Panther Talk
Posted: October 24th, 2015 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 259 Comments »I heard someone in the national media talk about how this game is going to be a referendum for the Eagles. They might now be 3-3, but haven’t really beaten anyone so this is their chance to prove they are for real.
This is the kind of dumb analysis I hate.
The Panthers are 5-0, but they have played the weaker schedule. The Eagles have been tested by good teams almost every week. Dallas might be 2-4 now, but the Eagles played them when they had Tony Romo and looked good. I agree the Eagles need to prove they can keep winning, but I don’t buy the “Eagles are finally facing a good team” angle.
I do think the Panthers are a good team. Cam Newton is healthy and is playing much better than last year. Their O-line is worlds better. Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis are impact LBs. This will be a good test for the Eagles.
But the flip side is just as true. The Eagles will be a good test for the Panthers. The Eagles have won 3 of 4 games and look like a hot team. They have had at least 20-point leads in 3 of the 4 games and have had 4th quarter leads in all the games. The defense is playing better than they have in years and the offense has woken up. If Carolina wins, they will earn it.
One of the keys to the Eagles hot streak is winning the line of scrimmage. The Eagles DL might be the best in the league. The O-line seems to get better each week. Jason Peters is coming off the best of the season and when he’s at his best, the whole line is that much better.
I think this is another game where the Eagles can win the LOS. If they do, they have a great chance to hand the Panthers their first loss.
Carolina wants to run the ball. They lead the NFL in rush attempts. Newton only throws the ball 31 times a game. The Eagles have a very good run defense. They can play a lot of base defense and load the box. I’m more comfortable with that than when teams spread the Eagles out and throw the ball. I would rather see the base defense than Chris Maragos and E.J. Biggers, no offense to those guys.
Cedric Thornton has played the last two weeks, but hasn’t been himself. In previous years, he was an outstanding run defender. He could 2-gap as well as any of the DL and made his share of plays behind the line. Thornton wasn’t a pass rusher, but he made a difference in the run game. This year Thornton has been okay on run defense, but hasn’t stood out.
Thornton had a broken bone in his hand. It can be tough to 2-gap with a banged up hand. Hopefully every week the hand will improve a little and Thornton will get better overall. If he can start to click, this DL could be scary good (for a 3-4 bunch).
Sunday night will be a challenge for the fellas up front. Something tells me they’ll be ready to go and will give Cris Collinsworth plenty of good things to talk about.
ILB
DeMeco Ryans was dealing with a hamstring injury this week, but I would be shocked if he didn’t play. Mychal Kendricks told folks in Charlotte he would be on the field on Sunday night.
We know Jordan Hicks will be out there. He’s been the best ILB this year and will have a chance to make a lot of plays vs the Panthers. Ryans and Kendricks should both play. Kendricks gives the Eagles an athletic player to add to the middle of the field. Ryans is a terrific inside run defender. You want him out there in a game like this.
No idea when Kiko Alonso will return to the field. After the bye, maybe?
The emergence of Hicks has really made ILB a good position even with all the injuries.
Random Stuff
Over the last three weeks, opposing punt returners have averaged 24 inches per punt return against the Eagles.

The #Panthers have yet to beat a team with a winning record, something the #Eagles have accomplished twice.

_
They have had to play the Jags, Bucs, Saints, Hawks and Texans……… We’ll be ok this week.
If I was worried about the other team being good instead of the Eagles being bad, this would help.
Of course if we beat them the narrative will go from: “we’re so screwed we can’t beat a tough undefeated team” to “oh they just suck more than us”
Too bad the Jets accidentally brought their JV squad to our game, would have been a nice test.
Fantasy help please! Bradford vs CAR, Foles vs CLE, Flacco vs AZ or Hoyer vs MIA. I want to have faith in Sam and roll him out there but idk if I’m setting myself up for failure.
Im runnin with Sam on a hunch. But im a homer…
You think he can throw at least 2 TD’s on this CAR Defense?
Yes. Not saying he will but i think he can.
ESPECIALLY if we get ground game going. Sproles or Mathews?
He might throw 2 TD’s to the CAR defense.
Roman Harper’s old ass is a pigeon in pass coverage.. Ertz better abuse him and step up to the challenge with Olsen on the other team..
