2017 Eagles Draft Guide – 1st Round

Posted: April 27th, 2017 | Author: | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 806 Comments »

OVERVIEW

This is a deep, talented draft class. The group is strong in areas of need for the Eagles so things match up very well. That doesn’t guarantee the team will get who they want in each situation, but it helps them quite a bit. If you boiled this down simply, the theme would be “Help Carson and Find Cover Guys”. The Eagles went up aggressively last year to get their QB. Now they have to build around him.

The picks:

1 – 14
2 – 43
3 – 99
4 -118
4 – 139
5 – 155
6 – 194
7 – 230

The needs:

CB
RB
CB
DE
CB
WR
CB
S
CB
DT
CB

I think you might get the picture at this point. The Eagles need corners. I hope they choose 2 and it wouldn’t upset me for them to choose 3. The team has failed to develop good CBs in the last decade or so. They need stability at that point. Enough with trying out free agents from the rest of the league. The Eagles need corners who can play here for the next 5 years.

RB is obvious. Ryan Mathews will be cut when he’s healthy enough to pass a physical. Darren Sproles is in his final year. The Eagles just moved Byron Marshall to WR so this position is pretty wide open. I would actually like the team to spend a couple of picks on RBs, or to draft one and target one as a primary UDFA. They need a couple of bodies to add to the mix.

The Eagles have Brandon Graham, Vinny Curry and Chris Long at DE, but need some youth there. Also, you can’t have enough good pass rushers. We’d love Marcus Smith to keep getting better and become at least a good role player, but you can’t count on that. Same with Alex McCalister, last year’s 7th round pick. Both have potential, but have questions as well.

WR is set for 2017, but Alshon Jeffery is here on a 1-year deal. Jordan Matthews is in a contract year. Nelson Agholor and DGB are both question marks for the future. As Howie Roseman has pointed out, you want to draft WRs a year early. They don’t tend to play well as rookies. If you need someone for 2018, you draft that guy in 2017. Things could change with Jeffery and Matthews and you could see Agholor and DGB play much better. Again…you can’t count on these things.

Rodney McLeod and Malcolm Jenkins give the team a good FS/SS combo, but as we saw last year, there is a need for a good 3rd Safety. Jaylen Watkins had his best season, but was still erratic. It would be good to bring in competiton for him at the very least. The Eagles could add a S as early as the 1st round or wait to the bottom of the draft.

DT should be good with Tim Jernigan on board and Beau Allen returning in September. But both are projected to be free agents after that. Destiny Vaeao showed promise last year and it will be interesting to see if Aziz Shittu can take a big step forward. Still, this is an area where the Eagles would like to add a player.

Do visits and workouts matter? Heck yes. The Eagles met with Carson Wentz multiple times last year. They brought in Wendell Smallwood and Alex McCalister so this isn’t all about 1st round picks either. I won’t go through all the Chip Kelly picks, but the Eagles had plenty of those picks either come to Philly or get worked out by an Eagles coach on campus. This stuff definitely matters.

One key point…not every visit or workout gets leaked before the draft. Always keep that in mind.

SO WHAT HAPPENS AT PICK 14

The Eagles like to have 5 names they are targeting for their pick. If those 5 are gone, they try to move back. Here is my guess at the 5 names for tonight.

WR Corey Davis
DE Derek Barnett
DE Charles Harris
TE O.J. Howard
DT Jonathan Allen

Let me start with a few names not in there. Dalvin Cook is my favorite RB on tape from the 2016 season. There are several red flags with him. He had some fumbling issues at FSU. He had multiple shoulder surgeries. He had a dreadful Combine. Not bad, but dreadful. There are character concerns with him, with multiple incidents in high school and college. He has not interviewed well with all the teams he met. You love the game tape, but everything else scares you.

It is possible the Eagles have him in the mix at 14. I don’t think that is the case. It feels to me like all the talk about Cook and the Eagles recently is a ploy by the team to get someone to trade up for him. All it takes is one or two teams to have interest and you can have a potential trade scenario. The argument for Cook is that he did have a great season and was a legitimately dominant college player. If you are comfortable with his shoulders and think the character stuff can be managed, there is a case for the Eagles taking him.

Reuben Foster had a great season for Alabama, but has had a terrible offseason. I left him out of my 1st round mock draft, but others feel he could still go in the Top 10. I’m not as high on him as a player as others and the off-field stuff bugs me. He doesn’t make sense for the Eagles with Jordan Hicks and Nigel Bradham each coming off their best years. Bradham is in the final year of his deal, but I’d like for the team to see about an extension. He was better than expected last year.

John Ross is an explosive WR that the Eagles would love to have. But there are serious medical concerns with him. He’s had multiple knee surgeries and just had a shoulder procedure this offseason. If he had a clean bill of health, me might be the team’s primary target. I’m guessing for now they would have interest if he slides to the 2nd round.

I could be wrong on all 3 of these players. Just educated guesses on my part.

Back to the guys who I think are targets.

WR Corey Davis – 6-3, 209 – Western Michigan

Had a great career for WMU. In 2016 alone, he was 97-1500 with 19 TDs. Davis can play in the slot or outside. He can win in traffic or make guys miss in space. He has terrific hands and has the mentality that he will catch every pass thrown his way. You love to see WRs who fight for the ball and expect to win. Davis is great after the catch. He can turn short throws into big gains. He is fast, physical and elusive. He can break tackles or leave defenders diving for air. Davis is really good in the Red Zone. He doesn’t need to be wide open. Put the ball near him and he will go get it. He has great body control and can make tough catches while off balance.

There is a concern with the level of competition, but remember that the MAC conference produced guys named Randy Moss and Antonio Brown. Not too bad. Davis played well against big schools. He was not the least bit over-matched.

The only other real issue is that he had an ankle injury that kept him from working out for teams. He looks plenty fast on tape, but teams do love to know a specific number. Is he 4.45, 4.5o or 4.55? I think he’s got such a strong body of work that you focus on that and forget the lack of a workout. Davis would be a terrific addition for the Eagles.

