Day 3
Posted: May 2nd, 2015 | Author: Tommy Lawlor | Filed under: Philadelphia Eagles | 634 Comments »The Eagles have had a good draft so far.
1 – WR Nelson Agholor – USC
2 – CB Eric Rowe – Utah
3 – ILB Jordan Hicks – Texas
Today the Eagles have 4 picks.
4th Rd
6th Rd
6th Rd
7th Rd
That’s not ideal. Using both 5th rounders yesterday hurts. To me, there is a big cut-off from the 5th to the 6th round in most drafts. I expect 5th round picks to make the roster. 6th and 7th round picks I hope make the roster, but can live with them as practice squad players to develop.
The Eagles need OL help and a Safety. They’ll have a tough choice to make today. Do they grab OL T.J. Clemmings if he is still on the board? He has a stress fracture in his foot that is obviously scaring teams away. The 4th round might be a good spot for risk/reward.
The Eagles also think highly of Penn State DB Adrian Amos. While he’s not my cup of tea, Amos has great measurables and fits the Eagles scheme. He is solid value at this point so I could live with that pick.
My favorite OG in the draft is still on the board. I had Mark Glowinski pegged as probably a 5th round pick, but taking him in the mid-4th would be just fine with me. I think he’s an ideal fit for the Eagles. I was happy today to learn that the Eagles have shown interest in him.
There are still some interesting OL on the board. The Eagles went to Oklahoma to check out Williams, Shead and Thompson. None of those guys are good athletes. I struggle to see them in the Eagles offense. I don’t like the FSU star Jackson. I think his teammate Matias is actually the better player.
Jeff Stoutland coached Kouandjio at Bama so that is something to keep in mind. Gibson played LT for Virginia Tech. He is a terrific athlete, but needs a lot of work. I think he would be an excellent fit for the Eagles offense and he could be on the board in the 6th round.
OL TJ Clemmings
OG Mark Glowinski
OL Laurence Gibson
OG Darryl Williams
OG Adam Shead
OG Tyrus Thompson
OG Arie Kouandjio
OG Tre Jackson
OG Josue Matias
OG Jamil Douglas
OL Takoby Cofield
OL Terry Poole
OL Chaz Green
OL Sean Hickey
OL Darryl Baldwin
OL Max Garcia
Small school players of possible interest
OL Cole Manhart – 6-4, 298
OL Jacob Rodgers – 6-6, 315
OG Chad Hamilton – 6-2, 292
OL Mike Coccia – 6-3, 301
OL Ross Hall – 6-4, 294
The Eagles could go for the DB in the 4th and still have some interesting OL choices in the 6th. They obviously wouldn’t be ideal prospects, but there is logic to that strategy since there is more depth at OL than at Safety.
We also have QBs Bryce Petty and Brett Hundley still on the board. Does Chip Kelly like either guy?

Here are some possible Eagles draft targets.

Find a way to get Mark Glowinski and I’ll be a happy man.
Add Glowinski and Clemmings and I’ll be ecstatic.
There is no Safety that I covet. I think Ibraheim Campbell is the guy I like the most of the available players (that make sense for the Eagles).

Once again, action heating up for the #Titans at No. 100, the first pick of the fourth round. Trade is in play.

The #Seahawks are making a big move, talking trading up to the No. 100 spot to lead off the fourth round. Keep an eye on them.

Do they have any picks left?!
Could be moving player or 2016 picks. If deal gets done.
Hope we can do a trade with theseahhawks. We need more picks
Vince Mayle in the 7th round…
Maybe the Eagles can trade back should the QBs keep falling…
Agree on OL for 4th round – Glowinski please…
I’m glad they spent the 5th round picks though to get Rowe.
Ok. Time for commercials
Last time we will see a team with time on the clock.
Apart from 4 O linemen for the Eagles today I want sex all day long. Thanks.
oddly specific, but i can get totally behind this
They can draft sex?
http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/w8wut.gif
He was brilliant in that movie.
Grab clemmings then trade up for glow or trade Boykin for a pick
Utterly painful
Is it okay today to spoil non-Eagles picks? I can’t tell if it has been announced on TV yet. It’s updated on the NFL.com tracker.
just dont spoil the eagles pick
If you know me you know the answer. Lol.
Joking aside, I really don’t care. 😉
Yeah, things are going to be wild today, just let us see the Eagles pick announced.
It’s ok to post whatever the hell u want.. This is a public site
That’s not how it works.
Sentiments like this is why people hate you.
Yes, but one should try to conduct themselves in a respectful matter taking the opinions of others into consideration.
Titans take DT Angelo Blackson of Auburn with the first pick of Round 4.
tre flowers to the pats
Raiders traded pick to Panthers. So, Panthers will take 3 players in this draft? 4 maybe?
Panthers take G/T Daryl Williams. Could have been an Eagles’ target.
Pats with 4 picks so far: 3 DL and 1 S. Guess you don’t need offense with Tom Brady.
They may have taken Grissom as a TE.
there goes daryl williams
I think Williams was the guy groping Hicks on the Oklahoma tape.
I think Ibrahim Campbell is the most special player available, but I view Rowe as a safety more then a CB, so I’m Not sure if we need to draft another safety, but I wouldn’t mind…
…
What happened to all the posters that said drafting Hundley In round 1 would be great value? Lol sheep Baaaaaaah Baaaaaah
It’s so crazy to me that 2 weeks ago we were all debating the merits of taking Brett Hundley at 20th overall. I thought it was a good piece by D3FB, but boy am I glad we avoided that reach at this point. Who would have thought Grayson and Mannion would go WAY before either Petty or Hundley?
We were also debating taking Clemmings in the 1st Round.
That’s why the NFL is the NFL, and we’re fans.
With that said, would love to get him at #113. I stand by my opinion that Hundley can be a successful QB in Chip’s system.
Never actually liked Hundley to be honest.
Hundley sucked two weeks ago -and he sucks now
Jets traded up with Jacksonville. Maybe today is trade day.
Lots of bored GMs over the last couple of days I guess
How far will petty and hundley fall, and a what point would it be worth taking them?
for us, udfa
If he goes undrafted, I wouldn’t mind
Petty just taken by Jets. Moved up one spot to secure him.
Yep. Thank god, did not want him in Philly.
oh snap, geno just lost his job
Doubt it. GENO sucks but it will take a few years before you can put Petty in an NFL game. I love Petty, but as a project.. No way he can play next year
Shame The baby born to the murdered woman passed away yesterday… That’s a damn shame, this kid better not have anything to do with this disgusting story.
…
He is a murder suspect who police are patiently waiting to talk to on Monday? No urgency for what may be a murder suspect?
…
What a horrible story, and I really hope Collins isn’t involved in something so disgusting
QB situation should be fun in New York this summer.
fun for those who aren’t jets fans!
wonder which one we get to see most of in pre-season game 4?
Wonder who’s starting in week 3 of the regular season !!
Might be the same answer to both questions!
Jags having another strong draft. I wonder when they’ll start making some noise.
Jaguars take S James Sample
Redskins take WR Jamison Crowder
What would people say to packaging the two 6th rounders to move up into the 5th? If that enables you to get maybe a slightly better prospect do you go for it or keep the two 6s and hope you get a better shot at one panning out?
