Eagles Roll in Indy

The Eagles beat the Colts 33-23. That score is misleading, though. The game wasn’t anywhere near that close. The Eagles were efficient and explosive, while the Colts looked like a major mess until late in the game.

The defense had been outstanding the first two weeks and that continued tonight. The offense took a big step forward, gaining 388 yards and scoring all 33 points. There were no short fields off turnovers. This was good offense. We do have to factor in the Colts defense, which was missing their top 3 CBs and top pass rusher. To make matters worse, they lost another CB early in the game.

Sam Bradford had a clean pocket and picked the Indy secondary apart. He went 17-20 for 167 yards and 2 TDs. And a couple of those passes were dropped. He had time and made good throws. I liked the fact that Bradford spread the ball around and was willing to work downfield. He mixed in some checkdowns, but got the ball down the field on a few plays.

You can’t have a good passing game without some receivers to catch the ball and those guys came alive tonight. Josh Huff apparently decided keeping his NFL job was better than becoming Jimmy Kempski’s gardener or Les Bowen’s hair stylist. Huff caught a short pass and flew up the field for 38 yards. That’s exactly the kind of play the coaches have been waiting for. They know Huff is a weapon when he’s got the ball, but he has to show that he can catch it and make those plays. He later got the ball on a jet sweep and ran for a 13-yard TD. He has speed.

Chris Givens caught a 19-yard pass on 3rd/17. Dorial Green-Beckham caught a short pass and fought through a tackle to turn that into an 11-yard gain. He later caught a fade pass for a TD. See how easy that was? No one had to turn into Jerry Rice. Just go make some plays. One guy who didn’t do that was Nelson Agholor. He had one pass thrown his way over the middle and couldn’t make the grab. The DB beside him did make the grab and that set up the only points the Colts got in the 1st half.

The starting O-line had a strong night. Stefen Wisniewski played LG with them and they were even better than last week. I do think the Colts defense was part of that. Trent Cole, one of my all-time favorite Eagles, was supposed to be their primary pass rusher. That should give you an idea of how non-threatening they were. The OL opened good holes for the runners all game long. The Eagles were 23-131 on the ground (leaving out a Chase Daniel kneel-down).

Jim Schwartz got another strong performance from his defense. They sacked Andrew Luck 3 times, limited the Colts to 18-39 on the ground and took away big plays for most of the game. Oh yeah, and they picked off another pass in the end zone. Let’s hope that trend continues in the regular season.

The thing I liked most about the defense is that Schwartz mixed and matched players all game long. Marcus Smith played in the 1st half. CB C.J. Smith came into the game in the early 2nd quarter and stayed for a long time. Schwartz mixed his LB pairings in the Nickel to get reps for everyone and to see how guys played together. I thought Jordan Hicks had another outstanding game and Nigel Bradham played well.

STs were up and down. They gave up a blocked punt and missed an extra point. Caleb Sturgis nailed a 47-yard FG. Kenjon Barner had a 25-yard PR and a 35-yard KOR. Wendell Smallwood added a 30-yard KOR. It looked like the gunners did a better job this week.

There were some injuries. Smallwood took a big hit on an inside run and left the game with a possible concussion. Taylor Hart got hurt. Vinny Curry has a knee injury, but it doesn’t sound serious.

The Eagles are now 3-0. I could care less about that. I am happy that they have improved each week. This was a fun game to watch, but I can’t stress enough that we have to factor in how poorly the Colts played for 3 quarters. I watched the game on NFL Game Pass and we got the Colts announcers (who were dreadful). They said several times that Eagles penalties were the Colts best plays of the game (until late). That’s not good.

As a quick aside…how bad were the announcers? The play-by-play guy got their backup QB’s name wrong for most of the 3rd quarter. Scott Tolzien was somehow Scott Tolziel. The guy corrected himself, apologized and then got it wrong again. They listed the Colts offensive coordinator as Rod Chudzinski. His name is Rob. And then this.

Nice.