DE Derek Barnett – 6-3, 259 – Tennessee

Broke Reggie White’s sack record at Tennessee.  Not an explosive athlete, but a gifted pass rusher and darn good football player. Reminds me of Terrell Suggs when he was coming out of Arizona State. Suggs set the NCAA record for sacks, but then ran a terrible 40 and people wondered if he should go Top 10 or slide. The Ravens stayed on him and got a great player.

Barnett doesn’t wow you with athleticism, but he is a skilled DL. He knows how to use his hands and is very smooth with his shoulder dip. That helps him to get around OTs and to the QB. You have to love the fact he can close the deal. Getting pressure is good. Getting the QB down is even better.

He is a good run defender. While not a huge DE, Barnett is physical and tough. He is going to fight like a dog to hold the point of attack. One of the things I like most about Barnett is that he plays under control. Some pass rushers run around like the proverbial chicken with the head cut off. Barnett goes hard after the QB, but he has good awareness and is a smart player.

The argument against Barnett is that he’s neither a big DE nor a great athlete. His Combine workout was nothing special. That’s what you see on the tape as well…football player more than a pure athlete.

I think Barnett is good value in the middle of the 1st round. I think he would be an excellent addition to the Eagles DL. He can play on the right or left side and would fit well into Jim Schwartz’s scheme.

DE Charles Harris – 6-3, 253 – Missouri

For some reason, many Eagles fans are not fans of Harris. I covered that here. Let’s focus on Harris the prospect. No matter how much you like him or not, he is a very talented rusher.

For my money, Harris is the most explosive pass rusher in the draft. I didn’t say he was the best. He is the quickest off the ball. He explodes off the snap and is incredibly disruptive. He doesn’t always finish plays, but Harris affects play after play. There is real value in that.

The downside with Harris is that he’s not an ideal run defender. His game is built on exploding off the ball and that means he can be out of control at times. I also think that is one reason he doesn’t make as many plays. It can be hard to finish when you are going 100 mph.

Harris demands a lot of attention from the offense because he is so quick off the ball and in the backfield so much. It is hard to quantify this impact, but watch and game and you’ll see it.

Harris is worth a mid=1st round pick and would be a good fit in the Eagles defense. They would have to work with him on setting the edge on run plays, but would love his burst off the ball and relentless motor. He would look right at home in a 4-point stance in the Wide-9 front.

TE O.J. Howard – 6-6, 251 – Alabama

I listed Howard low in this group because I don’t get the feeling he’s likely to be on the board at pick 14. If he makes it that far, the Eagles might like that. The team has a trio of good TEs in place for now, but Brent Celek is probably in his last season. Howard would be a pick for the future.

Howard is rare in that he can block and catch. He wasn’t utilized nearly enough at Bama or he would be a bigger star. The Crimson Tide didn’t have a great passing game and that limited his numbers (45-595-3 as a Senior). Howard only had 7 TD catches in his career.

Put on the tape and you see a big guy who can run, catch and block. He is a gifted athlete, even looking like a WR at times. Howard has outstanding RAC skills. He can make big plays. He had a great showing at the Senior Bowl, giving you a feel of what might have been if he had better QB play in college. He plucks the ball naturally, whether on a quick throw or a pass down the seam for a big gain.

The big question with Howard is value. He is the best TE in the draft. But those guys don’t always do a lot as rookies. Also, you can find good TEs all over the place. He should be a Top 10 pick, but could slide because people are willing to pass on a TE.

Howard and Zach Ertz would give Carson Wentz a heck of a 1-2 combo in the passing game. You could split either guy out wide or line them up in tight. You could bunch them or have them in motion. The coaches would have a ton of flexibility. I doubt Howard slides to the Eagles, but if he’s there he deserves serious consideration.

DT Jonathan Allen – 6-3, 286 – Alabama

Allen is a Top 5 talent. He could go as high as 2nd overall. The issue with him is that he’s got arthritic shoulders. That could affect him in a year, 2 years or 10 years. Each medical staff will view this situation a bit differently.

Allen would come in to play DT and would give the Eagles a deadly duo up the middle. He had 22.5 sacks over the last 2 years, most coming up the middle. Schwartz loves DTs that can get up the field and create chaos, especially getting to the QB. That is Allen’s specialty.

If he slides to 14, that tells you teams are scared of his shoulders. That means picking him would be risky. I would lean toward taking that risk because he played so well at Bama. The shoulders weren’t an issue there.

OPTIONS

i’m not anticipating any crazy moves. The Eagles could move up if they really wanted a player. There is talk of them liking Christian McCaffrey a lot. I’m sure they like CB Marshon Lattimore a lot. I hope they don’t move up. I want to keep all 8 picks.

If anything, I’d like to see the team move down 5 or so spots and add a 3rd round pick. This isn’t likely because it seems a lot of teams are interested in moving back.

It is possible the Eagles have some other player targeted. They could love CB Kevin King because of his length and speed. He is a big time athlete. They could love CB Adoree Jackson because he is such a big time playmaker.

PREDICTION

My ideal scenario is the Eagles moving back, adding a 3rd round pick and drafting CB Kevin King. He can cover. He will hit and tackle. He’s tall, has long arms and runs like the wind.

Best guess is the Eagles stay at 14 and pick WR Corey Davis. I think the team is going to err on the side of caution when it comes to finding weapons for Carson Wentz.

I think Howard presents the most interesting discussion in terms how well stocked the Eagles are, or aren’t, at TE.

Ertz, while not anywhere close to Vinny Curry level stealing, is in a piss or get off of the pot year.

    http://overthecap.com/position/tight-end/

Ertz is the 5th highest paid TE.

He’s also settled into being a 70-800-4 guy.

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/E/ErtzZa00.htm

That’s not anywhere good enough for the salary, so I’d be good with Howard.

Didn’t realize he did some bonus conversion. Gives him through 2018 season’s end to prove his value.