Go for the 5th round pick! Who needs another 2 ILBs in the 6th round?
ooooooooooooo, the jags stadium has a pool! now i have a reason for wanting to visit jacksonville!
$10,000 per game for a 4 person Cabana pool side with all you can eat food and drinks… 10 grand to watch the Jags? LOL
you couldn’t pay me 10k to go to that stadium, still angry about the super bowl that happened there. i even get angry looking at the super bowel logo from that year
Damnit Crowder to the Skins
Bryce Petty is such a better 4th round QB project then Barkley was….
Bears take RB Jeremy Langford
Falcons take WR Justin Hardy
Titans take FB Jalston Fowler
Who is sitting on this blog not watching the draft, that we need to post every single pick made?
Me.
Don’t have cable and NFL.com isn’t streaming for some reason even though other video can
don’t mind it today, except for the eagles pick
I thought you said people can post whatever they want? 😉
I watch this and the nfl draft tracker since I can’t watch nfl network or ESPN in China.
same, got soccer to watch on TV so keeping an eye on the draft via here and nfl.com
Just curious…did you try wiziwig? The site might be down, not sure
Never heard of it I’ll look it up later mayhap.
It’s a good streaming site, but it’s hit or miss, sometimes it’s down, sometimes it’s great…. Wouldn’t mind it working tonight for the Mayweather fight …
..
Clayton Geathers goes to Indy.
Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
He’s not the lil bro of Clifton, is he?.
I actually think they are related. Cousins maybe.
Lol. They always have so many cousins in the NFL!!!

Why did #Jets trade up with the #Jaguars just one spot to take Bryce Petty? Because… the #Jaguars had an offer from the #Browns for him
And the Jags preferred the Jets 7th round pick to Johnny Football?!.
Clemmings gone.
Is Hundley too good to pass up at this point for Chip?
I’m rooting for him.
I don’t think he is “too good” for anything
Clemmings! Minnesota.
fuck
Are you watch espn or getting thsi from twitter?
ESPN
Its so far ahead of nfl network
/me sadface
I would take a flier on La’el!
damnit! I wanted Clemmings really badly
Obviously we didn’t though
We could have thought he’d drop to us. It’s not like we have a lot of picks left to trade up with. Although, I would have taken him in round three over a 5th ILB for our roster.
Tre Jackson to Patriots.
Wonder if stoutland has us go the arie Kouandjo route?
Edit: Bryce Brown pick.
bryce brown pick
No that’s the Bryce Brown pick
do tell
Great less picks smh. Better be for Ibrahim
We didn’t trade up
Nah that’s our pick from the Bryce brown trade.
Neither network is really “announcing” picks anymore. They’re just popping up on the ticker on ESPN.
Eagles on the clock.
With clemmings gone I think I want hundley
Or we could trade the pick
I wouldn’t mind it here
They must not be too concerned with losing him
Traded pick to DET
Eagles traded down with Lions.
YES!!!!!!! Nice move!!!
we traded pick
Pick traded to Lions
Good
I hope for at least 3 ILBS!
Hell, let’s make it 4!
Nice
tj clemmings must have been the guy, they waited to long, mofos
Yep. That’s too bad. O well. Good draft so far, let’s keep it going!
Doubt it… Think we were always going to look to trade back in this round of we could… Impatient chip can’t wat TIL the 6th round to make another pick
I really want someone to take ajayi before the cowboys pick
Word
Washington, damn. Just having such a good draft.
NFC BEAST is gonna be back in a couple years. Exciting.
Run on o-linemen. Eagles miss out again?
groundhog day
God damnit that run on OL definitely is going to screw us!
Believe we just traded back
We must not think much of Amos, unless we think we can get him later.
How far back did we go?
Any word on what we got from DET
Don’t know the trade, maybe we got a lineman from Detroit?
Detroit doesn’t have a 4th, so musth be back to the 5th.
That’s not great
That’s kind of awful…
yeah i gotta wait a whole hour. anyone know what we got in return?
Detroit didn’t have a 4th. They have 168 and 200 but that’s not enough. Maybe a 2016 pick included.
Where are we picking in the 4th?
Woah grabbed the Lions 3rd rounder next year
gabe wright to detriot
Wow.
#Eagles acquire 3rd round pick in 2016 from Detroit for a 2015 4th round pick (113).
We traded pick straight up for Lions’ 2016 3rd round pick. Hope we trade some players to get more picks today.
Hell no… Trade players for what 5th Round picks? Why? God no
Trade: #Eagles acquire 3rd round pick in 2016 from Detroit for a 2015 4th round pick (113)
No way
Awesome
Guess that is part of repairing losing #2 in the Foles trade. Not many picks left this year then.
ill take it
Thx
We got the Lions 3rd next year
Not picking again until 6th
Uhhhh THATS terriible.. To not have any picks between round 3 and 6? Grrrrrr
wtf chip doesnt believe in OL?
love what mIke Zimmer is doing with the Vikings defense…
Some please post trade details if / when known
got a 3rd round next year
Wow, we must really not like the mid round guys this year. I like getting an extra 3rd next year but not picking again until the 6th round !!
Understand getting 3rd next year since we’re without our 2nd, but I want more picks today.
our draft could basically be over. they said there were only a handful of players. if you’re taking a 3rd next year and have no 5th round picks…
I feel you
Getting another pick for 2016 makes sense with the fact that we are missing a 2nd round due to bradford.
Yep.
This is the type of annoying trade that smart teams make.
Investing in the future… At the end of the day whether it was a good trade depends on who we would have taken here, compared to what we get next year.
so three third round next year?
Just two.
didn’t the rams give us a 3rd?
Conditional on Bradford not playing.
Would have actually been 3 if we traded Sammy but you’re right
5 after we trade MK
Eagles must 5 people left on their board
No problem picking up a 3
it called delayed gratification, people!
Tequilla works like that too…

No excuse for that 2 years in a row
So we should have reached for a lineman at 113 instead of getting pick that will be about 30 spots better
yes clemmings not a reach
He wasn’t there
He was in the third
No big deal. We are set this year. OL will be a priority in FA and/or draft next offseason.
Barbre is a question mark at RG, Mathis is potentially holding out, and with the oldest projected starting line in the league without adequate depth, it’s silly to expect that there won’t be any injuries. Even one injury could completely throw our offense off the rails. That’s not “set” at all. If everyone of our starters plays all 16 games, and Barbre turns out to be a decent starter for the first time in his career at 31 years old, then yea I guess we’re set. But, that’s a lot of big ifs.
Jesus, I know BPA and all that but we really need to invest in our future at OL.
should have traded up
then stop picking damn inside line backers
So we aren’t getting any OL until at least the 6th round… surprising, considering the age of our line. We better hope Peters and Mathis continue to age gracefully!
yes, this is a little short sighted imo
Fuck two years in a row without an OL selection is brutal
kelly is obviously realllllllly high on gardner, tobin, and company
We better hope the OL stays healthy this year. Doesn’t matter who you’ve got at RB if the OL can’t block.
Perhaps Chip is higher on our current OL then we are.
Considering how they played last year I can’t imagine why he would be.
