The Eagles completely dominated the Broncos, beating them 51-23. This wasn’t fluke plays (long kick returns or pick-sixes type stuff), this was complete and total dominance. The Eagles completely controlled the line of scrimmage. Carson Wentz was barely touched. Brock Osweiler took a beating. The Eagles ran for 197 yards. Denver ran for 35.
Dominance.
I thought this was going to be a tough game and then got worried this morning when I saw Zach Ertz was inactive. Didn’t matter. The coaches had a brilliant gameplan and fed the ball to Brent Celek and Trey Burton. They combined to have 5 catches for 80 yards and a TD. Alshon Jeffery had his best game of the year, going 6-84-2.
I give Doug Pederson and the coaches a ton of credit for this game. They were aggressive all game long and that brought out the best in the players. The Eagles were the more physical team and they pushed Denver around for three hours. The skill players made big plays again and again.
Welcome to Philly, Jay Ajayi. He was the team’s leading rusher, 8-77-1. That included a 47-yard TD run late in the half. He had great blocking on that play, but showed his speed and turned that into a long TD. None of the other RBs turn that into a TD. This offense just got better.
The #1 defense was on the field today, but anyone watching this game would have thought it was the guys in the green helmets and not the visitors. The Eagles attacked Denver’s offense and shut down the run (19-35). Once Denver was in a passing situation, it was all over. Brock Osweiler didn’t have a lot of help from his teammates, but there were times when he made things worse. The pick he threw to Rodney McLeod was just awful. McLeod could have fair caught that ball.
The Eagles are now 8-1. That is the best record in the league and they look like the best team in the league.
This looks more and more like a special season.

Absolutely amazing effort today. And we had a few guys get banged up who will be at 100% when we expose Dallas for being a complete bunch of frauds in two weeks.
On that note; KC is a bunch of misprioritized clowns for being down 7-3 to Dallas.
Offensive line was awesome today. Lane handled Miller the entire day.

In other news, cowboys D-line is outright dominating the chiefs O-line right now. It is very annoying, considering how the chiefs played so well against us and other teams earlier in the season. Somehow they appear to have peaked too soon, and they are under 100 yards rushing in the last three. On the other hand, the Broncos absolutely dominated the Cowboys a handful of weeks ago, and look at them today. It reminds you that it is a long season, and things change along the way.
It’s a big bunch of bullshit. Dallas = bullshit lucky frauds.
Chiefs peaking early is kinda interesting, they did the same two or three years ago, where they were the last remaining undefeated team, and then sorta fizzled out. Contrast that with Reid’s time here where his teams tended to play better as the season went along
I’m really starting to wonder if Reid pulls the trigger on Mahomes in the next few weeks. Offense looks very flat.
Hunt is playing fine, why go to another running back? 262 rushing attempts in college the last two years is nice, but Hunt is the better player.

We’ll see how he does against the Eagles this year. We picked on Romo, and the fact is he was a good QB. If Dak can hang with this Eagle defense, he’s legit. If not… yeah, they’ll have to use a high pick in the next year or two.
So according to Tony Romo, Witten is the best blocking TE in the league, nobody in the league can high point it like Dez and Zeke is the most special runner to come out since he entered the league and Dak is the best second-year player after Marino because of his td/int ratio, which is second (which it is not, btw, it is third after Marino and Wilson per broadcast graphic). Also, Dallas pass rush is among the best in the league and Jason Garreth is one of the best coaches in the league and Dak is one of the best QBs in the league. And Tyron Wilson is amazing because he plays with a back problem. These are all things Romo have said so far. So… Ya. I really liked him as a color commentator so far, he has done a tremendous job. But him with the Cowboys is actually worse than Gruden with the Redskins. Oh, and he also gave himself credit, just before the half, for being able to ‘call it right down the middle’. Geez.

Before day 2 of the draft, Jones admitted that he was angry with himself for missing the trade-up for Lynch. Then, later, he told reporters that they got outbid for Cook and he was disappointed with that too. Dak was, after their own admission, their consolation price.

