Halftime – SEA 16, PHI 7
Posted: November 20th, 2016 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 443 Comments »Nelson Agholor is the worst person in the history of mankind.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about the game. The Eagles are down 9 points, but they’ve done a lot of good things. The problem is that one mistake on defense resulted in a Seattle TE and one mistake on offense wiped out an Eagles TD. Two plays. Two huge moments that affected the overall game.
Russell Wilson is playing lights out. Even when the Eagles get big time pressure on him, Wilson is finding a way to get away or to get rid of the ball. He is easily the most frustrating player in the league to go against.
The Eagles need to score early in the 3rd to keep this game close. They are not going to mount some great comeback on Seattle so it is imperative to stay within a possession of them. Getting a FG or TD to open the 3rd would put the Eagles where they need to be.
I don’t know what Jim Schwartz and the defense are going to do. Wilson is just red hot the last few weeks. Even when you’re right, you can be wrong. Coming up with a takeaway would be huge.

don’t think I’ve ever hated an Eagles WR more than Nelson Agholor
He’s definitely an all-timer.
Steve Smith
I mean a “Home Grown”
Steve Smith was a Giant (Douche)
I mean, Fred-Ex wasn’t good.
He was mediocre but he was funny in PC’s
T.O.
Nope I hate Ag more.
T.O wanted to win and get paid
Easy. Miles Austin last year. He stole money literally by being on this roster all year.
We all know Agholor is essentially un-cuttable due to cap reasons for next year. Legit question: What would be the cap implications if the ruthless, shameless thief were, say, the victim of a gang murder? Asking for a friend.
jeez
What? This is ridiculous.

Yeah that’s definitely dumbass….I mean Agholor. I stand corrected.
I hate this trips formation and hated when Reid used it here a lot.
What stupid thing did Agholor do this time?
Illegal formation penalty wiped out an X-play TD, and then dropped a wide open 25 yard pass that hit him directly in the hands in stride.
Also why is CBS covering and NFC game?
I was wondering that too. I think I read something a couple years ago out the rare double header game they call.
Agholar…I’ll stop there…and I’m here at the game
Well, we don’t have to cut Agolor, but we don’t have to play him, either. More PT!
Uhhhh 15 receiving yards by WR in 1st half…
Mathews ans Sproles both OUT.
Turner?
Paul Turner isn’t on the roster. He’s still on the practice Squad. The team was ready to make a move to get him on the roster if Matthews couldn’t go.
Wow. No TV feed in weeks but Agholar is always blowing it. Every game. Is it really this bad?
Yes. Yes it is.
worse.
He’s completely invisible all game, just shows up once or twice for a critical drop
Ruh roh. Seattle D looks pumped.
Welp. Shit.
brooks just gave up there.
Seahawks get another score and this game is over. Waiting for them to putting the finishing move on the Eagles in the next drive or two.

Another drop….sound like a broken record…
Play wasnt going anywhere
At least that one was inconsequential
Someone needs to make a play or we are gonna get boat raced
ugly ugly ugly
Yeah. Its about to get real ugly.
One pick 6 and it’s a different game
Agholor is going to set an NFL record for first player with negative jersey sales.
I haven’t seen this jersey for sale at any of the local sporting goods stores since the summer he was drafted. It is Wentz, Cox, and then a hodgepodge of limited availability.
Referee today is Carl Cheffers.
Eagles 2-5 with his crew since 2011.
cant blame ags on them
The refs aren’t awful today. Agholor however, is awful.
No disagreement
Just an FYI
Can we just give up? Do we have to play a second half
only down nine… tho it feels like more.
We’re terrible
Seattle is great. We’re fine, need to get better on the road
braman’s pony tail might be the best part of this game
[…] Tommy Lawlor Nelson Agholor is the worst person in the history of mankind. Now that we’ve got that out of […]
Is it me, or is this eagles team incredibly boring to watch?
i’ve been entertained. frustrated but entertained.
Boring because of their offense and what you have seen the last several years with high scoring and dynamic offenses generally.
more pope.
Maybe we should make Agholor a DB. Nothing ever gets caught near him
huh
Forgotten the Detroit game already?
Aways kinda reminded me of Nnambdi Assamooga
nice curry
Vinny!!
Uhg Barner
well this ought to be fun…
99 yarder to Agholor?
That would be poetic
as probable as a meteor hitting the Cowgirls plane back home.
only if you make him eat it and drive him down the field.