You just said exactly what I was going to say.
You Didnt get to see them in a healthy situation conducive to success… Remember they were the best 2nd string OL in the preseason last year they were dominant
They’re backups, their job description is to come into situations not conducive to their success.
Also, they were great in preseason? Really?
l trust me dude, big big difference between being a backup coming into a game, and being a backup who finds himself lining up next to a different player every week… You did NOT see the best they had to offer last year, especially since they are young, and still improving players.
..
Heck we act like we think we know guys like Kendricks and Cox, but those kids are still growing and improving, I’m sure we haven’t even seen their best yet…
Cohesion is super important on the oline. But, mostly with communication and setting the protections and making sure free rushers don’t get through. But, even when they executed all the basics correctly the majority of our backups simply got over matched and man handled by the lineman they were blocking. Molk was consistently driven backwards, as were Tobin, Kelly and Gardner. They certainly didn’t look to have the skills regardless of situation.
They are much better then we saw last year, with the exception of Molk who isn’t an NFL player
I mean I wish he just tool Clemmings in the 3rd but what lineman that’s left is worth a 3rs rounder
I dunno. According to Schefter, Clemmings has a stress fracture in his foot that cannot be repaired with surgery so his career longevity is in question as his availability this year.
Knowing that now, i think I understand why they wouldn’t pick him.
We know he had an old, already healed stress fracture. Schefter just said stress fractures in general can cause those things you listed above and can be hard to fix surgically. But, most stress fractures, particularly one’s that have already healed do not lead to full fractures and don’t require surgery at all.
Recent sports medicine, believes their is a direct correlation with weight and that injury… For example, The Sixers are dealing with a navicular stress fracture in Embiid’s foot and their research suggests, keeping him at 275lbs and not let him get to 300lbs is crucial for his future,.. Allegedly 300lbs is the Kiss of death with that injury
This is absolutely true. And it’s not just a believe it’s just physics and a fact. The more weight the more stress on the bones in the lower extremities, the higher the incidence of that stress causing the bone to develop stress fractures. Foot issues in a 320 pound guy are definitely concerning. But, an old stress fracture that’s already healed and calcified is a lot less of an issue than an active crack that’s not healing and might worsen or develop an actual fracture. This one already resolved and healed without him experiencing any pain or issues from it. That’s a lot less concerning.
The SIXERS did a big study, and they looked at the centers who had careers cut short, like Yao and Todd McCollough, and they concluded that the Bigmen who also had to fight weight issues, often had their career cut short by the injury, and that Bigs who kept their weight down, were able to have long careers for the most part at least
And pain means nothing,. It’s not uncommon for a player to not even know. He has a stress fracture,… For example, Embiid NEVER felt pain, he had no idea he had a stress fracture in his foot, and we kept him out of action for over a year to give him a chance to heal… I wouldn’t touch.clemmings. And I think he was over rated on this site but whatever, not my problem
Pain doesn’t necessarily mean nothing. Pain can be a very reliable symptom of severity. Embiid never felt pain, and he’s going to be fine now that it’s healed. That’s significant. He caught it before it got worse and subsequently developed pain. He was able to sit for a year, let it heal and then take measures to prevent it from happening again.
No pain means that the stress fracture never progressed to something serious. The fact that it was calcified and an old healed stress fracture, indicates that it was able to resolve even with him playing football everyday. Those are all good signs. Overall, everything you’re saying is absolutely true.
Again, I’m agreeing with you, just trying to add some context to the discussion. I’m not just pulling things out of my arse either. I’m a doctor and for years was planning on going into orthopedics before switching tracks late in the process. I know what I’m talking about when I talk about stress fractures.
I’m agreeing with you by the way
Schefter made it sound like it’s still an issue (or a new stress fracture).
The report that came out from the medical exams around the combine are that it was incidentally found during some sort of radiographic imaging (not sure what types of scans or xrays they submit the players to in their exams). They said it was an old, already healed area of calcification that appears to be a resolved stress fracture. The issue is that it might be a one time thing that’s done and resolved or he could be prone to this happening. His foot bones can’t handle the stress of his weight plus the pounding of football and these will become chronic issues. It’s not currently an issue, but it has the potential to effect his ability to play long term, his longevity, his ability to handle the long season without developing these and IF these things develop and then IF they don’t heal and get worse they can progress to a full fracture of the bone, which is extremely difficult to fix surgically due to poor blood flow and healing in the foot. The treatment for stress fractures is just 1-6 weeks of rest, anti-inflammatory meds and then gradually ramping up your excercising. They’re caused when you rapidly increase the amount of stress on your bones. Your bones continually turn over, they break down and rebuild all day every day. Usually the break down and the rebuild are equal and the bone stays healthy. If you rapidly increase the amount of stress and hence break down of the bone, before your body can adapt to that level of stress the rebuilding lags behind and the bone weakens and small micro cracks appear (stress fracture). If you rest, they go away. If you increase your exercise slowly the body adapts and increases the rebuilding of the bone process to compensate and they don’t occur. So either he ramped up his exercising too fast at some point in the last few years, and then eventually the issue resolved and he’s fine now, or his body simply cannot rebuild the bones fast enough given his weight and the stress of playing football under that weight and these things will recur again and again and cause him issues throughout his career. The point is no one knows which it will be. But, the fact that it was an already healed lesion, no active disease, and caused him no problems or symptoms, is a good sign that it’s not a chronic issue.
So the Eagles goal was to pick at least 8 times in this year’s draft.
They can only achieve this by trading players now.
I think I can root for an 0-16 Lions season…
Those good old Lions days. Lol
Eagles were going to cut Asante Samuel and managed to get a late 7th for him. Everyone laughed. Turned it into a 3rd.
Washington jacked Arie Kouandijo right before our pick.
I’m a big fan of trading a pick for another pick that’s a round higher the following year. There’s a big difference between 3rd and 4th round picks. I’m always surprised teams don’t take those deals more often.
At least we know Chip feels comfortable that he’ll be here for 2 more years. However, I’m legitimately scared of our oline depth. An injury or two anywhere on our offensive line could completely alter our offenses ability to operate as it should. Our fragile and relatively immobile QB really needs some attention spent on our Oline. I’m just so surprised that we haven’t addressed oline for two straight years.
Let’s hope Chip has something else up his sleeve to address the Oline otherwise this could really come back to bite us. At this point I’d trade Boykin straight up for a decent starter at OG.
I’m also a fan, but to not make a pick in between Rounds 3 and 6 iS something I can’t support
doubt we’re taking that TE you like, draft basically over.
Yup
that’s for sure
I too am concerned but UDFA and trade deals are still available. Could be a Division II OL is in the cards.
Yea none of those options really makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
Lol
Any chance Glowinski lasts to the 6th round?
Yes
any chance amos/james make it that far?
No
Praying for Jesse James
Browns take Campbell
Evan Mathis just might have stopped watching jelly fish having sex on the beach to get back to the Novacare Complex.
Blake Bell to SF
Turned 2,4,5,5 into Rowe, 2016 3, 6 I’m so fine with that
I hope they got a good APR
This is surprising considering how critical Chip considers OL to be to the success of his offense.
Never even heard of the guy Arizona just took and my draft research is pretty thorough. They traded up for him too.
