Super Bowl Bound!!!
Posted: January 21st, 2018 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 347 Comments »The Eagles did it. They whipped the Vikings and are now headed to the Super Bowl.
Nick Foles was brilliant.
The defense dominated after a poor opening drive.
Amazing performance by a special team.
Fun now…analysis to come later.
Congrats Eagles fans…you deserve this.
_
One more game fellas. Pray to whoever you pray to, keep to your game day rituals, and FLY EAGLES FLY!!!
HOLY SHIT.
44-6 MOVE OVER.
HOW BOUT BIG V?!
I didn’t hear Griffen’s name mentioned once.
44-6 was my son’s first game.
AAAAHHHH!!! WERE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!
I’d give my second born to beat the Pats that badly
Any life advice to surviving the next two weeks up here without murdering 10000000 people?
I already had people telling me the job isn’t done. I said why do pats fans think “working as a team” is why you win and not BB or Brady. They said how many rings do eagles have? ( that’s not responsive). No it will suck. I’ll likely watch at home without my son. Can’t go to the neighbourhood party be outnumbered 50-1
I brought up them needing to cheat again and was told “that’s not factual” (I mean jfc what planet do they live on) and my girlfriends parents and cousins both are having parties (and are all pats fans), pretty sure I’m gonna have to come down with the “flu” that morning
Plus I’ll get invited to like 10 parties now. Everyone will want a token Eagles fan to make fun of. They have no fear of losing.
Yeah I’m already trying to explain that me telling her family members to eat my ass (winning) or to fuck off and die (losing) isn’t a good look
I meant with my son. He’s 8 and a pats fan.
It’s not too late to put him up for adoption
He’s adopted already. Forever family means forever.
That’s awesome and fair enough. Just a good grounding it is.
Just seemed selfish to push the eagles too much. I pushed a little then he chose the dark side.
Nahhh man, I think you can let that one go.
Very cool.
We’re not done yet.
Just joining. What did I miss? Jk go fucking BIRDS!!!!
Than God we have the least qualified head coach and QB in the NFL.
You have to love what this does to Michael Lombardis credibility. I mean, basically this kills his career better than a picture of him doing blow on a naked hooker, right?
Media members held accountable for being talking completely out of their ass? Lol.
This team man
That happened, right? If I wake up and its Sunday fucking morning, there will be carnage.
Lol
Hah, so many years ago I fantasized about Foles taking us to a Superbowl. Can’t believe it’s all come back around.
And of course, can’t forget Carson, who delivered the home field to the eagles by clinching the 1-seed
When did the trophy get so lame?
Not as lame as Bradshaw, half the song then annoyed it didn’t stop?
I was hoping Lurie would just grab the mic and tell terry to shut the fuck up and let the people sing
im glad lurie didnt stop
Lurie gets it.
Yeah that was a sad sack trophy presentation, Bradshaw is going senile, he needs to be let out to pasture.
You deserve it too, Tommy. You saw us through some dark days with perspective and patience.
look at JP up there. This team has respect for there vets.
Stop terry
Tommy is gonna be so lonely in Mobile next week
How the hell is he going to focus with the superbowl looming.
The only thing he’s going to ask players is if they will be available at 32 or after pick 100. Otherwise they don’t exist to us.
Sean McVay is almost certainly going to be named coach of the year since its based on regular season only,
By now, everyone knows Doug Pederson is THE coach of the year.
I’ll take him hoisting the Lombardi Trophy over that shit now.
I think McVey was already named?
Pretty sure that was just the PFWA, think the official one is the day before the game.
Thanks.
man, it’s been 14 years.
13 but whose counting?
I just thought about that Superbowl Party. Now I feel so old…
Those shirts that fit over guys wearing pads are huge
A lot of Americans wear that size…
It’s healthy if you drink diet.
Doug Pederson is a mothereffing football god.
I can’t wait to hear Lombardi’s take after this one.
“Well Jim Schwartz shut them down”
“Foles is the next Kurt Warner”
“Let’s see how he does in two weeks.”
“He’s been ok so far, but really we need to see how he does against Belichik.”
He actually gave credit on twitter. I’m not smart enough to post it.
Congrats Guys. The Eagles dominated today. Good luck in the Super Bowl. Beat the hell out of them.
Thanks for being so classy. I hope you guys get one soon if we can’t.
Better loss to you All than in the bowl. I couldn’t take 0-5
We know the feeling man.
You guys have a hell of a team and a hell of a coach. I have a feeling one of these years the dice will fall your way.