Agholor would have tried to catch that punt and fumbled
Is it too late to say fuck Nelson Agholor?
never too late.
Fuck Agholor is just like Dallas Sucks. It’s never the wrong time and never irrelevant
Nope. Not at all.
That’s what the stripper said?
Wentz hasn’t gotten much criticism on here but he has played poorly so far too including several questionable throws/decisions in the 1st half. Need more of out of him.
Safety
best case scenario
i stand corrected.
Damn, ballsy to line Smallwood 9 yards deep into the endzone
Punt
Good punt
Best punt of the day
It’s like Doug is mocking us. Only 1 WR on the field and it’s Ags
Bastard
good enough.
Great punt, win the field position game
may be the only game we win today
Poor decision. Throws again into an ill-advised throw he telegraphed all the way.
That’s a net 65 yard punt. Great play
Lost possession of the football which matters more. More important than anything including field possession down 16-7 in the 2nd half.
We aren’t driving 98 yards on this D. Maybe get a PI or a long punt isn’t a bad play
Their down two scores though in the 2nd half. Possession of the ball matters a lot more than field position at this point especially with the big plays the Seahawks have had.
I don’t get the frustration. Better than a punt
We’re done.
Treggs slowed down
treggs sighting
Was that double coverage by Sherman and Thomas against Treggs, and Wentz still went for him?
That gunslinger mentality
It was just foolish. 2nd time he did it today.
Good as a punt. Was that 70 yards?
Better than a punt
Also, have you guys seen a shit ton of holding by the Seattle OL gone uncalled?
In the offseason, I hope the Eagles seriously consider changes at the WR coaching spot. I get it that Greg Lewis and Doug have a familiarity, but honestly, I think JMatt and Ags have regressed this season.
Matthews was actually worse last year. They both suck. I don’t think you can blame Lewis.
Yeah I was going to say the same.
which receivers are agents that can be a number 1?
I have no clue if Greg Lewis can coach, but I can say with certainty that he doesn’t have the talent to work with that would allow saying he hasn’t done a good job, at least from the outside.
Treggs gave up on that route too. Slowed down.
NOOOOO
This one is probably gg boys.
WElp….that’s worst case scenario right there.
Yep, found rock bottom
This game is killing our season
Well, expected the loss, didn’t expect to lose the season too
well, that escalated quickly…
for the worse…
F@ck. Now Cox is down. This was a likely loss but they have already suffered meaningful injuries to Peters and Sproles.
PEters is fine
I thought he had x-rays?
Came back negative. He’s back out playing.
Freaking agholor got Cox hurt now. I hate this guy
Agholor just burned my dinner
I can’t watch anymore.
oh thank god
Cox looks OK. Everyone breathe.
our cox is ok!
Russell Wilson is so good
how the fuck.
And on cue, our secondary leaves someone wide freaking open.
Oh well
Ok I’ve seen enough, throw in the towel, send in the benchwarmers
just call it a game
It was over at half
3rd and 11 is basically an automatic 20yd play at this point
Reminds me of last year
At least the Cowgirls won’t beat these guys in the playoffs
they’ve been lucky as hell this year.
Beat who? SEA? They probably will
Nah. Bad matchup for them
They will run all over SEA
Wentz is over-matched today.
Yup. Losing 2 of the few weapons he had didn’t help. This might be the worst offensive skills players in the NFL with no Sproles/Mathews.
Might be?
Well the 1 guarantee this season was Mathews injury
Our wr overmatched every week
On the road
And of course that happened
And the complete lack of comments fretting over Barwin is the answer to the question this morning about paying him next year.
he didnt maintain possession
Embarrassing….I’m done….
That…
was an insult.
A personal insult to every iggles fan.
thats incomplete.
We are getting embarrassed right now.
sigh. terrible day of football
Redskins probably win tonight as well
im fine with the NFC east winning out and getting worse draft spots at this point.
We deserve this
This game reminds me of the 2005 massacre.
Just over-matched.
Out-coached.
Not enough talent.
I actually thought Doug has called a decent game. His players are leaving a lot of yards/points out on the field though.
i didn’t and hated the first drive play calling and not being committed to the run early on.
Hate the long toss to treggs. Killed our 1st drive momentum
Yeah more of a talent issue. Plus Russel Wilson is playing like an mvp
Cant agree enough sir. However if Ags doesnt line up incorrectly this would be a different game. I’ve never seen one player sabotage an offense so much who wasn’t a qb.
