
first time they’ve converted a 3rd and +10 all year.
thurmond missed a tackle on that play.
Walter Thurmond badly missed tackle on 3rd and long run. He’s a ballhawk but liability elsewhere.
Brandon Bair with ANOTHER batted pass.
Bair another batted pass. The new JJ Swat?
Now they need to move past it and get the stop.
#Bairclaw
Scratch, that it was Beau Allen on the batted pass.
Beauclaw?
So bad
Jesus, they overcome 2 penalties on the first drive and now look like going in to score.
Getting at least 3.
You can’t run on us in conventional D but 3rd and long teams are guaranteed at least 10-15 on those draw plays.
Good tackle by Biggers there.
So, our defense was unable to defend the wheel route? Maybe we should run that in practice…
Well they see it in practice, but Bradford isn’t able to hit the RB.
This is bad defense.
Biggers anticipated where Morris was going on that flat throw. Good play, must have been film study.
Time of possession anyone?
No thank you.
The only good part of our defense is our base D run defense. Everything else is pretty gross still.
Malcolm Jenkins with the stop.
Third down, hold you breath time.
Again, our rushing D is very strong in conventional situations, everything else on D is kinda stinky.
Yep. Wet fart kinda stinky. Not clear the room awful, but malodorous and a change may be needed.
MSII not even being active man… Just brutal. That’s clearly not the change we needed.
That tells me the experiment is over. Cut bait. Move on.
There goes half a quarter
There was a tweet from the Eagles Insider showing Ryans’ and Hicks’ gear with the caption Mufasa and Simba.
As frustrating as that was, hold on to your anger, you’ll likely need it more in a bit when the offence takes the field
Should be an adventure. Sam Bradford with wind? Hooooh boyyy…
Wind won’t effect 5 yard dump offs much.
True, our -5 to 5 yard passing offense should be intact, so likely no interceptions.
I don’t expect it to last long though.
Show me we can run the ball.
Have we been able to return a kickoff yet this year?
No, Other teams have good kickers
Would have been stupid to try that one
I agree, but it’s more of a general question of whether or not we’ve run one out yet.
Pretty sure we have, but not any good return I can remember
15 dropped passes now
Way too low
Drops just plaguing this team.
Not a great throw, not a good catch. Again receivers and bradford not helping each other.
Good start
That didn’t take long.
Wow. We are just brutally bad.
Tobin beaten for the sack.
Sucktastic.
jeebus
donnie jones team MVP
May we fire Chip now???!!!
another impotent eagles drive…
3 and out. 35 seconds time of possesion.
Who knew we’d already miss Andrew Gardener 3 plays into our first drive? Jesus Christ.
Over/under. First downs in first half = 2.
Offense off to a blazing start…as in a fart-on-fire blazing.
Bradford dropped back too far, making it real hard for Peters. Not that it mattered in the end when the interior collapsed too.
Rowe is in the game for injured Maxwell.
Did no one read the scouting report about Jordan Reed?
Bennie Logan is unreal
Depressing start.
You’re not used to this yet? No worries. You’ve got 12 more games this season to adjust your expectations.
Bennie Logan is a beast.
Question is, can we go 3 and out before the quarter ends?
im going to say yes
Some dropped passes would help here.
Kendricks and Maxwell injured… Probably should have let Kendricks heal for another week. Maxwell quad new injury. Lovely.
This is the middle of the end for Chip Kelly. Fun to watch. At least the next coach will hv e adefence to work with.
F u and your comments.
you mad bro?
Please don’t feed the trolls.
Please Chip, give the D a rest and win some 1st downs!
win some 1st downs? nobody has EVER said that before
can’t wait for the kickoff and another commercial
just like our defense
see, who says they don’t get a rest?
Is it sad that I’m hoping for one first down
Bair out for the rest of game…groin injury
Ouch
Love Bradford’s eye rolls. Those are the eye rolls of a true leader.
Id be rolling my eyes at that joke of an offensive line as well
Injuries are starting to mount for the D.
Im hoping Peters goes down so maybe CHip gets fired at the Bye week like I predicted.
Uncalled for. No wishing injuries. Period.
Just ignore him. He is like that 10 year old that craves negative attention.
I was right
Go be an asshole somewhere else
WTF was that?