Thank you, man. With Zimmer, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing you guys in the playoffs regularly for years to come.
We’ll take all the luck we can get. Hopefully we represent the NFC well and put the dirty Pats down
Thx man I’ve never seen someone stop by to say that. Good luck next year great season.
Class act. Thank you.
Out of curiosity, who do you hope to see starting at QB next year? Big decision coming for you guys.
The Eagles would probably be willing to deal the Vikings Foles for another first round pick.
Lol. somebody will pay that price. I like Keenum. I can’t blame him much. D line got zero pressure and the O line was giving it up on the inside and especially the outside. Where ya gonna go??
Yeah, it is hard to put the blame on Keenum in a game like this.
The Vikes, Zimmer, invested heavily in the defense with money, FAs and top, draft picks for a couple of years. They didn’t get it done today. You want a top D then you need stops, sacks and turnovers in Big games. Got none of that today. They are a better D than that. At least they didn’t quit. Great to see that
And how did u find us??
Google. I saw all the comments on an article,a few days ago. Great comments and insights. Hardly dicks at all. You all need to work on that.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Better?
Sincerely an Eagles fan who grew up in Farmington
Lol Farmington is great. I spent years in Elko. Amazing Pheasant hunting!
I thought being under the radar helps with that.
I had To dig a little lol.
But seriously, great fans here.
We save our vitriol for infighting. 🙂
Lololol. I love that. Ya, we know that one also
Vikes have a young guy named Sloter. A strong arm but I don’t know if he will be anything. Too early. I would sign all three QBs. Keep,Keenum and deal Bradford or Bridgewater or both for, draft picks. They need O line depth badly. It’s better than last year but two guys out with injuries.
Don’t you think Teddy is better than Keemun?
Well maybe, a stronger arm certainly, smart, lovable leader. But he was just starting to come around when he blew up that knee. He made some Bradford like throws in the final preseason game he played and had much more mobility.m But it’s been two years. He might be amazing in the right place or never find the right situation. It will be waaaay interesting to see what the Vikes decide.
Case’s strength is his ability to keep his eyes downfield, feel the pressure and adjust while doing progressions. It’s really his secret power. Makes him a better choice than a healthy Bradford, at least behind this O line.
The rookie is the only one under contract. There won’t be any trades without a re-signing.
Much respect…if we lost i’d be upset but i would have been pulling for you guys to beat the pats in the superbowl.
Same here.
stay strong. always liked the vikings. you’ll get one.
Class act.
Of all the years I have had the honor of being a fan with you all, this has been the most special. This is a team that just beats the odds through sheer will power and talent. I never felt this was the most talented team we ever had but I felt those guys were going to come out and give it their all. Nick. I was wrong about him. I didnt think he had what it took. He proved something to me. He showed guts. Win or lose. Nick Foles deserves some respect.
When I was telling people why I thought the eagles would win the last two weeks, it was hard to explain… This team is just special…
I’m saying the same thing about winning in two weeks.
Nick Foles looked horrifying the last couple games of the regular season and honestly I am queasy thinking about which Nick we will get. But When you think about it. We have a reason to think this team is good. I think throughout the season, the offense at times felt pedestrian. But Doug has flashes. The Flashes from everybody this year was better than any I remember as an eagles fan. Except I don’t think we have a rusher as good as Hough Douglas or Jevon Kearse. I do think Barnett has Flashed that he could that good if not better. His bend is Godly and his length is filthy. Graham and Curry are above average and terrible to deal with. Fletcher Cox is a beast, probably the best DT we have ever had. As eagles fans we remember the bad tackling years, the god awful offensive outings where we couldn’t convert on third down. The bad redzone defense, the CB that couldn’t track the ball, and the list goes on. When we got so much of that and then turn around and see those things eliminated. Subconsciously we feel like that foggy doubt dissipate. I think we can see it because we have withstood all the bad. We know it aint that. But I argue we haven’t seen the best. And thats whats special. We know what we couldn’t do. but WHAT CAN WE DO. CAN NICK FOLES SHAKE A DEFENDER BREATHING DOWN HIS NECK AND THROW A BEAM TO ALSHON JEFFERY WHO BROKE HIS ROUTE BECAUSE HE HAS IQ. Before it happened. I would have said no. now, I say I think he has more special sauce where that came from.
I hope the team spends the next two weeks recording the hit track “Dougie’s Watching You”.
Truly thought our lines could beat theirs and possibly dominate! Besides Nick’s obvious poise and performance that was key. Though everyone was awesome!