..
Jordan Mathews dominated both Panthers slot corners last year.
..
Last time sproles played in Carilinas division two years ago, he had a monster game catching balls against keachly..
..
I’ve run with Sam on a hunch for 6 straight weeks…hasn’t come to fruition yet. So I’m starting Rivers. That means Sam will throw 5 TDs by half time … Book it!
gives you a pretty good idea of market value of sam’s performance
Taking the homer element out of things; I kind of like Hoyer today.
Miami is a badly flawed football team. They’re walking around all kinds of swole because they slapped around a really bad Titans team……..but they’re still not good. The new coach effect only lasts so long.
I know Houston has been hot trash, but I don’t have the type of respect for their D that I do for Ron Rivera’s in Carolina or Arizona’s.
Also, Foles should have rather limted passing attempts today; it’s Gurley’s day for a 200 yard 3TD outburst.
I agree with this. Maybe Foles, but he’s too inconsistent.
Bradford – we don’t know if he’s going to keep throwing bad INTs
Foles – Are you getting TO Foles or look- like-Montana Foles?
Flacco – That offense is struggling and AZ does have a good D
Hoyer – Seems like the safest bet
Words none of us would utter very often.
Thanks!
Thanks Mike! That helps alot. Hoyer it is!
Best of luck to you.
Can’t stop watching this.

I’m weak… he threw that guy out of the club
I’ll see that and raise you one

When did Nate Allen enroll in Washington and start wearing 14?
Who is #51?
DRAFT HIM.
When did Nate Allen enroll at Utah and start wearing #15?
I’m a pretty optimistic guy, but i try to be even keeled when looking at an Eagles game. I felt pretty good about our chances the past 2 weeks, but that was mainly due to the opponents. I feel the same way now as i did at the start of the season. I believe this is a pretty talented team that should win the division. Back in the summer i felt this team would open 0-2 then go on an 11-3 run to close out the season, then preseason happened and i got overly excited. I never thought they would have looked as atrocious as they did the first several games. Truth be told, they still don’t look “right”, at least the offense doesn’t, and a Carolina defense isn’t exactly the remedy for an offense finding it’s footing. Where i do like our chances this game is our D vs Carolina’s O.
I will most likely never be a true believer in Cam Newton as a QB. I think the physical traits will always be there, but his decision making and consistent accuracy will always be a problem (sounds like possibly the same with our current QB). Cam has lead his team to a 5-0 record and i give him credit, but the same issues are still there, granted he doesn’t have a whole lot to work with. Even in his big win last week in Seattle he threw a lot of wild passes. I think our secondary is more than capable of making him pay for forcing his throws, and i like our personnel to match-up with Greg Olson. I also like our Match-up on the edge against their tackles. RT Mike Remmers was pushed back all game in SEA, and the other guy on the left side is Michael Oher, not great stuff. The interior of their o-line is pretty solid, but our interior D-line is better and really playing well. As for our offense, I’ve said it twice this week and ill say it again, I really hope we see a lot of 2-TE sets, it will disguise our run tendencies and get our backs going downhill from the start of the handoff. I also think this opens up big plays over the top through play-action.
Wild prediction- Eagles win 23-19, Game is sealed on a (quietly solid so far) EJ Biggers interception
I guess the Jets aren’t that good for a 4-1 team that we gave them their only loss.
after we beat the Panthers (sloppily Probably) they will say yea but the eagles haven’t beaten Cincy or New England….whatever
Don’t really care what “they” are saying. The Eagles looked terrible to start the year, and still have a couple of areas of real concern. Opponents and record don’t really factor into that. It would be very reassuring to see something from Bradford over the next couple of games.
That’s 100% where things sit. If Bradford keeps playing up and down; we’re an 8-8 team.
If Bradford stops the weekly foul-ups; we can get to 10 or 11 wins.
Weak schedule makes the record hard to predict. My main concern with Bradford is that he has no shown the mental toughness it takes to win in the playoffs.
Yeah, don’t understand why “The Narrative” ™ seems to bother people so much. But guess it just does. I am also a SA Spurs fan and people on their forums also bitch about the media perception, even with 5 rings.
Spurs are another team that win “the right way”, imho. So sad when they lost to the mercenaries, but they made all right the next year when they broke up a team that had no character.