Is he allowed to go that direction?
That does not compute
No seriously. on that 2nd play. Skins had 6 in the box and we threw??!!!! WTF?
not sure if thats on chip or sam for not audibling.
I was wondering the same thing. F***ing stupid and unprepared team is just infuriating.
I didn’t think he was allowed to audible, that’s one of the complains I’ve read about the offence
If our receivers can’t get open against this secondary, we’re in trouble.
I want Nick back.
How about Andy?
Still really believe in Chip.
Nick-olas Cage?
why is our line retarded.
That didn’t land in end zone?
On the plus side, Bradford showed some mobility.
Nice, we doubled the outside rusher and let Kerrigan come free through the middle. Was that Dennis Kelly? Are we rotating RG’s midgame?
Peters was out possibly? So lots of shifting positions
Good punt coverage
Asking a lot, but cooper was wide open
this offense would not look better with sanchez.
This reminds me of being sure there was going to be a snowday so you don’t do you homework and turn your alarm off. Then school wasn’t canceled.
this reminds me of poop on a stick
It’s more like mudd butt. It just doesn’t stop. ..and it hurts Dx
at least our d is getting a rest
more ref conferences please.
come on now offense. stop being terrible.
the stupidity has spread to sproles.
Actually thought he made the right move but late. Would’ve been a catch in traffic – recipe for a muff.
He made the playbut you have to wrap up on that open field tackle.
It was Walter Thurmond so I’ll settle for him just getting the guy on the ground.
Yep. Carroll was beat off the line pretty good too.
whatever the opposite of total football is, that’s what we’re playing. All 3 phases taking it in turns to screw up.
i mainly blame the offense. it should embarrass chip.
same shit another day.
Ah that’s more like it
This is terrible.
refs to the rescue.
Bailout flag
easy call there
About time the refs earn their extra pay.
Yessss I’ll take the 1st down any way I can get it.
Hahaha
Sam is so gun shy. Can’t pull the trigger
holy cow positive yardage on first down
The offense is so exciting
Our offense has no idea what it’s doing.
Murray gets caught running backwards way too often. I know we are trying to get away from the East and West running of McCoy, but isn’t that better than South?
This is putrid.
Sannnnnnncchhheeezzzzzz
Can he play offensive line?
No, but he will throw the damn ball. WRs are open. Bradford either just isn’t seeing them or refusing to throw.
OL sucks even worse than before
Imagine how this is going to look when we play a good team.
I’m looking forward to our meetup with New England.
For whatever reason, Allen Barbre was looking behind and let the defender go for the tackle.
/me barfs
The worst thing is that we haven’t really neglected offense skill positions, but the WRs are playing like shit today.
offense is garbage.
This is almost worse than the Dallas game. What the fuck is going on out there.
Almost?
Complete trash. Bradford is just a joke. You cannot tell me he isn’t missing receivers down the field. You HAVE to bring in Sanchez.
If they can’t block, they have nothing.
Go to the bullpen kelly
Why do the replays keep showing open receivers?
Bradford needs to throw the ball. If you know you don’t have much time, which the sacks should tell you. Throw the ball to somewhere the river might be able to make a play or throw it away.
You want him to throw it into the river? I know auto correct.
I’ll take it over the sacks, not that it matters anyhow.
Trying to laugh in the face of this nonsense.
He has plenty of time. He’s just not a quick read QB.
Defense has to score
And that’s why offensive players shouldn’t have dreads.
Make them pop out dreads so the defender is left with a handful of hair
what happened to carrol
Who is the play-by-play announcer? He is utterly awful.
dick stockton
i think
Wow. All. Freaking. Day. No pass rush
Thurmond
Fatigue is going to be a big factor. We have 0 depth on the defensive line currently. Not much in the secondary. and ILB was thin to start.
We are so bad
It’s starting to get real ugly
I cant believe I am saying this, but its time for Sanchez to get a shot
yep
this is horrible. Eagles have given up in the second quarter!
jesus! screw this team.
Cousins sets his feet and gets off a better throw, that’s 6.
Yep. Triple coverage isn’t really useful if all threw deglfenders are to one side of the WR
i think my optimism has been tapped.
Fuck it. I’m going to bed. Can’t watch this.
Yeah Rowe held down his arm, legit call.