Quick thoughts on a few players

  • Matt Tobin appeared to have a really good game.
  • Josh Andrews played LG and C. He had some good blocks.
  • RB Byron Marshall is a quality prospect. He will block. He runs better inside than I would have guessed. Should be PS guy.
  • CJ Smith played well. I think he is in the mix for a roster spot.
  • Marcus Smith had a quiet game.
  • Rodney McLeod looked terrific. Can’t wait to watch him this year.
  • Beau Allen had a sack. I’m loving this guy in the 4-3.
  • Mychal Kendricks failed to stand out, good or bad. He was playing late in the game. My guess is that the coaches wanted him to get reps, but he might have taken that as an insult.
  • Trey Burton was 5-35, including a TD. Glad to see him get the ball and show his skills.

Glad to see the defense playing well with the new system in place. Has to give Jim Schwartz a lot of confidence that his players have the basics figured out and he can feel free to add new wrinkles and adjust the game plan for each week when we get to the regular season.

My wife is a Bills fan and I watched them go 9-7 and just barely miss out on the playoffs w/Schwartz as DC even though the Bills offense was an absolute train wreck with Kyle Orton as QB for a significant part of the season. The games were never pretty but they’d score 13 to 20 points off turnovers and short fields beating up guys like Aaron Rodgers to come away with unlikely victories.

Not expecting too much magic this year but the anticipation to see Wentz on the other side of a good defense could be unbearable.

    Agholor is a flat-out embarrassment.

Look, we’re told he works hard and has natural athletic ability, but the man is (almost) catching the same ball and wearing the same ridiculously sticky gloves that UDFA Paul Turner is. Yet, he repeatedly fails to actually catch a ball that hits him in both hands, and turns it over to the defense. Obviously, his head is not in this game. I don’t know what should be done with a high draft pick who flames out this early. Can we afford to bury him on the depth chart in the hopes the Ritalin fairy shows up, while we need effective players on the field every week? Putting this joke out on the field, much less starting, is insanity. Josh Friggin’ Huff looked like Steve Smith (the good one) out there, by comparison.

  5. 5 Greg Tulino said at 1:06 AM on August 28th, 2016:

Agholor is a Chip regime pick. Both HR & DP did not make that pick so they could get rid of him if they wanted to. Still, I believe you have to give him another full season to develop. Most WR’s take a decent leap in year 2. As a 1st round pick we almost have to give him another year to see what he can do. You just have to hope that eventually the light bulb goes off and all those scouts projecting him as a legit 1st round talent will be correct. In recent years 1st round WR’s have made instant impacts on offenses around the league, but history suggests that WR’s need a few years to properly grow and reach their potential. I am still holding out hope that he can be a legit #2 WR in this league.

MSII showing signs of life. Shouldn’t have been a #1, but he’s starting to look like a legitimate NFL player. There were times that 1st season, most of us wouldn’t have believed that.

  8. 8 PacificPurl said at 4:15 AM on August 28th, 2016:

Beau Allen, Hicks, Rowe are all Chip regime picks too. Jenkins and Sproles were brought in, to much ridicule at the time, by Kelly. There are 6 of Chip’s position coaches still on the team. Etc. Let’s keep it real.

  9. 9 BlindChow said at 9:25 AM on August 28th, 2016:

Holy hell, you have to be kidding me. It’s like Pavlov’s Dog with you. “DID SOMEONE SAY CHIP??? I MUST DEFEND HIS HONOR!!!”

Did you really read that comment and think the user was saying “All Chip picks are bad!”? He was pointing out they could cut ties with him without losing face because he was a product of the previous regime (same with Rowe, as has been speculated after his plummet down the depth chart).

But, I have to ask: since all you do here is defend Chip and offer nothing about the current regime or direction of the team (other than pointing out if Chip did something similar), was there anything Chip did you think was a mistake? I’m guessing not…

He has shown nothing to indicate he has made any type of significant jump. On the flip side, he has shown a lot to prove he hasn’t made any type of jump.

With that said, due to his draft status, potential, and physical talent we need to keep him for at least this year.

Keep in mind that it’s not like we are stacked at WR.

    – Trevor Siemian threw his first touchdown pass of the preseason and tightened his grip on the Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback job in a 17-9 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night.

After showing off his strong right arm over a first half that included a 1-yard pass to Virgil Green, Siemian accepted hugs from his teammates and gave way to rookie Paxton Lynch, who was also impressive in his half of play.

Broncos look poised to go with Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch as top two quarterbacks
With Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch slotted as the top two quarterbacks, the Denver Broncos may look to cut ties with Mark Sanchez.
That left Mark Sanchez as the odd man out on this night and, plausibly, come cut-down day. If he’s not on the 53-man roster, the Broncos will save $3.5 million and the seventh-round draft pick they would have owed the Eagles.