Thats my point if Bradford starts playing average we dominate.
Two matchups I’m going to be focusing on:
Jordan Hicks in a crowded box. He’s at his best in space, and while he’s been solid in tight spaces, it’s by far the area he needs to grow most in. Can he make the neccessary reads vs. the inverted wishbone, and can he stack and shed consistently.
The other big matchup will be Logan against Trai Turner and Ryan Kalil, their two best OL. Turner is ridiculously strong. I mean straight up dumb levels of strength. He did the following to JJ Watt:
https://twitter.com/RyFloJo/status/649641064828014592
Thank you for point those out. Those sound much more critical than my cursing at the TV vs. Scam Newton.
Don’t undersell yourself. I hope you have spent time self scouting and have prepared tendency-breaking curse combinations.
I’ll start charting.
I have found that “son of a” is a surprisingly versatile formation. It sets up the expectation for the traditional finish, but you can catch people off guard by going another direction. Something as simple as “son of a mother” is obvious, easy, but creates that unexpectedness that will open up the big curse when Bradford deserves it.
He is strong, and a foundation of their run game. That clip was more about balance, though. He stood up to the bull rush, strength. But the most impressive of all Watts impressive atttributes is his athleticism. He tried to go to a swim, but Turner recovered quicker than him, and catching anyone mid swim is a likely pancake.
I do look forward to this matchup. Heck, pretty much all season I’ve been looking forward to watching the DL, it’s always fun to watch your team win the LoS.
Watts been thrown around a few times this year
FWIW, Football Outsiders shows Philadelphia ranked as the better team (#7 vs #10).
“Thornton had a broken bone in his hand. It can be tough to 2-gap with a banged up hand.”
So I guess that’s why Giants fans think JPP will be able to play one gap DE with one hand.
It seems as if (hands > or = gaps) is the rule of thumb, so to speak.
Newton is currently 22nd in QB rating (Kaep’s “efforts” on Thursday night slid him down to the 23rd slot).
He was 26th in 2014, 16th in 2013, 15th in 2012, and 15th in 2011.
That is 100% NOT a player who has abilities as good as his reputation.
A player like Newton isn’t really measured well by something like QBR. He hasn’t exactly been surrounded with talent, either.
I can also measure him by “runs too much” if you’d like.
Nice.
I’m usually not one to buy into the non X and O stuff, but the way Carolina took a victory lap this week (especially Cam’s scold of the reporters for making predictions) after beating Seattle seems like they’re setting themselves up for a letdown week.
If we win, I know there will be a ton of “The Eagles are back” type stuff from the press, but we’ll have a bye week to focus on getting double revenge on Dallas, so I wouldn’t worry about motivation in that game.
I’d be more worried about letdown city if we’re hosting Miami at 5-3.
I think our defense matches up well against the Panthers, but we really need something from the offense. The Panthers are going to want to bludgeon the defense and if we can’t stay on the field on offense and get off the field on defense, that will add up.
We’re going to stop the run. We’re going to get takeaways. We’re going to give the ball to our O a ton……………………….can Bradford end the mistakes and can the guy’s “catching” passes end the drops.
If we keep the giveaways at 1, there is no way we lose.
We can win if we don’t play super sloppy on offense. Something we almost never do. Panthers 30 – Eagles 17.
Winning at Seattle trumps anything Philly has done.
They haven’t beaten a winning team. And CAR plays SEA tough every time they play, no matter how good or bad each respective team is. Im not ready crown CAR or ATL the elite of the NFC yet or put them on Green Bay’s level.
Seattle’s had a tougher schedule. If you can downplay Carolina’s (or Atlanta’s) wins based on strength of schedule, you can downplay Seattle’s losses for the same reason.
That’s my point… I don’t think ATL or CAR as good as we all think and I don’t think SEA is as bad.
That’s just BS… Maybe in past years that would hold true, but So far this year, beating the Jets in NY is more impressive than beating a Seattle team that should have been 1-5 if the refs don’t botch the Lions game.. Seattles OL is not good, which has held Seattle back from being what they were these last few years..
..
