Stefen Wisniewski is out. That means we’ll probably see Isaac Seumalo at LG. Doug Pederson wouldn’t say whether it would be him or Chance Warmack when asked on Friday. The fact that Warmack got the first shot last week and then was replaced by Seumalo makes me think they’ll stick with Seumalo.
There is an argument for going with Warmack. He struggled vs Aaron Donald, who is a quick, athletic DT. The Giants have bigger, stronger guys. Warmack can usually handle size and strength.

Looks like Chance Warmack is getting all of the pregame reps at left guard. Expect him to start for #Eagles.

The Eagles might play both guys and stick with the one who performs the best. Neither is an ideal option.

I love like 99% of what Howie has done but… that contract extension for Warmack. I wonder how much influence Stoutland exerted with that, because I have a hard time believing the team would have extended him based on performance.
One aspect of our game that’s been dormant with Wentz has been the quick screen to the wideouts. Wentz just doesn’t do that well. I wonder if with Foles we go back to that a little bit, he does throw an accurate short ball with good touch.
I don’t mind that Wentz isn’t great at quick screens to the WRs, because our WRs aren’t great at quick screens to the WRs too, most of the time. And let’s not mention the screen to the TE out wide.

My brother lives in LA and send the LA sports people all week have been saying the Eagles didn’t really beat the Rams, but the Rams beat themselves. That is was the Rams’ mistakes that caused them to lose.
I thought this was interesting, especially in light of all the people on here last week saying how the only reason the Rams were in the game was the Eagles’ mistakes.

Lousy start for the defense. Eli is a savvy veteran QB but is playing with dogshit skill players behind a dogshit offensive line. The only thing they can do even remotely effectively is throw short passes. Stopping this offense should not be that hard.
That was frustrating, but it doesn’t seem sustainable for the Giants.

I think people really underestimate Carson’s ability to will his team to wins. He seems to respond when the team needs it the most to switch momemtum. The guy made everyone on this team better. Foles is solid, but Wentz is special. It will have an effect on the entire team.

I’m very happy with Foles. It’s about as good of a performance as we could have hoped for
I think we’re seeing that the reality is our defense is opportunistic and makes big plays but not dominant a la those Bucs or Ravens defenses that carried them to titles.

God Barner is sure-handed but that is the only good thing you can say about him as a returner. No explosiveness and very questionable judgment.
I’d say inconsistent rather than questionable, he most often makes good decisions on catch vs fair catch vs leave it, but yeah he’s no sproles with the ball in his hands.

They bite on every double move and every screen, the Giants O-line without Flowers looks like a solid unit on most snaps and my god the slants are basically being handed out. This game is making us forget that this Giants team is AVERAGING 14 points per game so far this year which makes them one of the worst offenses in the league. Yet here they are, putting drives together of +80 yards like its routine from the first snap and nobody appear to be adjusting anything. What is this?

I agree. That defense is not only for real, its one of the best defenses in regular season history. We’ll see how they do in the playoffs, but a team that doesn’t give up points and can run the ball can do well in the post-season, even if their passing game isn’t good. People forget that last year the Pats almost got knocked out by the Osweiler Texans because they played good defense.
I’ll go out and say it, and it have been this way for a while. The Jags are my AFC Championship opponents against the Pats, and the only reason they aren’t my SB pick, is because by now no-one should ever pick against Belichick and Brady in the postseason.

Their front 7 is nuts. Pusluszny is a veteran leader and a good run stupper. Smith and Jack flies around and makes plays in all aspects of the game and their line is amazing.
I haven’t studied them or anything, but their OL is supposedly played very well, they have loads of playmakers and can pound the ball with 3 NFL caliber RBs. It’ll basically be all on Bortles if they fall apart. I’m still hoping they decide to pay Kirk Cousins. Not only because it’ll be fun to see, especially in the AFC, but because the Skins would lose him.
I also think they match up very well against both the Steelers and the Pats. They already smeared the Steelers in Pittsburgh this season, and their defense is precisely the kind that has always given Brady the most problems. And I think Bortles can be good enough against the Patriots’ defense, which isn’t great.
That is why I want Pittsburgh to win this game. It would be sweet if the Jags get the bye and then host the Pats in the divisional round.

Yeah I think they’re toast. I always thought they were a long shot though. Of all the things to worry about in the playoffs, Rodgers getting them in and leading them on a run was way down my list personally.
Now the hope is the Seahawks stay out of the playoffs.
And that Detroit gets in and upsets the Rams in the first round.

I’m hoping that with the long week and being back home, the D will turn it around. There are clear issues in the secondary that may not be fixable though. If Foles keeps playing like he did today, hopefully we can get away with that.

Dude, it’s been 26 days since the Cowboys game – so I rounded to a month.
And if you think this defense has been anything but hot garbage since then, you need to put the bottle down. Their D is in big trouble at this point.