Let me get this straight, Howard was underutilized at Alabama but is worth the 14th pick. Ertz was underutilized in Philly; therefore he is a bum.

Saw a reports that the Cowboys are interested in Conley, can’t it past them to use his red flags as an opportunity to get a top corner who probably WOULDNT fall the them otherwise.

Then again, knowing Cowboys history of being scumbags, Conley agent could be faking Cowboy interest to get teams like the Eagles thinking twice about passing on him.
    ..
Considering front offices are using media left and right to create smokescreens, can’t really trust anything

  19. 19 Media Mike said at 4:13 PM on April 27th, 2017:

A side note to consider (especially for folks that gave me BS last year when I kept insisting that RGMe would be a Brown) on Cleveland and Turd-bite-ski at 1 overall.

Pure hunch with the player specifics, but I think they’re trying to bluff somebody into moving to one to take Mitch, so they can get Watson later.

Haslem has been obsessed with these stupid BS gimmick system QBs since the Browns “lost out” on RG3. He compelled them to draft BS gimmick Johnny Football, then made them sign RG3&out.

    Watson totally fits that archetype.

  20. 20 Jason said at 4:17 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Watson does not fit Hue Jackson’s big arm QB preference, however.

Hue Jackson and big arm preference? Andy Dalton, Kessler…

  24. 24 holeplug said at 4:15 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Only pick that would make me throw my remote is Cook. I would hate Harris too but at least its a premium position. I’ll eventually talk myself into anyone else. McCaffrey and OJ Howard intrigue me the most because of where the NFL is going on offense and I think Pederson is smart enough to correctly use them.

  25. 25 Media Mike said at 4:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I’m breaking stuff if they take Mike Williams with Corey Davis on the board. I’d also F bomb a lot over Cam Robinson.

Davis and Barnett would irk me, but I think they’re both likely to be DE2 type guys who give you 6ish sacks a season, so I’m not on bust mode with them.

  26. 26 Rellihcs said at 4:19 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I’m usually not rooting against any picks, but this year, Williams would piss me off, any RB – including McCaff too. I want Harris and would be super happy with that. Davis though is my top wish. If they trade back, things change a bit.

  27. 27 Media Mike said at 4:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

agree on Davis being on whom I’ve settled as my top “want” out of who will be there.

Now watch Arizona take him at 13.

  28. 28 laeagle said at 4:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I think the most fascinating, and instructive, thing for me to watch today is the calm, Zen-like manner with which Media Mike will be approaching the proceedings and the final result. Such equanimity, such patience and calm forbearance, it is not given, it is earned, through long practice. I will watch, and I will do my best to try and learn from the master…

  29. 29 Media Mike said at 4:18 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I’ll be away from the computer watching the draft with friends, but here’s what you’ll miss in person.

Badmouthing the crap out of every team who takes a player I want to slide to the Eagles.

Double badmouthing every team with horrible QB situations who pass on the QBs from 1-13.

Immediately calling BUST on whoever the Giants, Cowboys, or Wasteam draft unless it was a guy I wanted the Eagles to take.

There will be an extra round of verom directed to teams drafting from 21-32 who take players I want to fall to 43.

  50. 50 xeynon said at 5:27 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Wouldn’t hate a Davis pick at all but with Jeffery and Smith on board WR is not as urgent a need. We won’t be relying on Ags no matter what.

  51. 51 Jason said at 5:02 PM on April 27th, 2017:

At the beginning of this process I was totally on board with not trading down from #14 given the lack of success the Eagles have had after doing so. But after the injury to Jones and allegations against Conley, I’d be fine if they did. D3’s argument that the talent is stacked in rounds 2-3 makes a lot of sense.

Staying at 14, I’d be happy with either Barnett or Harris. The pash rushers appear to be continually pushed up in this process to the point where Jordan Willis may end up at the end of Round 1 and not available for the Birds’ second pick. The depth of CB talent in rounds 2 and 3 makes that a really attractive area to pursue.

But I think the player with the most upside is Corey Davis and it’s his lack of recent workouts and small school pedigree that makes it likely he’ll be there at #14. I think I’d be most excited if we land him, while still intrigued by McCaffrey who likely will go before #14.

I know we’re supposed to go BPA, but the real lack of need right now makes me less interested in Allen or Howard if they fall. It’s such a deep TE draft that Round 5 looks like a great place to address an upside TE that slips through the cracks and develops while Celek plays his final season.

  52. 52 Media Mike said at 5:58 PM on April 27th, 2017:

“Staying at 14, I’d be happy with either Barnett or Harris.”

You want any one guy in particular at 14?

  60. 60 Gary Barnes said at 6:02 PM on April 27th, 2017:

My emotional passionate side wants Foster so we can slide Hicks to WLB and pound offenses with a strong front 7, but the more logical side wants Allen or Lattimore to slide to us

  61. 61 Will Ft. Daft Punk said at 6:04 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I think you keep Hicks in the middle. He’s been mostly outstanding there. Let Foster play the hunt/kill role at WIL

  62. 62 Gary Barnes said at 6:18 PM on April 27th, 2017:

He has been good at MLB, but Foster is a stone cold killer vs the run and good in coverage as well. Hicks has shown good speed, pursuit and finish as a pass rusher so I’d let him hunt.

  63. 63 Media Mike said at 6:04 PM on April 27th, 2017:

My big question on Foster, is where he stacks up vs. CJ Mosley. Is he as good? Better? Worse?

And there was some X and O disagreement two posts ago on moving Hicks to WIL vs. playing Foster there. It was interesting for sure.

Lattimore needs to hire a F-ing yoga guru if we draft him because I’m not trying to hear anything about any bad hammys.

  64. 64 Will Ft. Daft Punk said at 6:06 PM on April 27th, 2017:

If we draft Lattimore his mornings should consist of Yoga and pool workouts until the season starts

  65. 65 Media Mike said at 6:08 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I’m down with that. An ounce of prevention is worth any level of me verbally pounding him over not being cured.