I’d take the Jets to smash Seattle if they played
With the new CBA, we may finally get larger rosters (including larger practice squads).
https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/658261524096634880
Pardon my laziness in not looking it up from the last post on here, but this is why the NFL needs an 8 team developmental league. Whoever went on that rant yesterday was 100% correct.
Or a couple different ones. 16 teams in Europe, 8 teams in South America, and 8 teams in Asia.
Or do all 32 in Europe and have it like the AHL is for the NHL.
You could do 8 cities in Europe if you’d like. 60 man rosters. That would give you a developmental pool of 480 players to evaluate and put into the draft each year along with the college guys. Maybe expand the draft to 8 or 9 rounds again as well.
I think they should do it here in the states and maybe Canada, like they do for the minors in baseball. NFL-E existed and failed. Here in the states, you could probably make it marginally profitable since football’s popularity only seems to go up.
I think there would be tremendous pushback by the NCAA. A lot of money there, and an NFL development league would be a direct competitor that could strip colleges of players and profit.
That’s a good possibility that the NCAA wouldn’t be happy, but in my mind there wouldn’t be college eligible players there. Mostly for guys who are out of college/ineligible but not yet good enough for a practice squad spot. I’m not talking 32 teams either. Probably 8 to 16 giving guys a chance to develop at least a little bit and improve their skills in organized football.
Basically it’d be NFL-E just not in Europe. The only difference is that the immense popularity here in the states could keep it afloat, whereas in Europe, it wasn’t profitable at all.
Sounds like the quality of players would be pretty low then… Not sure how popular a league full of UDFA’s would be. Isn’t that kind of what the arena leagues are?
CFL
Just curious, can CFL players break their contracts if the NFL comes calling? Or is that something a player would have to have written into his contract?
It seems like there aren’t that many players who make the CFL-to-NFL switch (and only one or two like Cameron Wake who has made a name for themselves). Either they aren’t that good, or there are contractual complications…
good question, i don’t know. I’m surprised more talent does’t come from CFL considering those guys are practicing / playing and putting out game tape. Maybe it’s like sprint football and real football.
Well, like I said, NFL-E here in the states haha.
You could look at the arena leagues like that, but I’m thinking more of minor league baseball. Rules are pretty much identical, but the players aren’t as polished.
It would largely be a sorry product, but I’m thinking more of a development type thing. Rasheed Bailey is a good example of player who probably has the physical talents, but needed to refine his game while playing in an organized game.
The NFL Europe seemed like it did pretty well to me at the time. It must of not made money though.
Exactly. So the question is can the league make more money in the long run by having better quality developmental players generated from that league than currently produced from the NCAA?
That limited practice and time in the offseason is really showing up on the field this year. 22 teams as or below .500
The owners need to trade something else back to the players on that practice time issue.
Goodell’s overlord powers ain’t going anywhere, so maybe some strengthening of the pension system an increase in the marijuana threshold.
Hell just drop the Mary Jane thing outright… Wont happen, I know but I agree he threshold needs to be relaxed
It already has been to eliminate any possibility of 2nd hand smoke causing a positive.
it’s amazing that it was so low that you could get tagged for that in the first place.
It’s a full-time job, nothing wrong with making them work May-Feb.
Im not saying make it year around… but the NLFA and NFL need lay off some of the restrictions on the offseason and in season practice
Shows up in the injuries too. The catastrophic injuries will always happen, but the hamstring pulls, strained muscles could probably be prevented with more practice and acclimation time.
You say that really shows up. Do you mean because good coaching shines through, or that the overall product is lesser?
I think the overall product is suffering. I don’t remember a season with so much bad football.
Offensive line play has been brutal.
I meann aren’t overall league records and quality of football mutually exclusive?
Hard to draw conclusions from that stat alone. That only means teams are more equal.
I mean, if more teams were above .500, by definition you’d have the same amount below .500. Are you saying having more teams below .500 would be an indicator that the quality of play was higher?
True. You cant go on records alone.
But you cant argue about how sloppy the football has been through 6 weeks.
Im struggling here gentleman. I can’t decide. Jordan or Rishard Matthews. Rishard seems to be the safe bet for low to high teens. I feel like I should start him, but I for some reason the fan boy in me can’t do it.
Talk sense into me please. 3-3 in that league can’t afford to lose.
1 point ppr by the way.
