    Gents,

Been an Eagles Fan for the past 18 years, lived in Philly for 10..watching from India now..couldn’t make it to Philly for the SuperBowl!! What a game by St. Nick and Big Balls Doug!!!

SuperBowl, Baby!! Never thought it would happen in my lifetime. The last time I was in Philly when they lost to the Cheatriots.

  38. 38 xeynon said at 10:48 PM on February 4th, 2018:

We knew this championship wasn’t coming easy. Nothing ever does in Philadelphia.

Winning it against arguably the best QB ever, and the best coach ever, after our franchise QB got hurt and people gave up hope, with a backup who we gave up on three years ago and who looked very shaky after coming off the bench.. it had to be this way.

Winning a snoozer against the Jaguars wouldn’t have been the same. This is amazing.

  39. 39 shah8 said at 10:49 PM on February 4th, 2018:

Jacksonville would have been the champs if they had Foles.

  40. 40 shah8 said at 10:51 PM on February 4th, 2018:

Reflecting…It is truly amazing just how much Jacksonville wasted their great defense on Blake freakin’ Bortles, even after they knew very well what he was. Any sort of remotely competent QBing, and they beat everyone up.

  41. 41 unhinged said at 10:57 PM on February 4th, 2018:

Their whole offense is smash-mouth, and NE shut that down, and there was no plan B. Bortles gets too much of the blame imo. He’ll probably be gone next season, but whoever replaces him needs to get some creative play calling behind him.

  42. 42 xeynon said at 10:56 PM on February 4th, 2018:

Agreed. Having a coach like Pederson who knows how to coax elite performances out of a physically limited QB would help them too though.

  43. 43 anon said at 3:17 AM on February 5th, 2018:

We thought Foles was Bortles a month ago

  46. 46 Ark87 said at 10:49 PM on February 4th, 2018:

I just cannot believe this, the defense absolutely evaporated in the face of Tom Brady, and Nick Fing Foles went punch for punch with him in a slug fest and won. What is even going on!?

  47. 47 Insomniac said at 10:49 PM on February 4th, 2018:

An underdog story that no one believed.

  48. 48 Ark87 said at 10:53 PM on February 4th, 2018:

Ha, I believed, I just thought the defense was going to punch Brady in the mouth for us haha! They came through and made 1 play and that’s all Nick needed!

  49. 49 anon said at 2:54 AM on February 5th, 2018:

  51. 51 RobNE said at 11:06 PM on February 4th, 2018:

Exactly. The Pats couldn’t be stopped. Everyone was college open. And so we just outscored them.

  52. 52 anon said at 3:16 AM on February 5th, 2018:

I’ve watched a lot of Eagles games from the UK, often staying up stupidly late to do so. I’ve seen the Playoff loss to New Orleans at 2am, I’ve seen McNabb go down on the Interception against the Cowboys on Monday night, I’ve seen the 2004 Superbowl. I’ve sometimes wondered why I bother.

    My god this feels good.

  66. 66 Jesús M Hernández said at 11:28 PM on February 4th, 2018:

That would have been awesome. On a side note and not that anybody cares, we won that flag football championship on a goal line stand a la Eagles vs Falcons… Winning by 6, one of our defensive backs made back to back pass interference in goal line and we held them to no yards from the one on 3 consecutive plays (game ended with a pass knockdown with no seconds on the clock after a 4 year drought of no championships…the last time we won was back in 2013 (and we lost 2 other championships in the process).

As Jim Harbaugh said, (or someone else did) ‘there’s nothing like shared success’ and this applies to not only the Eagles per se… But Paul Domowitch getting DAWK in the hall, Tommy writing every week since I ever know… ACVIKING getting through history, D3FB guiding us with his game knowledge, ATG making me laugh, Xenyon with his great writing and anyone else I missed out I’m sorry but we all deserve this! World champions. E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES

If his dream is to start, he can have that elsewhere.

  80. 80 Benny6968 said at 1:11 AM on February 5th, 2018:

    Nick should stay here.
He knows there is a certain chemistry between him and our coaches and nobody else could get that kind of production out of him.
However, if some crazy team like Minnesota gets desperate and throws us a 1st rounder, you never know.
Lightning can strike twice but short of that I say keep him.
Knowing the type of guy Foles is, you would think that he wants to be an Eagle for life and he deserves that honor after this amazing run.

  81. 81 anon said at 2:52 AM on February 5th, 2018:

  82. 82 RobNE said at 11:04 PM on February 4th, 2018:

So glad I came down. Waited my whole life. They outscored the Pats in the SB. My 6 hour drive back tomorrow will be so easy. The pass to Foles was such a F U to the Pats on 4th down. It was a two hand middle finger salute.

  83. 83 xeynon said at 11:05 PM on February 4th, 2018:

    My reply:

“I don’t usually get to say this as an Eagles fan, but YOUR TEARS ARE DELICIOUS!!!! GISELLE’S TEARS ARE DELICIOUS!!!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!”

