Chip Gone
Posted: December 29th, 2015 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 281 Comments »The Eagles fired Chip Kelly.
Today, Jeffrey Lurie, Chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia Eagles, released Head Coach Chip Kelly.
βWe appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward,β said Lurie.
Coach Pat Shurmur will be interim head coach for Sundayβs game against the New York Giants.
Ed Marynowitz, vice president of player personnel, was also released. Tom Donahoe, former GM of the Buffalo Bills and director of football operations for the Pittsburgh Steelers and senior football advisor for the Eagles since 2012, will assume the role of senior director of player personnel.
A press conference will be held Wednesday, December 30 at the NovaCare Complex at Noon with Lurie.
Wow.
Lots more later.
_
Holy
Fucking
Shit
And
FIRST
I second that emotion. Just came on here for a quick check up on you guys and see this bombshell!
The right move. And second
Unbelievable. I am actually shocked.
i threw my phone
In celebration?
lol no i wanted chip to say. i was shocked
Fair enough. I think this was the right move. They were getting worse, and older, and I think the tempo thing got figured out and the offense was just too predictable and simple
I was kind of shocked and ambivalent. I dunno. I played and now coach a Wing T team. I don’t care for Chip’s offensive philosophy (and certainly not for his defensive), but I did think he brought some innovative concepts to the table.
From a personal standpoint, I’m torn here. I never quite got a full read on the guy. He’s probably very smart for keeping his personal life guarded. I do feel bad for the impending pile-up that will occur. At the end of the day, he’s a very, very solid coach who’s accomplished a lot in a very short span of time.
I hope you didn’t throw it to an eagles receiver cause if you did….time to buy a new phone.
Wow… I just read that update on my iPhone… I wasn’t sure I read it correctly
In the spirit of moving forward;
the first person who suggests Sean McDermott as the head coach needs to kill themselves.
I hear this Sean McDermott guy is pretty good in Carolina.. lets have him as HC
start with a GM.
Howie is back baby…
I don’t think so.
He should have killed himself in 2010.
Ha fucking Ha…I saw McDermotts name and immediate thought of all your posts just killing McDeezNutz defense in 2010…I am surprised your head hasn’t exploded…
I say get McDermott, sign Kaepernick and start Barner at RB π
Die
I told you Chip was gonna get fired. I told you all the way back in the preseason!
McDermott, is, I think, quite likely to get poached from the Carolina Panthers. Maybe not by us, but by someone…
Better not be by us. He’s a fucking idiot and responsible for the worst red zone D in 30 years.
Already seen it hahahahahaha
the Eagles have become the Redskins
good grief
As sad as it makes me, this is the right move. I don’t think Chip’s speed of play would have ver worked in the NFL. Maybe we’ll see.
Agree. He was figured out and the team was getting older and worse. Better now than after 4-12 next year… But they may still go 4-12
count on a lot of 4 – 12 results in the next few years
Very possible.
Sadly I agree. Our defense played well early on too really well. But this team could look a lot different next year. Ugh wtf…..
Hue Jackson anybody? I think he might be worth a 2nd shot as a HC
I’m also good with Shurmur getting another chance.
No Jackson
YES JACKSON!! ARE YOU BLIND? He’s an actual offensive mastermind that gets results, apparently understands talent well…
Be nice!
But I like Jackson’s mind and creativity. So he’s on my list.
Look at what he did with the Raiders…Bad deal with getting Palmer, but had he not had Jason Campbell get injured, he would have performed a miracle with that Raiders team.
I’m a fan, so I agree.
Crrraaaaazy… I’m stunned but not too upset. Get this thing moving in a positive direction immediately after the Giants game. Go Howie!
or a worse direction
Some crazy shit must have been happening behind the scenes, probably all season. Insane.
I wonder if we will ever know what happened behind closed doors
They’ll leak it to Eskin.
Firing him week 16 is insane, especially for Lurie. There must have been some really really really crazy shit happening. I’m stunned.