  66. 66 Gary Barnes said at 6:13 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Its a tough call, Allen has the shoulders, Latts the hammys and Foster the off-field issues….

I just want an elite punishing D again. I was reminded when we drafted McNabb, our D was very good and it really helped the team emerge and McNabb develop as they built the offense around him.

I’d try to do the same now. The D is not that far away, we need one good player at each level (DE, LB and CB) to be close. We need 2 CB, but I’m hoping that Mills or Robinson can develop into something.

Wentz needs a good RB and WR to grow with so the alternative universe pick for me at #14 if the D guys are gone is either Davis, McCaffery or Cook. I’d be fine if we went O and then D in the 2nd rd

  67. 67 Media Mike said at 6:15 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I think I’m at the point where the only defender I like at 14 is Solomon Thomas falling to us at that spot. Watching him wear people out in Stanford’s bowl game was amazing. All of the other defenders either don’t fit or are more worth 24 than 14.

  68. 68 Gary Barnes said at 6:21 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Not really familiar with Thomas, what are his strengths? I agree #14 is a weird spot for judging who to take or trade back…

  76. 76 Gian GEAGLE said at 6:22 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Love Allen’s game, but wouldn’t you be afraid of the injury that causes an elite DT prospect to fall to 14? Rumors of no cartilage in his shoulder, with some teams questioning if his career will last longer than 4-5 years? Im also not sure we could pay Jernigan if the backüp is earning 1st round money. Probably easier to extend jernigan if we have Destiny and some 5th round DT on a cheap rookie contract backing up Cox/Jernigan the next 4 years.
    ..
If the medical issues are legit, he could end up experiencing a similar draft fall like Sharrif FLoyd, who’s career is already over so teams were right to let him fall down to end of round 1

  77. 77 Gary Barnes said at 6:28 PM on April 27th, 2017:

It is for sure a risk, but that is the nature of the draft. Calculated risk combined with the potential for a high return is the best one can do…

I assume they’ve fully checked out his physical issues and done their due diligence on him as a person and player.

One cannot be afraid to fail as a talent evaluator, safe picks might keep you in a job for longer, but home runs only happen by taking calculated risks imo

  78. 78 Gian GEAGLE said at 6:29 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Yeah I guess it’s pretty simple, By now the work has been done, our medical team either cleared him or had him removed from our draft board

  84. 84 Media Mike said at 6:11 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Ross went 8 – 154 – 1

  85. 85 Will Ft. Daft Punk said at 6:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

70 of that was one play, where the DB just slipped. When you have a guy that fast and skilled he’s going to get loose at some point.

I like Jackson vs ODB than any other CB on our roster

How do think you Mills is going to look against Ross?

  86. 86 Media Mike said at 6:17 PM on April 27th, 2017:

He didn’t “just slip”, he was shook by a far better player and fell down.

And just because Jackson is better than our current CBs, it doesn’t make him worth pick 20. I don’t think he’s better than either Colorado kid, Tankersly, or Tre White.

  87. 87 Will Ft. Daft Punk said at 6:21 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I think after lattimore and a health Jones none of these CBs are spectacular

  88. 88 Media Mike said at 6:21 PM on April 27th, 2017:

That’s absolutely fair. And I don’t want to take a Sheldon Brown level player with a first round pick. I want an Eric Allen level player.

  89. 89 meteorologist said at 6:59 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Just go Conley

  90. 90 kajomo said at 6:17 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Mike,

Your ignorance is really showing here. Adoree plyed really well that game. Outside of the play where he tripped he held Ross in check, which is not an easy thing to do. Ross did get yards against other DBs in that game. You are also ignoring the turnovers Jackson had in that game. Adoree has been considered a 1st for months now.

If you want to pick apart some part of his game go ahead. He isnt flawless. Just don’t point to a stat line for a game you clearly didn’t watch or pay attention to as your argument. Adoree outplay Ross in that match up. You would know that if you actually watched the players you are so against.

  91. 91 Media Mike said at 6:18 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I watched him not cover much of anybody in the bowl game vs. Penn State either, which is really where I saw him live the most.

I’ll remain not a fan of his at 20. And I’ll still put him below both Colorado kids, Tankersly, and White.

  92. 92 kajomo said at 7:09 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I honestly don’t love him myself. I thought th game against UW was one of his best though. AJ seems like a slot only guy to me

  93. 93 RC5000 said at 7:32 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I don’t know if his off coverage / zone coverage skills like Asante or Kyle Fuller is what we’re looking for. We play a decent amount of zone but is that what the Eagles want?

  94. 94 RC5000 said at 7:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Ross beat Jackson bad on another potential long TD play , Browning missed him. Jackson was beat a few times. Browning was terrible.

  95. 95 kajomo said at 7:35 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I really dislike Jake Browning for some reason. I’ve casually watched him, but he just seems like a punk.

  96. 96 Media Mike said at 6:13 PM on April 27th, 2017:

He’s essentially a slot only player anyway.

“WEAKNESSES Smallish for an outside cornerback. Might be limited to just work in the slot. Can be a little over-aggressive with pace of bail coverage when fearing speed. Has a very slight hitch in transition forward from his pedal. Allowed routes to leverage him too far out of the middle of the field when he had no safety help. Could have issues with big slots posting him up in space. Lack of size and run-support strength could make him an early target for teams who like to run out of 11 personnel (three wide receivers).”

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/adoree-jackson?id=2558065

I can’t do that limited of a guy at 20. You want him at 99, that’s fine. But I don’t even like him at 43.

  97. 97 Dave said at 6:24 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Assante Samuel was the same height and weight. Not sure why this scouting report says a 4.42 corner with exceptional balls skills can only play the slot.

  98. 98 Media Mike said at 6:27 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Asante broke in a half era ago where there were less tall dudes outside. And it looks like the writer doesn’t care for Jackson’s decisions on where to carry guys when covering them.