3) Facing a recent Super Bowl champion at their home might be a tough game. The Pats and Steelers are winning games close and losing a few tough games too.
4) Facing a contender like the Rams on the same road trip – that’s a top offense in the NFC. Don’t forget we won it.
5) The Giants game today had “LOSS” written all over it. Classic trap game. We won it. So quit whining. At least don’t whine to me.

Don’t know how ‘fixable’ the defense is at this point. The struggle to deploy a standard 4-3 set because of the MLB personnel. Teams which have a half decent running game can attack them.
Teams have shown you can attack these corner CBs and now Robinson got hurt today which limits their secondary a bit more given how well he has played this season in the slot.
We need to activate Sydney Jones and play next 2 games to get playing experience and hopefully come playoffs he is at least a decent CB

Everybody is going to harp on the secondary but it comes back to the DL.
Last 2 weeks they have played at nowhere near the level they did earlier this year.
I posted on here earlier this week that this team will go as far as the DL takes them. Feel no different after today.
If they play like they did the last 2 weeks, they’ll be one and done in the playoffs.

Secondary doesn’t blow but coverage isn’t going to be a strength of it especially given their speed (McLeod/Mills/Douglas if he gets pressed into duty).
More a physical/bigger secondary which is what Schwartz supposedly prefers especially in his CBs.
If that accurately summarizes Schwartz’s philosophy, I look forward to him moving on – hopefully to another NFC east team.
I don’t think the front four blows. The Giants have schemed to take them out of the equation. They did the same earlier in the season, and it didn’t stop our front four from dominating other teams after that.
I still think we are seeing how important Hicks is. Much like the Cowboys with and without Lee.
A lot of the impact of losing a great player depends on how good the backup is. Foles is a competent, lower-tier starter level NFL QB so going from Wentz to him isn’t crippling. Vaitai has had his ups and downs but is a serviceable LT so losing Peters isn’t crippling. Our backup plan to Hicks is going from a normal 4-3 defense to one that only plays two linebackers most of the time because we only have two other decent LBs on the roster and his backup is Joe Walker. That has the potential to be crippling.
Statistically they equated him to Bortles and Dalton. I think that is pretty apt.
Kind of why I thought Foles was irrelevant to them winning or not.
With the upgraded skill players (and Ertz back), they’ll put up some points on the board.
Just a question if they need to have to put up 27-28+ points to have a realistic shot of winning every week. If they do, they aren’t winning 2 games in the playoffs.
The secondary deserves to get roasted after this game. The weakness of the dink-and-dunk style offense the Giants were running is that it has trouble getting yards in chunks and requires extreme efficiency to sustain drives. That is, unless your secondary misses tackle after tackle and allows them to get X plays without throwing the ball downfield, and/or bites on the short throws enough to set up the double move – which is exactly what happened today.
Other than not stopping the run and giving up X plays on short passes, I thought they played well… Showed a lot of heart
Shaky tackling by the secondary (which has been an issue the past 3 weeks) is a more pressing issue.
That is something which should can be more readily addressed even in a week.
Darby is going to get all kinds of grief but McLeod gave up his share of plays today as well today.
Supposed to be a big hitter but have seen almost no indication of this the past 2 years and he is slow especially on over the top help.

Jenkins is very solid, Robinson has generally played well, and Darby and McLeod don’t ‘blow.’
Darby just had a really tough game today and McLeod has his physical limitations.
Kind of how I feel about Mills. He can’t play outside CB because he is too slow but it doesn’t mean he might not be a solid fit at slot CB or S.

We were pretty ticked at the defense last time we played the Giants too, but that wasn’t indicative of future play. We can hope the same is true this time. The D really only pummels the bad QBs though, and those won’t exist in the playoffs.

Eagles’ fans don’t cry. They will complain vocally to one another largely regardless of how things went and then become very tribal against any outsider.
SOME eagles fans can be downright ignorant dickheads though. Like in a Philly Bar last week when most them were cursing about how bad of a coach Doug Pederson is.
I think those types are in the minority and by far. They are just far more pubic, vocal, loud and obnoxious and thus draw the attention. Most of us are just feeling forever cursed.

Anyone else catch Nicky Six making an incredibly intelligent move towards the end of the third quarter? It was 3rd down and Eagles have the ball. I forget how many yards we needed, but Nick was looking at the sideline getting the play call from Dug. He turns around to enter the huddle and immediately jumps backward like the ground was on fire. Took me a minute to figure out what happened. The substitution package was still switching out. If Nick steps in, the refs call 12 men in the huddle.
With all that is going on, how does a QB see that instantly, and react like he did. I was impressed.

Foles is very smart and game aware. You might beat him by exploiting physical limitations but he’s not going to beat himself with mental mistakes.
I would be very interested to know what was happening downfield on those throws where Foles was double-clutching it – did he not trust what he was seeing, or did the Giants show him something tricksy or was it just rust?
