NFL Draft – 2nd Round Preview

Posted: April 27th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 210 Comments »

The Eagles added a key piece on Thursday when they acquired DT Fletcher Cox. He was need, value, and great talent. That is an ideal draft pick.

So what does the team need to do heading into the 2nd and 3rd rounds? There are specific areas I’d like to see the team address, but remember that the focus should be on players, not positions. Luckily, it appears that the Eagles will have the right positions/players to choose from.

Before we get to that area…is there anyone on the board that the team should trade up for? There are 2 guys of interest.

TE Coby Fleener – Stanford – 6-6, 247 – The Eagles are running more 2-TE sets than ever. That means the team needs 3 TEs. Fleener is the top TE in the draft. He would help the Eagles as a TE and as a Red Zone threat. He also has the speed to get vertical. The Eagles love to throw corner routes to TEs. Fleener would excel at this. He could be the first pick off the board or slide down 10 spots. My guess is that Howie doesn’t make a move unless Fleener falls far enough that a 5th round pick will move us in position to get him.

CB Janoris Jenkins – N. Alabama – 5-9, 193 – What? Lawlor, I thought you said you didn’t want this guy! I don’t. The Eagles might feel different. They also rejected my idea of playing Jan Hammer at The Linc and serving Funyuns at all Eagles related events. Jerks! Jenkins is a special player on the field. He would be an ideal fit for the Eagles. Jenkins would be the slot corner right away. He could play outside if needed. He could help as a PR and maybe gunner on STs. As with Fleener, I don’t think Howie will make a move unless Jenkins gets close and the cost is right.

Who are the Eagles 5 likely targets? Since the Eagles have picks 46 and 51, I will list 7 guys, plus the two above since it is possible they could slide to 46.

Key 2nd Round targets

CB Janoris Jenkins
TE Coby Fleener

CB Brandon Boykin – Georgia
CB Josh Robinson – UCF
LB Bobby Wagner – Utah State
LB Lavonte David – Nebraska
TE Dwayne Allen – Clemson
OL Jeff Allen – Illinois

Boykin was a slot corner for Georgia in 2011 and has outside experience as well. He is an explosive athlete that played on STs and offense as well. Great RS.

Robinson may or may not be a slot guy. I’m guessing here. Had arguably the best Combine showing of anyone in the draft. 5-10, 199 and very athletic. Also has RS ability.

Wagner would be a SAM target. Only thing keeping him from being picked higher than the mid-2nd is lacking ideal height. He’s only 6-0. Could play MLB or SAM. Gifted athlete and also Senior Bowl MVP.

David is a really good football player that may be long gone at 46. Problem is that he’s 228 pounds and that lowers his value. I’m not 100 percent sure he’s an Eagles target at SAM. I think he could be so he’s listed. Real good tackler, player. Only question is his size vs OL.

Dwayne Allen is the #2 TE in the class and could be of interest if the Eagles miss on Fleener, but feel it is crucial to add a really good TE prospect. Allen lacks ideal speed, but is a very good receiver and solid athlete.

Jeff Allen played RT and LT at Illinois. He could help at OT and OG here. There could be a run on OL, but if he is on the board the Eagles might be interested. He did visit the NovaCare.

I think it is possible that we could move down from pick 51 if the right offer is made. I’m sure Howie would love to get back the 4th Rder he gave up in the Cox deal. I think the Eagles will spend 46 on a good player. This is a really good group of 2nd/3rd Rd’ers.

The Eagles could throw me a curveball and go for a QB. I sure hope they don’t, but they don’t always listen. Kirk Cousins is still on the board and they’ve expressed interest in him.

One player the Eagles showed serious interest in is DE Vinny Curry. He could go early or slide down to the bottom of the 2nd round. I won’t be mad if they take Curry, but the DL is really stacked right now and acquiring him would mean the team had to trade or cut Darryl Tapp or Phillip Hunt. Curry is really good, but is he worth that?

WR is also possible if the right guy is on the board. I think the team will focus on CB/SAM, but you don’t want to pass on a really talented player, especially if the WR has RS ability.

I didn’t cover CB Trumaine Johnson. Not sure what to make of him. The Eagles showed interest, but I don’t know if he can play in the slot. Johnson is a bit stiff. He could use size/strength to bully WRs, but I don’t know that he’s an actual target.