Made that comment, too.
I would kill to have a WR as good as Wilson
Ags wudve dropped it
is this worse than the last time we played seattle?
Not quite yet imo
That plays sums up today. Just outmatched and losing at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. A lot like the Skins game.
http://stillrealtous.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/stunner9.gif
im very curious what happens in the seconds that follow that GIF.
Whole game turned after Illegal Formation penalty
Yep
I’m not convinced wentz is the answer
foolish.
I’ve never seen him be clutch. Just saying
he’s been everything we can hope for this year.
I am excited by Wentz and certainly see the potential, but this is simply not true. He has had good moments and terrible ones. He has not played well the past couple weeks. Yes, he lacks weapons on offense, and that clearly must factor into things, but he COULD be playing better, and he has left some to be desired… at least for now.
Cause hes a rookie throwing to someone of AGs caliber.
He completed a number of clutch throws in the first 3 games, including a few 4th down passes that were thrown into windows a couple inches in size. And he just led a game winning drive last week. He’s a rookie, he’s gonna have ups and downs. He’s not playing well right now. But, he’s going up against the best defense of this decade with absolutely no weapons whatsoever. If Agholar could catch and line up properly this would be a tight game.
no choice he’s it for at least 5 years
He’s a rookie with a rotating cast on OL and sod all weaponry, you can’t judge anything this season.
you can go watch goff and feel way better about wentz
He has stunk today but this is arguably the toughest place to play on the road vs a veteran & experienced defense.
Receivers have 4 drops by my count. Maybe 5.
Agree to worry and wonder.
Has a big windup , overthrows short and underthrows long, his ball sails on him, but his wr’s do suck.
I remain hopefully optimistic
This. He has tools that you want, but also clearly has some flaws. They are fixable, but thay shouldn’t be confused with they WILL be fixed
I think he has the drive and intersst to keep improving every aspect. .. he will work all off season… i think he will improve his passing and develop better techniques
You know you’re outmatched when the other teams QB has better hands than your wide receivers
Lets find out who the quitters are now and who has balls
Send Agholor to the 49ers please
Yep
yup
WTF is Treggs doing on that pass ?????? WTF he stopped runnng, gave up, gad no idea where the ball was, he’s fukkkin lost out there… cant hold a canfle to desean
yep
I loathe him
This is without Michael Bennett playing for Seattle
and 2 rookies on their OL
DL performance is not great
I can’t wait until Wentz has at least a B receiver. Right now he’s working with two C’s and an F——-
Who gets a C?
Matthews
He cant catch
Cant catch a cold
Completely true. Now I think I was being way too nice.
So 1 D and 2 F’s
Why not go for ot
i mean, right in the fucking hands.
Is he throwing to high and hard for a short throw? Can’t tell
yes
Still have to make thst catch
Right in the hands
possibly, if he was throwing to me… not an NFL WR
Feel like ole Butcher Pete gonna run up the score (and chop that meat)
maybe Rawls will pull a hammy sprinting for the endzone
How are these guys getting paid millions of dollars to catch passes, but they can’t catch.
It’s almost physically impossible to spend so much time doing something (spending so much extra time on the jugs machine) and seemingly not improve at all. Anything you do that frequently you naturally get better at.
Think Bob Bicknell would tolerate Treggs’ lack of fight on that INT?
He’d be down his throat . . . threatening to take his dinner money
A few guys shudnt be allowed on the plane
We better not be #1 on dvoa anymore
Probably Seattle, DAL, and NE ahead of us at least
Idk how they wouldnt bench Agholor. He is literally a detriment to the team. Free Turner.
literally anyone.
eagles wrs have as many receiving yards as russel wilson
Jesus man….
and less TDs.
WTF? Cause its not hard enough, we gotta have more stupid penalties??!!
Man ..missing a chance to take a huge crush of a hit on that lame air ball floater to QB hurts
Wentz looks rattled for the first time all year
Not having able receivers probably kills your confidence
Damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t
abandoned the run again this game.
Screw passing,Deploy the Smallwood offense
How!?
Yep.
That was a spectacularly bad play by Wentz.
F U Wentz
Oh for crying out loud. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
someone teach Vaitai how to dive on a football
Get Wentz out of there
still a lot of game left
Yep
This is called our yearly game where we need to win and don’t look competitive in any phase
though that was every skins game
Touche
And a bad punt to boot, get us out of Seattle
Did I hear right? The Eagles WR have a combined 15 yards?
