Speechless

I was confident that the Eagles would play well and be competitive. I had no idea they would play the game of the century. Okay, that’s a bit of hyperbole, but the Eagles were great. They dominated on offense, defense and STs.

This was a 100-percent butt-kicking.

The Eagles are 3-0.

They have allowed the fewest points in the league.

They have the largest point differential in the league.

They have yet to turn the ball over.

This team is legit. You don’t luck your way to a start like that. You earn it.

The scary thing is that the Eagles have gotten better each week. This team is good and is still a team on the rise.

Analysis to come later. For now, just enjoy having a damn good football team once again. What a great day.

*****

Sounds about right to me.

I truly haven’t felt this good about an Eagles yes am since the ’04 season. It’s amazing to me what this means, and I like to compare this game to the game we played against Pittsburgh in their stadium with Big Ben in his rookie season. They whooped our ass that game and other than the Super Bowl was our only true loss that year. Wentz, the Oline, and Schwartz’ D all look mighty impressive so far.

  15. 15 Tumtum said at 7:34 PM on September 25th, 2016:

  35. 35 Dragon_Eagle said at 7:37 PM on September 25th, 2016:

The Eagles also have the coaching staff to properly prepare a rookie, especially one coming from D-II. Fisher knows nothing of developing QBs and the Browns are, well, the Browns. Yes, those teams missed on the evaluations, but I doubt they could have gotten Wentz ready the way Pederson and Reich have.

I posted this yesterday in one of the threads. Thought it was worth another look.

    How dumb am I?

I was looking forward to observing the development of our rookie QB, watching the growth of a truly stout defense under a knowledgable, experienced DC, learning about our new head coach’s approach, determining what key draft/FA holes needed to be filled and which are surprisingly solid, and, in other words just relaxing and enjoying a mediocre season of a rebuild year as the Eagles go somewhere between 6-10 and 8-8. Doing all that while sitting calmly in my living room, sipping lemonade, taking care of things about the house. No pressure, just enjoy the ride this year.

F#$@. Two wins against crappy teams plus a six pack of Koolaid down and I’m now all hyped that this team might possibly be something more than decent and beat the Steelers tomorrow. Screw cautiously optimistic. I can’t wait for 4 PM tomorrow. I’m gonna don my fading Westbrook jersey, let the blood pressure skyrocket, the brain freeze, the lungs explode, scare the hell out of the dog, and flirt with having divorce papers served on the grounds of transforming, Jekyll & Hyde-like, into an unrecognizable midnight green creature on Sundays. I may even have a beer during the game.

Nowhere in my wildest dreams did I think we would win so dominantly.
Big Ben actually looked like a frazzled QB who couldn’t do much against our stifling defense.
I can’t remember the last time I saw Big Ben rattled, but that’s the only description I can come up with as to why he overthrew his receivers over and over.
Great win for the Eagles and Pederson and the rest of the coaching staff.
Oh and a special shout out to coach Schwartz for once again out scheming the opponent and putting them on their heels for most of this contest.
What a great time it is for being an Eagles fan.

You know who else also really benefitted from this game – guys selling bootleg Wentz jerseys. My cousin saw a bunch of guys hawking them especially after the game along with silkscreen Wentz tshirts.

Wentz holds record to start career at 102 attempts without int. Prescott now has 90 attempts without an interception through 2 1/2 games.

Brady was 160 something to start the career — he just wasn’t technically a rookie.

Thanks, I edited my comment. 162 is the record to start career according to NBC telecast. . Brady had 3 pass attempts as a rookie according to NFL.COM.

Two longish passes tonight marked down at the 1 yard line. And he just completed a very nice intermediate pass with lot of YAC.. it’s just there was also many YAF (yard after fumble)

So if I’m Howie Roseman, and when Jim Schwartz inevitably looks for another head coaching job, I would pay him whatever he wants. I hope he’s not a one year wonder.

Sproles passes Herschel Walker and is now 10th all-time in all-purpose yards. Will likely pass Barry Sanders, LaDanian Tomlinson and Steve Smith to get to #7 before a few more games. Climbing higher will be harder after that.

I’m not buying the Cowboys or Dak’s hype. They beat two crappy teams and lost to a third all by a relatively narrow margin. On the other hand, the Eagles have beat three teams with two being crappy and one being a possible title contender (as of now in the season). On top of that the point differential is best in the league, I’m gonna go ahead and say the Eagles are the best in the division.

What are the odds that the Vikings (home vs Giants and Texans; bye) and Eagles can both win their next 2 games and both head into the 10/23 matchup at 5-0 at the Linc?

Even after the Bradford trade, I wasn’t terribly interested in that game but it is becoming increasingly more interesting especially given their records and how well Bradford and Wentz are doing.

Can that game possibly get shifted back to 8:30 by NBC?

  280. 280 John Galt said at 12:23 AM on September 26th, 2016:

only 3 games, but the Rams & Browns passing on Wentz has chance to be a historic error. Looks better than any rookie in yrs at similar point— Joe Banner (@JoeBanner13) September 26, 2016

  284. 284 Cafone said at 8:40 AM on September 26th, 2016:

yup. I would have taken a screenshot if I knew how to post images here.

My favorite is the claim about Dak stepping ahead (presumably as best rookie), followed by the reasoning that he just threw his first touchdown pass tonight. 3 games in. During which Wentz has been tossing TDs around like candy.

  288. 288 Nailed It! said at 12:59 AM on September 26th, 2016:

Holy shit they admit in the article how well Dak played against the Bears and then in the next paragraph the author discounts Wnetzs first two games that were against the Browns and Bears. It’s looney toons.