I can see Lurie and Chip getting heated, but I never seen this happening.
I thought PhiladelphiaEagles.com was hacked. Shocked. Feel sick.
I wonder if Lurie told him he was taking away again power and Chip said no and Lurie said that’s it then.
No Lurie said Chip you suck, you are fired.
Don’t get this. More happening that we don’t know about. Makes no sense. I thought no matter how disappointing this year was you give him another year.
Makes total sense. he sucks.
Wonder if they’ll come back to Lehigh for TC? Being a Lehigh Valley fan, I’d love that!
They need to!
It better be in the new coach’s contract. Nobody is above the Eagles organization and Chip has ALWAYs thought he was high and mighty.
Nah, bring it back to West Chester.
Holy smokes, there is more story here Im guessing
Was tommy right, and they had a conversation where Lurie didn’t like what he heard, and that was enough?
I think chip just didn’t wanna do hard knocks so asked to be fired lol
You might be on to something….Lurie may have not wanted to do Hard Knocks…it might have been the last straw!
I feel pretty bad for Marynowitz. He took a risk coming here and it blew up on him.
The Jason Peters thing may have been the straw…
??
He quit last Sunday, and he’s one of their best players.
the Redskins are laughing at the philly organization
WHo cares. THe Eagles improve by subtraction.
this is not how to operate. why doesn’t Lurie just yell out that the organization is a total mess?
It is a total mess.
but you don’t reveal your cards to the rest of the players at the table
that is the point!
shefter keeps saying Kelly was so unhappy…….HOW? WITH HIMSELF? THEY GAVE HIM EVERYTHING HE WANTED
Interesting. I’d like to hear some follow up on that.
Perhaps the lack of taking responsibility with the whole “I’m not the GM” thing rubbed Lurie the wrong way, I know it did me
Yea that was really silly.
Or it was how much of a disaster this season has been and how decimated the Eagles roster is.
Do you want a cookie?
Yes.
obese Andy Reid ate them all
oh my God Andy Reid spend so much time trying to improve his team that he doesnt have time to diet and exercise. Andy Reid has a good team. The Ealges and Chip Kelly have a shitty team.
the Chefs soft schedule will betray them
Check NFL Power rankings. That team is good. Anything can happen in the playoffs. Man if Chip Kelly gets fired AND Andy Reid wins a Super Bowl…..man oh man.
the Chefs beat every soft team on their schedule but lost to every good team.
I hope it comes down to fatso’s bad clock management
They were in position to win every game on their schedule this year. Mistakes were made and the ball bounced as it did, but they were never blown out. Not in any of them.
man, id root for big red, and i don’t have anything against KC as a team either
You can win the battle with Howie ‘Chipper’ Roseman, but you wont win the war.
Next chapter in the saga… Chip Kelly goes to Titans
i wouldn’t be shocked
Chip Kelly sucks. Let him go there. He is horrible.
We could have traded him if that were the case π
Expected.
It wasn’t really that he had a losing year. It’s mostly Chip the GM wrecked the team going forward, and he clearly doesn’t manage personal relationship well with other coworkers or his players.
I have no proof, but I do think there is a strong belief out there that Chip is very distant and doesn’t do a good job of fostering relationships with players. I get that it’s a business and they are grown men, but you can’t be too robotic and cold in your interactions with individuals who are asked to put their bodies on the line for you.
I sure didn’t expect it.
I pretty much did tell you before this season that Chip Kelly was paralleling Josh McDaniels. This is the natural coda.
Sorry but I call BS on that. No one expected this. This isn’t a fly-by-night organization that fires head coaches every two years. After two 10 win seasons, and a single down year where we were in the playoff hunt till week 16? Don’t act like you saw it coming.
it is now.
we are the new redskins
More like the Browns.
any way we can trade for Manziel?