0 this half
Yup. Less than russell wilson
2 catches for 15 yards.
2 drops for far more
At least. They easily have more drops than catches.
I could see this game sending us spiraling down. I can’t see us winning again this season. No fight.
That’s a bit much, going into Seattle when they are red hot, and we are a terrible away team, we will get a few more wins back home
we had this game penciled in as a loss before the season. No surprise here.
Reality check. Had we not made a series of dumb mistakes – penalties, turnovers, this game would be close. But Seattle is too good. You make those mistakes and it turns into a blowout.
We at home next week?
home to the Packers on monday night, then at Cinci
Can say that for every loss. This team is one DECENT wr from playoffs.
no we have several decent pass catchers – people here wantz dez bryant and that’s not going to happen
I didnt say pass catcher, I said WR. We dont need Dez but we need a Maclin, Desean, Prior, Robinson, Landry.
Meant to say it directly – We have to play near perfect football, just to keep it close against this team.
Oh, and Russell Wilson is freaking good. I think I’d take him over any other QB in the league right now.
I’m late, but that Wilson TD reception was so embarrassing to watch.
Wish they had crushed Wilson just to facial pete Carroll
We got a few more wins in us, didnt expect a win here.
yeah @Seatlle is a game that’s hard to even imagine a win, unless they have major injury problems.
Do we have to win out to make the playoffs?
yes even then still maybe out of our hands
Seahawks have really impressed and Wilson is playing lights out. Just outmuscled the Eagles from the start and beat them badly on both sides of the line.
So that is what an open receiver looks like
So how many times can go with a play action bootleg before our defense stops biting hard?
been 5 seasons of the same thing
At least once more.
If it wasnt glaringly obvious to the Eagles brass before, this game shows how inept our WRs are
That is definitely part of it but even if the Eagles had better WRs they would be losing this game.
proabably but would imagine it would be a lot closer.
Nah. Eagles have gotten dominated up front on both sides of the ball but especially this half.
Defense is having a bad day, they’re supposed to be better than this, but this pass rush is just chasing Wilson into the open field, got to contain him
Containing Wilson is a lot easier on paper than in reality. He’s good.
Honestly, would be that frustrated with Wentz (and lack of weapons) . . .
If Dak Prescott and Dallas weren’t rolling along.
Lotta Dallas hate today.
The entire division is rolling along… except us
only one superbowl winner and as long its not from teh NFC east (it wont be) then im good.
would NOT be frustrated
DGB doesnt run well ..no fluid strides
Good controlled rush
there
Fuck Nelson Agholor
My disdain for Chip Kelly’s talent evaluation skills continues to grow.
The guy had control of personnel for less than a year (although he did manage to get DJax released even before being given total power) and still managed to turn the Eagles’ skill position players from one of the better young groups in the league to arguably the worst. He made terrible trades. He made terrible free agent signings. He made terrible draft picks. When it comes to bungling personnel decisions, he could do it all.
and we don’t even get to play the 49ers in his one year as coach there for some easy revenge.
djax benched, maclin benched.
Would still be the eagles 2 best receivers by a long shot.
We don’t have wide receivers….. we have wide droppers
Eagles are not 1 draft away.
Maybe 3 or 4.
2 with some good FA signings
Agree its 2. 3 or 4 is too far away in the NFL to almost project anything.
Hope you can keep Schwartz around this veteran defense, Wentz develops further, and in the interim they can retool the o-line and get enough on offense to help Wentz to have a semi-reliable offense.
Don’t need studs but upgrades especially at WR and RB
*good drafts*
look what dallas did with one draft
Put those guys behind this O-line . . .
i think two OL this offseason would shore up the OL. TE is fine, RB could make due. WR needs firepower.
And we need CB on D.
That was more than just one draft
That’s so depressing given Cox, Graham, Hicks, Jenkins, McLeod, and Logan
That’s the issue because this isn’t a young defense but a fairly veteran-laden group.
Depends on free agency too. We can be more competitive next year with the right moves.
Our WRs just outgained Wilson in reception yards!!! Woohoo!! Baby steps.
RB bodybag game, have your kids become kickers, folks
Here on out, evaluation of Wentz is primarily his ability to make complicated reads of zones…and make good throw into a window, unlike that last Ertz target.
can we play Ags at RB? please?