The Eagles offensive line was mauling people and the defensive line was in Keenum’s grill every time he dropped back to throw. If both units play like that again in two weeks we will have a parade on Broad Street.
Doug has this whole team in position to do just that! I hate the Patriots. It would be great to get our first against Patriots.
I was sorta’ hoping the Pats would beat the Jags so we can beat them in the SB.
Zimmer isn’t speaking. We broke him.
That was rather odd. Sean Payton took the mic after that absolutely killer loss and was gracious. Zimmer had a full half for this loss to sink in and he’s a no-show afterwards?
ric flair wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Am I allowed to worry out loud about the Patriots yet?
Monday at 10, 24 hour policy
Agreed
No.
This team can beat the Pats. Seriously.
Their defense can bleed and can’t pass rush worth a damn, they can’t really run it, the one scary thing is the eagles will have to keep scoring. No lead is safe.
Also getting to end the dynasty with Big Dick Nick is going to be so perfect.
Yep. Brady is incredible but he and Gronk are the only two guys on that team playing at that level. Still might be enough but we can play with them.
If you can take away Gronk and keep Cooks from hurting you, you’ve got to feel good about our odds.
Or if Gronk doesn’t play.
How many brain cells does the dude have to damage? There’s no way he’s not playing.
https://twitter.com/Astonia67/status/955188709246275585
It’s unfortunate in a few ways, but yeah, he’s playing.
Can he play beer pong? then he’s not concussed.
Exactly. The Eagles match well against the Pats. Brady can be rattled in big games, ask the Giants.
I prefer it.
I Wanted the patriots. They are very beatable
Always liked Howie Long, It’s a nice perk to have him come over to the Green side along with his son. And his grandson has every wife in America swooning.
No injuries – this is our year fellows.
I mean other than the laundry list of preexisting ones…
I hope those fireworks set some greasy light poles ablaze.
Everyone, you are now officially allowed to use the 9-letter S word without recrimination. Thank you for your patience,
Swaziland?
That, too.
“SUPERBOWL!”
LII!
Never loose Faith! So glad Foles had a great game, very proud of this Eagle team. Way to represent Philly fans. #flyeaglefly One More Game to win!
So I cant worry about the pats. How about this: Panthers beat Pats we beat Panthers ifso factso…we beat the Patriots!
We got the formula. D-line, O-line, hog clock. We all we need!
With big balls Doug and huge Cox.
Pats struggle against the Jags, Eagles dominate Vikings = Eagles dominate Pats.
I love all of you
Dude.
Dude!
What?
Dude,
Mike Zimmer’s glasses just scream “I know I’m not getting laid and I’m okay with that!”
He’s 1-11 in the postseason.
he had a retinal detachment and only has one good eye now, so those are those indestructible safety glasses.
It was really rude for the Eagles offense to keep rubbing it in his eye
at least it was his bad eye
Stars of the game:
1) Foles
2) Barnett
3) Ajayi
1. Foles
2. Robinson
3. Doug
4. Big V
5. Barnett
Alshon.
He was big too.
The crazy part is if I told you my 5 were the reason we won the championship in August you would have me committed.
I would have assumed Robinson was picked up by our opponent after we cut him getting down to 53 and was forced onto the field by many injuries and, covering Ags, led to our victory.
Agholor is going to burn Rowe for the game winning TD
Not before Ertz burns Chung.
Man, you beat me to that post.
See top of the thread
German, AC Viking, Tommy, ATG, Cho Time, Dave, SteveH, D3FB,Hawaiian Eagle, DragonEagles, PPK, MaskedMsn, Geagle. MEDIA MIKE, Media Guy, Ark87 …. !!!!#
Big V isn’t high enough. We got several closeups of him tonight, and he was exceptionally adequate.
love it.
He was fantastic, I just don’t know how you knock any of the three above him down at all.
amazed at how good Big V did…that seemed like the main reason the offense played so well…O-Line
TEAM! !
SO MANY MOVING PARTS ALL MADE IT HAPPEN. .. 1 MORE TO GO
Long.
It’s crazy, no one has let us down, everyone showed up. Ajayi, Blount, mother freaking Clement. Torrey Smith actually showed up. Alshon performed like a true #1 vs a probowl CB. There was no weak link on the O-line. And no one played small on the Defense.
Very true about Alshon. He definitely earned his paycheck today and proved why we brought him in to be a legit #1 WR.
That early Torrey drop had me pulling my hair out.
There’s always something isn’t there?