I think Miami will be more run heavy today than we will be, so J-Matt (dumb drops and all) should get some free runs on the garbage non-Norman guys in Carolina’s secondary.
3-0 ok. I trust you guys!
I agree with Mike. Give Jordan the green light here. Miami is also trying to work Devante Parker into their offense as well. Plus Josh Norman reportedly won’t be covering JMatt. Good luck!
Jordan had his best NFL game against this panthers d
Bold prediction. Donnie Jones gives the ball to CAR more than Sam. Boom.
Two quality front 7’s going at it tonight.. Both very stout against the run, but I doubt Carolina has the pass rushing that we bring to the table.. If we can get pressure without blitzing it allows us to double team Olsen…
And if you shut down Olsen, and don’t allow Panthers to run the ball, they don’t have enough weapons on offense to overcome us taking Olsens and their run game out of the equation..
..
On the flip side, Panthers are tough against the run, we need our OL
To have its best game in run blocking.. Last time we faced such a tough DL, we were able to run the ball down the Jets throat…
..
Stop the run, while getting our run game going would give us a tremendous advantage in this game… I’ll take our run defense against any team in the league and I like our chances
..
I’m expecting our defense to put on a show, but we need our offense to at least clean up the mistakes.. We don’t need Sam to throw for 500yards, we NEED him to take care of the rock, and take advantage of opportunities to burn the panthers defense when they present themselves..
..
No team relies on running the ball more than the Panthers, take that security blanked away from them by shutting down the run, make them play for behind and playing from behind should force Cam to press and and hopefully turn the ball over..
..
cam Holds the ball and looks for big plays down field which gives us time to get to him and batter him..
..
Cam is going give us the ball twice tonight. Fumble and pick.
How many times will Bradford give the Panthers the ball?
If our secondary has been getting coverage sacks the past two weeks against saints and Giants who have better Wrs than the saints and Eli and Brees
Get the ball out faster than Cam, our DBs should get Cam to hold the ball long enough for Cox and the boys to Batter him
..
Like our defense to put on a show tonight, but our offense will decide how hard this game will be… if we can run against Carolina, we won’t lose this game.. If we struggle to get the run going, this can become a gritty defensive battle.. But hopefully our OL is up to the challenge just like they stepped up to run the ball on top ranked jets defense home turf… And our offense is much better than the offense who was able to run against the jets, although Carolima run defense is probably better than the Jets where as Carolinas pass defense isn’t on the Jets level..
..
Bradford, Sproles and Pope Jordan could have a big night in the passing game.. Hopefully playing an undefeated team on the road brings out our competitive juices and we finally see the offense put together a strong game
..
Yes the Panthers shut down Marshawn Lynch, but seattles OL is a mess, our line has been playing much better than seattles
..
as for Thornton, I don’t know if he hasn’t been as good as last year, or if it’s a case of Logan and Cox improving so much that they are starting to cast a shadow on on Thorntons game with Cox being on pace right now for a 15 sack season (yes I know that won’t happen) and Logan becoming one of The best NT Forces in the game..
..
And if Thornton hasn’t played great, scary to think what the DL can be when he starts playing to the level we have become accustomed to seeing from Ced
Allen Robinson SMH
Wow, the Bills look like a dumpster fire… Manuel has already thrown 3 picks in the first 20 minutes.
Bradford is going to have his work cut out for him if he wants to win this week’s INT record…
Wont stop him from trying
Luckily, our offense works quickly.
Or not, but quickly.
The Jaguars doing absolutely everything they want to the Bills right now. Theres a lot of players I really, really like in Jacksonville. Makes you wonder how they’re 1-5, but I guess its the nature of a young and somewhat incomplete team.
When you pick at the top of the draft every damn year, how can you avoid getting some decent players?
Bills game is ridiculous. Awesome.
the stream is killing me though. Started off good now I wanna throw my computer
I’m watching via XBOX One app, and it’s going pretty well.
I didn’t even think about that… which App is it?
NFL network app.
ill try that… the direct TV app keeps saying the game is local and wont stream
yahoo might have exclusive stream rights
That’s possible. The NFL network is streaming it via Yahoo.
Its working on My Xbox… its showed up in the main app menu but its a whole play and a half behind. Its has a Yahoo in the corner
The Direct Tv app wont play the game, so you re right
EJ Manuel is absolutely terrible.