Why is Seattle allowed to tackle out of bounds? That’s at least the 3rd time I’ve seen what is usually unnecessary roughness.
Refs are Eagles fans, they aren’t protecting Seattle, they are pissed at the Eagles
Through 3 quarters our WRs combined for 2 catches and 15 yards. Even Russell Wilson was more productive than our WRs. Yikes.
wheels coming off right now on offense
So soft
Amazon with a Catholic priest wearing knee pads is rather disturbing
this offense looks so terrible…lots of echoes of Meltdown!Foles offense
Why run a route short of the sticks? Looked like the first read, ugly play call
Cause they’re stupid
Hard to tell on TV, but there was enough time for someone to be open more than 3 yards down field
How can we be this bad on the road and the polar opposite at home?
Actually, this is our worst game of the year. I’m not going to over react to one stinker
Washington was worse.
I disagree this is a bad team or that we’re that far off. We’ve beat some good teams but we are a rebuilding team that is inconsistent. Hence, why we didnt overpay for a WR before the deadline. If we were one player away, we would have done it. This year is about getting the rookies some experience and staying somewhat competitive.
We have NO RECIEVERS, are TE’s drop almost as many
So, we’ll hear this week . . .
You’re never as good as your best game (Pittsburgh at home).
Or as bad as your worst game (Seattle in their house).
True enough.
But it looks like the Eagles lack the skill players to threaten this year.
They are a home team. Pretty simple what the gameplan should be. Maybe that changed since the RBs are out
More pressing is their record (5-5) and all of the tie-breakers against them in the NFC.
They need to go 5-1 and sweep the rest of the NFC East games to really have a decent shot at the playoffs. That isn’t happening.
I see 3-2/2-3 including a very good chance the last game vs Boys means nothing to them with them playing backups from the start.
Playoffs are over unless the Giants and Washington both lose their QBs
Big Pharma likes the Eagles.
worst part is that dallas seems to be set up to be food for a while
A —
Keep thinking the same things because O-lineman last for years.
how are they going to pay their oline?
They last for years, but their Oline has been freakishly healthy it seems for the past 3 or so years.
They are what we thought they were. A .500 type team with a lot of holes. They have a lot of team building work still to do.
Our skill players lack skill. Kind of a big deal…
Alright, I’ve had enough. Tappin’ out of this one.
I just want to see us take Seattle’s season with us, like throw Wilson into Sherman and Thomas, except we need Seattle to stop Dallas from getting to the Superbowl
One things I’ve said a few times over the last 4 weeks, but I’m really puzzled now. Why are we not getting Celek more involved in the passing game? Yes, he helps block, but he makes plays on his rare opportunities to catch the freaking ball. Unlike everyone else not names Sproles.
Playing in Seattle is no small task, but this is just abysmal. I’m seriously concerned with our offense. Haven’t seen much progres, just regression. This is bad.
oline wins, we have a chance – ol not winning tonight. defense not getting stops either
Feels like we haven’t seen a compleyed deep ball since week 3
On the bright side, we’ve seen less WR/bubble screens!
If Agholor gets his head out of his butt, this is a close game at the half and I think we see a different team. I believe Wentz is pressing because he has no one he can count on.
we lost our top 2 RBs and our OL has been rotating due to injury, in one of the hardest stadiums to play in against a very good D.. they’re not playing well, but it could be worse.
Comeback time!
….
well, there goes our field goal miss for the rest of the season, shame it didn’t come in a game we could’ve done something with it.
Garbage time WR action!
J matts time to shine!
JMatt just tripled the WR yards tonight with that catch
Eagles CB Leodis McKelvin exited Week 11 against the Seahawks with a possible concussion.
I lost in every possible football way this weekend. Every game out of four I rooted for — SEA, NYG, MIN, DAL. And lost all my fantasy games. Sigh.
Watch Agholor catch a TD pass and show us his new dance. I’ll puke
better be hari kari
Better be with another team next preseason 4th qtr
Really like Smallwood, will be great to get Lane back and become a power running team
giants 7-3, dallas 9-1
That was a terrible throw by Wentz holy shit
Where was he throwing that?
Jesus. the one time we have someone actually open, he fucking misses him.
Quick reminders . . .
Eagles passed on Wagner for Kendricks.
Seattle took him with the next pick.
In hindsight yea but we cannot predict the future
speak for yourself
Speak for yourself
Rub the salt in a little harder!