Dawkins jersey in the stands.
welp this game is over. When shit like that happens, it’s just not your day.
Wow… this is demoralizing.
was not in
I cant remember being so dissapointed by this team before.
you didn’t watch 2005 then?
This is far worse. We knew things wouldn be good when situps started doing his thing.
I dunno, coming off a season where we were within a drive of winning the SB made it extra hard to stomach.
we knew 05 would suck because of all the TO garbage. I think everyone had high expectations for this team.
You people are all thinking just recent history. No one has yet mentioned Kotite or Marion Campbell, for example.
A new Eagles fan, then? Welcome to the family. Hard alcohol is to the left. Anti-depressants are on the right. Make yourself comfortable.
his butt was down
On the plus side, we get the ball… oh wait .. shit
Is professional sports team tanking contagious? Sixers, Phillies, and now the Eagles?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an offense worse than this one.
This isn’t hyperbole. It is true.
This OL is pretty terrible….we need to sustain drives…just terrible…
Kirk Cousins >> Sam Bradford
That is all you need to know.
As much as I really hate to say it, it’s time to Sanchize
With the protection our line is providing, it doesn’t matter.
Bradford is playing scared too. Refuses to throw into a tight space and let his WR/TE make a play. No faith they will get open either.
Stunk worse than I ever thought was possible to date.

My liver isn’t going to survive this season.
Does your liver line up in our backfield too?
Yup and all the alcohol I’m putting away is the opposing defense.
Hey on the plus side there’s still 12 more games of suffering to go!
Wait… Nevermind…
Stuck up in western canada…trying to stream the game. The television coverage of the nfl consists of raiders game. Site I’m using lags bad. Any help? Know a good site?…I want to watch them stink it up too
Consider yourself lucky.
Canadian beer works better than our O line does, that’s for sure
Everything works better than our O line.
How long you going to be up there? You might get to see some of our guys in the CFL.
Long enough to know that our boys could probably use some bc lions
what a fucking catch
Wow.
It’s a miracle!
WTF?
LOL.
/me rubs eyes.
oh wait, mere illusion.
Good feelings gone
that is this year in a play.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
HAHAHAHAHA!
Dafuq
Agholor is this year’s Huff.
So, Bradford is perfect on deep throws.
#silverlining
1 for 1 through 4 games! Hand that man a contract!
They score a TD this drive and it is Game Over
you can only laugh at this point. this team is snake bit.
I find myself laughing a lot so far this year…
how many dogs did chip kick this offseason to deserve this
Let’s see. There was McCoy, Mathis, and Maclin to start.
Omg..is this for real?!
Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.
That’s worth 2 thumbs up for an appropriate use of an Airplane! reference.
Fuck chip Kelly.
Seriously. Fuck chip Kelly. That tucking joke.
Sums up the game so far:

Chip Kelly please go back to college to inept P.O.S.
our offense = sproles.
Jeff Laurie sell the team to Jerry jones
Jesus where would this team be without Darren Sproles. Holy shit.
Need to make sure we cut him in the offseason.
Team MVP making a big play.
I’d rather be a cowboys fan
Reported
Get the fuck out then. Go away
Ok. Go away and die. Thank you.
What’s stopping you
Agreed.
With comments like that we’d rather you were a Cowboys fan, too.
Sproles needed to take that to the house.
big mistake on his part.
Clock management. He didn’t want to put the defense back out there.
Like I said…
Need a TD this drive. FG isn’t going to cut it.
I will cheer more when Bradford lays lifeless on the field like Michale irvin
Grow up and sod off.
too much
FUCK YOU
dude you sound like a fucking baby, get a life and stop trying to find all your joy in the work of other men
Reported and I invite my fellow Eagles fans to hit that flag on the right, too. Asshole.
I wonder what it feels like to cheer and be happy while watching football….
c’mon birds. touchdown here and you’re back in it.
matte = eaglesfanq?
Nah just see the light
QB league strait up
Signed in with the wrong account
Been so positive. Done with this B.S.
the fact you’re still here suggests that’s a lie.
How many people have said that to you in your personal life?
Who gets the ball to start second half, missed the beginning of game?
We do. They won’t get to touch the ball until 14:30 left in the 3rd.
I can’t wait for the Sixers season.