The Eagles could take him as a Safety. This is a poor group of Safeties. A couple of people are convinced the Eagles really like Mark Barron. I cannot confirm that. Don’t know if Safety is in play early or not.

* * * * *

I’ll post a preview of the 3rd round after we make pick 51 and I have an idea of what could happen.

* * * * *

Colt McCoy? I’m interested. He has shown that he can start and win. I don’t think of him as a long term starter, but I’d feel comfortable with him taking over for 2 games when the team is 14-0 and Vick wants to rest.

I was a big fan of McCoy’s when he came out. Love his intangibles and toughness. He struggled in CLE last year, but had poor protection and no weapons. Life in Philly would be different.

I would not give up much to get him. He looks like an upgrade on Mike Kafka, but not a significant upgrade. Really, Kafka is unknown. He could make huge strides this year and show himself to be a potential starter down the road or flame out and struggle big time.

If Colt is available for a 6th round pick, I do it. Don’t know that I’d give up more. I do like him better than the other QB prospects available.

    $$$ IGGLES BLITZ CHALLENGE $$$
    NEED 15 BRAVE SOLDIERS…

    Friends,

As we careen towards the NFL draft and the real beginning of the 2012 season I’d like to remind everyone of all the hard work Tommy and Sam do to bring us the most entertaining and most educational forum for Eagles-based discussion on the Internet. It takes a lot of hard work and time to generate fresh content, respond to comments, and maintain this space so I’d like to ask everyone to take a little of your own time and consider making a donation in any amount to Iggles Blitz.

For me, reading and participating on this site is worth at least $1 a day (the price of a stale bag of Funyuns), so I’m issuing a challenge: If we can get just 15 donations before the end of the draft I will happily donate $366 to Iggles Blitz (thanks a lot, leap year). That’s money that can be used for precious resources like acquiring and maintaining a tape library, any licensing and legal fees, and of course, refilling the water cooler with life-sustaining PBR.

Please give any amount you feel comfortable with:

    – $12 is $1 per month and can buy approximately 400 boxes of pudding
    – $25 is roughly $.50 a week, and can furnish the library with the complete set of 1980’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Editions
    – $50 is roughly $.14 a day, enough to enroll the entire secondary in tackling class

While your pledge won’t get you a handsome “Iggles Blitz” tote bag, an emergency radio, or season 2 of Downton Abbey on Blu-Ray, it will earn you the respect of every reader here and the self-satisfaction of sustaining this amazing website.

Where else on the web can you read a detailed analysis after every game including the final pre-season game? Where else can you get “on the ground” reports from the Senior Bowl? Where else can you pretend you’re an NFL GM and demand a scouting report on Miles Burris for three days and then actually get one free of charge?

On the right hand side of the page is a “DONATE” button. Please consider giving a few dollars to a resource I know you all enjoy as much as I do. No need to post how much you gave, and if you’re unable please steer others to this challenge.

NOTE: Tommy and Sam have not solicited this challenge in any way, shape or form and will undoubtedly shy away from it. Besides, they should be busy preparing for the apocalypse when we trade up in the first round to select Vontaze Burfict.

Another European donation. The amount of work Tommy puts into this site is amazing.

This site offers the best way to be an Eagles-fan and learn the finesses of the game, so unknown in the Netherlands.

  14. 14 Bradley Abraham said at 6:37 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I’d love a slot CB and a SAM in the second round but if a better player slides, then I’d prefer to stick to the the BPA policy and look to the 3rd/trade up instead.

Dont forget, Westy will be presenting the picks for us tonight. Will be fun.

  16. 16 Vini Gonçalves said at 6:37 PM on April 27th, 2012:

If we do the things right, this can be one of the best drafts ever!

  17. 17 nicolajNN said at 6:42 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I’m hoping for Boykins but I have one question, in the nfl is he strictly a slot corner or does he have the speed to play outside as well?

Also I don’t think I could help but be excited by taking Jenkins, just because of the potential, but of course there’s a huge risk

  18. 18 GeorgeFleep said at 6:54 PM on April 27th, 2012:

boykin has speed to play outside.doubt eagles take him at 46 maybe 51

  19. 19 Baloophi said at 6:46 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    RE: Colt

Love the idea of coughing up a 6th for him… though that would ruin the plan of drafting Kellen Moore as a coaching intern…

  20. 20 GeorgeFleep said at 6:48 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I would easily take curry over tapp. I hate tapp. had good numbers but never really seemed good to my blind untrained stupid eye. I love making a point then criticizing the way i made that point.