I wish i bought Facebook at the high 5 years ago
F-A-D-E
L-O-L
D-R-O-P
Ok Eagles, stop wrecking those Seahawks, need them to break the Cowboys in December
yay
Aw bless his heart, he got excited
See what happens when you line up correctly?
I’d rather he’d have dropped it so I could hate on him more. Would have been more entertaining
Oh my god, that will buy his bus ticket to the airport, will need more if he wants a plane ticket
Now just need to recover 2 onside kicks and score twice. In Seattle. Piece of cake.
I must be dreaming. Did Agholor actually catch that ball or did they sneak in Paul Turner in a number 17 jersey?
Agholor’s only ‘catch’ doesn’t even show up in the stat column!
Rams win that game if Keenum plays, not Goff.
Jeez, Fisher’s clueless.
don’t think it’s fisher making that call
makes me gag to think DAL as second best team in league
They’re not. NE is better.
NE#1, DAL#2
You’re putting Dallas ahead of Seattle?
Personally, no but they have the better record
Dallas hasn’t played a good team yet. Overrated.
How awesome would it be if he got the hand off and run it back for a TD
Best play by Fletcher Cox since October 1st
Good to see the D is still playing hard. I don’t see quitting
3rd and 11, oh good. 20yd+ play again perhaps?
uh-oh – still time. get treggs in for a quick td
except hes on the sideline
Whelp, just got back from driving all the way across town and returning the poodle my wife bought that our golden nearly eviscerated.
How much are we winning by?
You basically just summarized the game
Your Golden is the C Ocks and we are the poodle
uh oh
big v down… when is lane back
That didn;t look good
Looked better by the time he got to the sideline
4 more games without Lane
He has no touch
they could conceivably win out from here, very winnable games upcoming
what u smoking?
lol, could not will.
Mango Haze.
Seahawks are a very good team. The Eagles are good at home, not as much on the road
GB, CIN, BAL — all very winnable
WAS, DAL, NYG — I expected to split before the season started and these are all home games
But really………..?
eh, this team is not as bad as this game. probably better to miss the playoffs anyway b/c we’re not doing any damage if we get in.
might as well just bag the rest of the season, get a RB next year or a WR
mostly because we would be in the playoffs as a wild card, so no home games, and we’ve seen how we do on the road
At least the team is showing some pride
That penalty comes from play design. If you’re throwing short to the RB in the flat, either the throw has to come more quickly or the WR needs to fake a route. otherwise, the blocking happens too soon. Penalty.
One reason Wilson is red hot is because Seattle receivers are running wide open through the Eagles secondary at all times. On the 92 yard drive, it was 2nd down and about 26 and the Eagles’ CB gave the receiver about a 30 yard cushion. It just seems the Eagles are incapable of drafting, signing, or devloping good CBs. Also, can Jaylen Watkins tackle?
not just the eagles. whatever voodoo combination they use seattle gets wrs open consistently.
Wilson extends a lot of plays.
I respect Mills’ fight, but there’s a reason why there’s almost no successful starting CBs in the league that run the 40 yard dash in over 4.6 seconds. As long as Mills remains that slow (so, forever) he’ll always be at risk for giving up a big play and thus be forced to give a large cushion. He’s just not a starting CB. Carroll is borderline. He won’t lose you any games as a #2 CB, but he’s definitely not good enough to be your best CB. Shame we soured on Rowe so quickly. He’s the only high draft pick we’ve spent on the position since Lito and Sheldon.
He is willing but not able.
Question: if Doug Pederson saw that Agholar was lined up improperly, and his reaction makes it seem like that was clearly the case, why didn’t he just call timeout?
I hope they ask him in the post-game
only saves 5 yards if he calls the timeout, not like the play was guaranteed to go 86 for a TD if they ran it again.
probably just decided to take the 5 yards and save the time out. Didn’t know it was going to be a ridiculous TD run
The bigger question should be why is Agholor on the field in the first place?
Always a chance they don’t catch it, I guess?
And announcers blamed Pederson for actually alerting the refs
I would say the loss was not that bad if it heled in the Draft. But we traded are Draft pick and Minnesota won. We need WR’s & TE’S BAD.
Would you rather draft 35 or 45? Losing affects the other rounds too.
I’m more disappointed by how we lost than that we lost… Our DL should have crushed Seattle’s OL, we’re not going to face a worse one this year, and obviously Agholor ruining the long touchdown. Just not a lot of fun to watch.
