2nd Half – TB 28 , PHI 14

I did not see this happening. The Bucs have 355 yards of offense in the 1st half. They are 6 for 9 on 3rd downs and the Red Zone hasn’t slowed them down at all.

The Eagles continue to be the kings of the “close doesn’t count” brigade. 2 almost INTs. One almost FR. A few almost pass completions. And so on.

All that means nothing.

Tampa is making plays.

Other than that, things are great.

Tampa has blown big leads before. The Eagles have made comebacks. So we’ll see what happens. But it sure doesn’t feel good right now.

    The half turns out of the Eagles can recover one of those fumbles or make a pick but they got outplayed both lines badly. No pass rush yet again even when blitzing.

    There’s no second half turnaround coming, for the season if not for this season.

    This is a bad team. Full stop. I was one of the more pessimistic people I know before the season and they’re worse than even I anticipated. I thought they’d go 9-7. It would take a complete turnaround even to achieve that. Right now they don’t look a team that will win even 8 games.

    No offense Tommy, but it surprises me how consistently surprised you are at the Eagles poor play. This has been a recurring pattern all season (really dating back to the last quarter of last season too). I don’t want you to ever lose your eternal optimism for the Eagles, but you have to admit this is a poorly assembled and coached team right now. NOTHING at this point surprises me with this team. They’ve been making mistake after mistake all season long. This is simply a bad team. Maybe not bad like the old TB teams, but we are bad nonetheless. Literally any team in the NFL could beat us right now.

    A humiliating blowout loss to a mediocre opponent at home in a must-win game should end any discussion that this team is good enough and just needs to execute better, is just a few plays away, etc. If Chip Kelly is as smart and rational as his admirers say, he will look at this team, see that it is a dumpster fire, and reassess his own capabilities. Hopefully he realizes that he doesn’t know what he’s doing when it comes to constructing an NFL roster, making trades, etc. and allows another strong voice like Howie’s back into the room. Parcells used to say they ought to let you buy the groceries if they want you to cook the meal. Chip’s gotten his chance, and he burned the kitchen down. Time to eat some humble pie and reexamine.