  21. 21 Baloophi said at 7:00 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I once saw a curry tap in an Indian restaurant.

  22. 22 GeorgeFleep said at 9:28 AM on April 28th, 2012:

the curry was probably the best part

  23. 23 Alex Karklins said at 6:50 PM on April 27th, 2012:

My prediction: Trumaine Johnson (as a safety), and Boykin (slot corner) in the second round. Bobby Wagner in the third. By writing this, I have guaranteed it will not happen that way.

  24. 24 TommyLawlor said at 7:13 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Drafting Trumaine? Trying to have Montana take over the Eagles one player at a time? Use the 7th on Caleb McSurdy no doubt.

  25. 25 Alex Karklins said at 7:22 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Go Griz! My prediction is based mostly on school loyalty, and the fact that DBs from Montana do well here.

  26. 26 Kammich said at 6:57 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I’m intrigued by the potential of adding a Stephen Hill or Coby Fleener just to bolster our firepower, but I think they’ll both be gone by that point. I’d love to get any combo of Boykin, Wagner, Curry or Hosley(unless Hosley has been taken entirely off of the Eagles board).

  27. 27 TommyLawlor said at 7:02 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Assuming Fleener is gone…

my ideal scenario is Boykin and Wagner. If Fleener falls…can’t pass on him.

  28. 28 Dewey said at 7:06 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Fleener going 2nd in round 2. I think.

  29. 29 Eric Weaver said at 7:06 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I don’t see him dropping passed all the rams picks.

  30. 30 Dewey said at 7:04 PM on April 27th, 2012:

WR going first. B. Quick. More WRs and OL going, better the DB who falls for the birds.

  31. 31 Arby1 said at 11:36 PM on April 27th, 2012:

couple of good calls there! any stocks to recommend?

  32. 32 aub32 said at 7:04 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Tommy

Although I would like to see us get Jenkins or Wagner I don’t know the me thinking position or player. What WR could/would the eagles possibly go for in the 2nd and is there a receiver you would take at 46 or move up for?

  33. 33 TommyLawlor said at 7:14 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Mohamed Sanu is the WR I like most for us. Big, but can play the slot. Helps in 2 areas.

Alshon Jeffrey would be huge risk, but if he pans out…could be big time help. I’m not a fan, but Andy has liked big WRs in the past.

  34. 34 aub32 said at 7:22 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Mayock has Sanu as his 7th or 8th WR left available. Any chance we can get him in the 3rd. Also how do you feel about Joe Adams in the 3rd. Don’t know much about him but I hear he’s fast, can play the slot, and was a beast at the senior bowl

  35. 35 R G said at 7:35 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Hated Jeffery as a 1st, love him as our 2nd 2nd round pick. He would be a matchup nightmare if he could play the slot or line up at TE occasionally.

Gotta have Boykin as our DB. Guy is a stud.

  36. 36 Patrick Clausen said at 7:05 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Tommy, what happens if the workout warrior Stephen Hill slides? We interested? Im getting the feeling that teams are a little scared of him, maybe because of the lack of numbers.

  37. 37 TommyLawlor said at 7:15 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Eagles brought him to Philly. I’m sure they are interested. Doubt he gets to 46. If so, would be tempting.

  38. 38 nicolajNN said at 7:07 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Okay one more question from a draft idiot. How does Fleener and Dwayne Allen compare to Hernandez, Jimmy Graham and Vernon Davis as dynamic playmakers?

  39. 39 Dewey said at 7:08 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Not nearly as dynamic or imposing to the rival defense.

  40. 40 TommyLawlor said at 7:16 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Fleener has special potential. Averaged almost 20 yards per catch in 2011. That’s deep speed for a TE. Big time RZ threat.

Allen is not nearly that kind of a playmaker. Good TE who can play the slot, but he’s not special.

  41. 41 Dewey said at 7:10 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Branch or Upshaw to Ravens. DBs still falling for Eagles.