Treggs is not the answer
Not his fault the coach only uses him to run go’s.
When I played football, I was a WR. Every single play … EVERY SINGLE PLAY … I would line up, look at the line judge and say either, “I’m on the line, Sir” or “I’m off the line, Sir” and if they disagreed they’d tell you. This was just part of every single play. I never had to think about it. And, I never once in all my years of playing was ever penalized for illegal formation. I’ve heard from NFL WRs that the same thing holds true in the NFL. You can confirm with the line judge that you are lined up correctly so that you never get penalized for illegal formation. There is literally no excuse for such a penalty by a WR. I would have benched Agholar right then and there if I were coaching this team.
Agholor doesn’t want to hear about this.
Thats why i dont care about him .. i know he does care, but his responses to the press are our only interaction we get to rrly on
You can see WR’s in every NFL game look over at the ref and look for confirmation.
You know what makes me sad – if this team had Pinkston and Thras they would be better than what they have now.
I actually feel bad for Agholar. Chuck Knoblauch and Rick Ankiel come to mind. Major head cases.
He’ll probably get cut and play decently for another team, and help his new team beat us once.
Just hope he can put together one good game…maybe build off of that. Can’t get any worse (can it?).
I dont feel bad for him but i wudnt wish his confusion on anyone .
And coaching isnt working.
Hate to see him ruin a pro athlete career, but no more with us please. I liked Huff alot lot more.
At least Huff seemed to compete.
Far better athlete
He was the best receiver in the league at doing the little things like LINING UP ON THE GODDAMNED LINE CORRECTLY.
Barf inducing effort in the loss, but this is the bet team we’ll play all year. We have 6 games left that we should win. Can’t say if we’ll win all 6, but we’ve been excellent at home and I’m not impressed with Baltimore and Cincy.
I see 3-3.
Our 5 road losses have all been to teams currently in the playoffs. None of our remaining road opponents have winning records.
Losing huff hurts
*shakes fist at the dark, unforgiving sky* If only Huff were here we would have beaten these infernal Seattle Seahawks!!
No, but we would’ve seen just a little less of Agholor.
urine idiot
I just don’t understand the angst. We have a *franchise quarterback* folks. He needs a bit more seasoning, but he’s already *ahead* of where any sane person would have expected at the start of the season. And he doesn’t have an Ezekiel Elliot, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, Cole Beasley, *and* Pro-Bowl OL. So, for me, I’m a bit chill about it.
With a franchise quarterback and a solid defense, we have a puncher’s chance in any game — as long as Pederson delivers a gameplan that is not completely idiotic. Did you feel the same way with Chip after the first year? Or Reid’s Dream Team years? I sure didn’t. Those years I felt the Eagles didn’t have a chance against the top teams. And this was not just a lack of confidence in the players, I lacked confidence in the coaches, in the scouting, in the whole program.
Now, I feel like if we play a good game, a clean game, then we can compete with the Seattle’s and the New England’s and the Dallas’s and the Steelers’s of the NFL. Convert 3rd downs, run the football, avoid negative plays, grind it out. The longer we drive, the more our defense can rest, the harder it is for their offense to establish, the shorter their drives, the more tired their defense is, the longer our drives, the more our defense can rest, etc. That’s how we snowballed things on Pittsburgh. We were close to pulling the same thing against Seattle after we ground out the 7-6 lead, but those 2-20 and 3-16 conversions kept us from starting the snowball, and they turned the tables.
You know, we screw things up every game. And every game (except for Washington and now this one), we come back and make it close. I don’t fret over the inevitable early mistakes, as long as the team keeps grinding, we have that puncher’s chance. I’d say that today the injuries to Mathews and Sproles and Fletcher Cox being out on that 3rd down (where Wilson ran right up the middle) helped do us in.
We needed another defensive stop or two, and didn’t get it. We needed at least a FG on one of those early 2nd half drives, and didn’t get it. We probably could have played Wilson a bit better. Can’t win ’em all; I am fairly chill about it.
The only thing that gives me pause is that Carson Wentz *has* regressed. Is it just a transient loss of focus/confidence? Or were the first 3 games a mirage and he is now regressing to his true abilities? Reminding myself that he is still a rookie, I choose to believe it’s the former, in which case he gets a pretty hefty amount of slack.
This post strikes me as covering several stages of grief.
Me full of grief also … why do i keep hoping