In both games, players who made mistakes early came back with big plays to redeem themselves. In this game, Smith with the drop comes back for some nice catch and runs and the beautiful TD catch and Burton not getting his feet made a nice play with a hard run for a first down. Against the Falcons, Ajayi fumbles and comes back and runs like a madman, and Burton let’s the punt hit him for a turnover and comes back and blocks punt.
My random point by point-
1) Thought that our DBs could run with the Minny WRs all day long. They did.
2) Thought that Doug Pederson could be the difference not only in this game, but in the playoffs in general. So far he is.
3) Jim Schwartz has tightened the defensive rotation, especially the D
Line, like a basketball team in the playoffs that starts to go only 7-8
players deep during the big games. And it’s working.
4) Chris Long had a strong game. Pressured and hit Keenum to cause the Pat Robinson interception and TD. Then fell on the fumble after Barnett sacked
Keenum. Eagles scored on the next offensive drive. Big plays.
5) Nick Foles has been getting better every week, in case nobody noticed. Almost perfect passing rating today? Wow!
But never thought we would steamroll their D. Great gameplan by Doug, awesome execution by Nick & squad.
Doug has revamped the offense to play to Nick’s strengths while playing the games over a 6 week span.
New York
Oakland
Dallas
Atlanta
Minnesota
He’s 4-1 in the games and 2-0 in the playoffs and Super Bowl bound! Big “Wow” for Dougie!
Big “Woof” for our underdog Coach!
ARF! ARF!
He’s never been neutered.
Hey D3B and I are coming to your house in 2 weeks.
My & my buds host some of the best Eagles football you could watch. You guys would fit right in. But, I might not be here because, no kidding aside, a friend from Minn called and said she might have tickets to the game for me & my son.
I hate you
There goes your ticket.
Dad? Is that you?
You forgot Father’s Day.
What do you mean? I got you NFC champs Eagles?
Yea, but you made me wait 13 years.
ATG did you post that 50 Cent gif last week ?? It rocks. .i saved it but i can’t get it to upload
Not me.
Why would she invite gang members over?
Some chicks like bad boys.
Actually, I believe since this was the first game since the Giants game that Foles played in good weather. That fact and his 5th straight start made Pederson believe he could take the handcuffs off Foles and the offense.
Hey Big Philly!
You kept the faith the whole way this season man. Never down on the team. Always seeing the possibilities. It’s been cool all season checking out your posts and rooting for the team with you! Enjoy the moments! Big game in two weeks!
Now, let’s get revenge against the Patriots.
I thought our OL could possibly dominate their DL. We have a pretty great OL. Their interior DL just didn’t scare me.
Nick’s performance seemed to mirror the temperature, a good sign going to play in a dome.
The big thing nobody was talking about. Foles was terrible when the temperature was below freezing and it was windy, and great otherwise. Fly Eagles Fly!
AS it turns out wiz was the missing link all season long. Qb is plug and go.
Wiz Rocks!!!!
Didn’t hear Big V’s name all game long. Solid!
Being from Denmark, I only started to really follow the NFL in 2005, and picked the Eagles as my team, so this is a first for me. This season has been incredible and unforgettable. This is unbelievable, this is a special team, I love these guys, everyone stepping up, including the coaches, we have a real shot at winning in two weeks.
It’s 4 in the morning here(luckily I have the day off), but I can’t sleep, I’m bubbling. This is so f’ing amazing
Fly Eagles Fly!
Still got a job to finish, but WOW, what a ride this season has been! Not enough thanks can be given to Tommy for his insight and reasoned takes on each game. This site is by far the most reliable and full of great people.
I can remember as a kid in the very early 90s just thinking how great it would be to win a playoff game. That big win vs. the Saints (who were also colossal chokers in the postseason) was like a Christmas gift. Ditto for the big win over Detroit in ’95. Then when Andy and McNabb came on board with the dominant defense I thought for sure they would eventually get to a SB. It took 4 tries, but sure enough they did.
I guess where I’m going here is…we have to savor the moment! It’s only happened 1 other time in my life so I’m obviously elated. But this time, we have to seize the moment and finally bring one home for the all the past legends who so desperately wanted to win one for Philly.
A big SB win couldn’t happen to a better group of players/coaches. I really think we have a special group of guys. So many class acts. Sure would be nice to finally hoist that elusive Lombardi trophy.
IN an era of pompous, spoiled, egotistical athletes, this team truly is something special.

So..if we do win the Eagles Mt Rushmore would be..
Dougie
Wentz
Howie
Foles
right?