  42. 42 Eric Weaver said at 7:13 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Or konz

  43. 43 TommyLawlor said at 7:16 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Good start.

  44. 44 nopain23 said at 7:15 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Wagner or David? Oh and if you can get Dawkins to mentor jenkins ala..herm and Vick..then I say pull the trigger

  45. 45 Dewey said at 7:16 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    No LBs. Makes no sense.

  46. 46 nopain23 said at 7:23 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Who plays SAM then?

  47. 47 Dewey said at 7:30 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Who cares? Defense is all DL and DBs.

If the Eagles were to take Curry, what do you think they’d get in a trade for Tapp? Could they use him to get back into the 4th by tomorrow?

  51. 51 Dewey said at 7:20 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Wolfe gone. Maybe Branch next?

  52. 52 Eric Weaver said at 7:21 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Wolfe to broncos?

  53. 53 Nick said at 7:22 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Tommy, I’d love it if the Eagles traded for McCoy — full disclosure, I’m a UT alum and can attest to his leadership skills/intangibles after watching him for years — but I think there’s zero chance of it happening for a reason you mentioned in an earlier post. Given how close Reid and Holmgren are, I have to think Reid has the inside scoop on McCoy, and if his mentor gave up on him, I don’t think Reid will touch him.

  54. 54 Alex Karklins said at 7:23 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Wow, was that a reach for Denver, or what? I like Wolfe, but they could have gotten him later, right?

  55. 55 Dewey said at 7:26 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I think Schwartz to Cleveland’s an even bigger reach, but I know nothing.

  56. 56 Eric Weaver said at 7:27 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Yep.

  57. 57 Alex Karklins said at 7:33 PM on April 27th, 2012:

True, but the Schwartz pick hadn’t happened when I wrote my first comment!

  58. 58 Dewey said at 7:29 PM on April 27th, 2012:

There goes Janoris Jenkins to Rams.

Silatulo to Carolina. They continue to help out the Eagles.

  62. 62 Dewey said at 7:37 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Cordy Glenn to Buff. Good pick for them. DBs continue to fall.

  63. 63 Dewey said at 7:39 PM on April 27th, 2012:

And now Martin to Miami. It’s an OT run!

  64. 64 deg0ey said at 7:38 PM on April 27th, 2012:

No worries. We’ll trade them Chad Hall.

  76. 76 deg0ey said at 7:49 PM on April 27th, 2012:

  77. 77 TommyLawlor said at 7:54 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Ha! That would be funny if Tannehill did start out at WR.

  78. 78 Dewey said at 7:49 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Another OT! Chiefs get Jeff Allen.

  79. 79 Dewey said at 7:50 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    please Igg’s take Lavonte

  89. 89 Christopher Burak said at 7:58 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    trade back now.

  90. 90 Dewey said at 7:59 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Kendricks?!!?!?!? Tommy? Who the hell is he?

  91. 91 phillychuck said at 8:05 PM on April 27th, 2012:

They love him at ESPN. Called it a great pick. Guy ran a 4.4 at the combine!!! Tiny, though, and they picked him ahead of the LBs Tommy liked.

  92. 92 Eric Weaver said at 7:59 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Kendricks.

  93. 93 deshawnbentley said at 8:02 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Wow great athleticism in Kendricks! Can fill in for Ryans after 2 years

  94. 94 Toby_yboT said at 8:03 PM on April 27th, 2012:

There’s our annual reach that pisses people off : D

    I love the draft.

  95. 95 nickross23 said at 8:03 PM on April 27th, 2012:

B West looks like he can still play.. So those are two very good pics so far but where does he play at 5’11

  96. 96 Baloophi said at 8:03 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Kendricks – almost identical combine numbers to Kuechly, if I recall…

  97. 97 deshawnbentley said at 8:04 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Actually better numbers for the most part.

  98. 98 JJ_Cake said at 8:04 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I like this pick a lot! Not missing LK at all. Cox and Kendrick’s, dang fine drafting so far.

  99. 99 Patrick Clausen said at 8:06 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Kendricks can’t play SAM. Im sure he is a good player, but i see him as a MLB. Maybe he is here to challenge Rolle, but I’m not really satisfied. Now give me Boykin or Hosley for the slot.