  99. 99 Gian GEAGLE said at 6:48 PM on April 27th, 2017:

can’t be drafting slot corners early when you are desperate for outside corners, unless you think he can also fill enough Of a role as a special teams/offensive weapon for him to provide enough value to make sense
    ..
Shit I’d love to be so set at outside corner that we could afford the luxury of slot corners early in the draft but we aren’t there yet

  100. 100 RC5000 said at 7:14 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Please watch the play and don’t listen to the dumbass commentator. He stumbled and had his ankles broken on that play by Ross juke, Watch it at :15. He was completely emasculated by Ross.

  109. 109 meteorologist said at 6:58 PM on April 27th, 2017:

The boldest part of that prediction is that Philly would be happy

  110. 110 Gian GEAGLE said at 6:22 PM on April 27th, 2017:

If they draft Howard he would be eligible for an extension around the time Ertz contract expires and Ertz can either move on, or accept a Brent Celek type pay cut to finish his career here.

I don’t know if they would be thrilled with a rd 1 TE since I never seen Howie or his mentors draft one in the first, but it wouldn’t be a problem since he we would have him for 4-5 years on a rookie deal before having to pay him.

  111. 111 Media Mike said at 6:24 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I posted Ertz’s deal below. He’s on a 2 year clock to produce at a higher level to justify that deal.

But if we’d clear out Jordan Matthews and add another outside WR later in the draft; I’d love to see this team in a lot of “12” rather than “11”, because I think it’ll benefit the O long term.

I love this community, so I wanted to share the news my family received today.

My dad battled lung cancer last May; had surgery and was cleared medically. Remission! Sometime in January he experienced pain in his side- in early April he got it checked out.

Turns out the lung cancer has metastasized into his liver. The same cells broke off, found a new spot and began to grow. Currently it’s about the size of a tennis ball.

The cancer is inoperable. There’s a 3% survival rate at 5 years, but only 50% of people with this diagnosis make it 1 year. Obviously, we’re hoping for a miracle, but things don’t look good at this point.

If you pray, I’d appreciate your prayers for him and my mother; we aren’t sure what the road looks like going forward- maybe that’s a good thing. If you are into positive vibes, good thoughts, reverse voodoo dolls; we’ll take it.

On this evening, I didn’t want to ruin the festivities but I needed to get this out and this is one of the most comfortable places that I have to vent, discuss, learn, and interact with people.

Thanks for being a part of my life- I appreciate everyone here. Let’s have a great draft, and here’s to many, many Super Bowl victories in the upcoming years.

Eagles trade back with the Denver Broncos for pick #20 in round 1 acquiring an extra 3rd rounder (37) and take OT Cam Robinson (which bores/infuriates most). Day 2 we get at least 2 CBs.

    We take Cam Robinson.

  136. 136 Gian GEAGLE said at 7:02 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I get that but if Denver trades up wouldnt it likely be for an OL?

  137. 137 Dragon_Eagle said at 7:03 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Your right, but they have other needs such as DE, TE

  138. 138 Insomniac said at 7:01 PM on April 27th, 2017:

We are officially 1 hour and 6-12 commercials away from the first pick being announced.

  142. 142 scratcherk said at 7:04 PM on April 27th, 2017:

NFL network or ESPN? Is there really a choice?

  143. 143 Dave said at 7:12 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    I DVR both.

  144. 144 Sean Stott said at 7:13 PM on April 27th, 2017:

NFL network if you want to watch Mike Mayock pretend to predict the picks in real-time before they happen (he cheats), ESPN if you want to watch a disney show.

  145. 145 Tdoteaglefan said at 7:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Lol not really…NFL network all the way

  146. 146 daveH said at 7:04 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Preferences:
    1. Trade down
    2. Conley
    3. Davis

  148. 148 Gian GEAGLE said at 7:12 PM on April 27th, 2017:

How does one know that he wants to trade down before knowing what’s available?

  149. 149 Sean Stott said at 7:17 PM on April 27th, 2017:

My Novacare sources are saying Davis won’t slip out of top 10. He’s viewed as a potential ODB type WR. Panthers have pretty much already phoned in their choice of CM, it’s up to the Chargers to try to take him first.

Also hearing there is some non-public information about a top prospect that will make him slide and ruin pretty much everyone’s mock drafts.

  150. 150 daveH said at 7:18 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Keep these insights coming !

  151. 151 Steve Smegal said at 7:19 PM on April 27th, 2017:

It’s going to be an agonizing 24 hours for me if we don’t take a CB in the 1st. Just watching cb after cb go off the board will be like chinese water torture

  152. 152 Sean Stott said at 7:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Better prepare. What scenarios are even possible at this point that would push a worthy CB down to 14?

  153. 153 Steve Smegal said at 7:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    1. I’m still more than fine with Conley
    2. Trading back

  157. 157 Sean Stott said at 7:27 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Maybe it’s because I don’t live there anymore, but does it annoy anyone else to hear national broadcast reduce the city to nothing more than cheesesteaks and Rocky?

Rocky isn’t even a real person, and would have easily lost to the people he beat in the movies if they weren’t movies.

Also, we get it, there are lots of good cheesesteak places in Philly. Geno’s and Pats are for tourists, apparently (even though I like Pats). The good ones are actually at Jim’s steaks and only locals know that.

Batteries, santa, championship drought, pretzels, pork roll, scrapple, am I missing any other cliches?

  158. 158 Insomniac said at 7:29 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I loved Berman as a kid, but his shtick really grew old and tiresome at least 15 years ago. I have mostly good feelings for the guy, but he just became increasingly annoying and tiresome with age.

No 1st round grades on LBs? Not saying we need one, but you always want to keep options open. Down on Hassan Riddick? I thought most analysts/draft gurus have him projected as a middle to late 1st rounder.

They used to allow 15 minutes per 1st round pick

  262. 262 FairOaks said at 8:45 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Not even close. The time limit on the first round used to be 15 minutes per pick. Most of the time, teams didn’t take that long and things moved along OKish. Then one year… the teams all conspired to take the full 15 minutes each before telling the league, even though the picks were known to the other teams much earlier. TV was showing video of players getting calls from the team who was picking them a full half hour before they were called on stage.