I was wondering who the heck that guy was too lol
I think Arie Koundjio was the pick we wanted. Damn it skins
Probably, Stoutland connection
Yeah, skins are killing it this year under new GM.
Isnt he a mauler though? Not our type
Chip showed how little he thinks of the dwarf Ifo OLOMU
I totally forgot about Ifo
—–
But Chip wants more picks right??? RIGHT??? Jesus he’s a slick talker.
He just wants his guys. And apparently good value. That’s something we usually look for in a GM.
Didn’t say its a bad thing. Chip can talk out of both sides of his mouth all he wants, its just amusing.
We don’t pick for another 75 selections. Guess I can turn the draft off and take a nap.
With the Chipper as GM? i would stay tuned lol!
Nothing interesting is going to happen. He’s already flatly stated he never offered anyone in a trade right? So off to sleep with me.
Could be actually true – 1] Ed did the offering or 2] there were hypothetical conversations; as in, if we did this would you do that. Deniability.
You’ll go to sleep and then he’ll trade Boykin for a 5th and 6th.
He never offered Boykin in a trade. Boykin was never on the table. He just said so yesterday.
That was yesterday.
Touche and so true.
And you believe him?
Good point! Chip has never lied to us before.
Good point the media has never been wrong 😉
Could be some Division II OL in our future.
Do you mean division II quality OL play? I can see that
The trading pick for a future picknin higher round strategy is one of my favorites
Also known as the New England Patriots strategy. It’s a sound one.
Never heard of Delaware State U
It’s in Delaware
and it’s a U
A State U to be exact,,,
Ever been to Dover?
Just don’t confuse Delstate with UofD.
Back in another age my band used to play at a bar near U of D called the Stone Balloon, always had a big U of D crowd
Actually I think Jamaal Jackson came from there
Kenny Chesney announced the pick for the 49ers… Thankfully Riley Cooper wasn’t in the house…
Maybe he was. Waiting for the video to surface…
if he gets cut i’m sure he’ll just join the tour.
Well, I know there’s a Riley Cooper joke in there somewhere
Bengals take CB/S Josh Shaw
Steelers take CB/S Doran Grant
Yep, the USC Liar
LOL dude told the world he got hurt being a hero, jumping To save his 7yr old cousins from Drowning…..LMAO!!!!
Ravens took DE Za’Darius Smith. A little awkward fit for 3-4. Not quite big enough for 3-4 DE or fast enough for 3-4 OLB.
Hope we can get Shaq Riddick or Fua in round 6..: Edge rusher project to try and develop … Unless Jesse James fall farther then I ever imagind
Mayle gone
Really liked him
so we’re getting 2 probably starters in this draft?
I bet they think Hicks is an eventual starter. If you get 2 immediate starters in a draft, you’re doing well.
hopefully they just trade 2 6ths for a 4th next year and call it a day.
Two starters for sure…or at least as sure as you can be in the draft. One possible starter in 2-3 years if he stays healthy and then literally nothing. Eh…not liking the sound of that.
better put –that’s what i’m thinking.
WOULDNT mind the big Gtech WR’s as our next “Momah”… Keep swinging for the fences taking fliers on big WR targets Til we strike gold…
Agreed.
No pass rushers?
Maybe a 6th for vjax10?
OLOMU made 3mil dollars from falling out of round 3 thanks to insurance policy oregon took out
Can we draft a player who is entering the NBA draft without him putting his name in the draft? For example, if Basketball player Ricco Gaethers from Baylor hasn’t entered the NFL draft, how would a team go about signing him? Can they just sigń him as a UDFA? Or would he have to put his name in next years draft? Supplemental draft?
Pukes are up
Guess they’ll take Ayaji. Concern with him is bone-on-bone condition that could shorten his career. But RBs have short careers anyway.
Tampa Bay traded up and took LB Kwon Alexander
Ravens take RB Javorious Allen
49ers take RB Mike Davis
Rachel Nichols and Michelle Beadle being blocked from covering the fight by Mayweather tonight
Really? Smh
no hotties?
They aren’t THAT hot,,, they are just hot compared to the dude counterparts
Rachel Nichols is
Meh
i’d be down for the menage since they have nothing better to do tonight
I like Beadle more cuz she seems like a cool chick… But as for looks, meh… I wouldn’t cheat on my lady for eithet.. And that’s really how I judge hot famous chicka, by my “would I cheat on my girl meter” lol
Because they’ve actually called Mayweather on his past
well what else would the expect
Kind of stupid consisting even men and espn outside the lines were calling mayweather out for beating woman
F that
Cowboys take ILB Damien Wilson. Thought he’d be 7th rder/UDFA. In their defense, everyone laughed when they took Anthony Hitchens in the 4th last year and he played well.
Do they have one of the worst mascots of all time or what?
I wanna slap that stupid smile off its face
The mascot or Romo? Romo could use a good slap.
Both
Jordan Hicks pick may end up being prescient. Last real ILB talent on the board by many accounts. We’ll see.
me thinks ap to dallas?
well he’s dumb, that’s not how it works. and they’d hang up on you for calling
For what? eagles should just draft the kid anyway at this point In round 6… Who cares if we waste a 6th?
Screw his agent..he asked, and we declined… Draft the damn kid!!!
Unless you plan on drafting a Tom Brady with our 6th round pick, his Talemt is worth the flier
I would take the chance.
It’s not like he is singling us out… I’m sure his agent asked me very team who called him not to draft him, but so what… Draft him, and when he looks around at our OL depth and gets here, good chance he changes his mind, shuts up and cashes the check…..mand if not, we wasted1 of 2 6th round picks taking a flier on one of the top offensive linemans n the entire draft… Well worth the risk of wasted pick and the headache with his agent…
…
If Monday he becomes a suspect, you don’t sigń him. No big deal
Still can’t believe the Packers took. My dude Ty MOntgomery in round 3….epic reach!
If the Eagles don’t take any OL and Collins goes undrafted so he has to sign somwhere then the Eagles’ depth chart will look pretty attractive to him when making his decision where to sign with. That’s assuming of course that he’s cleared.
wishful thinking but i’m there with you. i think we could move into the 5th.
could hundley go this round.
Packers took Jake Ryan. There’s their ILB. I had the Eagles taking him in the 5th in my final mock.
Same.. I had him as our target as well for the inside/outside versatility
Poole was a guy we liked
A lot of these OL who have gone lately were rated lower. Really hoping Glowinski or Garcia are available in the 6th round.
there goes Garcia
Glowinski is gone too.
Who are the Texans starting at QB this year? Is Obrien still holding out for Hackenburg or whatever his name is? TCU Boykin is the better QB…
hackenburg isn’t in the draft
I meant next year,. If he was in the draft, I assume he would have took him a while ago
They signed Brian Hoyer. Will compete with Mallett.
That’s right they did get Hoyer…
hahaha good point
dude is probably waiting in the green room, vowing to use this slight as motivation that will inspire him the rest of his life.
Pats take C/G Shaq Mason
49ers take WR DeAndre Smelter
Eagles Draft Live is coming back on. Does that mean Eagles acquired a pick? No, it’s the PCs for Rowe and Hicks.