I don’t really think that will be the case. I think Lurie will have a better time attracting a candidate than the likes of the Browns or whomever.
we will probably hire the Browns coach once he is fired
he is local
Wow. I am pretty shocked. This is so atypical for Lurie that I imagine something big must have happened behind the scenes. Perhaps Lurie told Kelly that he expected changes to be made or some such and Chip refused.
The offseason is about to get very interesting.
Yeah. I trust Lurie more than Chip at this point, so…
Glad Lurie had the balls to do it… Who’s our next coach you guys?
some retread that will win 3 games next year
I want Holmgren with a good GM.
why not Vince Lombardi or Tom Landry?
Only cuz Hank Stram is unavailable
Aren’t they dead?
I posted this above, but my guys are:
Josh McDaniels
Adam Gase
Kyle Shanahan
Sean Payton would be #1 if he gets fired
Something’s definitely going on, didn’t even get to coach the final game
because Lurie was so disgusted. What owner wouldn’t be. The team got embarrassed at home in a must win game. Totally embarrassing and it has been happening all season.
True
Lurie:
As we move forward, the search for a new head coach will begin and will be led by myself, Don Smolenski and Howie Roseman….
damn Howie won, huh.
don’t get too comfy Howie. a few more years of last place finishes should send you packing too
Howie my boy, he won he won!
Hahahah!, I always said that wheneber chip was getting fired, Howie would end up hiring his replacement and Lurie’s raise was basically holding Howie on retainer
..
Can’t believe Lurie did this, good for him, breaking from his usual super patient self…
Must have been player-driven right? What makes a guy not finish out the season?
Maybe Lurie was like eff you you’re not the GM going forward or get the hell out, and they parted ways
this is exactly how it went
Losing the last game. We would have won tomorrow, if Chip was still the lame duck coach.
.
Be sure to read ESP’s “Chip had gang relations” story tomorrow
Stephen A will have a blast tomorrow
Things I care less about…..
Chip sunken….?
We have an awful roster and with Kelly gone we can now commence our 3-5 year rebuild :3
True enough, but at least we don’t have to wait another year.
Now Bradford gets to play in another system again…somewhere.
Tommy – got a shot to go back to a 4-3, would that help ease the sting?
Curry – Logan – Cox – Graham
Kendricks – Hicks – Alonso
That is a pretty good front 7….
Lot of roster turn over to go back to 4-3… need depth, more DE’s… trade Barwin.
Agree. Would love to see it.
Barwin nuuuuuuuu!
He is a true 3-4 OLB… think he has value since his contract is cheap, so can maybe get a 4th.
I think we have the roster for it, but honestly they played in a 4 down alignment pretty often this year. It’s not like we were a true 3-4 team that didn’t have 4-3 subpackages
I’d love to see Howie’s face right now
Any chance he gets his job back?
He apparently did
It looks like the Grinch’s after he steals all the presents.
Wow.
So chances of Sam coming back now? Do we even want him back?
might as well not bother
we are destined to a 3 win season
I dont think you should be so positive all the time.
I was watching the NFL network because Comcast wasn’t ready yet
Nate Burleson and Michael Robinson were saying how he was probably fired because of the players he let go and how he destroyed the roster…..then 5 minutes later were saying whoever gets hired here is going to inherit a very talented roster
The players he let go just aren’t superstars either.
NFL commentators have shorter memories than golfers.
Read this guys story about Chip pretty funny, but also relevant to his feelings.
don’t know if that guy can be trusted, or what it means, but that is fascinating
That is a hilarious story…
Black Monday headline: Chip to Tennessee. Reunited with Mariota.
maybe they dont wait that long…
The way he got fired and the stories that come out over the next week will probably put a damper on him getting re-hired
I want my 2 1s and 2 2s! Damn!
Told you this morning it was time to blow it up.
Vic Fangio or bust
My list:
Josh McDaniels
Adam Gase
Kyle Shanahan
Hue Jackson
Pat Shurmur
Steve Spurrier available?
Maybe we can get St. Nick to come in and quit on us.