Goodell lowered the time limit the next year.

  313. 313 Gary Barnes said at 8:57 PM on April 27th, 2017:

True, but Roseman is in charge and has final say. Douglas set the board, but Roseman makes the calls today and we know he can be aggressive when he knows what he wants

  371. 371 FairOaks said at 9:07 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Only reason I would have been fine with the pick is that he’s almost as much of a WR than a RB. He’s not a feature RB, probably. But if it pushes a CB or something to us, fine.

    Great entertainment, this draft

  427. 427 scratcherk said at 9:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Andy & Sean connection

  428. 428 A_T_G said at 9:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Again, Howie looking prophetic with the Alshon signing.

  429. 429 Sean Stott said at 9:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    good call

  430. 430 Allen3000 said at 9:17 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I don’t get what is so prophetic about seeking out starting WRs when you have arguably the worst starting group of WRs in the league.

  431. 431 Sean Stott said at 9:18 PM on April 27th, 2017:

They went after the only FA WR who wasn’t just some guy. Without Alshon, this team would be looking at NA and Torrey Smith as day 1 starters

  432. 432 FairOaks said at 9:19 PM on April 27th, 2017:

He could have targeted CB in free agency, and be left with not much at WR in this draft, I think is the point.

  433. 433 Allen3000 said at 9:22 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Right, but the free agent class of CBs was slim pickings. Let’s also not forget Alshon is on a 1 year deal – no guarantees beyond this year.

I mean, yes, it was a good signing by Roseman. I just don’t see how it’s prophetic when CB/WR has been this team’s glaring weakness for awhile.

  434. 434 FairOaks said at 9:25 PM on April 27th, 2017:

The impact FA class of WRs was also slim pickings.

Yes, it’s a one-year deal and not a slam-dunk long-term success. Though we could at least get a high comp pick if he leaves, I guess. But if you were counting on the draft to give you a #1 WR… we’d not be in a great situation right now.

  435. 435 oreofestar said at 9:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Might be Mahomes

  436. 436 oreofestar said at 9:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    I know Zona liked him

  437. 437 Fufina said at 9:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Would you take Hooker at 14 if Lattimer, Allen and Howard go next 3 picks?

  438. 438 Insomniac said at 9:17 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Yes.

    edit: misread that

    sure

  445. 445 FairOaks said at 9:18 PM on April 27th, 2017:

… and likely will be after #14, as well.

  446. 446 Dave said at 9:17 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Maybe this KC trade pushes another QB to be picked by Cleveland or Zona

  447. 447 Sean Stott said at 9:19 PM on April 27th, 2017:

If KC goes QB I think CLEV has to go QB

  448. 448 scratcherk said at 9:18 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    10 – Watson/Mahomes
    11 – OJ howard
    12 – Watson/Mahomes
    13 – Reddick

Choice between Lattimore, Allen, Hooker, Foster, Barnett, Harris

  449. 449 Dave said at 9:19 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Wow, I wouldn’t have seen that coming

  450. 450 Insomniac said at 9:19 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I would argue that if the QBs are gone, the Cardinals might get Allen. They lost Campbell this offseason.

  451. 451 RC5000 said at 9:19 PM on April 27th, 2017:

lattimore or hooker pls or allen 3rd.

  452. 452 jaws80 said at 9:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

trade up is kinda a go after QB thing. but could be a few choices.

  453. 453 kajomo said at 9:19 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Let’s be trade up next for Lattimore and grab Conley in round 2.

  454. 454 Insomniac said at 9:19 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Can’t trade for him if we take him at 14.

    saint really need a corner…

  456. 456 Ark87 said at 9:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

The medical concerns must be too real in a corner class too deep if he’s fallen this far. Best off staying where we are.

  457. 457 ICDogg said at 9:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Mahomes

  458. 458 scratcherk said at 9:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

  459. 459 Dave said at 9:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

The Texans are looking at their QB position and the draft just shaking their head.

  460. 460 Insomniac said at 9:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

  463. 463 Sean Stott said at 9:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Other than CM getting picked early, I don’t think this could have gone any better for a PHI fan

  464. 464 A_T_G said at 9:20 PM on April 27th, 2017:

It’s good they got “the second” in there. Andy would be pissed to have a 50 year old show up for OTAs.

    he he he

  466. 466 Nick C said at 9:21 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Saints need a corner bad 🙁

  467. 467 Dave said at 9:22 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    And a pass rusher

  468. 468 jaws80 said at 9:22 PM on April 27th, 2017:

howard, hooker, lattimore and allen. real good player is available at 14

  469. 469 Sean Stott said at 9:22 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Just making trouble

  476. 476 Sean Stott said at 9:25 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Williams was a reach, not Davis, Ross, or CM

  477. 477 Ark87 said at 9:24 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    so is Lattimore

  478. 478 Nick C said at 9:24 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Yeah QBs, and WRs going too early.

  479. 479 Ark87 said at 9:22 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Don’t get the Mahomes pick. Andy feeling Nostalgic for Favre, but I think he gets a player closer to Manziel. Dude just doesn’t play professional football.

  480. 480 kajomo said at 9:23 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I trust andy’s ability to evaluate and develope QBs

  482. 482 Ark87 said at 9:24 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I think Mahomes is too instinctual to reign in. The dude is sandlot

  483. 483 Insomniac said at 9:24 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Mahomes makes some crazy throws. They also have one of the best deep threats in Tyreek Hill. Andy has kept that dink and dunk offense with Smith for so long and can’t get over the hump with it,

  484. 484 FairOaks said at 9:27 PM on April 27th, 2017:

and Mahomes may need to sit for a year, and with Alex Smith that will probably happen.

  485. 485 daveH said at 9:27 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Chiefs picking for Browns?

  488. 488 Insomniac said at 9:23 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Ideally, the Saints take Derek Barnett. The Browns take Malik Hooker. The Cardinals take Jonathan Allen.