  100. 100 Baloophi said at 8:04 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Also, about a month ago we would’ve flipped our lid for Cox/Kendricks… in fact, I remember many a debate over whether you’d want Kuechly/Worthy or Cox/Kendricks.

  101. 101 JJ_Cake said at 8:15 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Glad you have a good memory, you are correct sir! Tommy had Nothing against Kendrick’s and called him the 2nd best MLB in the 4-3 after LK. Great pick, bet Seattle was pissed. I am hoping for Curry, Boykin, or Sanu next.

  102. 102 PK_NZ said at 8:05 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Kendricks out of all those possible LBs? I’m sure there’s a reason they like him over everyone else…

  103. 103 phillychuck said at 8:08 PM on April 27th, 2012:

They love speed. He has 4.4 speed, and it shows on tape in games.

  104. 104 phillychuck said at 8:11 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    I really want Boykins next…

  105. 105 Christopher Miller said at 8:05 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Would have preferred David, but I am happy we invested a high pick for LB at least

  106. 106 nickross23 said at 8:05 PM on April 27th, 2012:

So now you project Rolle at 5’9 and Kendricks at 5’11. I know Rolle can play at this level and Kendricks is a very good prospect I guess what im thinking is can these guys hold up threw a whole 16?

  107. 107 nopain23 said at 8:06 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Thank you..Howie!!!!….thought they were going to blow the pick on a QB….Boykins next and this is an A++++++ draft

  108. 108 phillychuck said at 8:06 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Speed kills. Guy is fast, and it shows on tape in games.

  109. 109 deshawnbentley said at 8:07 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Caldwell worked with JMJ Wagner and David and still felt Kendricks should be the pick. I trust him on this. Plus, it’s not like Kendricks is trash. He was very productive and has great measurables aside from height.

  110. 110 deshawnbentley said at 8:08 PM on April 27th, 2012:

& Both Gruden and Polian loved the pick for the Eagles. Lets not overreact because everyone was so fixated on David.

  111. 111 deshawnbentley said at 8:09 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Patriots felt really good about this draft, interesting.

  112. 112 TommyLawlor said at 8:09 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I love Mychal Kendricks as a player. Problem is that he’s only 5-11. Can’t recall a SAM LB being that short. Reportedly Spadaro said he will compete at SAM. Can take over at MLB in the future or could be WLB. Real good player. Just a bit of an odd fit.

  113. 113 nickross23 said at 8:27 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Compete compete compete.. We have a ton of guys trying to fill two spots it can only be a good thing

  114. 114 MikeyCervantes said at 8:10 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Bill polian just said he was the best attacking 4-3 LB in the draft besides keuchly… that makes me feel a little better. At first glance it seems like a typical eagles pick when theres tons of well known players still left on the board and they pick someone out of left field

  115. 115 SportiVore said at 8:10 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Kendricks is a great pick. Just a football player. If he was 2 inches taller, he’d be in the 1st.

Tommy mentioned repeatedly that Luke would make sense because of the way we play our LBs and he could play SAM. I see Kendricks the same.

  116. 116 TommyLawlor said at 8:10 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I’m hearing some weird things about pick 51. Could be a major surprise. Not QB.

  117. 117 SportiVore said at 8:11 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    RB?

  118. 118 deg0ey said at 8:22 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Not a bad call – I’m guessing they were after Pead and when STL took him they decided to drop back

  119. 119 deshawnbentley said at 8:13 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Mo Sanu?! Lamar Miller?!

  120. 120 nicolajNN said at 8:14 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Punter?

  121. 121 nicolajNN said at 8:10 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    FWIW, Cosell on Kendricks:
“Love Eagles pick of Kendricks. Clearly philosophy change re: LB with signing of Ryans + drafting of Kendricks. Fast + physical, + can blitz.”
    and
“Still can’t get over Kendicks pick. Best 4-3 LB in draft after Kuechly. As I said, an excellent blitzer. Great sidline-to-sideline range.”

  122. 122 deshawnbentley said at 8:14 PM on April 27th, 2012:

If Boykins is the pick at 51 our defense is going to be stacked. I mean STACKED >:O

  123. 123 MikeyCervantes said at 8:17 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Yeah i def will be dispointed if boykin is there and we pass on him AR loves players under 6′ for some reason

  124. 124 Dewey said at 8:16 PM on April 27th, 2012:

LOVE the Patriots stumping both Greg Cosell and Mel Kiper with their pick.

