2nd Half – WAS 16 , PHI 10

That was the strangest end to a 1st half that I’ve ever seen. Kirk Cousins somehow forgot to throw a pass or spike the ball and instead took a knee, ending the half. The Eagles should be down 19-10, but Cousins went rogue (or insane). Jay Gruden might kill him in the locker room.

Sam Bradford is playing well. The OL isn’t. Those guys, especially Jason Peters, have to start protecting better. Bradford can shred the Skins if he is given the time.

The Eagles defense goes back and forth between good and bad. They have at least shown signs of life.

Chip Kelly normally makes good adjustments at the half. That offers some encouragement heading into the 2nd half.

To be fair, I personally think Chip figured that out as well.
In college he kept getting guys in and his first seasons here when we had to play a backup he did fine and played well in Chips system. I can see why he thought he could save some cap and not have it hurt our offense. Maybe just have 2 mediocre at best guards because of how good Peters, Kelce and Lane was supposed to be.
If he chooses to basically totally ignore OL again this off-season i’d be shocked. I could see Chip both paying big bucks and compromising with his system and getting bigger guys, especially since Bradford runs the offense slower.

Agree. I do see his reasoning, though. JP, Kelce, and Lane are top talents. Clearly, he misjudged the talent of Barbre and Gardner/Tobin. Also, he might have given JP one year too many. Not upgrading the swing tackle position might have been the big error.

My first impression: Bradford needs to be assessed when the Eagles establish that theirs is a run-first, run-tough, move-the-chains running offense. The dink-n-dunk passing game is a consequence of no consistent running success, and this is how players’ confidence and commitment are eroded. Impression no. 2: our defensive line is far from stout, and our ILB’s are bordering on horrible. Washington was able to do what Eagles were trying to do, and that is an insult to our D, which it earned.

I don’t see that as the case. Brady is never a threat to run, but defenses cannot rush 3 and not get gashed with substantial runs. Bradford is no Brady, but the same logic applies. Average 4-plus yards a carry, and the pass defense will be more vulnerable. As it is now, a non-blitzing defense can get serious pressure on Bradford, and he rarely gets receivers that are clearly open. Why? Because the running game scares nobody. I definitely want Kelly back next year… just to see what he does differently, and who he kicks to the curb.

I kniw it will be a long offseason, but many of you guys have crazy QB expectations. You see Tom Brady and Cam Newton play and say “lets just go draft one of those guys.” They are 3-4 elite QBs in this league that can cary their team by themselves. Everyone else needs talent around them to be successful. Guys like Russell Wilson, Tony Romo, eli, etc are at their best when they have great running games and defenses. Unless we draft top it his highly we find that elite QB. Bradford is going to be our guy of the future and I agree with that. The key is surrounding him with talent.

1)He’s never played like anything close to a top 10 QB no matter who his weapons were. Stiffs like Austin Davis have outplayed him with the same weapons. He’s never played well, because he’s not good.
2)I’ll take my chances with a draft pick or a reclamation project like Kaepernick (yuck) or RG3. Investing any more time or money in Bradford is a waste.