Damn, the Broncos took Max Garcia.
This is f’ing painful. Talent flying off the board and all we can do is sit on our hands
hey man we got an extra 3rd next year, just hold on to that
That’s sure gonna help us this year…
DAMNIT
Seahawks took Glowinski
Glowinski gone
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Glowinski? GlowOUTski.
Yeah so OL is not happening this year.
Lesson: If you want an OL you need to overdraft them even if there are higher guys on the board.
Manzc still there boys.
Would be good fit in 6th actually. Injury concerns could drop him there.
So 2016 Draft needs for Eagles – will be OL/OL/TE lol ^^
and probably S again
That’s fine with me. Hopefully Tobin or Barbre is a revelation and we don’t need one so badly.
And Mathis stays good and holds out again but then comes to play again?
Think it’s safer to say Mahis is staying and everyone running their mouths about us foolishly trading away our talent is full of ish…
Oh, I think he’s staying this year. Less sure about next year. And at this point we’re drafting for next year.
Yeah we certainly can’t count on him much longer, but I feel like all the talk has just been bullshit, hardball game of chicken that we were playng with Mathis and his agent
LEAL COLLINS!!!! DO IT! BArry FInkle says Do It! johnny Walker Neat, Do It! do It!
…
The steal of the draft
at this point if he’s there in the sixth i don’t see why not
DO IT! Lol
Fine with me
Maybe it’s time to think about making a trade for a veteran
Maybe, some guys still out there in FA that are serviceable – Rob Sims for one
There are, I’m sure, a few decent veterans available as a result of new draft talent on those teams. We could use a 6th or 7th to trade for one.
Not crazy to see a UDFA OL show some potential
Adrian Amos, Brett Hundley, Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, Rashad Greene, Sean Hickey.
So we will need 3 new OL in next years draft. Way to go chip.
Chip about to speak on NFLN
Ask why he hates the OL!!!
chip kelly is going to be on NFLN
Rowe says he doesn’t care that much about whether he is corner or safety, but there’s a different way of playing each position, a different mentality, and he doesn’t want to be moving back and forth.
My money is on him playing safety, because I think the nolan vs walter competition will provide a better starting CB then people realize right now..
Don’t do me like you did Marcus
Titans got David Cobb, like that tiny lil RB
David Cobb is definitely not tiny
5’9?
Short, stocky
Considering I’m 6’3 and stocky, he is tiny…
Everything I see says 5’11, 229.
Same
5’11 229
Hundley still not picked. Wow
Why? Because he runs fast?
Have no clue what anyone sees in him
He runs fast
Basically… People love punt returner skills in their eagle QBs for some strange reason
That’s exactly why.
He doesn’t even run that fast. He spins it though.
Someone will get a steal with him.
I was being sarcastic with him.
Chip on NFLN.
Loved that interview and banter. Classic Chip stuff.
Really liked Greene
Rashad Greene to Jaguars. Awesome fit as slot WR.
Thought the Bucs would have taken him
Per Chip, tried to move up even higher in the 2nd for Rowe.
Interesting.
Too bad we can’t find out whether he could have traded down and still had Rowe on the board.
Few months later but now the media finally has to accept the fact that chip kelly really likes Sam Bradford…
He was always option 1B if the price for Mariota was anywhere close to what it ended up being. I think Chip is being honest that he inquired. Gave it probably a harder push than he’s obviously letting on. No need to make Bradford and others feel like they’re unwanted. But, he knew all along that he was content with Bradford as the starter if the price for Mariota was too high, which it obviously was going to be. He knew he didn’t want to continue with Nick Foles and got the best upgrade he could. Nothing more the guy can do. We’re a better team with Bradford over Foles.
WAS having a really nice draft
JM:
Who’ve they added since 1st rd?
Just off the top of my head Matt Jones, Preston Smith, Jamison Crowder, & Martrell Spaight. Might have missed 1.
Preston Smith, Koundajo
Yep, forgot Kouandjio.
Chip already calling Tim Tebow “Timmy”.
Also said that they have great confidence in Sam, Mark and Matt and those will be our 3 quarterbacks moving forward.
So what’s Tebow doing here?
“Competing for a job”
thx
FB/TE/Wildcat QB
Chip backpedalled when asked, said he’d compete. The real answer, imo, is exactly what Sanchez earlier. Throw to receivers while Sam heals up, since Kinne won’t be available in that role this year.
TEBOW is here because GJ Kinney told chip he doesn’t want to play QB so he can compete and try to make the team as a ST player and Swiss Army knife role on offense .. Had to replace Kinneys camp arm
Chip called Rowe a cb a couple times for those of you pining for a position clue.
I noticed that but that just can’t make much sense we have a giant hole in safety and log jam of bodies at CB unless watkins is moving to safety
That’s kinda what I’m thinking.
I thought watkins bulked up to play safety this year, wasn’t that reported a few days ago.
That was more of his thoughts not the coaching staff
Or we have a giant hole at CB and a huge logjam at safety. Wolff, Watkins, Couplin then some ST guys.
Ed Reynolds is still there, too.
knew I was forgetting someone.
Still don’t see a giant hole we got carroll and thurmond not great but at least proven veteran unlike the safeties
Some think Thurmond is more of a slot corner, and I have just as much confidence in Wolff and Watkins as I do in Carroll.
I just don’t think our strength in one of those positions is that much different from the other to where that’d be the deciding factor. You play him where you think he’ll be best, which appears to be CB.
I just hope they don’t keep him on the bench because of the contract they gave Thurmond. As of now, I don’t think that will happen. I’m sure I’ll flip flop on that several times… before dinner.
Wolff supposed healthy and ready to go as well
I heard a few different interpretations, but I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Did mention his position versatility a couple times though.
Not a huge push for 3rd OLB
Not a huge push at S if we assume Rowe is a CB
Depending a lot on Smith and Watkins which is somewhat surprising as some thought that they were Howie’s guys and Kelly wasn’t enamored with them.
Watkins was a great athlete that could play any secondary spot. He is clearly a chip guy.
Roseman has the University of Florida connection.
Amos gone
DA BASTARDS!
“I don’t think about what I think as much as you think about what I think.” -Chip Kelly
that was such a great comment. Chip handles the media pretty well.
Chip hands down lessons to school kids pretending to be media guys. I would like him to smack down #ESP at some point.
That would make me so happy
Draft is a joke…what the hell is so bad about following the draft and showing each pick announced? How is this broadcast better? They completely butchered entire day 3 of the draft….. This is horrible. I’m not even going to watch day 3 next year… What a joke
http://static.ow.ly/photos/normal/aD8In.jpg
Oh wow. I thought both were supposedly around the same height?
Amazing what a camera lense can do
Science!
After we aren’t drafting anyone all day, if we spend a 6th on Hundley I might throw up… Need to draft Lael Collins
I don’t see us doing that
Hundley would be great value even now
Not unless he wants to move to punt returner
If he didn’t run fast you wouldn’t even know his name I bet
Giants just took a Texas S who the beat writers who cover Texas thinks sucks. Mykelle Thompson. So, it’s probably a great pick.
Ok Giants just jumped the shark – who the hell is MYKKELE THOMPSON?