Can’t wait to see all the Eagles fans hoping we sign him after he’s released next offseason…
I’m pretty much guaranteeing the Eagles sign one of Kaepernick, RGKnee, or Manuel this offseason.
Just one? I figured we would sign Kaep as the west coast guy (geographic, not offensive) that we had targeted, then in a surprise move bring in RGIII as well when he is too good to pass up and weaken a rival in the process.
I guess that is a pretty far-fetched story line, though.
BC you seem unnaturally synical these days…
cassel vs giants or flacco vs arizona (fantasy-wise)
Flacco
bills run d is terrible surprising in a rex D. makes you realize how stout our front 7 is.
The Bills D is making the Jags look like world-beaters. Yikes.
Wembley Stadium is pretty much silent.
what refs are they using for this game? blatent holds on jax o-line not getting called.
That was the slowest goal line plunge I have ever seen. He looked like one of those guys that pull the big rigs by tow straps.
I’m not sure why they didn’t go with Yeldon instead of Gerhart.
mccoy looks good running.
That was horrible punt coverage… Jags falling all over the turf
Bradley must have reminded them that they were the Jags during halftime.
Shady got blasted
Neither team really wants to win this game
[halftime]
GUS BRADLEY: *beating chest* WE’RE THE JAGS! WHAT DO WE DO?
*silence*
PLAYER: …lose?
GUS BRADLEY: YOU’RE GOD DAMN RIGHT WE DO!
Its working… its like they forgot how to play football
I actually typed that before they started losing, too…
Joe Banner and Les Bowen going at eachother throats on twitter currently.
Wow you weren’t kidding.
was breaking down, getting destroyed by TB
texans have officially given up
idk if Bill o Brien makes it past this game….this looks like Clemson and Miami from yesterday
everyone seems to be picking the panthers, don’t think I have seen anyone on TV picking the Eagles…
good
Right.. Even when we are just average we seem to almost always be the favorite… I enjoy every chance we get to be an Underdog no one is giving a shot to win… Actually, let me clear that up, it never feels good being an underdog to a beast like the Patriots, but winnable games against Jets and Panthers, I’ll gladly see us play the underdog role
We are no longer being ranked on potential. But if Bradford steps up? Look out!
Being favored too much has been going on for over ten years tbb.
I feelbad for Bill O’brian
Why? He has done a terrible job, I’ll be surprised if Obrien survives this year. maybe he can get away with scapegoating Romeo Crennek, Sacrafice him, and get one more year to coach, but OBrien has been terrible. His handling of the QB position to start the season was amauterish and impulsive… Wouldnt mind hiring him as a QB coach, but he might not fall THAT FAR down…
I think Boykin is playing
edelman just got destroyed
Yeah Skrine landed a kill shot
pryor laying some hits in the Jets game. fun game.
Pats commit pass interference by Chung announcers show replay 3x showing Chung grabbing and pulling down his arm before ball is there. Announcers call it a great play.
nola looks revitalized
Can we have Mettenberger ?
big arm, but i don’t think he’s a #culture fit
Are the colts players trying to get their coach fired? Or are they just this bad that they are down 20-0 nothîng to a saints team that isn’t in much better shape.. I understand if the colts Defense strugglea, but how is their offense so Putrid? That wackjob owner won’t let Pagano survive this year….l Texans are wasting an opportunity with Colts looking like they are headed straight for an iceberg………people rip our division, but that division is Terrible
..
Great seeing the Redskins getting their butt whipped by the Bucs… If Lovie smith lets Cousins comeback and win this game, he should be fired tomorrow morning… Lovie has been doing a terrible job for years
i think they know pags is done. they got laughed at all week after getting destroyed in the game.
yea i agree, i think it’s destroying their players mentality playing for a coach that they know won’t be back next year. Just an unhealthy situation for a team I don’t think is that great from the jump
Gore bet on the wrong horse..
But he wanted to play for a contender….
At least he doesn’t have to wear a sleep monitor.
makes ya wonder if Gore had of stayed here and the Eagles signed Ryan Mathews as well…..would Demarco be an Eagle? We would have two RB’s on cheap contracts…just the way it goes….i’m not complaining though, i like Demarco
yeah i don’t think demarco was in plans. though like taking him away from cowboys.