I don’t know, but whoever it is, one of us will have to step up and get Tommy a new graphic. I think if we do win the big game, I think that constitutes a change.
Who put up the 50 gif a few what’s ago …? I saved it, but it won’t load for me
Yeahh…
Everybody is standing on the shoulders of Carson and the 13 games he had. Howie put it together. Doug made is special. Nicky held the fort and is peaking at the right time.
Dougie Wentz Howie Foles & Cox.
This is awesome

My guess is the Ertz children are going to be first round picks in whatever sport they take up in about 20 years. Talk about good athletic genes.
Plus mom and dad went to Santa Clara and Stanford and they’ll be millionaires. They’ll lead charmed lives.
How cool!
So weird, my Mom’s maiden name is Ertz. I’ve never even heard of anyone with that name who’s not part of my family. This has nothing to do with my support of ZE!
You’re probably related to him?
Maybe from somewhere back in Germany I guess.
Yeah you most likely are. In 2010, there were only 642 people with the last name Ertz living in the US.
http://names.mooseroots.com/l/67285/Ertz
Very cool chart! There are some in Louisiana, too. Our people are from Iowa.
His father went to Lehigh and school in Reading…a lot of Germans who go way back in USA came through Germantown, Lancaster, Lehigh Valley (Pa. Dutch) originally.
You should hit him up for tickets, long lost cousin and all that.
My mom maiden name is Cox .. the Cox jokes end next week! !!
Dawk and Wilbert were honorary Captains today. I hope they do something like that for the SB.
Movie sequel in two weeks:
Pats: Revenge for 2004
I freely admit I gave up on the season (at least getting to the Super Bowl) when Wentz went down.
Nice to see something break on the positive side for a Philly sports franchise this decade where much hasn’t.
https://youtu.be/-iFOVi0vJGU
Savage haha
It seems like someone with the proper talents could insert teams emblems into this. Tom is the goat, right?
Tom & Beli with 10th trip to supert bowl are clearly g o a t meat
You should see the salt coming from my Cowboy fan friend. God I bet this stings for those front running fuckers.
Nick is getting x-rays on ribs. He will play obviously but hope he can be as recovered as possible.
There’s no way that he doesn’t play in 2 weeks
Just to make sure he has a normal heart and not a cold, steel one of an assassin, right?
Right?!
After precautionary xrays, Foles announces, “I’m good.” http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/21/nick-foles-im-good-after-x-rays-on-ribs/
This team has me believing we’d beat the Patriots with Sudfeld if we had to.
Looking at the National media coverage describing the Eagles win with superlatives such as “blow out” “rout,””dominate,” destroy, “soar.”
And yet we’re 5.5 point underdogs in the SB, the early conventional wisdom seems to be that the Patriots will win easily, and people are complaining that it won’t be a competitive game
Got news for you guys: if the Patriots don’t do a better job blocking Cox, Graham, Barnett, Curry and Long than the Falcons and Vikings did, and the Pats’ defense (which will be easily the worst of the three the Eagles have faced this offseason statistically) doesn’t do a better job pressuring the QB or getting off blocks in the run game than the Falcons’ and Vikings’ defenses did, you’re all going to be wrong again.
Man, if we manage to pull this off and win this SB it will be SO sweet to prove all these morons wrong.
I was more worried about the Vikes than the Pats. The Giants showed how to beat up Brady in the SB and throw him off his game, and you’re 100% right about the Pats D.
Yep. I don’t want to get cocky, because I respect the hell out of Brady and Belichick and we could absolutely lose the game. But I think our offense will not have a problem moving the ball against their D, and I think our defense is quite capable of replicating the Giants’ blueprint and wrecking their offense by dominating in the trenches.
Further news; the Patriots never cover in the Super Bowl.
So the defense almost had a shut out. It was a net 0, really. Always a good day when your defense scores as many points as they allow.
THEY FUCKING WON!!!!
So when Foles wins Super Bowl MVP in 2 weeks, does this mean the Eagles can trade Wentz to the Browns for 3 future first round picks including the No, 1 pick this year?
When we beat the Patriots, we can all say:
https://youtu.be/BI5IA8assfk?t=1m8s
A situation similar to Brees and Rivers in San Diego
If Nick Foles wins the Superbowl, who will be the QB next year? Who cares!!!!!!!!!
No, it means Howie can trade Foles to the Jags for their 2018 first rounder and Telvin Smith.
is there a difference between the two?
I think one runs like a giraffe.