  125. 125 Dewey said at 8:17 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    We traded back! With GB.

  126. 126 Brian Winings said at 8:18 PM on April 27th, 2012:

How often do the Eagles ever blitz an OLB anyway?? Are they gonna change the scheme around for him?

  127. 127 Westport_Johnny said at 8:19 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Not on the clock- trade #51?

  128. 128 ian_no_2 said at 8:20 PM on April 27th, 2012:

“Eagles send No. 51 to Green Bay for No. 59 and No. 123. ”

They definitely won on draft board points. The problem is that there were compelling guys on the board at 51. Depends as always who’s still there at 59 and who they take at 123

  129. 129 nickross23 said at 8:21 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Got a 4th rounder to move back 8 spots hmmm whats the play here

  130. 130 Patrick Clausen said at 8:23 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I can only imagine CB. Hosley, Boykin, Trumaine Johnson and Josh Robinson can all play slot. Move back, one of them will be there, since both Worthy and Still are becoming huge steals now. Saw both guys in the first round at some point.

  131. 131 deg0ey said at 8:24 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I’m guessing there are 4 or 5 guys on the board that they like and they figure that they don’t all go with those 8 picks so they may as well drop back and add a 4th?

  132. 132 TommyLawlor said at 8:23 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Great move. Slide back 8 spots and add a 4th. Very well done.

Hearing we might go for a … DT. Not sure if it is because of value (Worthy, Still, etc) or if something is up. Working hard to verify.

  133. 133 deshawnbentley said at 8:24 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Worthy just taken,
But great move adding a 4th

  134. 134 deg0ey said at 8:25 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Maybe they traded Cox already :p

  135. 135 Eric Weaver said at 8:29 PM on April 27th, 2012:

  136. 136 nickross23 said at 8:31 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I love it.. Pimpin this draft so far so good.. Get the best guy on the board baby so sick of head scratching reaches

  137. 137 Brian Winings said at 8:32 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Oh man I will be so confused if that happens.

  138. 138 ian_no_2 said at 8:43 PM on April 27th, 2012:

if they want DT Worthy’s the guy tho. This makes sense if they like someone like Boykin

  139. 139 David Becroft said at 8:26 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Enjoying the coverage and not that its much but hey here is a lil more the iggles blitz guys way. Lets hope for some more good eagles today and tomorrow

  140. 140 Dewey said at 8:28 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    Was that English?

  141. 141 deshawnbentley said at 8:27 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I’d be happy with either Boykin or Curry at 59

  142. 142 DamonL86 said at 8:28 PM on April 27th, 2012:

How is Curry still out there?

  143. 143 deg0ey said at 8:36 PM on April 27th, 2012:

I think he’ll go to DET or ATL…

  144. 144 Baloophi said at 8:29 PM on April 27th, 2012:

    My mini-board…

    Vinny Curry – DE
    Brandon Boykin – CB
    Dwayne Allen – TE
    Mohamed Sanu – WR
Kirk Cousins (IF he drops to late 2nd) – QB
    Jared Crick – DE
    Casey Hayward – CB
    LaMichael James – RB
    Jayron Hosley – CB
    Greg Childs – WR

  145. 145 deg0ey said at 8:37 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Looks about right – Curry or Boykin would be ideal at 59; hope they both last

  146. 146 Baloophi said at 8:42 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Can we take them both if Boykin sits on top of Curry’s shoulders?

  147. 147 Eric Weaver said at 8:29 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Eagles probably wanted that 4th to help them move around in the 2nd/3rd.

  180. 180 TommyLawlor said at 8:58 PM on April 27th, 2012:

Eagles get DE Vinny Curry. Great value. Heckuva player. Had a really good season. Then went to the Senior Bowl and looked great. Thing to love is that he’s not just a speed rusher. Curry has violent hands and does a good job of physically defeating blockers. Has the potential to play DT in passing situations. Had 7 FFs this year. Love pass rushers that knock the ball loose.

Just caught Andy’s presser on PE.com and he was saying that Kendricks plays bigger than his size would suggest, that he’s quick enough to cover RBs and TEs and as far as the Eagles are concerned is an ideal SAM.

Looks like he was the target all along.