For some reason I want no part of Pat Shurmur. He just doesnt have anythinh compelling about him
I think he’s a good football man and got a raw deal in Cleveland.
Lol McDaniels did the same thing in Denver. I’ll definitely pass on Shanahan. Gase is interesting.
That pretty stupid thinking. Josh was the youngest head coach in the nfl and definitely had an ego problem. However like most young people and many nfl coaches he has grown up amd learn form his previous experiences.
Josh is a guys that regularly puts together a completely differnet offensive attack every week. He is a guy I trust to cater the scheme to the talent on the field.
Shanahan would be my 3rd choice, but you cant ignore the fact that he puts a good offense together everywhere he goes. RBs always seem to play at their best under Shanahan (Alfred Morris, Freeman). I also feel that he is the most prepared for all of the responsibilities involved with being a HC.
Is it stupid thinking? You just fired a coach with an ego problem and couldn’t get along with his players only to bring in either Shanahan or Mcdaniels that have had the same issue at their last HC spots.
I think you need to go in another direction.
Yes it is dumb to dismiss a coach without doing further research. McDaniels has openly admitted his mistakes in Denver. He has worked hard to learn from that and will be one of the most sought after HC candidates this offseason. He does not seem like a guy who is going to repeat those mistakes.
Also Kyle Shanahan has never been a head coach. You must be thinking if his father.
McDaniels should definitely be interviewed at the very least.
Everyone is so caught up in the “OMG we’re going to be Cleveland in Chip Kelly’s Belichickian career arc!” possibility that they’re ignoring the possibility we could be New England in somebody else’s Belichickian career arc.
Perfectly said.
Now about Sam Bradford…j/k
Initial reaction took ahold of me. You are correct in that it is dumb to rule out candidates without any initial research into said candidate.
Shanahan is an old dog and I dont see him learning from recent mistakes. Maybe im wrong.
With Mcdaniels the only concerns i would have is ego, getting along with players to an appropriate degree, and exactly how much of his success in NE is related not to his exact skill set but BBs. Yes, you are correct that he is worth looking into, but he does throw some red flags in which all candidates typically do.
The reason for my initial strong reaction was due to the similarities betwen his first HC gig and Chips downfall. Really striking and alarming how similar they are. Again, he was young at the time, is smart, and has learned from the best so he is worth interviewing at least.
It easy to make quick assumption, but other than QB picking the right coach is the most important thing for the franchise and it take careful thought. I think you’ll be surprised how much interest he gets this offseason. I would think he’d be a top target for us.
I think you keep think Im saying Mike Shanahan. I want no part of that guy. im sayong Kyle Shanahan. He was the redskins OC when RGiII had his big year, he made the browns offense respectable last year with no talent as the OC, and os the Oc for the falcons this year. You see what Julio and Freeman are doing. I said he would be the most prepare because he is the son of a head coach.
I did assume Mike Shanahan. Somehow didn’t even think of Kyle Shanahan in ATL.
McDermott?
NO!
He’s a crybaby pussy who wanted to harp on and on about being 12th in yards when his D was 32nd in the Red Zone setting a 30 year futility mark. And the players hated him. Trent Cole blasting you in the press is damning.
F McDermott.
Damn man shocked.. But at the same time fucked off coz all the talent Chip let go! Im talking about Shady, DJax, Maclin n Mathis n not restocking up the OL. Tough offseason no 2nd round pick either.
Maclin and Shady I get, Desean being cut still pissed me off…come back Desean
He’s about to get cut in DC, you may get your wish.
please Desean! I still have your jersey please!
This is a good as reason as any to have him come back. In that case can we get Dawkins and Runyan back?
me too
I’ve T.O.’s. Worn it twice. Anyone interested in an almost brand new T.O shirt?
Best WR in franchise history
the personnel department has sucked for years, hopefully they can find some guys to stock the shelves. That is more important than the coach IMO.
So no Tostitos commercials this year?