UTx safety
http://texassports.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5197
Id rather draft Safety tra’mayne Bondurrant just to have a safety with a kickass name to go allong with TE Jesse James…
Kinda pissed we didn’t stay at #113 and take Glowinski
I wouldn’t trade a mid third round pick for Glowinski
RapSheet says Cowboys may take Hundley
Oh no.
Maiota/DGB is the new TEBOW/hernandez…
Yikes. Let’s hope it doesn’t end up the same way.
Jesus you’re dumb.
wtf
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CEAd6PZVIAEJ71S.png
Wtf is that hideous looking thing? Are we trying to win an “ugly Xmas sweater party” contest?
No wonder the stores refused to carry Bradford jerseys.
Butt ugliest thing I’ve ever seen
I can’t believe anyone made such a hideous piece of shit for any reason whatsoever…
fortunately, whatever it is, it’s not by Nike . . . which means it’s just a Christmas sweater
ew that’s atrocious
They gave it the Russian mobster star tattoos on the front of the shoulders bwahahahah ..put them on the knees of the pants while we are at it, so everyone will know we,kneel to NO man, Aleksander Sasha Emelienenko style!
the whole thing is mind numbingly terrible. There’s little silver snow flakes on the shoulders, what appears to be angel wings coming out of the shoulder blades on the back that are so far apart you can’t even make out what they are, the ridiculous bridge across the front, the cheesey tattoo symbols on the front breast like we’re a trailor park mamma, the Hawaiian tribal symbols across the bottom…what the hell are you going for?
Someone presented this in front of other people and convinced them to spend money making this!! It’s just inconceivable to me that a bunch of people sat in a room somewhere and looked at this prototype and were like, “YES! Frank you nailed it!! This is just the type of thing we were looking for to nab that ever elusive Polynesian, russian mobster, Philadelphia-based, Cosby sweater aficionado demographic. Get this prototype to the factory immediately.”
Looks like they bet on the Eagles taking a QB from Hawaii… and lost.
Looks like they bet on us drafting russian mobster to me
It’s less retarded looking than a Nnamdi Asomugha jersey
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!! It’s gorgeous!
Look at the Giants fans cheering like they have any idea who that is
Brett Hundley to Packers. They have time to develop him. Good pick.
Great pick.
I think he’s high risk/high reward. I didn’t want to take him in top 3 rounds because I don’t think he’s likely to be a franchise QB but he has the physical skill set but needs time to learn how to be a QB. No risk for Packers in Round 5 with an established starter.
Yup, great pick. He could develop well behind the best QB in the league, won’t have to start as soon as he probably would if he came here, wish him the best of luck
We’re gonna regret not taking him when we had a chance.
I guess they’ll sit Hundley for 6 years to eventually take over for Rogers.
Develop him for 2-3 years and then flip him for a 2 in 2018, after a couple of mind blowing pre season games. Great for Packers and great for Brett to be honest.
Yeah agreed.
Packers trade up to take Hundley.
Rodgers just demanded a trade
off Bradford straight up? worse case we can add that 2016 3rd rounder.
43 picks until we’re on the board again…ugh this is terrible. I’ve been on a constant downward swing since the 3rd round
Bye Hundley
where’s he off to?
Green Bay.
Green Bay
Pack
I don’t think they’ve drafted any 3rd day busts so far.
0 reaches as well, got value at every pick.
It’s unanimous, we’re winning day 3.
Not a 3-4 fit, but strange that Ohio State DT Michael Bennett is still available
Jay Ayaji to Dolphins. Steal.
So do the cowboys honestly think they don’t need a running back? What is jerry smoking?
Kind of like us not taking OL huh?
Well 3rd round picks next year are more important duh
Well there is a good chance reaching for an OL in 2016 in the 3rd is a better player than a reach in the 4th in 2015….
We’re looking for depth and potential for the future. They have a gaping hole in the starting lineup.
Did we lose an all-pro lineman that I missed. No, not the same.
Let’s hope he keeps thinking that, cause otherwise they’ve added some nice players.
Haven’t loved their draft. Jones was good but locker room chemsitry is key for a team and you bring in a felon like Hardy and a guy with mental issues(even if not his fault). Their 3rd and 4th round picks were both reaches IMO.
Romo can just run it himself.
Why do you think he drafted Gregory? He’s not just supplying sacks.
Gregory and running game don’t mix
Agreed, he fell for more than just pot reasons.
Has time to put on weight, get his life straightened out.
Big risk/reward play by Cowboys.
If this kid gets more stout, even as a 2-down pass rusher (like Vinny Curry), he could be a great choice.
Come to think of it, Vinny Curry’s a 2-down player as a 2nd Rd pick.
Good analogy. Except I like VC.
Worst eagle draft ever… Not in terms of our picks, just in terms of a fan looking forward to watching the draft. It’s bad enough the broadcast of day 3 has comp, etely been butchered
..
What’s funny is before today, a lot of the media were down on the draft for our draft “not be exciting enough after missimg out on MM”.. The first 3 picks didn’t “excite”…. Imagine what they are saying now lol..
…
The media spent months reporting a bunch of nonsense, and now they are pissed that it is anti climatic compared to the bogus expectations they put in everyone’s head? Lol
Nobody cares.
I get excited about the UDFA signings so I can live without not quite as much sexiness.
Love UDFAs heck I start looking for them in round 7… This message board is a poor representation of Eagles fans and media.. Tom is more responsible then 90% of local eagle media, and fans here are Prob in the upper 10percentile of educated eagle fans..
…
So while substance draft and finding value late is exciting for us, the rest of eagle nation probably doesn’t view it the way we do,,
We have more roster spots to sign UDFAs this year than in the past couple of years too. There were 68 players on the team pre-draft IIRC so if we stay with only 6 draft picks then there’d be space for 16 UDFAs.
Yup, and we will have some more money to throw around
I think we’re saving our money, so instead of paying a bunch of rookies were going to over pay for an UDFA named Collins
Yeah if you want him gotta spend a pick on him
Each team has the same amount of money for bonuses to give to UDFAs no matter how many you sign. So that doesn’t really matter. Where teams can make it more attractive for UDFAs to sign is by guaranteeing a portion of their first year base salary. Most UDFAs don’t make the team anyway so this is almost like a signing bonus.
Exactly, September is when it starts to count. Until then…
Love the draft, besides the Hicks pick I love the moves did a great job moving out of the 4th
I even like the hicks pick and I don’t assume we are losing Mykal .. I like an extra 3rd next year…. I have no problem with what we are doing in terms of team building, im talkimg about it having to be the worst draft in terms of watching the draft
No doubt, draft has been boring and it’s a messz they are so many ociks behind if they even announce them and then people complain if you spoil a pick from 10 minutes earlier.
For those curious, we traded #145 to MIA as part of the Rowe deal, and the following players were taken afterwards (to date):
Stefon Diggs
Brett Hundley
Davis Tull
Jay Ayaji
Cedric Thompson
David Parry
Jarvis Harrison
No one on the board would make me regret that move. No guarantees in life, but they got who they wanted. Of course someone drafted after Rowe will end up with a better career, but that doesn’t change that it was a good move.
I agree. Just fodder for conversation while we wait for another 40 picks.
