Remember when everyone was down on Ertz because he’s not a great blocker and isn’t physical after the catch? Those same things are true and it doesn’t matter. He’s a pro bowl TE. Players can have weaknesses as long as they are great at their strengths.
As I said before, I’ll gladly eat my crow on Ertz. The talent has always been there. He’s flashed big time potential in the past. The lingering question has always been; “can he sustain the productivity?” And until this season (knock on wood), he really hasn’t. He’s gone through significant stretches of the season where he’s milk carton status.
I like him a lot, and am now accepting he won’t be a great after-contact guy — he is a great receiver.
To be fair, he has started slow on the receiving end, and got better as the season has gone on — this year is different. Also, he was an atrocious blocker, not simply “not great”, but again that has changed this year — he has gotten to “not great” and can do the job a lot of the time.
Jordan Reed for the Redskins is also a pretty bad blocker, and Ertz right now is probably around that level.

Palmer went down a little easy, but Barnett was still putting some force into that long after the ball was gone. Should have just let go. Initial hit was fine, but the continued tackle was bad.
Watching a guy like Barber walk off the street and be productive makes me feel even worse about pumphrey. He’s totally going to be the Bryan Smith (remember him?) of RBs. Everything said don’t draft him, but the eagles outsmarted themselves.

Barner was with the Eagles for three full seasons — including all of last year — and with the Panthers a year before that. So he is far more mature, and has a full season in Pederson’s offense. Not fair to compare Pumphrey.
Granted, unless he was injured this preseason, I have basically no hope for Pumphrey anymore, so I think you’re right. Better to take those fliers in the 5th round than the 3rd (like Smith, and Te’o-Neisham).

No team misses a player more than the Cardinals miss David Johnson. With him, this offense is completely different.

watching the Dallas-Greenbay game, and its just maddening. So far, Zeke has run it 9 times for almost no gain, but they manage to convert a 4th down, Dak throws a 40 yards pass into completely broken coverage on Butler and then again to Witten, who looks like he is struggling to actually run like a normal person at this stage. Then the refs flag GB for unnessecary roughness on a defenseless receiver on 3rd and goal where Bryant completely drops the ball, and from the replay there was hardly any contact with the DB at all – his arm graces against his helmet and shoulder at the exact point the ball is dropped. Nothing there. Then naturally they score a TD. I know Im biased, but this Dallas-team is not a good team. I feel strongly, the moment things stop falling out in their favor, they will collapse completely. Tonight would be a nice night to start that trend. GO Packers!

For some reason I feel strongly about this. Its weird. I never hated Romo, even though I rooted strongly against Dallas. I didn’t even hate Demarco Murray until He Who Shall Not Be Named gave him a boatload of money to suck with us. But this Dallas-team, with Zeke and Dak, is just unbearable.