Guess Lurie really didn’t want to be on hard knocks
http://gifsec.com/funny/gif-bye/
Wow, I thought he’d get another year….
Another terrible move by the Eagles front office, at least shop him to Tennesse first and recoup a draft pick.
You’re all acting like Tennessee would give up anything
The Eagles would have no leverage. They can’t wait long bc of the quick turnaround in finding a new coach.
Do you know that wasn’t done, and it’s entirely possible TEN doesn’t want Chip.
I still remembering breaking down with Geagle on Phillymag when Desean got cut….good times
Chip said a couple of things in his last presser that probably got Jeff a little annoyed — put down his players, that thing about not being a gm, i think players generally don’t like him, he dropped a lot of “eagles” stars.
He definitely was the anti players coach.
I must have missed it what happened with Chip and JP?
He had a Ricky Watters moment
JP took himself out of game, sort of for who, for what
Reports surfaced on Monday that Peter pulled himself out of the game in the 4th quarter, and supposedly said something to the extent of “I’m not getting hurt for this”
Oh I heard about that, he may not be back anyway though
Assuming Payton isn’t available my number one choice is Fangio
From a random dudes twitter: At Sr. Bowl practice Chip Kelly made fun of Lovie Smith and TB’s scouting ideals. Didn’t care that those standing nearby heard it. #irony
Wonder how hard he was laughing when Lovie and his “scouting ideals” stomped the shit outta him later in the season
that’s not good.
his scouting beat the crap out of us
Chip Kelly fired. Sam Hinkie still employed.
Well Sam Hinkie has been doing well rebuilding a team that was in an awful position
They have 2 wins this year in like 30 games. I’ve jumped off the Hinkie wagon because I don’t think he has a true plan – which is why D’Antoni and the other guy are here.
I really don’t like those hires but the league likely had something to do with it. I could get into a huge argument about the Sixers but I won’t bother still think they have the brightest future in Philly
I’m more mad I think because I think they have some talent on the team and they seem to lose games in the last 4-5 minutes of the 4th. I’m not sure if it’s coaching, tanking, or both. For me it’s infuriating to watch.
I don’t hate Hinkie, and until sometime near the middle of last month I’ve started to sour. Plus, trading for a guy you cut seems to me that he’s struggling a bit.
Though I do have one theory. Hinkie was great at getting assets, getting rid of dead weight, and freeing up the cap. What if that’s his job, and the real GM is coming to bring it home?
We didn’t trade for anyone we cut, although we should have gotten him earlier he makes us better….too much better almost
Did we let Ish walk or did we cut him? I’m sorry, I may have those facts mixed up. But we could have kept him at the beginning of the year if I’m correct.
I’m tired of Canaan lobbing 3-pointers like he’s a shooter.
Nah we wanted to resign him but he didn’t want to come back but we had a chance to claim him off waivers earlier and didn’t for whatever reason
I’m glad he’s back, and I hope we start winning more games. I really think we have the talent (beginning of the season) to get a 30-33 win season.
The plan is win the lottery, which they haven’t done.
??
I’m shocked but Chip must have been crapy with Lurie to make this happen. Plus he didnt get value in trades having a problem with a lot of players Lurie valued, McCoy, Maclin and DeShawn and the Foles for Bradford move. No value at all.
The team unfortunately probably needs a total flush and rebuild and possibly Joe Banner back to help rebuild things.
And the hurry up simple offense was just fine, but, you get more opportunities but also give the other team more tries, so a neutral move at best. We didnt wear other teams out.
I don’t think talent on the team is that bad. I gotta think it was a personality thing.
Oh, Bradford is that bad. The OG are that bad. Big down grades from playmakers like McCoy, Jackson and Maclin.
We got zero value from his trades and who were we bidding against for Bradford?
new regimes get rid of talented player all the time. Got rid of jackson, basically 0 drop off. Got rid of Shady little droppoff if you combine Murray/Matthews. But it’s probably like brekaing up — you don’t realize how bad the current person is until you find a new one.