I would think the answer would be yes, but I am waiting to get confirmation of this. Most likely nobody would trade for him, but its worth knowing as an Eagles fan who wants to see our team get that draft pick.

Now that Randle seems to be on the outside looking in, can anyone explain why Ron Brooks is such a lock to make the roster? He doesn’t seem particularly good at anything, he isn’t young, and he means Grymes, Smith, or both are out.

  26. 26 D3FB said at 8:16 AM on August 28th, 2016:

    #Schwartzguy

I agree though. I think Howie would prefer to keep the younger guys. I actually found myself wondering if Smith getting so much time last night was less about Mills/Rowe than we would think. Mills and Rowe are pretty much locks. Carrol and McKelvin are locks. I think they wanted to really see what they had in Smith and throw him in the deep end a bit and see just how ready he was. He passed. For what it’s worth I just posited this on twitter and Barchard agrees.

If Grymes is healthy on Thursday I’d split nickel reps between him and Smith.

  27. 27 Greg Richards said at 9:12 AM on August 28th, 2016:

I agree. One thing I’ve noticed is that they have rotated the 2nd and 3rd team players. The first preseason game Watkins and Maragos were the 2nd team safeties and both played well. In the second preseason game, Countess and Reynolds were the 2nd team safeties. Last night, Marcus Smith was ahead of Steven Means in the rotation. I don’t think it necessarily reflects what the depth chart will be once the regular season starts. It’s for evaluation purposes.

  40. 40 BlindChow said at 9:33 AM on August 28th, 2016:

Did CJ Smith really play well? It seemed like every pass play in the first quarter was completed against him. I mean, he usually tackled pretty quickly after the catch, but my impression was he was always a step behind.

I agree with meteorologist below. He’s doing what he’s supposed to do. Schwartz defense is predicated on pressuring the QBs while the DBs prevent big plays. Make the offense earn every yard with short gains if they get anything. Smith did his job. He wasn’t flashy, didn’t do anything spectacular, but was there to make the stop.

If he becomes a starter we’re in trouble, but as a depth CB he looks the role.

  48. 48 Gian GEAGLE said at 11:18 AM on August 28th, 2016:

We have no use for him. We have 5 LB’s with playing experience, and the 6th LB spot will be used to keep Bryan Braman on this team, since we have 5 DEs that need to make the roster.

Great to see a new coaching staff having this team playing a DISCAPLINED brand of ball.

Last nights performance did nothing to change my mind about the Eagles. I still think the division will be decided between the Eagles and the skins..
    ..
The Giants are a joke. Shame on any media member that puts a team with that mess of an OL on a pedestool. Our recent dominance of the Giants comes from our DL kicking the Giants OL’s ass every time we play them and they died NOTHING to improve their OL even tho they went dream team shopping…
    .
The Eagles won’t be ready to contend this year, but im going into this season expecting to win this wide open division, and anything less is unacceptable as long as we aren’t ravaged by injuries of course
    ..
Dallas Defene is a joke. Giants OL is a joke and Defense has some glaring weaknesses that we can pick on, specifically slow safeties and bad LB’s…

Think it is a lot easier to play penalty free when you are in control and winning match ups. Think a lot of penalties happen when teams are under pressure and are trying to force things.

Think this is going to be a solid if unspectacular team this year – which will be enough to keep us in contention into December in a weak division – and at that point it will depend on injuries, a few key plays to decide who wins.

  76. 76 Gian GEAGLE said at 12:27 PM on August 28th, 2016:

I agree… I expect the Eagles and Skins to be the teams fighting for the division in December. Assuming Kirk Cousins ISNT terrible this year.
    .
Can’t respect a Giant team who has the worst RT/RG tandem in the NFL, and Justin PUGH ISNT exactly a world beater on the other side. Their Center is pretty solid, and I like their second year Left Tackle Longterm, no idea how he will look in his second season… Clearly the Giants have the worst OL in the division, and I will NEVER exoect the team with the worst Line to win the division.. Giants probably have the worst RB’s in the division, only the Cowboys are weaker at TE than the Giants… Slowest safety tandem in the NFL, Nothing special at LB, but because they ODB, the media over looks all their flaws and thinks they will be a good team this year SMH…. Yesterday on the Radio after Romo injury news came out, I heard 5 local philly media members all pick the Giants to win the division..WTF is wrong with people? In what world is OL weakness easy to overcome? Why would ANYONE think the Giants can protect Romo from our front 7 this year? The Giants better hope JPP learns to play with his hand blown off and gets back to the Player he used to be or that defense will be a mess again… Although the Giants might have the best group of corners in our division.
    ..
our media thinks we are the worst team in the division, basically because we don’t have big name WR that our rivals have which is a joke since they are overlooking all the sever weaknesses our rivals have at key positions….it’s ONLY preseason, but I’d rather our first team look like the Eagles than to look like the Colts offense last night…. The colts are a prime example of why Having a QB and WR ISNT enough if you have a bunch of glaring weaknesses at other positions.

  77. 77 Gian GEAGLE said at 11:35 AM on August 28th, 2016:

Marcus Smith is going to make This team, he has been living in the backfield playing in schwartz scheme, and Jim wants his DE to penetrate and disrupt.
I’ll be shocked if the Eagles DONT keep all 5 of our DE’s and use the #6 LB spot to keep Bryan Braman leading our special teams.
    ..
Reporters are questioning if KEndricks was pissed off that he had to play late in the 4th quarter. Not sure how to read that. Media assumes it was disrespectful and a bad sign, but can we really rule out wanting him to get some extra work in after missing the entire preseason?
    ..
Love how Gritty Bradham is and Hicks made some big plays last night…
    ..
Not sure what to make of Bradham and Hicks playing in Nickel instead of Kendrcks and Hicks?
    ..
Curious to see who wins the Nickel corner job? Brooks? jaylen Watkins could come in as a 3rd safety and have Jenkins move down to play the slot instead of putting a 3rd corner on the field… Or one of the young corners eventually take Brooks spot? Hopefully Grymes will be able to play on Thursday
    ..
It baffles me how well our War Rhino Beau Allen looks in schwartz penetrating 4 man line.. But it’s great to have his girth and power against the run, since he inexplicably is able to generate a pass rush, what a pleasant surprise… hopefully we can get a conditional pick for Taylor Hart… Anyone know how the 3-4 Steelers DE depth Looks? Anyone know what the Niners have at DE behind the ducks Armstead and Buckner?

When then hell was the last time the Eagles had a Fade weapon in the Redzone at WR? A single tear of joy rolled down my face seeing DGB catch that TD FADE with such ease,,,, yes they were Backup corners we were facing, but unless they have starters who are at least 3 or 4 inches taller than last nights corners, odds are DGB is still coming down with those jump ball opportunities… I also love that he is a serious weapon running slants, using his big body to block the corner, catch the ball, break a tackle or two and he is off to the Races…. I want to see what he looks like catching a screen, and sending him deep on a fly pattern….. This has a Chance to become one of the greatest trades of Howies career….. I think the Titans are bat shit crazy to give up on a kid with his ridiculous upside after one year, and DGB/Eagles coaches can end up making the Titans look really stupid if he even grows into half his freak ceiling
    ..
Props to Josh Huff. hopefully last night was the confidence booster that kid needed to finally get him going. Amazing that after a couple months Doug Pederson and Reicht already figured out how to use Huff better than Chip ever did even tho he knew huff since he was in highschool SMH…. I got a big laugh out of Jerry Rice bashing Chip Kelly and his offense
    ..
If Nelson Agholar makes a mistake like that in The regular season, it’s time to bench him for the rest of the game and send him a message. im ok gifting the first round pick a roster spot in Only his second season, but im tired of Agholar being gifted playing time… Notice bradford didn’t throw Agholar another pass after that mistake…. I feel bad for SAM, half his INTs as an Eagle come from balls bouncing off WR’s hands,,his numbers would look so much better if we can just cut down half the drops
    ..
Burton, DGB, Jordan Mathews, ERTZ, SProles…. Funny how the narrative is that we have no weapons and our passing game will be one of the worst in the NFl… Good luck with that one.. Like I said, we may not have a superstar WR, but we are primed to go back to the old blueprint of success when Donovan see to spread it around to 8 different Targets…. We don’t have weapons? Really? How many safeties and Linebackers in our division who are capable of matching up against Burton, ERTZ, and Sproles? Sean Lee? Who else? Not the slow ass Giants safeties or their average at best LB’ers… Deangelo hall at safety?
    ..
The medias Ignorance will be crystal clear once we see how relevant the Eagles are in the NFC east, even tho everyone in the media had us as the worst team in the division, basically just because we don’t have a superstar WR like DEZ or ODB… ignorance at its finest