They have leaned on him even harder this year so far (I guessing figuring he will get suspended for at least a portion of the season) and he is averaging a ridiculous 376 season carry pace right now. This game isn’t even over yet either.

Only weak spot today was on special teams. Barner is a real downgrade from Sproles on punt returns and we’ll see if the long return today continues.
I was thinking the same thing. Barner doesn’t seem to be explosive for that role. On most returns he takes a slow, deliberate step back while he looks at the blocking and then seem to take a lot of time to get up to speed. Very different from watching Sproles who would catch the ball the then be running at top speed a split second later. I think we need to try someone else there. Agholor did this in college, no?

Right. But we all remember how big plays on special teams alone won this team two or three games a year during Chips tenure. Most games are decided within one score. In all of these, special teams can make the difference. We should have a player there, who is a threat.
Oh, Barner has homerun potential. I think compared to Sproles he might actually be more likely to take it to the house. I think he will get you more 5 yard returns when Sproles would get 10-20 on them, but Barner has a chance to turn one of them into a TD.

Best case scenario would be Reich getting a head man job and getting to keep Flip as OC and making Press Taylor QB coach.

Man, that “Hall of Famer” tweet just makes me appreciate how good Marino was. He did that at a time when it was a totally different game. Someday, his records will probably fall (because they keep making it easier for the passing game), but I have hard time believing that the record breaker will actually be better than Marino.

This season is so fun! And the build up for the Dallas Game will be crazy. My only complaint so far: Where were the “We want Dallas” chant in the linc my brothers? I had this team at 9 or 10 wins going into the season, but couldn’t guarantee a division vs. a few other teams that were going to be in that range……….. but here we are at 8-1 and in the driver’s seat for home field. So I’d like to get that done because of who the other teams are in the playoff mix.
The other division leaders are New Orleans, Minnesota, and the Rams. It would be absolutely putrid to fall behind any of those teams. Especially because none of them were judged to be playoff quality by me going into the season.
Dallas is a fraud who we had better bury on the 19th!!!!!!

So I can’t believe I’m sitting here after week 9 expecting the #1 seed in the NFC because all of the other teams involved are BS.
NO, Minn, Sea, and LAR all pretty much play each other here to end the season. If we can at least split with Dallas and split the West Coast games than the rest should beat each other up enough to give us the #1 seed

Tommy, talk me off the ledge. Those F’ing Cowboys beat the Chiefs, thanks Andy, and they control their own destiny now. If they beat the Eagles twice, they are in first assuming the other games come out tied.
I want to believe we are as good as we look and will kick Cowboy butt in two weeks but after decades of disappointment, I’m nervous. Say it ain’t so Tommy. Give me reason for optimism.

When we played the Chiefs this team was still figuring itself out. We couldn’t run the ball and the defense, while good, was not the dominant unit we’ve been watching lately.
The Chiefs were at home coming off a long week of preparation after beating the Patriots the opening night of the season. They were playing great football and were red hot to start the season.
The Chiefs was the Cowboys played has cooled off. Justin Houston barely played and was ineffective when he did. Kareem Hunt hasn’t had a 100 rushing game in weeks. This was also a road game for the Chiefs on a short week after playing Monday night.
The Chiefs played poorly and did a poor job adjusting all night. Alex Smith showed why he is not a real MVP candidate.
The cowboys are a good team. The eagles are closer to great. We will be able to control their running game and force Dak to keep up with Carson. Good luck with that. Offensively we just hung 51 on the best defense in football. We will do a better job of blocking up that dallas front and Carson will do carson things. We are the better team and will show it in 2 weeks. Until then don’t watch sport TV because it will be a Dallas slob fest.
Thanks for your perspective. Your analysis makes sense. I guess I have seen enough football over the years that you never really know how teams compare until they play head to head. Even then, you can get fooled.
I’m trying to stay optimistic based on last year’s game when we had Dallas beat before giving it away. And this year’s team is much better.