Right on. New regimes often clean house. Bill Walsh did it. Chuck Noll did it. Even Jimmie Johnson was highly criticized for bringing in all those Miami players.
Bradford the last 5-6 games he’s played hasn’t been the issue, matter of fact he’s played pretty well considering what’s been going on around him. He gets rid of the ball quickly (which he has to do not to get sacked) and that’s tough for most QBs in the league. He’s been pretty accurate, and he has generally put his receivers in positions to make plays. That’s all you can ask of a QB.
Please stop your love affair with Jackson and look at his actual record. There were only 2 years where he had more than 6 touchdowns. That is not an elite or even No. 1 receiver. The goal of most players/teams is to score and win. Jackson makes highlight of the night, but how many times did his teams make the playoffs?
Some people can’t let go of the story in their head about someone. It’s like the people that worship a Reagan that never existed. That’s the same with DJax.
It isnt a love affair, he was a guy that made a lot of plays. Maclin finally came on strong too and then poof, you have a rookie and not a lot of good deep guys.
I think Jackson was nearly on a record breaking pace for plays over 40 yrds, so, a good deep threat always helps, even if your adding other wr.
Please no Banner.
I know. But. He is a good deal maker and did a good job making some tough calls.
Pretty much think we are into the woods here.
Your swapped in “n” where the “r” should have been.
The correct sentence is; “Please no Barner”
Either way. Please no. Maybe Donahoe keeps the job?
This was all orchestrated by Tom Donahoe. Dude last made the playoffs in 1997 and was run out of Pittsburgh by Cower. He cozied up the Ralph Wilson and was hired in Buffalo before they realized that it was the Pittsburgh organization & not this clown that was responsible for Pittsburgh’s success.
I think the whole thing might have been orchestrated by Chip himself. He is not a stupid or naive man.
Well with a loss we might be able to get a top 10 pick
LOL Now they’re all going to band together and tough out a win…
I think my vote would be for a defensive minded coach. Defense wins championships.
I want Fangio
Who? Payton might be possible.
I actually liked Chip — it sucks if he was an asshole.
I did too until the middle of this year. Sucks he got experience with the Eagles and can start over somewhere else.
yeah i would have kept him, but he didn’t seem to be making any friends.
Tennessee and Marcus, here I come. signed, Chip. See, nobody had to worry about us reuniting. It just took a year.
Hopefully this also spells the end of Riley Cooper come the offseason.
Cooper has roseman all over him.
He was the GM when that contract was given.
Do you think Chip not wanting to lose the last game had something to do with it — man i wish anyone had news.
My theory… Chip gave Lurie another ultimatum… like I’m not giving back the authority you gave me last year and Lurie said yes I am… Chip said if you do that then fire me. So call it what you want, Chip quit or Lurie fired him.
Very plausible. I think we’re going to be hearing a lot of partially substantiated stories about what went on to cause this, over the next month or so.
I think that plus everything else that’s gone on last 3 years. Chip clearly also hated the media, i’m sure he wasn’t that said to go. Going to be ironic if he finds success on another pro team.
And all the money he spent on Murray… maybe Lurie probably felt like he’s wasting his money.
especially somewhere small townish where the media isn’t crazy….like idk nashville
of course he will. only because it would be our luck
Unless he really really changes his thinking, no way.
Dick vermeil said it best; I used to be an idiot, but, then I got better players and became a genius”. Giving away a cool gadget player like DJ, and, ditching Mcacoy and then spending a pick on Bradford for Foles AND 10 million.
Not to mention the Murray situation.
Chip got a lot of rope and hanged himself. Didnt respect the fatman and building through the oline. Didnt realize the rest of the league is filled with smart students of football.
So. No. Kind of like thinking Steve Spurrier was going to be successful or the run and gun was going to work magic with out the talent.