  81. 81 Gian GEAGLE said at 12:16 PM on August 28th, 2016:

    How are DGB’s hands?
    ..
Beautiful simple play call by Pederson, he sent Sproles in motion which forced the Colts to show their coverage and SAM knew DGB was going to get a one on one opportunity and it looked effortless how he jumped up and secured that ball…. Something that drove me insane was why redneck Cooper Wasnt a better fade weapon
    ..
Jordan was a man possessed this offense, catching everything thrown his way, if that can carry over to the regular season it will be a huge boost for this offense, especially on 3rd down when we need to move the chains. Trey Burton is our secret weapon. Not an easy player for linebackers and safeties to match up against, and our division rivals are pretty weak at Safety and LB for the most part.
    .
We aren’t even seeing our screen game yet which should be able to do some damage this year.
    ..
It’s all about our OL. How they perform will dictate how far this offense can go.

Brightens my day when you offer one of your positive posts. I am sorta’ kinda’ maybe sharing your optimism. After all, the D should be one of the very best and STs good and strong. Then what if the O is even above average? It might not take much. If the line can stay healthy, Bradford fulfills some of his potential (and stays healthy), the TEs play well, Mathewa and DGB catch the ball, Sproles and Matthews get used well (and Smallwood is a pleasant surprise), then 10-6, maybe 11-5 is in the sights. Win the Division, win the home playoff game, then, who knows?
On the other hand, I think I post something about glowing promise every year around this time.

  87. 87 Gian GEAGLE said at 12:53 PM on August 28th, 2016:

It’s not really league wide optimism. It’s not like I think we can compete with the Big Dawgs around the league. I just happen to think that the silly media has grossly under rated Us, while grossly over rating our very flawed Rivals…. Although I do worry about the skins if Cousins proves to be legit… And while we may struggle against the best teams on our schedule, so will our Rivals
    ..
We have the best combo in our division of OL and DL… The Cowboys may have a better OL, but their DL is pathetic, Giants may have purchased a good DL in Free agency, but their OL is pathetic. Skins are ok on both lines… But when you combine OL and DL, I think the Eagles are easily the strongest team in the trenches when it comes to the NFC East, and THE TRENCHES will ALWAYS be WHATS most important To me.
    ..
I think the media is crazy for not factoring in how much better SAM should be having gotten thru last season healthy
    ..
Think the media HASNT respected the fact that we have the best group of TE’s in the division, the best group of pass catching RBs, and we EASILY boast the best defense in the division… But none of that matters, media says we suck because we don’t have a big name WR like DEZ Bryant, and they overlook all the glaring weakness because teams have a stud WR like DEZ and ODB..
    ..
This might be an offensive league, but there are so many more Important positions than WR
    ..
It’s not like I think we can make any noise in the playoffs, I just know that we have been grossly underrated by the majority of local and National media, and I know that our Rivals are no where near the world beaters the media has made them out to be…
    ..
Last year we had a chance to win the division in late December. Our team from personnel to coaching is clearly improved from last year, while our flawed Rivals ARENT THAT MUCH better than they were last year, so why the hell wouldn’t I think we have a very good shot to win this wide open division as long as injuries DONT decimate us?

Figured, scrub thought he was given a job when he signed his contract, coasted himself right out of the league

  147. 147 Mr. Magee said at 6:12 PM on August 28th, 2016:

More surprised by Givens that Randle… Neither did a whole lot, but wouldbn’t be surprised to see Givens catch on somewhere

  148. 148 Greg Richards said at 6:02 PM on August 28th, 2016:

Eagles were merciless with the cuts.

    DT Mike Martin
    WR Chris Givens
    WR Reuben Randle
    LS John DePalma
    CB Randall Evans
    CB Denzel Rice
    S Nick Perry
    OT Andrew Gardner

LB Joe Walker and DE Alex McAllister to IR.

