The NFL announced Pro Bowl selections tonight.

Notice someone missing? No Jason Kelce.

Travis Frederick of the Cowboys and Alex Mack of the Falcons were the two Centers selected to the team. Both are outstanding players and well-known veterans. Both have played well this year, but there is no way Kelce should have been omitted. He’s having a good season and has been great in recent weeks.

Kelce wasn’t the only Eagle who might have been disappointed. You can also make a strong case for Brandon Graham. He’s having his best season and is one of the best LDEs in the league. The problem for Graham is that a lot of DEs are having great years. It is hard to argue against Everson Griffen, Cameorn Jordan and Demarcus Lawrence.

I think you could also make an argument for Kamu Grugier-Hill as the STs choice. Rookie Budda Baker from Arizona got the nod. KGH has been terrific at covering kicks and punts all year. He blocked a punt on Sunday. He also deserves a ton of credit for his kickoffs in the win over Dallas. How often do you see a positional player come in and kickoff and get a friggin touchback? I have never seen that. .

I’ve seen some people mention Nigel Bradham. He’s played well, especially in recent weeks, but simply hasn’t made enough plays. 4-3 LBs must make a lot of plays to get chosen. He’s dropped at least 4 INTs this year and a couple of those would have been easy pick-sixes.

I think most of the choices were right. All the Eagles chosen were deserving of the nod. Here is the full list of selections.

I haven’t seen any announcement on alternates yet. Kelce and Graham better be chosen for that.

UPDATE…

All of those make sense, except Jalen Mills. He’s played well this year, but I didn’t see him getting Pro Bowl attention. That surprises me.

Good for the Green Goblin.

Let’s go back to Kelce for a minute.

We all expected the Eagles to trade or possibly cut him in the offseason. Luckily, that didn’t happen. Sometimes the best moves you make are the ones you don’t make.

I’ve had the feeling that Doug Pederson would prefer a bigger, stronger player at C. Isaac Seumalo made sense as his long term replacement. The thought was that Chance Warmack could play LG and Seumalo could be the C.

Now we’ll have to wait and see what happens. Stefen Wisniewski has played well at LG and Kelce has been terrific. Contracts and age are always factor in offseason decisions, but the Eagles might just keep Wiz and Kelce around. Seumalo and Warmack will have to wait their turns.

Here are a couple of great finds from Sunday.

I think our 6 are exactly right.

Right. Which would have been 8 if JP and Sproles didn’t land on IR.

Sounds about right. Peters for sure.

I don’t know, seems Barner should’ve been in there at returner…

  5. 5 Guy Media said at 9:22 PM on December 19th, 2017:

Wouldn’t that require having some returns?

    Hah, touché

  7. 7 Guy Media said at 9:40 PM on December 19th, 2017:

And I’ve laid off of the abuse of Barner since he’s been re-signed as we needed to get a return man in here in a pinch.

I best not see his raggedy ass on this team next year however.

Have a feeling that will be Pumphrey’s spot to make the roster

    Nah Kelce deserves it.

Are we not considering Mills may have been voted in because of his sweet dance moves, league leading finger wag prowess, best hair in league? I can go on and on

Honestly, fan voting is absolutely impacted by recognition. No one studies tape before voting, but the remember the green-haired finger wagging guy on the 12-2 team from Sports Center.

He did have a sweet pick six

Eh. Mills was only a 3rd alternate. Wonder the “alternate position” of each of our guys.

  14. 14 SteveH said at 9:34 PM on December 19th, 2017:

Well the Sixers just lost to the Kings. After losing to the Bulls. And the Lakers.

Simmons desperately needs to develop an offensive game that involves shots from more than 8 feet away.

Can Fultz get his busted ass on the court?
What the fuck is up with JJ Red-brick?
Covington needs to stop shooing so many 3s if he’s not good at it
    Dario, where ya at?

  16. 16 ColorSgt said at 9:40 PM on December 19th, 2017:

I don’t really get the timing of the pro bowl selection. Why not wait til the end of the season when all the games are played?

  17. 17 Guy Media said at 9:41 PM on December 19th, 2017:

    That’s a damn good question.

  18. 18 Mr. Magee said at 10:18 PM on December 19th, 2017:

Couldn’t agree more. Why play 16 games if only 14 are needed to make pro bowl decisions? Were there no guys on the bubble that could play there way on or off the team over the last 2 games? What about guys who have bonus $ tied to pro bowl nomination?

  19. 19 ColorSgt said at 10:30 PM on December 19th, 2017:

It’s not like they play the game at the end of the regular season. There is time to wait and consider the full season, or full body of work.

  20. 20 John Luck Pickerd said at 10:53 PM on December 19th, 2017:

Because the Pro Bowl is stupid, that’s why.

    Alshon an alternate too.

  22. 22 Greg Tulino said at 12:23 AM on December 20th, 2017:

None of the all-pro selections matter. None of them will play in the game. They will be in Minnesota prepping for the Super Bow. Fingers crossed. 🙂

Chris Long has replaced Evan Mathis brilliantly.

  25. 25 Gary Barnes said at 8:18 AM on December 20th, 2017:

I’d bet Kelce shrugs this off since he has made the PB before and is used to not getting much credit. Just months ago, he was being routinely bashed by his own team’s fans and local media amid calls for cutting or trading him. If that can happen, it should be no surprise people on the national level overlook him. Keep doing your job, Kelce, that is all that matters.

  26. 26 xeynon said at 10:04 AM on December 20th, 2017:

Kelce is a really good player. Yeah, he struggles when asked to drive block the 330 pound NTs one-on-one, but the truth is almost any C in the league is going to have problems with that assignment. He’s extraordinarily athletic for a C and his ability to pull and get to the second level would be missed if we let him go.

  27. 27 Buge Halls said at 8:38 AM on December 20th, 2017:

It doesn’t matter how many got voted in, none of them will be playing in the Pro-Bowl – they’ll all be playing in the Super Bowl!

dat Brandon Graham back off on the blocked kick is awesome nerd football stuff