Good riddance.
Saint, Cameron Jordan has 5 sacks in the last two game.. The game before Lane did a solid job handling Jordan while playing injured
texans looking like 2012 eagles
Bill Obrien deserves plenty of Blame, but Romeo Crennels Dfense has been a joke even tho they have talent.,.. He needs to be fired, and replaced with young MIke Vrabel to try and give that defense an in season spark and hopely turn it around.. How can Crennel be allowed to keep his job?
crennel has to be done, watt + wilfork + clowney, how is anyone running the ball, plus cushing at ilb…
Decent CBs too
all of was good players out of the game. should be easily W for bucs.
Lol griff Whalen, the Genius who hiked the ball on that Braindead Pagano call last week. Fumbled twice on ST today… People lose their jobs like that
Did you know this though?
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13932517/griff-whalen-did-not-practice-indianapolis-colts-botched-fake-punt-according-punter-pat-mcafee
if my team was losing 41-0 at halftime i don’t know if the coach is making it out of the lockerroom
Still time before the half, Could be 48-0.
i was wondering what that halftime pep talk would be like… i would just skip it at that point
Probably lots of drinking… no talking, just drinking
No one is going to feel great about us going to Foxborough to play the Patriots.. But I’m curious to see our elite DL against the Pats OL that Is a major work in progress with like two rookies, Undrafted rookie center, Backüp tackle. Look forward to seeing how our OL rises to the challenge that week… Our front 7 needs to be dominant to have a shot in that game… Olsen is probably solid practice for GRONK
not good. pats don’t need to run the ball. we don’t have pass rushers to continually sack brady. i also don’t think we match up well against shifty receivers who can live doing the dink and dunk.
kurt cousins running a couple of zone read keepers
So I have a question that’s off topic, and I mean to ask this without seeming ignorant, but can someone explain to me why teams insist on leaving in starters who are clearly not 100%? I’m watching the Jets Pats right now and it’s obvious that Chris Ivory has no power in his legs but they’re leaving him in the game. Zac Stacy is a capable and talented backup, yet is barely touching the ball.
Is there any reason beyond massive brain trauma that you would not sub out Stacy for Ivory? Is there some unwritten rule of football where you need to stick with your starter until his arm is only attached by sinew and his legs and facing the wrong way?
Another good example, when we played the Saints and Marques Colston could barely raise his arm, yet they didn’t just keep him in the game, but they kept trying to throw to him for some reason.
I get it if the drop off between starter and backup is catastrophic, but otherwise I’m not seeing any possible alternate reason besides potential cranial drill intrusion.
Usually, drugs are the reason.
Ahh, yes, drugs used by the head coaches that makes them stupider. That explains why you would keep someone who can barely run in the game over a perfectly healthy and capable backup.
Ivory just scored. Drugs kicking in.
He was wide open, no one covered him. All he had to do was catch it. Didn’t have anything to do with his legs.
ivory td. but would say that 1st practice together all the time, so not just talent but continuity.
Dallas North Forty
Foles is taking some licks today
takes them every week, that line can’t pass block
Doesn’t matter. They won.
Remember when we cut Danny Amendola? I do too.
What happened to the Texans? Dayummmm
Ryan Mallet missed the flight to the game. lol. Sad franchise.
LOL you are lying
Nope.

Damn…
Wow didn’t know that about Mallett……anyone who watched “hard knocks” might remember he overslept for a practice and had a meeting with the GM over it
I’m pretty sure they signed + started Fletcher and Sconces..maybe even Jarrad Page too.
Here I am sitting at the emergency vet because my dog fell off the bed and hurt himself. Really hoping he is ok because I want him to be okay , but also so I can see the game today…
Ouch. Good luck.
Jets put up a good fight really, but fell a few plays short. Entertaining game.
That TD drop by Marshal was big
Yeah, that and the lack of pass rushers couldn’t take advantage of the makeshift OL. NE starting all kinds of backups today but can’t generate pressure. NE passing to milk the clock to the end the game says it all really.
tannehill 25 straight completions
I’m not sure what the Jets plan is at the end of this game lol.
i guess it was to just let the pats win either by scoring or running out the clock
da fuck are the jets doing?