Should put us at 74 players(Lombardo says 73 so one of ours math is off).

i guess gardner didn’t cut his salary enough

  150. 150 Greg Richards said at 6:12 PM on August 28th, 2016:

Where this team is at, it makes more sense to keep young developmental guys(Gordon/Vaitai) over Gardner. You usually only keep 7 OL active anyway and that will be Wisniewski/Tobin. Knock on wood that you don’t suffer injuries. I think even if the Eagles did have injuries that Gardner would be on the street and could be re-signed.

  151. 151 Mr. Magee said at 6:15 PM on August 28th, 2016:

Agree. Plus Howie may have assessed that there are better options on the open market

  152. 152 Bert's Bells said at 6:09 PM on August 28th, 2016:

If they cut the vet WRs early to give them a chance to catch on with any other team, that’ll be the first thing either one caught all pre-season.

maybe they will sign WR Darius Reynolds and DL Jake Metz…I am just glad Gardner is gone, dude was awful

  155. 155 Greg Richards said at 6:24 PM on August 28th, 2016:

Caplan updated and said they were just workouts and not necsssarily signings. Possible they sign them to give them a quick look. Read that Reynolds hurt himself in the Arena Bowl though.

  160. 160 John Galt said at 6:33 PM on August 28th, 2016:

Surprised they still have both kickers on the roster, maybe trying to get a 7th for Parkey?

    Perhaps.

  165. 165 A_T_G said at 7:44 PM on August 28th, 2016:

Givins and Randle? Nice. That must mean Turner makes it.

Rice and Evans looked awful, as did Gardner. Inertia did not protect their spots. The others were long shots.

Martin is a bit of a surprise. Maybe they decided the offers for Hart weren’t good enough to let him walk. Or, could they be sending a message for the future that if you don’t make a decent offer, the guy might not become available?

Mcallister is a convienient IR. Hopefully he gets healthy and stronger.

I like the idea that cuts actually match what we see on the field. It will be interesting to see if that continues to hold.

    Guys

I need your help! I’m in a 14 teams keeper Fantasy Football league and the draft is next Saturday. Because my team sucked last season I will be drafting No. 2 overall.

The following players are not protected:

    QBs:
    Aaron Rodgers
    Cam Newton

    RBs:
    David Johnson
    Zeke Elliott

    WRs:
    Antonio Brown
    Julio Jones
    AJ Green

I am really undecided who to pick.

At the moment I am going into the season with Jordan Matthews and Jimmy Graham as my protected players.

Your professional advise is much appreciated.

  169. 169 John Galt said at 6:36 PM on August 28th, 2016:

Antonio Brown, especially if it’s PPR

  170. 170 GermanEagle said at 6:40 PM on August 28th, 2016:

And if he goes No. 1 OVR?

  171. 171 anon said at 6:48 PM on August 28th, 2016:

Assuming otherwise standard scoring I’d go Julio, i don’t believe the avid Johnson hype although they did give him a lot of work today.

What does it cost to keep a player?

  172. 172 GermanEagle said at 7:00 PM on August 28th, 2016:

Nothing. Every team can protect the same player for 3 years in a row. So in case rookie Elliott is really that good he might be worthy of consideration??

  173. 173 anon said at 7:18 PM on August 28th, 2016:

hard to say, lots of good rbs, fournette and others come out next year (at least thats’ what people said when cowboys drafted him no. 3.

That said I’d go brown, Julio, Zeke, AR

  174. 174 A_T_G said at 7:54 PM on August 28th, 2016:

Another perspective is that 3-down feature backs are becoming rare. Dallas has already shown a willingness to work a RB. Maybe you grab Zeke and worry about WR later.

    Just a thought.

  175. 175 GermanEagle said at 7:46 PM on August 28th, 2016:

    Just checked my league rules:

You get 3 extra points for every reception of 10+ yards.

  176. 176 anon said at 7:58 PM on August 28th, 2016:

that’s crazy, makes the decision a lot easier.

  177. 177 John Dunkerley said at 12:35 AM on August 30th, 2016:

Those announcers were horrid. There were some gems. At one time they called Nolan Carroll Mark Anthony, said Wisniewski was on defense somehow (when he clearly wasn’t even on the field), called Barner ‘Kenyon Barnyer’, and Smallwood returning a kick (clearly his name was visible on the back of his jersey) was somehow Josh Huff! 😀