Let’s go out on a limb here. Let’s discuss the quarterback situation. The common thought here is what can we get for Foles? Or We need to keep Foles in case Carson isn’t ready come fall. So thinking outside that and being crazy, Foles is a Superbowl MVP. He just killed it. How much can we trade him for or is it how much can we trade Carson for?

Dare I say we keep out Superbowl MVP and trade Carson for 3 or 4 firsts?

Foles has pretty minimal trade value. Couple day 3 picks, maybe a late 3 max. You don’t trade Wentz for anything in the world.

You do whatever Foles wants. If he wants to go get paid then thank you we’ll always love you, work with us to find a team. If he wants to stay, ok.

  304. 304 fran35 said at 1:13 AM on February 5th, 2018:

But here’s the thing–his performance these last few games was not an aberration. Is he as good as Wentz, hell no . Is he a starter in the NFL? I don’t see how folks can argue against it. His numbers for his career: 61 tds, 29 int . Breaks single game td passes record. Pro bowl starter .pro bowl mvp .super bowl starter, super bowl mvp. He had one year in St Louis where every QB on the team looked terrible . Then the head coach leaves and all three QBs are studs for their respective playoff teams .

I really don’t know when folks are going to stop trying to mitigate Foles successes. He makes big boy throws and reads .will he ever beat Wentz out? Nope. But the eagles could get a 2d rounder for him.

  305. 305 Masked Man said at 12:40 AM on February 5th, 2018:

Who could ask for anything more?

  308. 308 Dude said at 12:43 AM on February 5th, 2018:

I rarely disagree with you, but 1 of 32 teams is going to offer something good for Foles. Howie has the luxury or waiting to see how Carson looks in April, June, September… and how the the rest of the roster shakes out, before he has to pull the trigger on a Foles deal.

As I see it, the moment Wentz is good to go, Craigslist will look like : FOR SALE- 1 QB, used, has Super Bowl MVP experience, 2nd rounder (the real value over salary round), OBO. Young talent also accepted.

    E: 1 of 31. Oops

  309. 309 D3FB said at 12:47 AM on February 5th, 2018:

For Sale: Do you want to get fired? Are you willing to destroy your franchise giving up draft assets and an extension for a high variance QB? Have you been drinking? You know Joe Flacco won a SB MVP too right?

  310. 310 xeynon said at 12:49 AM on February 5th, 2018:

Counterpoint: a team gave Flacco a massive QB deal for winning that MVP.

Quarterbacks are at a premium. A guy who’s proven he can play at an elite level in the playoffs given the right circumstances, which at this point Foles has, is going to have value.

  311. 311 D3FB said at 12:53 AM on February 5th, 2018:

Foles has a larger body of work. This is recency bias. A month ago therre were legitimate questions on should the Eagles maybe move to Sudfeld if Foles struggled in the first half of the Falcons game. Two great games don’t erase that.

You can’t seriously tell me that if you were a another teams fan you would be jumping up and down screaming for the GM to trade a first and give Foles $100mil

  312. 312 Someguy77 said at 12:58 AM on February 5th, 2018:

No way. Only the loons thought starting Sudfeld or putting him in at half in a playoff game was a realistic solution.

  313. 313 xeynon said at 1:02 AM on February 5th, 2018:

I don’t think the “they should go to Sudfeld” talk was as legitimate as you’re implying. Pederson looked at the reporter who asked that question like he had two heads. I think that was more a discussion among fans/media than something the coaches considered.

I agree that two great postseason games doesn’t make Foles an elite QB, but I think he’s shown throughout his career that when you put him in an offense that plays to his strengths and gives him playmakers, he can produce at a high level. That’s more than you can say for a lot of starting QBs in this league.

I also think there is a significantly higher number of dumb/desperate front offices and fan bases in the NFL than you seem to believe. We just saw the Redskins fork over one of their better young defenders and a 3rd round pick to make a lateral move to an older version of the same guy they already had at QB for chrissake.

  314. 314 D3FB said at 1:08 AM on February 5th, 2018:

    So he’s Sam Bradford.

Alex Smith is a better QB than Nick Foles.

Foles almost quit football a year ago.

Look it’s been magical and amazing, but its a saturated market and I don’t buy that anyone is getting in a bidding war to make him their franchise.

  315. 315 xeynon said at 1:13 AM on February 5th, 2018:

I think Bradford is a reasonable comp, but the Eagles got a first round pick for Bradford.

I also would take Alex Smith over Foles.

I’m not saying Foles SHOULD fetch a high price – as much success as he’s had, he’s shown that he’s a guy that needs the right support structure to succeed and is not a “carry the team” type of player the way Wentz can be. I agree with you that it’s crazy talk to entertain the idea of trading Wentz and riding with Foles. There is a big talent gap there. But given how desperate for good QB play this league is, I think Foles COULD fetch a high price.

  316. 316 Dude said at 1:14 AM on February 5th, 2018:

It’s not a saturated market until there are 33 starter-level QBs evenly distributed across 32 NFL teams. Barring that, there are the haves and have-nots. And even the “haves” aren’t set in stone (Washington).