No QB = no chance
Like your chances of being with someone who loves you.
Exactly
here comes inside zone!
Makes sense because the outside zone through 4 ga Es hasn’t worked so well
I miss Andy Reid.
I miss Donovan McNabb
Who should we get with our top 3 pick?
and no 2nd round pick
the only TD bradford will throw will be negated
Seriously, Sproles is the ONLY positive thing on this offense
looooool my god, this is ridiculous.
Ugh.
This is unbelievable.
Actually, that’s the worst part. Given what we have seen from the Chipper offense over the last 8-9 games, its VERY believable.
screen to sproles coming here.
Donovan McNabb is our best QB in team history…..great.
Dude I’m sorry your mother didn’t love you but GO AWAY
You know that isn’t his name, right?
Wow
That 4-12 eagles team a few years ago would mollywop this 2015 team
Throw the fucking ball!!!
Throw the f************ Ball
Maybe Bradford will get going in the 4th quarter with 5 minutes left when the game is already out of hand
here comes sturgis to miss a FG
Can we at least get a missed fg here.
Called it!
Play for the FG
Play for a *makeable* FG more like. Or not.
THERE ARE NO MAKEABLE FIELD GOALS!
Go Birds!
Being an Eagles fan is like being terminally ill.
have about as much of chip kelly’s “vision” that I can stomach.
LOL. Classic.
You bum.
Absolutely disgusting….Matthews was open and the OL can’t hold up….and we missed the FG….#bringbackhowie…..
That’s a good job signing a kicker with a 77% career average.
Yep. Time to crack the Double IPAs.
It’s really fucking sad, when I know for sure that my man, Joe Webb, would be a better player for this Eagles offense.
It’s really fucking sad that I agree with you O.o
And it gets better
Holy crap bradford looks useless
Eli looks smarter in general
Can’t take anymore. This is the worst team in football, without question.
Cut our losses, bench Bradford, give up a 3rd instead of a 2nd.
TD there and you go into the 2nd half to regroup & hopefully eek out a win.
Eagles aren’t scoring 20+ pts in the 2nd half. Not today.
Murphy’s law happening
gotta bench bradford
Bradford plays like he’s afraid of everything.
I love that throughout the preseason people wanted to argue how talented this team was. BARF
Steve spurrier 2.0
The Eagles looks like the worst offense in football for the fourth consecutive week. Its complete team failure. Which means it has to fall on the coaching staff. I can’t feel any differently about it.
Most calls are knee jerk to bench the QB but I have to think Kelly is seriously thinking about it.
Watching the season eek away by a guy who simply has turtled & isn’t rallying anyone. You can see it in their body language. Unsure and tentative.
I understand all the calls for Sanchez, but being honest about things, where does Sanchez get us? He isn’t going to lead this team on any kind of playoff run. He may very well be better than Bradford, but we know Sanchez’s ceiling isn’t good enough.
yeah, but how much worse are we with Bradford at the helm? We do know Sanchez’s ceiling, and it’s currently higher than what Bradford is offering us right now.
Agreed that what Bradford is providing right now is less than what Sanchez would provide if playing at his ceiling. My argument though is what is the end game benefit? Winning a few extra games to get nowhere doesn’t do us any good. With Bradford, as crazy as it may seem, there is still some untapped potential. We néed thay potential to be realized and it is getting harder and harder to believe it will be, but that’s the only way in my mind that this team goes anywhere this season.
So i guess my question to you is, what’s your definition of “nowhere”? My thought is that the defense and special teams (not including Sturgis) has played well enough to get us to the play offs with even mediocre QB play. Will Sanchez win us the super bowl? No, but can he get us into the playoffs? I think he can given the state of the NFC East. And that experience is so important for our young players.
DIdn’t see this until just now, so it’s a bit delayed. That being said, to answer your question, first of all, I’m not a fan of just backing into the playoffs just to be there mindset. It’s a personal opinion of course, but in my opinion, making the playoffs BECAUSE the NFCE is bad rather than because we legitimately earned a spot doesn’t really give you playoff experience. How many teams have we seen just back into the playoffs one year to end up being nowhere near the playoffs the following year? And even for the teams that do manage to get there a year later, are they really building off of that previous years playoff experience or are they building off a full season’s worth of play?