2 free rushers and no one took Gronk. The hell are they doing out there haha.
So much over hype regarding this game and the impact of it on the Eagles’ season. A win would be nice but a loss isn’t going to severely curtail their playoff chances either in the NFC East race either
Just not sure who to root for in the Giants-Boys game tonight. I guess the Boys but a tough call.
gotta root for giants. we clearly have their number
You could convince me either way. Just hoping Cassel picks up right where he left off and continues to be one of the worst 5 QBs (by QBR) since ’12. Weeden is there too.
Donovan ending?
pats rushed only 5 times
You know I used to hate it, but it’s become kind of fun to watch teams stupid their way into a loss versus the Pats.
Cousins on the verge of leading another 4th qtr. comeback
yeah it’s tough to watch
Teams should take prevent out the plabook
problem is really too much blitzing
I just saw them get burned…. before that they had their outside CBs 10 yards back
Skins have been very finicky and played pretty well at home this year.
Jets losing this game in this fashion would be even more fitting if Ryan was their coach.
Jets lose their best OL on a meaningless attempt at a 4th quarter comeback after completely fubaring the actual shot at a comeback that they had.
Wow cousins almost threw the game away
i know gotta catch that
Chris Conte…..don’t know how he is still in the league
skins do it again, cousins
cousins 33/40 300yds, 3tds passing 1td rushing
patriots do that o-line movement all the time. so good at drawing penalties from undisciplined teams
woo, that almost got exciting at the end of the Jets Pats game.
Bucs kill me. Dude just needed to get down so they could have spiked it…. why did he pitch it?
There wouldn’t have been enough time. Or *shouldn’t* have been… clock was at 12 seconds before the play started and somehow ended up at 11 after the fumble recovery. The refs lowered that to 5 seconds and that was probably generous. I don’t think the team could have gotten to the line and spiked it within 5-6 seconds.
He could have slid feet first ending the play at about the 40. It would have been tight, but it would have given them a chance
Cannot believe the Bucs let that happen. Lovie Smith is a joke.
God, the Bucs are atrocious!
Jayron Hosely has a free shot at Witten……gives a horrible effort to even bring him down
Joe Buck’s retirement can’t come soon enough.
Giants D is going to be dead in the 2nd half at this rate
Wow sad news from Minnesota T-wolves organization, Flip Saunders passes away
That is sad. RIP.
This Cowboys/Giants game is boring. I turn to the other game and Oakland is up 14 on the Chargers.
If the Giants ever picked up a reliable pass catching TE, they’d be dangerous.
Nobody has ever looked more like a dad than Ben MacAdoo.
lol, Mcadoo looks exactly like my boss, it’s uncanny
RB Orleans Darkwa doing a Robert Newhouse imitation.
Brutal personal foul call on the giants, refs have to use common sense man
Gotta let that one go. Especially when the refs were slow on the whistle to kill the play and McFadden is still going.. These guys are awful.
yup, Giants got called for a penalty because the refs didn’t do their job good enough
This ref crew is awful.
That awkward moment when Pittsburgh Steeler William Gay is on a commercial discussing the death of his mother due to domestic violence during a game when human pile of excrement Greg Hardy plays football.
John Clark CSN@JClarkCSN 3m3 minutes ago
Riley Cooper out here running, making sure knee is ok to go. Sam Bradford out warming up. #Eagles
He and Cooper need to get on the same page. I hope they are working together right now
giants / dallas game is pretty good
I like Cassel
bills might wish they had him
Watching the game makes me sad though. Had we stopped shooting ourselves in the foot just once, we would have one more win.
At least 2 more
Well yes, but specifically against Dallas. Dallas is not a good team. Of course, the Giants aren’t terrific tonight either.
Oakland laying it on the Chargers.
yeah they said crowd was 50/50 raiders/oak fans. i guess they should get used to playing in socal.
LET’S GO GIANTS!!!
It’s like the Giants have no idea the Cowboys are going to run the ball.
Would you guys rather have Derek Carr or Bradford?
OROY is obviously Gurley if he stays healthy. What a monster.
DROY? No clue but Hicks is certainly my pick so far.
Cooper has a say in oroy
wow cowboys muff punt to seal the game