MKSP:
I wonder if the Eagles moved out of the 4th (after missing on someone selected earlier) and also traded both 5th Rd picks because their board was very, very lean in that area.
It’s a good question, and I don’t think anyone is arguing that we got bad value for any of the moves.
Based on some of the visits, I would tend to agree with you, it seems we’re targeting a lot of guys in the lower rounds, and didn’t want to overdraft them.
But this all assumes that Chip & Co. have an understanding of “value.”
Did they think Terry Poole and Glowinksi were going to be there in the 6th? Because if they did, they were horribly wrong, and SEA just ate their lunch taking those two guys.
It’s an interesting strategy if it works. Not very typical.
I am glad we replaced the Nick Foles pick we lost next year.
But this all assumes that Chip & Co. have an understanding of “value.”
___________
Exactly.
When does the answer start to become clear?
I think the value of their picks have been good. Haven’t reached this year. So that’s one part of the answer.
Let’s see who we pick up in the 6th / 7th / UDFA Round. If those guys end up playing meaningful roles for PHI down the line, then it could be that Chip just happens to be good at this GM thing.
good theory
Fack! I wanted Emanuel
Damn, Chargers just took OLB Kyle Emanuel. Hoped he’d slip to 6th rd but had him as 5th in all my mocks.
Yeah I love small school pass rushers.
1. “He was our highest rated player by far,” said Chip Kelly. “We had him rated in the second round.
2. Chip Kelly said . . . the Eagles rated [him] in the top 50
____________
1. Player in question: Jordan Hicks
2. Player in question: Matt Barkley
The difference is in who is doing the ratings or at least who’s in charge of the team doing the ratings
Kelly wants you to believe that, no question.
No way he chats up Barkley the way he did unless he liked him a lot.
People are down on hicks because he wasn’t a popular name, if we would have drafted Paul Dawson instead of him fans would be thrilled, when in reality Hicks runs circles around fat ass Dawson with His name brand and no substance
Not down on him.
Just Kelly’s quote reminded me of what he said about Barkley.
Bottom line — Kelly’s right that the draft is close to a crapshoot.
Eagles and his coach strong had him going in round 2… I’ll trust that over the mock community consensus Til proven otherwise…
In reality, the ping pong ball idea would probably produce similar results to the actual draft.
Nobody is down on him.
GEAGLE just insists on constructing strawmen so he can rant about them.
just asked you a question — hope you see it
If a QB can’t throw the 15 yard out, they can’t play in the league. Barkley can’t do that and how the Eagles graded him in the top 50 is beyond me.
Belichick (when doubling as D3FB) has argued that Barkley’s shoulder never returned to 100%.
(I believe he’s written that)
Exactly why I don’t mind them trading up. They can’t evaluate good players in lower rounds, so use those picks to get a better pick in the higher rounds.
Beau allen and UDFA Trey Burton strongly disagree
I’d forgotten that Beau Allen was in for a NC visit last year.
Anyone left in the draft who came to NC?
Yup. A good amount I think. Most of their visits were late-round projections.
And Barkley was a good pickup. QB is the biggest crapshoot of them all, still have to take your shots.
I really wonder what the plan is at LB.
Let competition sort it out….. Remember chip values ST even more then most. He targeted special team aces in free agency last year, I wouldn’t put it past him to spend a 3rd on a LB he views as a ST stud for like the first 3 years of his career,,..
…
Love what we are doing.. Stack the talent at positions and let competition sort it out….
Depth and competition. Helps ST play there as well. Pretty sure minimizing the effect of injuries is a goal across the board.
I think the coaches are smart enough to know that you can’t 100% count on a 31 year old Ryans to return to form less than a year removed from his second achilles repair (even if it’s on the other leg…hell maybe it’s worse that his one good leg is now f’d up too).
I don’t think DeMeco is pencilled in as a starter. Bringing him back at a reduced price is a classy move by Chip for our defensive leader. But, at the end of the day he’s not here expected to start and be at full strength from day one. The best you can reasonably expect is that he offers leadership, depth and a stabilizing force for the new LBs we’re bringing in and expecting to learn a new system. Worst case scenario he just doesn’t recover enough to be functional anymore and he gets cut either this summer or next off season. At best, he’s a low risk insurance policy with high leadership intangibles for a team that lost a lot of stars and leaders this offseason.
Kiko is also recovering. He tore his ACL in preseason so he should be good to go by the time the season rolls around. But, again there’s no guarantee he returns to form or doesn’t have a set back at some point. Right now he’s pencilled in as one of the starters and expected to be a difference maker like he was as a rookie. Knowing that it’s not a foregone conclusion though, we have Meco around as insurance, hoping that between these two rehabbers, one will be able to start.
I think Kendricks stays this year and is certain to start if he does. This will be one last year to see how he progresses as a LB in this system. If he continues to be inconsistent, unable to make calls on the field and/or gets hurt again he walks next year. If he turns that corner and becomes a stud, he might be a top priority free agent for us to resign or depending on how the other players recover/develop is allowed to leave. Otherwise, he’s too valuable to next years defense that has two other injured players recovering to give up for anything less than a 2nd round pick.
Hicks is here because DeMeco will most certainly be gone in 2 years, might be gone a lot sooner and Kendricks is 50/50 to be here next year.
Reasonable expectations of the coaching staff is that DeMeco plays leadership roll and can play in obvious running situations and add needed depth, but probably ends up being phased out and gone by next year, Kiko returns to form and is a starter for years to come, the starter next to him in the future is either Kendricks if he becomes an all pro with Hicks behind him as the top LB backup. Or if Hicks comes on strong and Kendricks is up and down, the future is Hicks and Kiko with DeMeco being phased out.
That’s my best guess
Kendricks / Alonso / Ryans will likely be in a rotation.
Kendricks will walk for big money after the season, and maybe we’re more quiet in FA, so we get meaningful comp picks for him, Curry and Boykin. Take a page from Ozzie’s book.
I’m a lot more confident after this past week that Curry might be in the long term plans. A guy that can generate that type of pressure and deliver 8-10 sacks as a rotation guy is extremely valuable. And, despite the awkward scheme fit, I think the coaching staff realizes how much value he adds to the defense.
I think we’ll make a strong push to resign him and, ultimately, it will come down to whether or not Curry wants to go play for a 4-3 team or if he’s happy getting a decent sized contract to play for his favorite team as a key rotational pass rusher that plays 40% of the snaps.
His situation might turn out like Grahams where everyone was convinced he was gone and the market wasn’t significantly better for him to move to another team.
Kendricks will walk for big money after the season
____________
Yes. Take that to the bank!
And the Ozzie theory
I at least want to see Kiko and Kendricks side-by-side for 1 season.
Belichick’s had no problem letting most of his guys walk in the 00’s for comp picks.
select players got extended.
Picks i could see in the 6th round.
Dres Anderson – You can almost lock this in – Chip was all over him at his Pro Day and is perfect Redshirt guy with big upside.
Kenny Bell – Great Value at this point.
Tre McBride – Surely wont be there at 191? Crazy he has dropped this far
Max Valles – Developmental pass rusher i like
Ben Koyack – good blocking TE who has enough athleticism to be a pass catcher.
Derron Smith – Don’t love him but has to be value at some point.