One is the greatest of all time, the other won 4 Super Bowls with the 49ers!
This is so much fun, how come we haven’t done this before?
Hey everybody! German Eagle was at the game, right? Eagles guest?
We can thank him now.
I believe GE and Sb2Bowl were at the game. Can’t confirm tho
Last seen shimmying up greased light poles.
GE as seen pictured here
https://twitter.com/barstoolsports/status/955284338924511237
The guy on the car or the bird mask guy at the end? 🙂
Is this South Philadelphia or a Purge sequel?
That’s fucking incredible.
Awww… It’s nuts out there! I’m happy about it too.
But that’s why I watch on TV. Hahahaha!
LOL at Lurie clowning the Vikings. “They have a great stadium. And we get to play there in two weeks!”
Holy shit Lurie is an undercover savage lol.
Cold blooded man.
My favorite radio call was the pick-6 by Robinson. It was a pretty memorable call by Reese.
Wotld love to hear it
Wasn’t as good on the 2nd listening. Still fun though
Thank yooooooooo
“Hello, Super Bowl: Underdog Eagles dominate Vikings 38-7”
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/21/hello-super-bowl-underdog-eagles-dominate-vikings-38-7/
It should have been that loud though in the 1st quarter though. It was way too quiet after that early TD.
GERMAN DRIVE SAFE. .IN FACT JUST KEEP DRIVING TO MINNEAPOLIS. .YOU HAVER PLENTY OF TIME
Win One for Merrill.
Longest-tenured NFL announcer now (since 1977) and been the voice for Eagles’ football for 3 generations now.
Love to see the passing numbers off play-action tonight. I bet they are ridiculous.
WOW WOW WOW!
We’re in the Super Bowl
Maybe just the former lineman in me, but I’m already pissed off by some of the pre-SB analysis I’m seeing from the national media. It’s all about how the Eagles are big underdogs because their QB is better than our QB.
That is true, but these people completely ignore that our O line is way better than their D line and our D line is way better than their O line. The Eagles have one of the best offensive lines and one of the best defensive lines in the entire league. They are dominant in the trenches. That’s really important. Do people not remember how Tom Brady lost his two Super Bowls?
I’m more pissed off about Diggs and Barr acting like they’re somebody on our field when they’re clearly NOBODIES and should shut the fuck up and/or jump in front of a moving train for acting like that on our field.
I remember how Brady lost his two Super Bowls, and hostory will three-peat itself in two weeks.
I say whatever. Get ready for Blah Blah Blah for 2 weeks. We’ll see who are SB Champs on the 4th…
It just annoys me that people who get paid to comment on/write about this sport know so little about it.
Having a franchise QB is one of the most important pieces for winning at the highest level in football. Having great offensive and defensive lines is only slightly less important. But because it’s a lot less sexy, nobody talks about that or acknowledges that as big of a mismatch as Brady-Foles is in their favor, the matchups on the lines are equally big mismatches in our favor.
I can certainly see a scenario in which Brady plays brilliantly and beats us. But a scenario in which our OL knocks the hell out of their defense and keeps the ball away from him with long drives while our pass rush is in his face every time he drops back is also on the table. This Eagles team is very similar to the two Giants teams that beat him, but even better along the lines.
Agree. I’ll stay in the silent minority and gloat afterwards.
This truth has been around for a very long time. “Football is won and lost in the trenches.” Every football expert should know this. Many times the skill of the lines are a wash so you can point to other reasons why a team might win, but that will not be the case in this SB.
Tom Brady never threw 7 TDs in a game.
Dude that’s what I’ve been saying all day
I don’t think you’re wrong to say that we match up decently against the Patriots. I still think Jacksonville would’ve been the easier opponent (I think Schwartz’s defense would murder Blake Bortles), but I agree with you that the Patriots are very beatable.
This guy saw it as a challenge…
https://twitter.com/mattgelb/status/955278989643472896
It as almost as if you told a bunch of kids not to do something and then idiots are even more encouraged to do it (see eating Tide pods on social media).
Didn’t realize the Quick and Reese have been broadcasting partners now since 1998.
Still partial to Walters (just a better color analyst especially on OL/DL play) but Quick has grown on me over the years even if i wouldn’t say he is the most astute color analyst.
Really long time for two announcers in the NFL to stick together. Curious to see if it is the longest-tenured broadcasting NFL duo since Reese is the longest tenured NFL team announcer at this point.

First article out of the Ringer goes without a single mention of the Eagles playing out of their god-damn mind. A reckoning is coming for your Pats-loving boss!