To add to that, backing in due to a weak division also has the potential to hurt you. By making the playoff, you lose draft position based on record, and for a team that backs in from a bad division, that can mean a pretty significant swing in draft position. Considering the last couple seasons we have complained about just missing out on a guy in the draft, I think that’s important.
Lastly, just to be clear with my opinion on Sanchez, I think people forget how mediocre he was last year. He is still turnover prone and while at his ceiling he can win a few extra games, I don’t think he will regularly play at his ceiling. I don’t believe that this team is a 10 win team all of a sudden with Sanchez in instead of Bradford. So I don’t think we really gain all that much.
no but sometimes you are so desperate you simply look to see if the other guy can provide a spark. They are at that point right now.
WE ARE AWFUL
So after yet another half, I say Chip must go.
We are about to contend for the worst team in the league.
is there a competition?
Fire him after 4 games? No. That is ridiculous.
This is game #37.
You don’t fire a guy 4 games into a season after giving him all of the keys to the kingdom. He also has 2 years left on his deal.
I get that. He’ll get the season. Just saying, I’d rather Jeffie-poo pull the plug after this season. its that bad. Chip must go.
so far he’s won 21 of those 37.
And is that trend line going up or down?
My prediction that Chip is fired at the bye week is looking more and more likely. He is so out of his element. They are horrible and it is all chips fault.
I agree
110%
Not Lurie’s style. Chip will get the season. I predict he bolts for U Texas.
Him and MattE are trolling
Reported . Troll
So, the Eagles are out scoring my fantasy team. Foster fumble, Taylor interception have me at -1.82.
it’s a waste of a defense that has been surprisingly decent.
They can’t get off the Field. The reason you think they are good is cause you are comparing them to the offense.
They had their share of problems again including coming out, struggling, and giving up big plays.
Bradford should have retired
Rocky ain’t real
Has anyone else been looking at 2016 NFL mock drafts yet?
Is there a fan team draft too? Can I re-do at this stage in life? Cause it’s like rooting for a 1 legged man….
Bye Felicia
You can change teams whenever you want.
I think this would be an excellent time to go do some research.
The offense is really holding back a good defense and ST.
EXACTLY!
An average offense and this team is at worst 4-1
I have 387 channels showing NFL games. 385 are playing Bills at Giants. New York media bias. The remaining 2 channels are covering Kansas City at Cincinatti!!?? Anyway, is it halftime yet?
Yes check the internet you schmuck
You know this conversation is on the Internet?
Exactly my point you dumbfukc
Your point was that Mags should have checked to Internet to get the answer instead of getting the answer by checking on the Internet?
Actually, nevermind. My interest in reading you vulgar, nonsensical response deflecting attention from your lack of thought in your rush to be insulting is even smaller than my interest in the rest of you comments.
How can ANYONE have confidence in Chip Kelly after this. It is a total debacle. It is OK to give up on Chip Kelly. You don’t Even have to admit you are wrong tommy. You been sipping that koolaid for qay ttoo long Tommy. I was the only one trying to straighten you out Tommy
Are you pleasuring yourself right now? You have some really odd deviant arousals.
I am pleased to be hated and right. That’s pleasing
Agolhor plays are such a good illustration of the eagles. One handed catch = preseason, fumble= regular season
He sucks. Howie would not have let him be drafted there.he had third round grades.
Can we try sanchize
We are wasting Jason peters last years in the league…the OL depth or lack thereof has caught up with us….ohh yeah pretty sure lane Johnson will not be a LT in this league….
Ha remember when lane Johnson was gonna light it up this year because of his mma workout?!?
We should have drafted Derek Carr in 2013 and traded Foles for a 2nd round pick. Sam Bradford should have retires
Hindsight is perfect.
We should have got Bruce Arians this garbage would not be goin down.
I feel like a Jaguars fan except that I actually care.
Expecting the Eagles defense to force a turnover or two and hold the Skins to 7 pts or less in the 2nd half is asking an awful lot normally. They had their share of injuries too in the 1st half too.
To be right and to be hated. To know you dumb fucks read this and get mad. It is all so pleasing.thank you idiot Chip Kelly koolaid drinking asshats
They should just go with Sanchez he knows the system and has the balls to go deep
Tommy, I don’t know how you’re going to write a positive review about this game.