I agree with the team trying to figure itself out but the secondary and the depht at the Linebacker position is still not really close to very good. Right now we have not faced a QB surrounded with a good passing O capable of exposing this Defense and that is what we are gonna face in the playoffs. Rodgers Wilson Brees and Brady would be a really tough matchup.
I am not directing this at you specifically, but at the general Eagle naysayer mentality…
GTFO. This eagles team is the most complete team in the NFL, has the outstanding coaching, and the league’s best QB. We just played the best defense we will face all year without JP, Sproles, and Ertz and dropped 51 on them. Opposing QBs have been running for the F-ing lives. They have just been chucking and ducking due to the consistent pressure. We are built like a championship team. Strong in the trenches, top QB, and physical running game.
It’s time to stop doubting or nitpicking this team. Every team has weaknesses right now. No team has been able to overcome them as consistently as we have.
Fans need to be all in. If we continue to take care of business ( everything this season says they will) and we get home field advantage we are going to the super bowl. No team in the NFC is going to come into Philly in January, with the Linc stocking and play the eagles. The Seahawks are a fraud. Cal berkley/LA Goff doesn’t want to travel across the country to play in the cold. Breese doesn’t win big outside his dome. The Vikings don’t have a QB.
Let’s get this thing going through Philly and we can watch our birds in the big game. E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!!!!
Our QB finished the last two games, including his least impressive game and one against the top defense in the league, laughing and relaxing on the sideline. We got this.
Those f’ing Cowboys also got their asses handed to them by the same Denver team we just beat to a pulp yesterday. We’ve got a 2.5 game lead on them and control our own destiny to a greater degree than they do. The game in two weeks is basically a must-win for them, but not for us. And we have a better quarterback and better defense. Relax.
Cowboys are not the team i am worried about. We are a fantastic match up with the Cowboys – we stop the run defensively, Dak is not a dynamic outside passer, and our inside pass defense is fantastic with a pair of elite safeties and slot CB, with good LB’s. Oh and relentless pass rush.
Cowboys defense has a great edge rusher and a playmaking LB, and playing sound conservative coverage everywhere else. Bend but don’t break until one of their stars can make a money play. 2 problems they have with the Eagles. 1) we will run all over them 2) Eagles can sustain drives with our league best 3rd down conversion rate, meaning we can just keep taking what their defense gives them.
The 2 teams to be scared of are the Saints and Rams, both have quality offenses, and far better defense than the Cowboys.
THey could realistic lose to Atlanta this week, in which case if we beat them we wrap up the division

Alshon came here on a one-year deal looking to improve his value on an offense devoid of pass catchers. By most impressions, he hasn’t done that. Receivers seem to have materialized out of the mist. He gets less targets than he anticipated, and hasn’t made the most of them. Yet, this is a man truly excited to be part of something special.

Another talking head who would rather have Dak over Carson. I just dont see it. Altho he did play better against KC than I thought he would.
It’s just classic Cowboys hype. It’s gonna be fun in five years when the media turns on Dak because he can’t get over the hump and beat Carson.
Dak is very similar to Wilson in his playing style (although Wilson is willing to throw deep down the field more aggressively) in that he is best when passing outside the pocket and on the move. Dak is a more willing runner than Wentz and he throws better on the move and outside the pocket than Wentz.
Wentz in the pocket is light years ahead of Dak, with far better vision, pre-snap reads, footwork, arm talent, anticipation, ball placement and aggression passing the ball.
In the scheme and situation Dak is in he is fantastic, his option play really makes the Cowboys run game frightening, and his strengths are naturally exploited on bootlegs and play action passes. However if you can shut down the run game enough to get them in consistent 3rd and long, and you keep him contained in the pocket (easier said than done) he will really struggle to move the ball.

A bit but what had me thinking was how Blount never hits that hole on that stretch play 10 times out of 10.
I think it might be because he swings his arms across his body instead of parallel to his direction of travel. It makes his look like a muscle-bound action hero.
