Winning it against arguably the best QB ever, and the best coach ever, after our franchise QB got hurt and people gave up hope, with a backup who we gave up on three years ago and who looked very shaky after coming off the bench.. it had to be this way.
Winning a snoozer against the Jaguars wouldn’t have been the same. This is amazing.

Their whole offense is smash-mouth, and NE shut that down, and there was no plan B. Bortles gets too much of the blame imo. He’ll probably be gone next season, but whoever replaces him needs to get some creative play calling behind him.

I’ve watched a lot of Eagles games from the UK, often staying up stupidly late to do so. I’ve seen the Playoff loss to New Orleans at 2am, I’ve seen McNabb go down on the Interception against the Cowboys on Monday night, I’ve seen the 2004 Superbowl. I’ve sometimes wondered why I bother.

That would have been awesome. On a side note and not that anybody cares, we won that flag football championship on a goal line stand a la Eagles vs Falcons… Winning by 6, one of our defensive backs made back to back pass interference in goal line and we held them to no yards from the one on 3 consecutive plays (game ended with a pass knockdown with no seconds on the clock after a 4 year drought of no championships…the last time we won was back in 2013 (and we lost 2 other championships in the process).
As Jim Harbaugh said, (or someone else did) ‘there’s nothing like shared success’ and this applies to not only the Eagles per se… But Paul Domowitch getting DAWK in the hall, Tommy writing every week since I ever know… ACVIKING getting through history, D3FB guiding us with his game knowledge, ATG making me laugh, Xenyon with his great writing and anyone else I missed out I’m sorry but we all deserve this! To beat Belli’s Pats and join the ranks of Superbowl Champions with our back up QB is a real Cinderella story and so dramatic that a movie could be made about this team.
IMO it would be a box office smash.
Just flabbergasted and I feel that the universe is now balanced and everything everywhere is where it should be.

Let’s go out on a limb here. Let’s discuss the quarterback situation. The common thought here is what can we get for Foles? Or We need to keep Foles in case Carson isn’t ready come fall. So thinking outside that and being crazy, Foles is a Superbowl MVP. He just killed it. How much can we trade him for or is it how much can we trade Carson for?

Foles has pretty minimal trade value. Couple day 3 picks, maybe a late 3 max. You don’t trade Wentz for anything in the world.
You do whatever Foles wants. If he wants to go get paid then thank you we’ll always love you, work with us to find a team. If he wants to stay, ok.

But here’s the thing–his performance these last few games was not an aberration. Is he as good as Wentz, hell no . Is he a starter in the NFL? I don’t see how folks can argue against it. His numbers for his career: 61 tds, 29 int . Breaks single game td passes record. Pro bowl starter .pro bowl mvp .super bowl starter, super bowl mvp. He had one year in St Louis where every QB on the team looked terrible . Then the head coach leaves and all three QBs are studs for their respective playoff teams .
I really don’t know when folks are going to stop trying to mitigate Foles successes. He makes big boy throws and reads .will he ever beat Wentz out? Nope. But the eagles could get a 2d rounder for him.

I rarely disagree with you, but 1 of 32 teams is going to offer something good for Foles. Howie has the luxury or waiting to see how Carson looks in April, June, September… and how the the rest of the roster shakes out, before he has to pull the trigger on a Foles deal.
As I see it, the moment Wentz is good to go, Craigslist will look like : FOR SALE- 1 QB, used, has Super Bowl MVP experience, 2nd rounder (the real value over salary round), OBO. Young talent also accepted.

Quarterbacks are at a premium. A guy who’s proven he can play at an elite level in the playoffs given the right circumstances, which at this point Foles has, is going to have value.

I don’t think the “they should go to Sudfeld” talk was as legitimate as you’re implying. Pederson looked at the reporter who asked that question like he had two heads. I think that was more a discussion among fans/media than something the coaches considered.
I agree that two great postseason games doesn’t make Foles an elite QB, but I think he’s shown throughout his career that when you put him in an offense that plays to his strengths and gives him playmakers, he can produce at a high level. That’s more than you can say for a lot of starting QBs in this league.
I also think there is a significantly higher number of dumb/desperate front offices and fan bases in the NFL than you seem to believe. We just saw the Redskins fork over one of their better young defenders and a 3rd round pick to make a lateral move to an older version of the same guy they already had at QB for chrissake.

I’m not saying Foles SHOULD fetch a high price – as much success as he’s had, he’s shown that he’s a guy that needs the right support structure to succeed and is not a “carry the team” type of player the way Wentz can be. I agree with you that it’s crazy talk to entertain the idea of trading Wentz and riding with Foles. There is a big talent gap there. But given how desperate for good QB play this league is, I think Foles COULD fetch a high price.

You have a young franchise QB who is going to be a top 5 QB for a decade. You don’t trade him because your backup just had two great playoff games.

I find the last comment interesting. Notice how much difference Doug, McVay, and Zimmer seem to have made for their teams. Even Andy. I have noticed that coaches seem to matter more than they usually did lately.