Ridiculous. It’s like they don’t even acknowledge that there was another team on the field.
The reason the Vikings failed at all those things is that Doug Pederson and Jim Schwartz are terrific football coaches and had offensive and defensive game plans that consistently befuddled and overwhelmed the Vikings, and the Eagles have a lot of good players who balled out of their goddamned minds tonight. Yet reading this story you’d think those failures happened in a vacuum.
“According to multiple sportsbooks, the Patriots will open up as 5.5-point favorites over the Eagles in the Super Bowl.”
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2018-super-bowl-odds-line-eagles-are-big-underdogs-again-this-time-against-patriots/
Eagles will likely continue to play the ‘underdog card’ as well as local media the next 2 weeks but being dogs by -5.5 isn’t that much especially against a defending Super Bowl champion.

Ha coming off a comeback 4 point win off the jags at home, that is a damn sucker bet that Vegas is begging people to take. After the demolition of the vikes Vegas needs to put the betting on New England to win.
Vegas has been wrong about us all season. Why not one more time?
Real eye patch or prop comedy?
Vikings’ defense – 25% 3rd down success rate (best since 1991)
Eagles offense – 71% tonight
I have to go back and look but the Eagles completed at least 3 third downs that were 8 yards or more tonight.
That to me is the most unbelievable stat of all. And it’s not like all those 3rd downs were short yardage either – Foles was picking them apart even on 3rd and long.
I still can’t believe that Doug called a Flea Flicker to Torrey Smith for a TD…
You know how Jacksonville froze up and chickened out today rather than going for the jugular when they had the Pats on their heels?
Yeah, I don’t see Doug doing that if the Eagles get the lead.
Yeah one of the key moments in the game was the drive right before half time when we got the FG
Torrey sold it well.
Siiiiiiick catch of the season for Mr Smith as well !!
It was a pretty amazing play.
The absolute TD bomb Foles made to Jeffrey for the TD tonight by shuffling around & moving up in the pocket to avoid pressure was one of the best throws this year I have seen.
Just aired it out and nearly hit Jeffrey in stride
Honestly Wentz probably would have over or under thrown that pass.
Lots of deep strikes. Eagles must have seen some weakness in the Vikings’ secondary especially vs off play-action.
That throw to Jeffrey was aired out 50+ yards in the air. Damn impressive.
I think it was less seeing something in the defense, more guessing the Vikings were scheming to stop the run and the quick pass which would leave the opportunity for big plays out there.
When Foles is on his game, he is a really capable QB. He was dropping dimes tonight.
Mostly has to do with protection, IMHO. When he’s not running and has time (or it’s rare), he can be very very good. If holes open up in the lines, and he starts running backwards, it can get ugly quick.
We have won the battle in the trenches the last two games, which has been the absolute key, and we’re going to have to do that against the Patriots to have a chance.
Protection is a big part of it, but even when the Vikings did collapse the pocket tonight, he stepped up, escaped the pressure, and made good throws. I think confidence, rhythm, and play calls which play to his strengths as a more instinctual, see-and-throw type player are also huge.
I think the battle of the trenches in the SB is a mismatch in our favor, honestly. It’s one reason I’m actually more confident they’ll win the SB than I was that they’d win this game.
Foles moved better in the pocket than I can remember ever seeing from him. He wasn’t running back, he didn’t have happy feet, he climbed the pocket, had good lateral steps, different arm slots, pulled it and reloaded with confidence. Good protection, yeah. But his pocket presence was tops.
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22056762/ranking-top-10-qb-playoff-performances-qbr-era
Foles had the 4th best playoff game by QBR tonight since it first started to get used in 2006.
I wouldn’t trust that one bit: https://offthemonstersports.com/2015/10/espns-invented-qbr-rating-system-is-severely-flawed-get-a-load-of-this/
He also passed the much-discussed eye test today. It wasn’t just statistically a great game, he looked like a guy playing a great game.
If you knew nothing about the identities of these players or their track records in the league, and somebody told you that the Eagles had an elite QB, you wouldn’t change your mind based on watching Foles play tonight.
I honestly think it might well have been his best game in an Eagles uniform, 7 TDs against the Raiders included.

Two things that stood out to me about Foles. 1. When did he get that pocket awareness? 2.When did he learn to throw guys open?
So Barnett, who we took with the Vikings pick that we go for Sam Bradford, makes a key strip sack to help the Eagles beat the Vikings. Love it.
People always seem to like the fiery, emotional coach vs the calm, passive coach.