Andy Gallik and BJ Finney – both are centre’s who can play guard, would be good swing guys for depth.
All those guys would be good values.
Zach Hodges still available as well?
I hadn’t realized that Dres Anderson’s dad is Flipper Anderson until I just re-looked him up when you mentioned him.
Flipper still holds the record for most yards receiving in a single game — on (the original) MNF against the G-men.
He kept going long and QB Jim Everett kept hitting him in stride
Did not know that. You are a true encyclopedia of football knowledge.
Alani Fua, Greg Mancz as well
I don’t think enough people realized just how weak this draft class actually was overall. Besides the lack of any really intriguing players at the top of the draft, outside of the top 2 QBs who were, in all actuality, pretty mediocre prospects compared to other draft class’ top QBs, the first round only had about 15-17 true first round picks, everything else after that was a wash until about pick 45. After that it’s just been a bunch of bleh. Not a lot of intriguing players in the middle rounds that would get me excited and the few that were supposed to be good values in those late 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds have almost all taken nose dives down the board and lasted until the 5th round. Really boring uninspiring draft overall.
I don’t totally disagree – i like a lot of the 2nd round guys and i think that group of players will match up with other draft classes. Think 3-4th rounds had a bigger drop off than normal but there is a lot of value late round. This is not the 2013 draft.
Bills take a RB. Wouldn’t surprise me if they cut Bryce Brown after the draft. You could tell by Ryan’s comments that he wasn’t high on him.
Dolphins take CB/WR Tony Lippett.
Brown was basically the player we gave up to move up for Rowe. 4th became a 5th in Bradford trade.
Would love Darryl Roberts with one of our 6ths if he’s still there
This is a good call, we know they like him…
You know how we know we are improving as a franchise? Conpetition at training camp should be drastically tougher at most spots then it has been any year since chip arrived… It should be tougher to make this eagle team then any of chips past teams and that’s a great sign of growth towards building this program… Fair open competition pushes the cream to the top and increases Player growth. Should be a very competitive training camp
This is very true. Except at Offensive Line. Everything after the top 4 is wide open. WR won’t have Maehl’s, Will Murphy’s or Brad Smith’s making this team next year. No way we’re arguing about Kenjon Barner and Matthew Tucker at RB. Lots of competition at CB now and a good amount more at Safety with Watkins, Wolff and maybe Rowe. Things are looking good.
I just hope we find a diamond in the rough along the Oline. Lucking into another Mathis is literally our best hope at this point.
Agh. Cards took Riddick. We had interest.
Cards love them some fast WRs. Nelson had the fastest combine time.
5-10, 156? DeSean Jackson could break him in two.
In other news the Santa that got pelted with ice and snow at the Vet died today.
No Jesse James! Damn Stillers!
jack ham, now jesse james. i really hate shitsburgh
steelers stole Jesse james
I think Chip Kelly only had 10 people on his draft board that’s all they could get that could measure up to his characteristics
JSC:
My number was 5.
Kenny Bell gone bye bye
cowgirls get Ryan Russel
That’s not a bad pick but they still need a RB.
Didn’t a lot of you here like Kenny Bell, or was that people on the EMB?
We liked him, was a D3FB favorite.
Mine as well.
Finally a specialist
OMG Belichick
Can’t believe he just did that
wtf just happened, im watching the talladega race
Spent a 5th round pick on the Navy long snapper we had shown a lot of interest in
well shit he probably had cameras set up in the eagles war room
Edit: make that 5th round pick
Here are the last 8 undrafted players who visited Nova Care:
Obum Gwacham, Oregon State – OLB
Alani Fua, BYU – ILB
Darryl Roberts, Marshall – CB
Randall Evans, KU – CB
Travis Raciti, SDS – OL/DE
Adrian Coxson, Stony Brook – WR
[ EDITED ]
Randall Telfer, USC – TE
Jimmie Hunt, Mizzou – WR
Good work.
Joe Cardona gone. Patriots.
just saw.
Belichick and Kelly thinking the same way . . .
But valuation was different, perhaps.
I’ve never heard of a LS being drafted in the 5th round.
That guy is out on a ledge.
When you have a HOF QB, you do whatever you want — and still look like a genius
wow that’s insane!
Belichick can afford to be a bit more aggressive in allocating resources to save a tenth of a second on a long snap in two years.
aside:
Cardona’s selection should help the Service Academies recruit LSers
Make that 8 . . .
Cardona — remarkably — taken in Rd 5 by the PATs
Gwacham & Roberts are my favs.
Both are really interesting players – would be happy with both.
Perfectly happy if Kelly “reaches” for Obie in Rd 6 . . .
Or trades both picks for him!
I’ve been wanting to know this, but had no intention of looking it up myself. Clearly, I chose wisely. Thank you.
Saints just traded up with Skins
Cardona may be the best LS to come out in the draft ever. His snap speed is almost a tenth of a second faster than average. That said, he’s from Navy and has to serve his commitment. Shouldn’t be eligible to play for at least 2 years.
Eagles actually used on of their 30 allotted pre-draft visits on him so that shows he’s not your typical LS. Still, a weird pick.
wow you’d have to have some transcendent david robinson-eque skill at the LS position to be drafted from navy and have to wait 2 years to play
Secretary of Defense has the authority (it’s been reported) to alter Cardona’s service commitment and let him go directly into the Reserves.
So, 3 out of last 4 picks have been P, LS, FB. Good for us.
Woke up from my nap…. what craaaaaaazy moves did we make while I was out.
How long have you been sleeping for?
90 minutes ~~
Nothing. But the Pats took a long snapper in the 5th. Imagine if we’d done that.
Pats selected a LS who will serve 2 years in the Navy in the 5th round…
Chip Kelly did an interview on NFL Network. Don’t have much else.
Did he say coachy organizational stuff like we stuck to our board and we think we got great value or was it more interesting.
It was a bit funnier, but basically. They think Hicks is a 3-down linebacker. And it’s been safe to buy Bradford jerseys since we traded for him.
I think we basically HAVE to take Lael Collins at this point right?
maybe a team with a 7th rd comp pick.
whatever info’s coming out of the Baton Rouge P.D. is not good.
Not saying it’s bad. Just not good.
Andy Reid picking now 2 in a row
They took 2 guys I’ve never heard of
I know O’Shaugnessy the TE. The other guy NFL.com doesn’t even have height & weight for lol.
The 6th round is in sight gentlemen.
Maybe Kelly can trade one of the 6th’s for a 5th in 2016.
Then next year, trade that 5th for a 4th in 2017.
So by 2020, he’ll have an extra 1st
This is your brain after an NFL draft. I love the long view.
Yes more Alex Flanagan plz
not happy with Stark?
I like her too. Was time though. 😛
In the 6th round, finally.
Yeah and no one traded.
Feel like I been watching round 5 for 7 hours
to me jordan Hicks is No Reach if you are comfortable with his medical. The only players that went after him in round 3 who graded higher for me were Daniele Hunter and Carl Davis…
Did Derron Smith kill somebody too? Seems like a player who just keeps falling and we know nothing. Probably has either an injury or a character concern.
Tre McBride too.
Where did Louisville collect all these long OLBs?
New post is up.