  317. 317 D3FB said at 1:23 AM on February 5th, 2018:

There are an abundance of veteran options on the market. There is also the draft.

    Compare to normal years.

    Relatively saturated.

  318. 318 Dude said at 1:07 AM on February 5th, 2018:

You’re 100% right, but it only takes one team. I could see Jacksonville grasping at that final piece (If Tom Coughlin feels pressure). Also the Browns now that Sashi Brown is gone. KC could put together a sweetheart Pederson/Daniel deal. Just saying, there are so many feasible outcomes that someone (Jets, NYG, Denver if they lose the Cousins raffle) will pay over market value for Foles. And Howie will let Pony Nick run free if Wentz is ready and Sudfeld/whoever looks competent… or some similar situation.

It sounds dumb to an analytical mind, but those are rare in the NFL. That’s why Doug’s 4th down policy is revolutionary rather than standard.

  319. 319 Chris Lindeman said at 12:44 AM on February 5th, 2018:

What if Cleveland comes along and says we’ll give you our next 5 firsts or every pick we have in this draft? Got to admit, it’s food for thought. We do have a Superbowl MVP QB and 20 of 22 starters signed for next year…you can’t tell me it’s not worth pausing to think about.

  320. 320 D3FB said at 12:50 AM on February 5th, 2018:

You tell Cleveland to go fuck themselves.

It’s actually not worth thinking about.

The argument is making is literally the one the Browns have made to justify passing on Wentz and Watson.

You have a young franchise QB who is going to be a top 5 QB for a decade. You don’t trade him because your backup just had two great playoff games.

Also the last 4 of those picks are going to be late first rounders.

  321. 321 ChoTime said at 12:52 AM on February 5th, 2018:

Notice that Foles has performed as well as Wentz would have (most likely). Notice that the team kept winning even when Wentz went down.

It’s far from obvious Cleveland would be any improved with Wentz on their roster. They’re just a wreck, and no one player can solve that. A coach and GM with time and luck, maybe.

  322. 322 D3FB said at 12:55 AM on February 5th, 2018:

You honest to god really want to argue that Foles is just as good as Wentz?

    Seriously?

I’m going to leave it there, let you reevaluate that statement in the cold light of day.

  323. 323 ChoTime said at 1:00 AM on February 5th, 2018:

Read my post again, it’s only 11 PM here. I’m still coherent.

Are you implying that the Eagles would have hung more points on the Patriots and the Vikings with Wentz? I find that highly unlikely.

Wentz is a great player, but this is a team sport, and I would hope the playoffs would have just proved that to you. He would not be the savior in Cleveland, there’s more to the game than that.

  324. 324 Dude said at 1:19 AM on February 5th, 2018:

In this game it would have come down to style points Re: Foles v Wentz. Hard to perform better than tonight.

  325. 325 xeynon said at 12:45 AM on February 5th, 2018:

We can’t trade him against his will, even for a slightly higher pick – if we move him, it has to be to a team that he wants to go to. He just won us the Super Bowl.

Agree, Foles at least deserves to be involved in any decision. However, if he believes he wants to be a starting QB again, he might have to be more flexible.

  327. 327 Sean E said at 12:54 AM on February 5th, 2018:

Foles will have trade value. I think your Foles judgment is off.

  328. 328 Bert's Bells said at 12:31 AM on February 5th, 2018:

There will be at least two team to look at Foles’ playoff performances and say “he’s our guy”.

Last week I thought he’d max out at 3rd rounder, but now -he’s likely a 1st rounder plus.

  329. 329 ChoTime said at 12:35 AM on February 5th, 2018:

Yeah, no. I’m a big Foles fan, but Wentz is probably a top 5 QB in the league for the next decade. As great as Foles has shown himself to be in the right situation, I’m just not buying him performing at a high level consistently. I would listen to offers for Foles, but keep him unless you get a very nice haul. Backup QBs have value in this league.

  330. 330 Masked Man said at 12:36 AM on February 5th, 2018:

I think it’s up to Nick. He’s the only Eagles QB to win the Super Bowl. He is the Super Bowl MVP. He came through for us.

If I was Howie, I would not trade him against his will. That might be a bad look for the team.

But if Nick wants to start next year, it’s going to be hard to beat Carson out. Wentz is more talented.

If Nick wants to start and consents to a trade, he’s worth a lot in a trade right now. Howie can make that happen.

But if Nick wants to be an Eagle and be a reserve, he’s our hero forever anyway, and the city will love him forever. Depends on what he wants.

    Go Eagles!

  331. 331 Philadelphian said at 1:19 AM on February 5th, 2018:

The fact that Donnie Jones had the only punt of the game speaks volumes about the team mentality, and why the Eagles were superior to the selfish Pats who didn’t let everyone get in on the action. Jones is as much a part of this win as everyone else.

    You forgot Derek Barnett. 🙂

You definitely have to hit on first round picks, but we also got huge contributions from low round picks and undrafted guys – we don’t win this SB without Clement, Vaitai, Burton, Allen, or Mills (just to name 5 guys who made critical contributions to our team’s success over the course of this postseason run).
