Roster Moves: #Eagles have signed K Jake Elliott and LS Rick Lovato to one-year contracts through 2019.#FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/T7AzFmClBv

Elliott and Lovato are terrific STers. Both are young and remain cheap for now.
It is interesting that both came out of nowhere, to a certain extent. Lovato replaced Jon Dorenbos. At the time, Lovato had 7 games under his belt. The Eagles thought he was ready to be their regular snapper and took a chance on him. So far, so good. We all miss the fun that Dorenbos brought to the team, but Lovato has more than filled his shoes on Sundays.
Elliott was signed off the Bengals practice squad when the Eagles were desperate due to injury. That turned out to be a lucky break. Elliott has been great since coming over. He has the potential to some day go down as the best kicker in team history. That will take quite a while, but he’s off to a strong start.

Eagles received a 4th-round compensatory pick and a 6th-round compensatory pick — No. 138 and No. 238, respectively.

This is disappointing. The Eagles were really hoping to get another 6th round pick.
So what happened?
Apparently the NFL counted Mike Wallace in the formula, so he canceled out either Beau Allen or Patrick Robinson. It was not expected that Wallace wound count. https://t.co/yX8QOu23VX

Howie Roseman was trying to take advantage of a loophole and it looks like the NFL didn’t let him do that.
The #Eagles were awarded two compensatory picks in the 2019 #NFLDraft, bringing the total number of selections to eight.#FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/lL4zjvJ07W

The Eagles have 8 picks, including a pair in both the 2nd and 4th rounds. This is good draft ammunition, especially considering recent years when the Eagles were usually short of picks.
It would be an even better situation if the Eagles could trade Nick Foles, but it feels less likely that is going to happen as time goes by. There just doesn’t seem to be much of a market. That makes negotiating a trade all the more difficult.

Source: the Eagles have released veteran DB Chris Maragos. He was once a standout special teamer for Philly.

Not a shocker.
Maragos got hurt in mid-2017 and hasn’t gotten back on the field yet. There were some complications in his rehab. We’ll have to wait and see if he tries to play again or decides to hang up his cleats.
Maragos was a good STer and terrific leader. There is always room for someone like that on a roster. At the same time, Maragos is older and has limited value as a defender. I would guess that he will be retiring.