Hope we get to play him . twice a year
i’ve seen this on the scroll of ESPN. Pretty much said Lurie asked Chip if he would give up some power as GM and Kelly balked, Lurie fired him
I don’t understand, didn’t chip just say he wasn’t the GM? How could he give up power he doesn’t have?
well i guess i can start scouting guys with questionable character for the draft this year
But you can lose the emphasis on guys who have injury red flags.
That is one fuming, seething statement by Lurie.
Hmmm?
Can you give a recap for those of us not in the area?
Acho taking shots
was Acho even on the team?
No, that’s why he is taking shots
At who?
he tweeted, “power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely” if i got that right
he who laughs last

Ugh. I hope people aren’t putting blind faith in this guy too. Part of the reason we are not a better team is due to some of his shitty drafts which we never seem to be clear on which he had a hand in.
I really like some of the players we have though. Lane Johnson is a big deal, i think Jordan Mathews helps. Then have a good bit of faith in Kelce.
Defense, you have some up and comming ILB or 4 3 LBs.
Dont have an amazing guy there at 4 3 DE or OLB but could be worse.
Talking to you guys about the FS or SS position though. Well. You all are rembering BDawk for the position and everything else is some kind of downgrade.
Kelce is really dependent on the scheme… he is good if he is on the move… struggles at anchoring line or blocking 1v1 against strong DT’s.
I don’t have faith in Kelce anymore, this is the 2nd season in a row he hasn’t looked good. Last year I gave him a pass for being injured. This year? No excuse for bad snaps, missed assignments, or getting blown off the ball. Many teams started lining a player over top of him, because he hasn’t done well this year and most of last year when 1-v-1 vs other players – and that’s what DCs have been exploiting at points this season.
Yes, he has always been a pulling and movement guy. I am not sure where it went wrong. I will try to focus on him a bit more.
I hope we get an offensive coach (head coach or just offensive coordinator) who uses Jordan Matthews downfield more.
And Agholor, and getting Huff open in space. And generating an offense that doesn’t play with 7 yards of the line.
Agholor has stone hands
Sean Payton? I’m in pain, but that would be nice.
dont think anyone has a clue
well supposedly Payton is addicted to oxycontin so maybe it kills two birds with one stone
Oooh. ;~)
So am I, maybe I can get the Saints job?
I’m interested in what is said at the presser tomorrow.
New post up
eagles are going to awesome next year
you spelled awful wrong
Lurie to Shurmur: You got his shit that worked down?”
Shurmur: “Yes Mr Lurie”
Lurie on intercom: “Yo Chip come holla at ya boy”
At least Shurmur won’t be as married to the playbook. I can honestly see us beating the pants off of the Giants with a cohesive team.
i’m not usually for tanking but i’d really like to have a high pick for our new coach
What about Azz? He is Chip’s best friend. It seems weird that he wouldn’t have walked out the door with Chip.
Honestly, it’s super obvious that Chip was just a gigantic asshole behind the scenes, nothing else explains firing someone week 16 after two 10 win seasons, his first two in the NFL.
Now other NFC East teams fans are clowning us hardcore. FML.
Why do you care… they are just as dysfunctional?
I thought Chip deserved another year and Lurie would give it to him. However, clearly it was Chip’s role as GM that cost him the job. My first reaction was Lurie probably asked him to step down as GM and Kelly wouldn’t. Some sources are now saying this was the case. I thought the team had quit on him before the Patriots game, but they seemed to play hard in that and the Buffalo game. I hope whoever comes in keeps Bradford who is better than any of the available options. No reason to bring Kap or any of the running QB’s available if the offense is going to change. I have never bought into a lot of the psychobabble about Chip’s personality, but he clearly wasn’t a players coach. He will get another shot at being an NFL head coach. Maybe he joins Marriota and that’s what he wanted. A lot of NFL head coaches failed with their first team, and later had success, some winning the Superbowl. I wish him well. On the other hand, I find myself looking forward to what now appears to be a very interesting off season.