I’ll admit I was a not of the Pederson hire but I’ll take the calm, passive coach over the fiery, animated coach as the head coach any time.
The later seem to have pretty limited shelf lives and tend to wear out their welcome pretty quick especially if their teams don’t win.
Doug is pretty quickly establishing himself as a master tactician which I think is the most important thing.
He just surgically dissected the best defense in the NFL with a backup QB. He shredded a historically great 3rd down defense on 3rd downs. That was off-the-charts-good game planning and play calling.
Sweet highlight reel…

Nick Foles is the quarterback Dak Prescott wishes he could be.
Lol at Dallas. We have 2 QBs better then Prescott.
Just curious…what is your general position on Dak?
Dak aint shit, and the whole world needs to know it lol.
To be fair, some of Dak’s worst games came when he didn’t have Sean Lee…
LMAO! Sarcasm?
Bingo! Hah
Dak is a fourth rd draft pick that plays like a fourth rd draft pick.
I think we match up better against NE than JAX. Brady will be a statue with a huge target on him for the best pass rush in the league.
I agree we match up well with New England.
May be tempting fate here, but while I respect the Patriots, I don’t fear them at all. I absolutely think we can move the ball on their defense, and I think our pass rush is capable of giving Brady problems.
The one thing we have that Jacksonville doesn’t is a good mix of veterans and youth. IMO it was the lack of experience that caused the Jags to fade today.
That and the Jags’ coaches suffering some major shrinkage in key spots.
Big Balls Doug is not going to be running the ball into the middle of the line against an 8 man front if he has a 10 point lead. That much is certain.
On offense, yes. They got too conservative and lacked the creativity to counter NE’s adjustments. I have no doubt that Pederson & Co will bring some shiny new ideas handcrafted to beat NE’s defense.
On defense, the Jags young players just got eaten alive by Brady’s experience. We have the veterans on defense to help keep our younger players smart.
Man Charles Barkley is on TV drunk as hell right now lol. He’s like 1 beer away from being like “hey… hey… hey… lemme tell u something… Gunner… I gotta tell you something…”
congrats everyone! Just got home from a huge Eagles game viewing. Many high fives were given. Oddly enough. Not much is as satisfying as a high five from another grown man when the sports team you both favor does something worth celebrating!!!
This isn’t sarcasm. My friends and I jump around like idiots when something good happens in an Eagles game.
KEEP JuppIN AND KEEP THE HIGH 5S FLOWING
I’m pretty sure the neighbors think we’re lunatics, the way we scream. When Patrick Robinson scored that pick 6 I think it changed from screaming to shrieking.
During the regular season if forced to nitpick many believed HR’s only slight “blunder” was paying Nick Foles that much money. About that….
Hats off Howie.
I felt like we gave up on Nick too quickly. Turns out I might have been on to something.
I read an article about it like a month plus before Wentz even went down.
He is not the talent Wentz is. But in the right scheme, with the right coaching, he can win.
I was one of the few that loved the move. I took it as the FO acknowledging, and hedging against Wentz’ injury history. I figured we’d see seasons like this and there aren’t many QBs I’d rather see taking over than Foles.
Yeah, he did have his share of injuries in college. Also had that injury during preseason of last year. He plays hard and is a big target.
I was certainly wrong
So, I should mention, that my aunt and uncle (Redskins, Saints fan respectively) got me a rather nice but semi-gag gift for christmas. It like one of the wall display cases that you can velcro stuff to or w/e. Obviously the dig is that the thing is devoid of anything superbowl related. But they filled it with a couple of old Eagles patches and signs aaaaand a rookie Nick Foles card that is in a card protector an anything.
Joke’s on them!
Wait until the spring, when the Saints and Redskins are bidding for the Foles trade to come their way.
Had velcro been invented yet when the Redskins last won a Superbowl?
1991 which was well after velcro’s 80s halcyon days.
Velcro was invented for the astronauts of the 60s.

About time.
What else can he say now? Fuck Lombardi.
He can sleep on it and say “on second thought, let’s see how he does in the Super Bowl against a good coach”.

Amazing game- LFF was rocking tonight. Had the chance to meet the good Steve Smith; we’re winning the Super Bowl! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/eae68673e825510fbc63d840f84fe6341b9d7f26bb81467ae41e3bcda21fb245.jpg
One quibble. Eagles players mocking Vikings fans with the Skol thing.
Unprofessional. Also this kind of disrespect has a way of biting the perpetrators on the butt.