  489. 489 RC5000 said at 9:24 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I’d be ecstatic if we got Hooker.

  490. 490 Insomniac said at 9:24 PM on April 27th, 2017:

  500. 500 Ark87 said at 9:26 PM on April 27th, 2017:

definitely won’t happen, QB’s getting taken, bunch of WR’s, likely guaranteed to have one of the great players they’ve been dreaming of at this point

  501. 501 Sean Stott said at 9:26 PM on April 27th, 2017:

There are so many quality players left that the value of trading down is going to get very hard to resist

  502. 502 meteorologist said at 9:28 PM on April 27th, 2017:

There are elite guys left. No way you trade down from that tier

  503. 503 RobNE said at 9:26 PM on April 27th, 2017:

That may be getting too cute.

  510. 510 Sean Stott said at 9:28 PM on April 27th, 2017:

  526. 526 Gary Barnes said at 9:31 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I’m just afraid we trade back for the wrong reasons, like we fell in love with a player in the 13-20 range and hey because that’s who we thought would be there, now that guy will be available in the 20’s, trade awaaay yeee ha

Yup we can play a bunch of nickel. He can go in as our FS and Jenkins can slide over to SS on passing downs. McLeod can be used near the line where he’s at his best.

  667. 667 xeynon said at 9:53 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Broke Reggie White’s sack record playing in the best conference in the country. Also a really good run defender. Position of need. Not my first choice but not a terrible pick.

  668. 668 Jernst said at 9:54 PM on April 27th, 2017:

92% of all his sacks came going around the outside shoulder of the tackle, he has no counter moves. Horrible burst and athleticism that simply won’t allow him to do the same thing to NFL caliber LTs.

  669. 669 xeynon said at 9:58 PM on April 27th, 2017:

That description also applied to Terrell Suggs coming out of college and he’s had a pretty damn good NFL career.

We’ll see what happens. But as I said, I don’t see him as a guy who’s a reach or a luxury pick in round 1. I would’ve taken Howard, Allen, or Hooker but he’s acceptable.

  670. 670 Jernst said at 10:06 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I guess we’re drafting hoping for exceptions to the rule now at 14th overall then…

Barnett had a worse 40 time (4.82 to 4.88), a worse vertical jump (31 to 33 inches), Suggs only did those two tests and a bench press.

Barnett also has T-rex arms coming in with shorter arms than 95% of all DEs that have been measured at the combine in the last 15 years.

The rest of his combine results are all well below average. Plus the tape just shows a guy that doesn’t have the elite first step that is typically required to be a top DE in the NFL.

  671. 671 xeynon said at 10:12 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Point is it’s not like he wasn’t a great college player. He was. Technique and production against elite competition count for a lot, and if anybody is likely to outperform his test results in the NFL, it’s a guy who’s already done so against high-level college competition. The Suggs comparison is not to say you draft for exceptions to the rule but that totally discounting actual production to focus on combine results is dumb. Mike Mamula tore up the combine. Suggs was a better player in college and a better player in the pros.

    MARCUS SMITH 2 2.0

  691. 691 xeynon said at 9:55 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Nah, that’s not a good comparison at all. Smith was an athlete making the transition to DE. Barnett is a highly polished defender with outstanding technique.

  692. 692 Ark87 said at 9:56 PM on April 27th, 2017:

that didn’t have a good combine

  693. 693 xeynon said at 10:00 PM on April 27th, 2017:

If he’d had a good combine he would’ve been a top 5 pick based on his college production and tape. Combine matters but remember he’s being drafted to play football, which he did extremely well at a lower level, not compete in the underwear Olympics.

  694. 694 Ark87 said at 10:03 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I think we unexpectedly had players available with a better mix of athleticism, production, and tape

    But I’ll live with it

  695. 695 xeynon said at 10:06 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I don’t disagree with you – I would’ve taken Howard, Allen, or Hooker over him. But I don’t think he’s an outlandish selection a la Jon Harris. I disagree w/ the pick but don’t hate it.

  696. 696 Jernst said at 10:07 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Take away the results (sacks) and focus on the how he got those results and tell me what you saw on his tape that looks like it will translate to the NFL

  697. 697 xeynon said at 10:14 PM on April 27th, 2017:

  712. 712 xeynon said at 10:02 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Entirely depends on how their careers turn out no? If Barnett becomes a Pro Bowler and Hooker washes out, probably not many.

Hmm wonder if they will move Curry to DT full time

  719. 719 BobSmith77 said at 10:00 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Imagine they tried to move him and others teams laughed at them. This has several awful contracts which have hindered their ability to round out the rest of the roster.

  720. 720 D3FB said at 10:04 PM on April 27th, 2017:

  730. 730 Sean Stott said at 9:59 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Underwhelming and making a move for a coordinator I don’t see being here beyond 2 more years including next year.

  742. 742 Ark87 said at 10:01 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I think I like him more if we drop Schwartz and the wide 9. I just see a guy with Barnett’s athleticism having similar troubles to Curry if he lines up wide. High effort, disruptive, but I have my doubts about him getting home.

  743. 743 RC5000 said at 10:21 PM on April 27th, 2017:

That’s his move though, getting low and taking the arc wide. He’s just not real quick.

  744. 744 Ark87 said at 10:22 PM on April 27th, 2017:

makes me want some corners to buy us a couple extra tenths of a second

  745. 745 D3FB said at 10:03 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Barnett can play Edge in any scheme

  746. 746 kajomo said at 10:07 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Honestly what do you think his ceiling is? Do you think he can be an elite edge rusher? If we take a pass rusher in the top 15 he needs to be a 10+ sack guy.

  747. 747 Ark87 said at 10:10 PM on April 27th, 2017:

imo he’s a great piece on a stacked D-line. He can be a consistent menace (not sure he gets home that often). Pretty good complement to a flashy stud rusher.

  748. 748 D3FB said at 10:12 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I think he has a Brian Orakpo career. He’s got to work on his counters. I think he’ll be an 8 sack guy in underwhelming years and 10-12 in his better years. Never going to be a 20 sack a year guy but that’s an unreasonable expectation

  749. 749 BobSmith77 said at 10:29 PM on April 27th, 2017:

If he is that good, it was a great pick. Strikes me more as a ‘solid not a difference maker’ type who is more of a 4-6 sack guy.

  750. 750 D3FB said at 10:36 PM on April 27th, 2017:

You think he’s going to be consistently out of the top 50 in sacks?

  751. 751 Insomniac said at 10:00 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I feel exactly what this ginger guy feels. Wow we made a pick and that’s it.

  759. 759 scratcherk said at 10:01 PM on April 27th, 2017:

but we dont need a S and need a DE

  760. 760 Insomniac said at 10:02 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Jenkins is going to be 30. McLeod is just average in coverage. We didn’t need a DE more than a S.

  761. 761 xeynon said at 10:03 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Graham and Curry are 29 and Long is 32 and on a one year deal. DE was a need.

  762. 762 Insomniac said at 10:04 PM on April 27th, 2017:

DEs last much longer in the league than S.

  763. 763 RC5000 said at 10:05 PM on April 27th, 2017:

It’s not just about need now. But Hooker isn’t quite Thomas fortunately.

  764. 764 daveH said at 10:09 PM on April 27th, 2017:

  765. 765 RC5000 said at 10:11 PM on April 27th, 2017:

He’s always been a terrible personnel guy though.

  766. 766 BobSmith77 said at 10:01 PM on April 27th, 2017:

MS2 better come to play in camp because he is going to be competing for a roster spot now.

  767. 767 Dragon_Eagle said at 10:02 PM on April 27th, 2017:

And Vinny Curry better have the movers on speed dial. He is now trade bait.

  768. 768 BobSmith77 said at 10:04 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Who is taking his awful contract though for what is essentially at best a situational pass rusher?

Eagles have to hope he rebounds a bit and is semi-effective next season.

  769. 769 FairOaks said at 10:05 PM on April 27th, 2017:

He’d only be a $1m cap savings this year… if you can even find a team wanting to guarantee Curry $7 million this year. Next year on the other hand…

  770. 770 FairOaks said at 10:03 PM on April 27th, 2017:

if they don’t need his cap space before then. No point in cutting him before draft, but he has a roster bonus sometime in July

  771. 771 Corry said at 10:07 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I think MS2 is as good as gone. You’ve got Graham, Long, Curry, and Barnett all ahead of him.

  772. 772 Patrick said at 10:05 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Players with injury concerns, players with character + injury concerns and players at non-premium positions falling the draft.

  777. 777 bsuperfi said at 10:08 PM on April 27th, 2017:

  778. 778 Insomniac said at 10:08 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Does the run on CBs begin now? Also sorry D3.

  779. 779 BobSmith77 said at 10:08 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Eagles seem like they are trying to rebuild the early 00s but this team reminds me more of mid-90s Eagles under Rhodes – veteran-laden team that has talent but is flawed in several areas too

Big difference is Wentz and whether he can take another leap this season to lead them back to the playoffs

  780. 780 scratcherk said at 10:09 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Gotta give Douglas benefit of doubt here.

  781. 781 kajomo said at 10:13 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Nope. This team has been afraid to get the high impact guy and stick to BPA despite need. They make decisions with a sense of urgency to win this year. This pick proves that these same issues remain. No one can honestly say Barnett was the BPA even if you liked him.

  782. 782 Jernst said at 10:14 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Agreed

  783. 783 D3FB said at 10:14 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    I think you could

  784. 784 ICDogg said at 10:15 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Could be BPA with no red flag

  785. 785 kajomo said at 10:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

He is better than Hooker, Foster, Howard, and Harris? I don’t buy that. He screams “safe” pick to me. We need impact palyers Barnett just doesn’t seem to be a high impact guy. Solid and consistent sure, but that is redundant with our current DEs.

  786. 786 D3FB said at 10:23 PM on April 27th, 2017:

If Foster was off their board to to interview, medical, character (also I dont think he’s as good as many others)

    Howard is a TE

Hooker probably is but DE>S and frankly I haven’t watched him a ton to have super strong opinions.

Allen doesn’t really fit the scheme and medicals.

Harris I would have had above him but within the margin of error.

  787. 787 kajomo said at 10:31 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I had Hooker in my top 5 prospects. Guy is special

  788. 788 Patrick said at 10:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

    Who was?

The DE with medical risk. Maybe theres a reason he is slipping, its doctors saying: is that supposed to be a shoulder?
The LB with concussion AND shoulder issues, character AND PED concerns. Yeah, that’ll work well.
    The TE. Please.

  789. 789 kajomo said at 10:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

I’d take Harris over Barnett all day every day

Also Hooker would have been my first choice there

  790. 790 Patrick said at 10:18 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Maybe, but theres a discussion there. Production vs. measurable. Not particularly decisive, more personal preference. With Hicks and Bradham, I can see why the Eagles wouldn’t be thrilled with the guy who doesn’t play the run very well.

Hooker has that hip thing too. Injuries are just a killer.

  791. 791 RobNE said at 10:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

they picked a guy who is 20

  792. 792 A_T_G said at 10:16 PM on April 27th, 2017:

There are people who honestly say the world is flat. That claim is meaningless.

That said, they literally said on ESPN he was the BPA just before the pick came in.

  793. 793 xeynon said at 10:17 PM on April 27th, 2017:

Barnett may or may not have been BPA but this wasn’t a reach or a “win now” pick. If they’d wanted immediate impact or a guy to fill a clear hole there were other players that would’ve been higher on the list.

  794. 794 Gary Barnes said at 10:09 PM on April 27th, 2017:

NFL Network’s coverage of the Eagles pick was a disgrace. Never said anything about the Eagles when they were on the clock. Interviewed Fournette instead. Didn’t even go to the podium for the pick announcement. Just flashed it on the bottom of the screen. WTF?
